Oh I forgot, I started a biggest loser competition at the gym and in 12 weeks I put my goal at 12 lbs. Thats about 2 point something lbs a week, and I think I can do it. If I reach goal, I get my money back, if I win (highly unlikely but thats what I am going for!) I get a free 1 year membership. I have to pick up the losses next week to be on pace again!

CindyM~ I too fell into a bottle of wine last night after way too much salt yesterday~ I'm up 1lb. The whole time I was eating salty food I kept telling myself "you have weigh-in tomorrow"! I guess I wasn't listening to me. Congrats to the losers, better luck next week to the rest of us!

Whew. Back to my low weight before Thanksgiving. 206 (213 last week was my freak out reaction to a high fat low protein/fat fast like thing that didn't work for me). So far, the potato hack is working.

Down to 190. It's rainy and yucky out here today. Still warmer than last week but it seems like the cold has been making its way across the US to the rest of you...

2.6 down this week. I'm getting a cold. And yucky cough. So far I have just had warm tea to drink today. I'm on my 2nd cup of it. I really wanted a steak salad from our fav. Place tonight...but I am thinking it might be toasted cheese sandwich and chicken noodle soup instead.

Another long hospital day today with my BF's mother. It is hard to hear her say she wants to die when she can recover easily but does not have the will to do so.
I am down 4.4lbs from last week. Keytones- Great job getting back to your low weight! Amber- You are freaking awesome with your push ups! I hope you will get terrific results with this trainer. Melanie- Hope you feel better soon. Cindy- It is not being whiny when you are working your butt off at work covering for an employee. That is why work is a four letter word!

One thing I noticed girls those Atkins frozen entrees have an entire day's worht of sodium in them, they are really high so I laid off them this week, kicked up the exercise and still didnt lose? Whatever, me and that scale are going to have a fist fight soon! LOL
Chelsey- WTG hun, I am so proud of you getting to the gym that is going to help you so much even when the scale doesnt cooperate! Geez I am 220 and can still wear my size 12 jeans, so even though I am heavier, I am firming up, so keep at it, I want you to win that year membership, that is a great prize!!!!!! KT- I wish I could move real weight I swear nothing is working!!!

HORRENDOUS weigh in this week. Despite having some really great food days prior to Friday, the fact that I was up for nearly 30 hrs straight had everything to do with that weigh in.
DD16 has has/had a stomach virus and supermom has been with her every step of the way, including up at 4am watching tv. Anywho, really hoping next week is a much better week scale wise! Hope everyone's having a great weekend so far ![]() |

Frankie- Sorry about all the stress.
Nice loss!Cindy- Hope you can get back to your normal workload soon! Amber- I wish I cold afford a trainer! She sounds great. WTG on the fit test ![]() Chelsey- Congrats on the loss & WTG on the workouts! You'll probably see a difference in inches more than weight - that's a good thing! Melanie- Feel better soon! ![]() Keytones- WTG I'm so happy you've found something that works for you Danielle- Wow, staying up with your daughter, you really are supermom! The weight will move - get some rest lady! AFM- I'm down a bit this week- I'll take it. The stress of having to replace my van so suddenly has been getting to me all week. We finally found one I love and made an offer today. As long as the bank approves, we can pick it up on Tuesday.

Just finished work .... back at it tomorrow and the girl is still sick. I'm just not sure how much longer I can keep this up
![]() KT ~ Glad that the potato thing is working. Merinda ~ Hope you are staying dry. I would rather have snow than rain but I guess that is not an option in beautiful San Diego. Melanie ~ Awesome on the pounds gone. Feel better soon. Thanks Frankie ~ Has to be so sad what is happening with BF's Mom. Congrats on the pounds gone. Sherrie ~ I'm also a salt lover. Amber ~ Have you been measuring? With all the exercise, you are building muscle and it is fact that muscle weighs more than fat and you look amazing! Chelsey ~ Congrats on pounds gone and joining the competition. Danielle ~ Hope your daughter is feeling better. Kristyn ~ That is great that you found a new van AND pounds are GONE!!

