YAY! Time to start fresh!
And since it's 2013......I think we started the shorties thread in 2003? So that means 10 years together? I wanna find this out and document it!!! Quiet night at home - watched The Big Miracle and had surf and turf. DD23 ended up staying home as she got the touch of the flu! I was kind of glad......shhhhhhhhhhhh....I hate them on the road anytime late at night by NYE especially with all the party goers out there. No plans for today other than figuring out what to bring to Nashville - DH wants me to carry my bag on, which means I am going to be limited. Also to try to figure out my toiletries with all the regulations!

We just pay for bags. It can be a pain finding a spot to put the bag over head. I can't back very light either. Unless it us a two day trip I check bags. We also fly Southwest a lot so no bag fee there.
Almost home! DH driving. I need to figure out dinner because I didn't take anything out to defrost. |

DH wants me to use gate side check in - doesn't cost and you hand off your bag.
Not sure why - maybe time? We aren't there that long. Everyone seems to charge for bags now days. I am flying Delta. I am so tired of cooking - regular stuff, vegan stuff - I just don't want to cook tonight. |

DH just went to grocery. We are having chicken wings and I will make faux mashed with cauliflower. Chicken wings not thinning with the sweet honey chipotle barbecue sauce he uses but yummy. We don't fry but still fatty too.

Good morning & happy 2013
I'm heading out to yoga on the beach in a little bit. DS19 & friends thought they would get up & go surfing this morning, but that didn't happen. (his best friend leaves for school today) |

Well finally!
![]() Morning Kelly! Debbie - sounds ![]() We're having ham tonight. Cindy - Gate check only works if they suggest it - otherwise you have to carry it on yourself. The airlines only suggest it if the plane is really crowded. DS20 was going to check his bag so didn't get the small sizes for liquids - but he decided to carry on - so far the only thing they took is his bug spray. I'm not sure why he decided to carry on . . . Hopefully he can get bug spray there. I just hope they don't take his contact stuff! The regulations are easy - no more than 3 oz in any bottle and only 1 qt size bag - so however many bottles you can fit in that bag. Then just pull it out and put it in the bin by itself. *nervous*

When I first joined LCFs I never looked at Forums. I took a break and then came back to LCFs and found forums.

I tried finding the thread where we started and couldn't. I think it was 2003 sometime!
DH travels quite a bit and said he hasn't been on a flight that doesn't offer gate side check in. Everyone has me all confused! Hope everyone had a good start to the year!! |

Morning!
Back to work for two days then off to Nashville. I always get nervous when I travel. ![]() DD23 leaves today. It's been fun having her home. I will miss her but should see her enough with the wedding in under 6 months......but as much as I love her dogs....having three dogs here at times gets to be too much! ![]() Have a great day Shorties! |

Having a lazy day. Reading romance novel on my Kindle. Need to get up and color my hair. Running tonight with friends. I would like to tackle cleaning some of my kitchen cupboards. Doesn't feel like a Wednesday at all. I almost feel like we have been on vacation but I haven't had time off really.
Cindy, my husband thinks you will be able to check bags at gate but it has o be carryon size bag and liquids etc in correct size. I found that hard with makeup, face cream, makeup remover, tooth paste etc. I also need contact solution. I can't fit it all in one Quart ziplock bag. We usually just pay to check at least one big bag. My husband travels a lot. He doesn't carryon much anymore. I think the cost of checking is bag is paid for by his association. Just get my lazy bones moving. |

Morning-
Just realized I never popped in here yesterday. DS19 wasn't out too late NYE and I managed to make it to yoga yesterday. Since it was a holiday it was fun to listen to & watch all the kids & dogs playing and running (we are near "dog beach") We went out last night (thanks to my grandma!) to Ruth's Chris. Dinner was super yummy! I had a couple of glasses of wine and shared dessert with DS15 so today is my back to the basics day. (on purpose since I knew we were going out last night and I planned on having wine/dessert) Debbie I'm off to a lazy start this morning too. Both boys are still sleeping and DH is already out the door to the office. I need to go to the grocery store, but DH's car is in the shop (still) and he has mine and I don't like to get more than a few things on my bike. (and I most definitely need more than a few things) Cindy, I'm sure it will be nice to get away for a few days. We have always checked bags, but I don't know if we would if it was just me and DH for a few days. DS19 carries on when he travels alone. (easier for a guy to do though because the only thing he would need that might be a problem is contact lens stuff) It does always seem like which bags get gate checked are at the flight attendants discretion unless its a puddle jumper type plane. (DS19 starts on a small plane from school, so they always gate check his bag on that part of the flight) Becky, how's Guinie doing today? I'm not sure when I started posting with all of you either. Originally, I posted with a group called "funsizers" along with another group. I don't remember when that group merged into the shorties group. MK, I'm sure your DS20 is having a great time for his J-term. I would think it wouldn't be a problem to get bug spray there. |

