New Year/New Start 2013

Hello ladies! Sorry I have been MIA- lots of medical appts after the thyroid nodules and swollen nodes, now learning from those MRI's that the stenosis is severe in certain areas of my neck and lower spine. Today is the first day with no medical appts in teh past 2+weeks. Now I am starting injection and several more tests to see how much neuropothy I have in my arms and hands. Does it ever stop? To add to all of this my disability hearing is tomorrow. My attorney has me running circles getting current medical stuff. We celebrated DH's 50th birthday Sat night. A nice gathering of friends at a local sports bar. Sunday my Niners won the NFC, and are going to the Super Bowl!!

I see some of you are enjoying these freezing cold temps.. It has not reached 22 degrees in the past 11 days.. this morning it was -3 when I got up. YUCK

Not the flu thankfully. Bronchitis though and a really lousy cough. Sam is not sleeping well because he has it too. So that means i am not sleeping well either. Been a long and exhausting week. Going to bed soon. Night all, catch up with u soon

Lory ss your going through so much again. Hope the injections work for the neuropathy. Have you had the injections before. Wishing you the best of luck on your hearing. It takes such a long time for things like that. And sending a big to your DH sounds like a fun time

Gab hope you and Sami feel better soon. Harder when your both sick. Maybe a nice restfull weekend will help. Are you in the deep freeze like us. Last few days it's been around -16 when I get up in the Am and it's been stay in the upper minuses all day. Supposed to break by Monday.

Laura hope your on the mends too. Are you on your off days?

Tex hope your doing good, I know you've been busy.

Can't wait for Christina to get some spare time and check in. I miss chatting with her.

Scale is moving ! 141.0 this am ! I'm excited

Going to see my nephew who has muscular dystrophy today. He was hospitalized this week for pneumonia and I couldn't go to hospital because I had all the crud myself ( it's Children's Hospital) so he went home last night.......PTL !! I will head to Houston today to see him . He's 15 and having a hard time .

sun just came out Going to finish my coffee and head to park to walk !

Last night I froze chili,chopped brisket, and baked chicken legs for next weeks lunches at work. Made Linda's LC BBQ sauce too...... says it stays in fridge 1 month DH tasted it and said it was good, but kinda sweet ( splenda ) ,,,, but my taste buds must still be messed up from being sick, because it didn't taste sweet at all to me ????

everyone! Sorry I've been missing so long! Superbusy plus fighting allergies!

ing for everyone up there to stay warm. We've had some beautiful weather here. I've been doing a bit of gardening and enjoying the great days. It's getting up to 80F today. Nice now, but we'll pay for it in the summer! Right, Laura?

I had a personal trainer session at the healthcenter today. Learned how to use some new equipment -- including kettlebells! And I managed 3 chinups on the tower! The first time I tried that a few months ago, I couldn't do a single one!

Gotta run get ready to leave for an appreciation and awards dinner tonight (don't know what they are serving ) -- it's (outside Robstown, Laura) maybe 150 miles from here, and we need to get there early to set up a display table. Y'all have a great weekend!

Hi Ladies!

Misty, I see you guys are having the freezing temp we had last week. I tell you yesterday was the worst weather this area has seen in the past 20 years. We had an ice storm, closed 80 miles of interstate for 12 1/2 hrs. The base shut down, everyone was called at 430 am to say stay home. I have never been through anything like that, I though our deck was wet, DH said think again, he opened the door and stepped out with one foot to show me-- wow it was like an ice skating rink. It's a nice 44 today.. weird. the injections are to releive the nerve pain from the stenosis. I am trying to avoid surgery. My hearing went well, 5 years after falling at work, the judge issued a bench decision, awarding me disability.

Gab- Glad to hear it's not the Flu.. Sorry you both have it at the same time, that makes it even worse. I hope it leaves soon. There are so many with the flu and the crud right now.

Tex- 80 degrees..oh my, what a nice temperature that is!

Laura, sorry to hear about your nephew beingin the hospital. Just adding being sick on top of having MS- I am sure it is a battle everyday for him.

I have not heard from christina in about a week ? I think she is working?

Lory, glad you got your disability. It's a shame people have to fight so hard (and pay high lawyer's or advocate's fees) for something they deserve to get.

Gab, this new one is a circuit routine. The trainer said to do it alternating days for a month, then rotate with my two previous weight routines, but upping the reps, sets and weights as I get stronger. I even do a few kettlebell exercises!