Going to work out with the old trainer the one that overslept last week I guess I have to tell him about the new trainer, LOL I am even getting confused! Honey is suppose to be home tonight! I hope he gets in before round #2 of the ice storm we are suppose to get. Here is another article, trying to keep everyone motivated. I was down to 221 this morning, all of a sudden the freaking scale moved I was stokked whether it lasts is another story but it made my morning!!!!
One of the biggest areas of confusion in the fat-loss arena is food combinations. Over time, the way you combine your foods can have a huge impact on sustained fat-loss AND overall health. There's a lot of debate about how to combine foods, but I've always focused solely on keeping blood sugar and insulin stable throughout the day. When insulin levels are consistently "spiked" it's pretty much impossible to use fat as fuel. But if you learn how to keep blood sugar stable, you'll enhance your body's ability to consistently burn off belly-fat. Additionally, keeping blood sugar balanced will improve your overall health, well being, and help you avoid cardiovascular diseases and even epidemics like diabetes. So strategic food combining can help you burn more fat AND increase your energy levels in a big way. Here are 3 simple food-combining rules you can use for FASTER fat loss: 1. NEVER eat carbs by themselves Remember, almost all "impact" carbs (starches and certain fruits) tend to spike insulin higher and faster than other foods. Like I mentioned above, this creates a fat storing environment inside your body because it's nearly impossible to burn fat in the presence of high insulin. So always combine your impact carbs with some type of lean protein. 2. ALWAYS have some type of high quality complete protein in every meal Consuming protein in every meal will keep your body in a consistent anabolic (muscle preserving) state. Protein also provides your muscles with a steady stream of amino acids to help assist in repair and growth of lean muscle tissue. Also, the thermic effect of protein will help prevent metabolic slow down and burn more calories (in other words, your body will burn more calories digesting and breaking down protein than it will digesting and breaking down fat and carbohydrates). So by consuming protein frequently throughout the day you'll naturally burn more calories. I also find protein helps fight off the cravings. There are a few exceptions to this rule, like a detox or cleanse, but 90% of the time you should be eating protein in every meal...especially if you're an exerciser. 3. LIMIT fat intake when eating starches or fruits (impact carbs) By keeping fat intake a little lower in meals that contain starches and/or fruits you'll avoid insulin AND fatty acids being present together in the blood stream. Remember, insulin is a "storage" hormone. So if you eat an impact carb, which spikes insulin higher and faster than most other foods, with a bunch of friendly fat -- the insulin will potentially store the fat you just ate. So impact carbs + too much fat = potential fat storage. A good rule of thumb for combinations is: Protein + Carbs (limit fats to under 10 grams) Protein + Fat (limit carbs to under 10 grams) Always remember veggies are pretty much unlimited and under most circumstances they don't count as "impact" carbs. This doesn't mean 15 or 20 grams of friendly fats once in a while with an impact carb is going to make or break your plan, but make sure you're aware of these guidelines. But following these 3 simple rules is only half the equation. You still have to exercise, stay hydrated, and get adequate rest too. I know you're smart enough to realize this, but a good reminder always helps. ;-) These are from Shaun Hadsell, I get daily emails from him so I thought I would share ones focused on diet and nutrition. |

Morning, ladies! Eating has been hit or miss -- I'm kinda broke right now, so I'm taking meals where I can get 'em. LOL. Took me 2 hours to get home Friday due to snow (it normally takes me about 35-40 mins in normal traffic). It was crazy!

When I am not posting, you know it's because I am struggling. The Binge Monster seems to get me every time.
But I do feel like I've made a breakthrough in that arena and that I am getting it under control. Feel very positive but I've been reluctant to weigh in. How is everyone else doing? |

Another long day (and weekend) at the hospital with the BF's mom who is now totally delusional from dehydration (and not eating). The docs are rehydrating her but we are getting phone calls from the hospital at midnight and 4:30am because she is combative and freaking out and pulling the feeding tube and IV out. She is totally whacked out saying stuff like "the cat is in the banana boat" and thinks it is 1949. This is the kind of stress that makes me want to binge. Sipping diet coke has been a lifesaver and I have avoided the vending machines. I am aware of my binge tendencies and triggers so I am working hard at keeping them in check and facing the stress and emotions head on. Thanks for letting me vent!
KT- Glad the hack is working so well for you and that you can actually see a difference. Amber- Loved the info on food combinations,,,makes so much sense. Welcome Kemp! Janice- Clean eating will definitely get you back in the right frame of mind and will get your motivation back. Jayce- Wow I had no idea it snowed in VA last week. Hope the meals get easier this week. Krystin- Sledding with the kiddos sounds like so much fun! Your kids will remember you doing this with them. Jes- When struggling this is the time you need to come in and post more often. I know how hard it is when this happens to me I feel ashamed and like to hide away. The great thing is that everyone here understands your issues and there is no recrimination when you are struggling. I understand the binge monster as I have one lurking in the shadows in me just clawing to get out at times when I am weak. Hang in there and let us know how you are doing. |

badgers! Canceled school here due to ice. Weight back to 163.8, so it was the added veggies/fiber. LOL Had a Great LC meal at red lobster. Grilled lobster, shrimp and scallops. Salad with ranch. Subbed the rice with broc and had broc for the side choice, so double broc! Packed up the biscuits to give to the carb eaters at work! Talked hubby out of eating any....they are tempting! Told him I'd find a GF version! Help! Got a good recipe? Kemp! ![]() ![]() |