I think I remember funsizers.
I have colored my hair. Took everything out of big cabinet under peninsula in the kitchen. It holds what I call my office. I really need to file things better but I am throwing things out or recycling. Do I really need the duplicate checks and registers from all the past years. I have insurance info that is over 10 years old. I have old checks and bank statements. I should be able to file this away or dump. I also keep all my plastic wrap, foil, zip locks under there. There are some platters and other cooking related things that don't fit elsewhere. Add water bottles( in excess) and panini press and food processor. It all fits but was messy. Now it is better and more organized. I have a few baskets of papers to deal with and then it all needs to be placed in recycling. I save cards and don't know what to do with them. After this I could tackle my plastic wear cupboard or pantry or not! |

G'afternoon ladies!
Got the girls here, they will be leaving soon, it's a daddy day today from 5-8 and then I have to under to GNC for John. So, I'm with ya guys for a weight loss year! I think I have myself psyched, I can do this! Day 8 of Guinie's fading from me. It's hard to do this with her but it would be harder to put her down. I promised her I wouldn't do it unless she was in pain and she isn't. I promised her I would see her through to the end. She's so skinny. She was such a good cat, so gentle and sweet. So, I have a confession... I went to Jenny Craig this morning. I did my best on that, it's not their fault that I didn't keep it off. I liked that program. I'm excited about this, I feel really good about it. I haven't felt this positive in such a long time. I have such a splitting headache from loss of sleep and worry about Guinie. After tomorrow I'll have 4 days off, I won't be able to be home those 4 days solid but I can at least be home periodically without working and worrying. Kim's here now and it's crazy, I'll check in later

Becky, you are such a good person!! How sad to see your kitty deteriorate.
Good for you going to Jenny Craig. You can do it!!! Just took a nap. Tried to read and fell asleep. I need a few groceries and should go out.. Then again I can make do till tomorrow. We are keeping dinner simple after our run tonight and having omelets. I wanted to get some spinach for mine and some berries to eat with the omelet but I can use frozen spinach and cut up apples instead. |

Becky, good for you for going back to what you know will work.
for you and for Guinie. I'm sure she knows how much she is loved. Debbie, I need to do some cleaining out, but I'm not going to do it while DS19 is home. Trying to go back to flylady so that will help. Your omelets sound good for dinner. Not sure what we'll have yet. DS19 ordered a couple of pizzas, they look and smell good, but I'm not touching them. (there isn't much left anyway) |

She'll spend tomorrow night here and then go to DS's on Friday and her house after the weekend. THEN I'll have an empty nest! Maybe I'll finally clean my house. |

Thursday and I leave tomorrow!
![]() I am tweaking my packing. Will use carry on and not check anything. Emailed my niece and we are going to just pick a casual place for dinner Saturday and bar hop....that will help as I can just bring a couple sweaters/tops and possibly only the jeans I'll be wearing and a pair of boots with heels.....I just don't want to have to worry about bags getting there, etc. Becky - good for you - do what you need to! for Guinie!DS should have so much fun MK!!! I am off to work early - will work out tonight since DH won't be home! :lauch: |

I'll keep boring you all with DS20's itinerary - it keeps me sane and hopefully you won't mind! |

Don't mind at all MK.
I did some more cupboard cleaning. This time the one full of plastic containers. I got my ironing done but did just enough uniforms. Some times I iron them all. Did some more lazy reading. Just bought a rotisserie chicken for dinner and dropped off two big bags if clithes at local hospital thrift shop. Now I am home. Have my run tonight. Work 12 hours tomorrow and Sunday and 8 Monday. Not much else going on here. Sunny day. Seems to be staying lighter a bit longer which is nice. |

Popping in to say
The boys want to go out for lunch but they are slow to get going this morning. MK, please keep filling us in on your DS's itinerary. Its fun to see what he is up to. Cindy, enjoy the (slightly) warmer weather the next couple of days. You should be able to manage packing lightly for just a couple of days. Becky, more for you and Guinie. Hang in there! |

Thanks ladies!!
DD26 finally left about 10:00am. She'll stop in Hayes, KS tonight. I realized I have no idea when I'll see her again!! ![]() She may not be able to afford to come to KC for Easter and she talked about not going to Homecoming this year which is when we see her in the Fall. Guess I need to put aside some travel money! |

Mary Alan, go to her if she can't come to you! I would hate it if Kim didn't live close. John use to say that he wanted to retire to FL but after Alyssa was horn I told him al deals were off. I couldn't do it.
Day 2 going good.- I had a turkey burger for lunch and it was so good! I almost swapped it out too! U can swap 3 meals a week for something else on their menu and I almost did that. Now in glad i tried it! If John doesn't leave soon I'm going to eat without him. |