Gotta get back to working around the place. It's a beautiful day and dh and I have been getting lots done outside.

Yay Laura!! We did that last Friday! We fell in love with a toy hauler, we would be able to travel with the harley. We are looking at next year to do this.

We have a 2011 26' Jay Flight- I love it! We are looking down the road to travel more. So having a garage on a 5th wheel makes sense..

We'd love to have an RV too! Our pop-up camper is just about worn out. It was great new though, and fine for the two of us (27' when open, and a side slideout), but cramped when ds, ddil and dgs joined. It was still lots of fun, though.

Lory geat news on getting the disability. It's so sad that they make you wait so long. But so glad for you that they made the right disicionand you can get that off your mind. Wow you had it cold too, along with the cold I get the strong winds because it come straight across the lake. Couldn't believe that the wind actually took my tank for my gas grill and tossed it down the road. And it was in a crate. But nice again now, around 20.

Gab glad your finally starting to feel better, hope you got some rest over the weekend. How's Sam feeling?

Tex so jealous to be able to garden all year. Can't wait for this spring, think I'm going to try more vegis. Last fall DH built a nice long box garden. Hope you had a nice time at the awards dinner. Did you get to stay over night. 150 miles sounds like a long ride to me both ways.

Laura hope you get to get an RV sounds like alot of fun now that you get the days off with dh. I would love to have one especially traveling with pets.

Having a lazy morning here.....gonna work on cleaning out DS1's closet that has odds and ends in it....... we want to store extra coats and stuff there so our closet isn't so crowded.

Laura I hate to ride so for me it sounds so far. Not as bad if I'm doing the driving. When I went to Tenn. for a month to see DS I went crazy because he lived in the Mts so had to drive for ever to get to town. But the area was beautiful.

I get really tired of driving too..... everything besides just basic stores is at least 1-2 hours away. It does get old

Yes, I will get backpay, and from what I was told I should get that pretty quick. Looking forward to paying off bill. Where we live, we drive 100+ round trip for medical care, or big shopping (more than Walmart). On some of our Sunday morning rides, we do close to 200 miles.

Laura - sometimes i crave that space . So yesterday i had an almost perfect lc day. Today though... it was a nice day. Work is getting overwhelming with paperwork.

Just a few days ago we were barely pushing 20 degrees, now tomorrow 60s! Crazy! Not going to help my cold i dont think.

Laura, I hope your work days go by easily. At least you and your dh are on the same schedule. That should help a lot, and keep thinking about the days off that are coming! Maybe you could have that getaway you've been trying for!

And speaking of weird weather, we are almost to freezing here tonight after a long spell of t-shirt and shorts weather! I hope we don't have another freeze this winter, because many farmers' crops are already up!

We are on vacation in New Mexico...having lots of fun and seeing some beautiful scenery. So different than Texas I love the snow, there's not a lot, only up at the ski resort. Amazing how some little kids can ski and snowboard like it's nothing ! I love to watch them

What a surprise you're going to have when you come home, Laura. Huisache and fruit trees are leafing out and flowerin, lawns are having to be mowed, it actually rained! :jumpgjoy:

I bought some tomato, pepper and bluebonnet transplants today. The ground is too wet from yesterday's inch of rain, but I'll keep them in the greenhouse until I can plant them. The feed store also had seed potatoes. Valentine's Day is the day for planting them, so I'll have to get some early next week.

We're going to ds's ranch near Seguin tomorrow night so he and dh can go to the exotic ranch and "harvest" a buffalo Saturday. Dh says the way they do it isn't hunting, just harvesting. We'll have full freezers of meat in a couple of weeks!

Misty - i was thinking of you as well. They said Boston area is getting over 2 feet! We are in the midst, but at the moment we are south of the snow/rain line so we are getting rain/sleet mix. Supposed to turn to all snow by 6 and drop 7-12 in on us by tomorrow morning. High winds as well. People are going nuts for gas since yesterday...1/2 hr waits and stations running out.

Laura - so glad you got a chance to get away! Have a great time!

Tex - planting already? Wow! Our season doesn't start until at least next month.

My section of town ended up with under a foot. Took sam out he tasted the snow, liked pushing it with his mittens. Eastern long island has a lot, some over 2 feet!
