GD at the endocrinologists today with dad. I sent a whole list of questions for him to get answers on... She is much better! Nope TOM has fortunately avoided her right now... just got to find out what is going on! She is feeling so much better, her humor is back & get this! Her oily hair and blemished forehead is completely gone! Who knew!
Keep on HB! We can do this! May be slow for some but keep pushing foreward! There is a goal in sight! Keep it there! |

I am down 1.2lbs this week but I had gained several pounds over the last week. I stopped taking antibiotics and BAM, I am losing pounds again. Is anyone else sensitive to medications like antibiotics?
Sara- Great job losing. On the Shiratake noodles you have to really rinse them well and then pan dry/fry them before cooking them with sauce. They in no way are like a semolina pasta noodle but can pass for Asian noodles. They do soak up whatever sauce you put them in and the stinky fishy smell goes away. Unfortunately they do have a perceptible "squeak" to them that lots of people don't like. When I needed bulk to fill in my appetite, I used to like the Miracle brand as it is not soy based. Faithful- I am glad your GD is seeing benefits from getting her on thyroid meds. Jayce and Blonde- Great job on the losses! Danielle- When I have been stuck for a while in a few pound range, I typically will start losing out of the blue again. I have wondered if those points have been "set points". I do wonder if our bodies remember weights that we have been at before and try to keep us there to preserve the fat. Keep hanging in there, you'll start losing soon.

Hello all. I was up 3 lbs today. Not going to stress about it. I have been eating a little more this week because I am on prednisone for bronchitis that I am getting over. I have been hungrier than normal and TOM is also in the house. I know that in no time the 3lbs will be gone as well as some with it. I have been going to the bathroom like crazy today so I think my body is finally releasing some water.

IAM- that is super about your GD that is very good news!!!!!
Everyone else are you in snow? We didn't get as much but it is cold and windy we have a pancake breakfast to go to, I know not good, our good friend's son is doing a youth group trip to CT to rebuild a playground for inner city kids that was destroyed in Sandy with their church, so I figure charity pancakes are low carb, LOL I am going to enjoy them I never eat real pancakes!!!! |

Thank you!
It is now post birthday, and I got on the scale. It is only a hair over 200! I went out to eat 2x over the past two days, sushi and Asian fusion (very salty, lots of dark oyster sauce, maybe 1/2 cup worth, seriously), 2 pieces of cake, one huge cup cake, 2 1/2 servings of chocolate, tons of hummus...plenty of protein. I'm not really up much in weight. Wow. Three ladies at work have asked me what exactly is the potato hack because they have been struggling and this looks like real fat loss on me. My face is much thinner, my pants are loose. This is no water game. OMG, what if Dr. McDougall was right??? I did Furhman's diet and failed miserably years ago. McDougall says eat starch, Furhman says low starch. They are the vegan diet gurus. I won't go totally vegan, because I know Chris MasterJohn and others have said they got a mouthful of cavities going vegan, but....???? Talk about being completely floored. So, anyway, I expect I will be back in the 190s pronto!

Industrial vegetable oils contribute to inflammation of the liver that is part of metabolic syndrome. Read archevore/Kurt Harris for more info. Exercised muscles will up regulate insulin receptors. Sara- as frankie said those noodles are not like pasta, I prefer them in some soy based dish, and as she said the miracle noodle is the best brand rinse and rinse then dry them out a little in the pan, but I ordered 6 bags I ate them but never re ordered I would rather eat dreamfields in moderation.
So a Monday, what plan will make me lose 5 and gain 5? I am really sick of the see saw!!! Fascnacht day here on Tuesday donuts everywhere, so I am hoping to avoid those! |

Didn't get a chance to check in on the weekend. My scale is being wonky...must be time to replace the batteries so no weigh in for me. I did my final practice run on Saturday with my sister & SIL that will be running the race with me. I'm a bit disappointed since SIL hasn't done any training and really held us back (our time was 20 min more than my first trial, and she quit 3 miles early) but I keep reminding myself that the time doesn't matter as long as we finish. I feel bad that she's struggling so much now, but really? Who signs up for a half marathon and doesn't do any training??? It's kinda funny though, both girls are skinny minnies (size 2 & 0) and I am in better shape in my XL shorts!

Good morning!
After a four-day hiatus, I am starting another potato hack. I am hoping to crack into the 180s before it is done! I estimate 3 weeks, if it goes as well as it did last time. I am up only 3 pounds after eating out 4x in 4 days + 4 servings of birthday cake and eating birthday chocolate. 203. Not bad at all! I think it is water and will come right back off. I went for a bike ride yesterday. It was the first time I felt like I could really, really go! I went 15 miles on firmly-packed gravel at 10-12 mph! It is the best I have ever done. The difference? A (big) handful of raisins! I made it 1/3 the way and felt I just wanted out of it. Then, I ate the raisins, and woo-hooooooo! It worked better than potatoes. I had potatoes before I left for the ride. Anyway, I felt strong, I could feel my muscles working, I had power, I felt like a kid! It was actually fun. |

After a high of 195 yesterday morning and wanting to beat myself up, I stayed LC and exercised last night. This morning the scales are down and I am hopeful I can stay on plan for a while.
My problem has been thinking I could have just a bite of this or that. Sometimes the bites led to a binge and sometimes the bites just added up to make for a HC day. Somebody on LC Friends (probably more than one) has a signature reading "Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels." WOuld that I could remember that all the way back to the 170's. Hope you all have a good day. Janice

Re: Shirataki noodles- it wasn't even the taste or the icky smell (I washed that off as the directions instructed) it was the weird chewy texture, it was like eating a clam, I felt like it never dissolved enough to swallow, freaked me right out lol. I'll stick with Dreamfields like Amber
![]() Did 12 minutes on my elliptical yesterday! Woohoo! lol, ok, I know it's not much, but it's a start! At least I used it! Mini vacation in the Keys with Paul next weekend, so I'll have to weigh in Thursday morning instead of Friday, but I plan on staying FIRMLY on plan -no frills, no weird stuff- until then and am hoping for a great number to send me off! Once we're down there I can't make any promises though... I Looooooooooooooooove conch fritters! ![]() Have a great day HBs!
