I am back in the losing groove, down 3.4lbs this week to 189.0. The eating clean this past week is paying off after three weeks of travel food. We are going out to a middle eastern restaurant tonight and I will have to use restraint with the hummus (yum). I am bringing some "moon pops" to eat instead of pita bread. They are only 16 calories and 3 carbs each, so I can at least keeps my carbs/cals a bit lower.
KT- Thanks for posting the weigh in sheet. Great job on continuing to lose and not consuming processed foods. Glenda- My emotional eating is something I have been working really hard at the last 7-8 months. Just recognizing that I am in that state of mind has been helpful in not overeating or heading out the door to by some carb laden craptastic food. It is also hard to sit with the feelings and think through them. It makes me very agitated but I think this is what I need to do,,,feel the feelings that I normally eat away or eat to cover up the frustration of not dealing with the feelings head on. It is hard work but the payoff is starting to happen now. Once you recognize that feeling you'll fin what works best for you. Good luck!

Wow, Frankie, I don't know how you continue to drop so much weight, week after week! That is amazing.
Did you say you are eating 600 calories? How do you hang in there with it? |

Oh! I usually weigh in on Saturdays, and another two pounds showed up overnight, so I am claiming it! 193 this morning, woot!!!
The potato hack is working still! I have been adding vegetables and blueberries, and I don't do it on weekends (definitely eat meat/eggs on weekends). Wow... |

I had two Zumba classes this weekend which totally kicked my butt. I have no idea what I am doing,,, but I am moving a lot. Today I also I made my BF a week of breakfast, lunches and dinners ready to take to work or heat up when he gets home. He eats somewhat LC but wants to lose more weight since his loss has been at a standstill the last couple of months. So I am helping him with preplanning all his meals and staying more LC. Now he just has to lay off the fruit.
KT and Cindy- Yep I don't eat a lot right now. I have never been able to lose eating like a typical low carber. Since I was about 32 I have had a seriously slow metabolism and only lose if I stay under about 850 calories a day on average and can maintain at 1250 a day. Sometimes now when I go out to eat I will go up to 1000 for a day. Right now per my food journal my average is 645 cal a day for the last two months. I believe this is off and that my calories were probably quite a bit higher than what I logged while I was in the UK as I could not always weigh and measure food and I did not always know all ingredients in a food or know specifically how it was prepared. I think for two of the weeks I probably averaged closer to 950 a day. So the last week I have really been watching what I eat and cutting back on portions to see what I am truly satisfied with eating. I have also been doing an IF most days which leaves me feeling satiated with the lower calories since I consume them in the evening. If I am really hungry, then I have more to eat. I am finally learning the difference between real hunger and head hunger. If I have any kind of a GI test they are always freaked out at how slow the contrast meds go through my system. Most people are done in 30-45 minutes and it takes me three hours for it to get where it needs to go so I can have the test. My doc tells me that even with my thyroid meds I am just never going to be able to eat a lot if I want to maintain a lower weight. I am hoping with exercise my metabolism will not be quite as sluggish and I will be able to eat a bit more on the weekends when I am in maintenance. |

Wow, Frankie - exercising and cooking for BF and zooming down the pounds - awesome!
Wow, you really don't eat very much. I am amazed at how quickly you are dropping. Slow GI movement - does this mean slow metabolism? Or do you mean your body extracts every possible calorie due to slow movement? |

KT-I think that everything in my body is slow due to a sluggish metabolism. I don't think my body gets any more out of food due to the slow movement, just that it takes a long time to digest and travel through.
I have to use restraint in selecting foods. I look at all the nutrition of a food and I look back at my food logs from when I have been able to lose weight in the past and use that nutritional data to keep in line now. I still have my higher carb portions once or twice a week but I really have to watch it closely. It does take some time, but I tend to eat the same foods over and over for a few weeks then rotate to other foods that I will eat over and over. The times that I have been dedicated to carefully planning, logging, measuring and weighing foods I have lost well. When I just try and "wing it" I do not probably because I eat too much or under estimate the calories or carbs in a food. So it is worth it. |

Hello girls, I am so consumed with my grandma I have time for nothing, but wanted to wish you all a Happy Easter or Passover or whatever you celebrate! Nan did have a second surgery on Tuesday they removed all the rods in her hip that slipped and gave her a replacement and pasted the fractures in her femur, her BP is really low last night when I left it was 52/37 I was like geez I didnt know it could get so low, but she looks amazing and her spirit is even more amazing, I know she is not out of the woods and every day is so hard, I realize I am 44 years old and not prepared to lose her. My cousin ended up in the ER yesterday fainted, stress related acid reflux we are dropping like flies here, it is crazy! But I am enjoying every minute we have together, and trying to make her comfortable. And praying like crazy!!!!!!

I am down three pounds this week. Been really working it hard with the Zumba and walking and being very careful with eating.
Amber- I am glad to hear that your Nan came through the surgery. It sounds like she is a fighter which will make a big difference in her recovery. Take care of yourself while you are taking care of her. I hope everyone has a great weekend. It'll be stormy weather here so it is a good excuse to watch a lot of movies. Happy Easter everyone!
Amber - Thanks for the update. I'm still praying for you and your family. Cindy- Good job with the exercise! ![]() Frankie- Nice loss! ![]() Kitty- Thanks for keeping us updated! I'm waaay up today Typical holiday weekend- too much food and no exercise. But I'm back at it today - ran 5k in 34 min (new record!) and sticking to induction foods. I have a 5k race coming up the first weekend of May and I need to work on my speed. I'm so excited - you get a coach bag just for registering! I made an amazing cheesy spaghetti squash casserole a few days ago and I swear I could live on it. Thankfully it's so rich I can only eat small portions at a time. Combine - 1 spaghetti squash (cooked in the microwave & scooped out) - 1/2 cup sour cream - 1/2 cup cheddar cheese - few TBSP parmesan cheese - salt, pepper, garlic & onion powder to taste Top with a bit more cheese and bake. (About 20 min @ 375F) Have a great week ladies!

Great, Frankie!!!
I am off - I was on vacation last week, I am in the middle of the busiest weeks of the quarter at work, and I managed to sprain my ankle yesterday. I decided I am under too much stress for now, but I will pick it back up in a couple of weeks. |

Hmph. I weight yesterday morning and found I was only up 2 pounds after being on vacation and eating out Friday night (I was bad.
) ![]() I have heard several times that when you do the potato hack, the weight does not come back. I am a believer! I went to the doctor to get my ankle x-rayed on Friday night. My doc follows a paleolithic diet. He actually knows what the potato hack is because he reads the paleo blogs. He doesn't recommend it, of course. He ordered a blood draw to check for deficiencies. He was pleased with my weight loss, however. He graphs my weight loss and came bounding in with a smile. There has been solid weight loss every year since 2005 except for 2011 when there was a family emergency, but the graph dropped sharply after that and I am all caught up!

Industrial vegetable oils contribute to inflammation of the liver that is part of metabolic syndrome. Read archevore/Kurt Harris for more info. Exercised muscles will up regulate insulin receptors. |
