Big D - Sorry to hear about your grandfather. It has always amazed me how falls and common illness wreak havoc on us when we get older. Such events motivate us to wring the goodness out of each day. Also - NICE LOSS. Can I borrow your scale - especially if it lets you drink alcohol?

Oobs- I like your attitude. Keeping it real and focusing on key steps to success. I have the same issue - I try to makeup for my screw-ups in a single bound and get frustrated when one off plan day screws up my "master" plan and spend the next few weeks in surrender.

Today's stats:

1304 Calories
44 Carbs
3.2 miles walked on treadmill

Had some mild cravings for carbs - ate just enough to get the craving in check. I am going to continue working on getting rid of that issue.

Good day yesterday. I ate out at lunch, but think I made good choices. You just never know with restaurant food. Jogged 2 miles and walked .9 last night.

Eats and exercise were good yesterday. Just need to string a few more days like that together and get some momentum going.

As a family, we're currently down 7 pounds. I did 30 minutes of cardio last week and didn't make time for any weight workouts.

Hopefully this week will be different. I'm definitely feeling a lot better physically than I was, although I'm finding quitting the alchohol/daily glass of wine difficult.

I'm hoping to look like Shiner's April Fool's joke photo from last year in the end.....

No exercise. I did spend some time time cleaning and doing other stuff that was not couch potato-like. Overall, good day. I still have my cravings for carbage, but the last few days it has not been so overwhelming.

Simultaneously fooled me and inspired me..... Gonna be in your neighborhood NQS Big D the week of Mardis Gras (Feb. 12th)-

Checking out Plano, Mckinney, Murphy, (maybe Richardson too), as possible relocation areas. House is going back on the market next week - after $25,000 of upgrades, the agent suggests listing it $3,000 less than what we originally listed it for prior to the upgrades. I'm expecting that I'll be in Dallas or Austin by the summer - still not sure which one, and I expect it to be a difficult choice.

Huff,

Are you purposely keeping your calories that low, or is that just where they're falling? I don't think I'd be able to function on that amount.

The family weigh in went well. My son has decided to fast today for lunch instead of bringing healthy food, which is OK by me, but my wife is having a fit over it. I'm still old school and believe that if a kid is hungry enough, he'll eat. When I grew up, you either ate what mama put on the table, or you went to bed hungry.

Curious, guys, what exactly defined 'carbage' for each of you?

Carbs > X grams per day or Bad Carbs

For me, a cup of blueberries or blackberries wouldn't be carbage, however, a donut would be.....

I'm currently trying to hold my carbs < 100 per day, but I do go over on a few days, depending on my cravings. Yesterday, I ate an apple and 2 bananas, so I probably went over, but the rest of the days probably fall somewhere between 50-100.

Another good day on eats, but a shorter than planned jog. For some reason, I had not energy and just had a tough time getting in 1.5 miles.

Bulk - That's just North of where I live in Garland on the Firewheel Golf Course. Richardson is on the northern border of my neighborhood. Good luck on your search and more on the sale of your house. If you have questions or need info feel free to shoot me a message or email.

Also, I would define carbage similar to Ooba. Pretty much any processed foods high in carbs. Stuff made with flour, sugar, HFCS, etc. Higher carb things like carrots or fruit I wouldn't consider carbage, but is still to high in carbs for me to eat now.

Still going strong. I think I'm going to ramp it up a little this weekend and start doing p90x again. I don't really drop pounds as quickly, but the body shape definitely changes.

Solid week. I was hoping for a little bigger number in induction week two, but I'll take 2 pounds. Good weekend for me for eats and exercise.

I had one cheat meal all week that involved a squid salad marinated in some type of sugary marinade and an apple martini. I'm definitely disappointed in the results.

As far as exercise goes, I worked out once all week, doing lots of pullups and bench presses. I just don't recover like I used to, and one workout tends to make me sore all week.

I have to do a whole lot more cardio this week.

doing alright here. i just can't seem to get in the zone with my diet. (unrelated to "The Zone" diet) i do well for a day or two and then have a bad day. before december i was doing awesome with my eats, i really wasn't feeling temped and was starting to feel in control of my appetite. but then i got sloppy over the holidays and it's hard getting back into that healthy eating zone.

Another good day. I've almost got my first two week goal down.

Ooba - getting that mindset right is the toughest part of getting in a groove. I have to go all in to really succeed. Old school Atkins '72 induction with no alcohol, caffeine or aspartame. Tracking everything I put in my mouth is also important. When I just wing it, I seem to consume a lot more carbs than I intend.

Hey guys! I am way off plan. I went to Ohau last week to a friends wedding. Needless to say, I was weak. The Island is beautiful - beat my expectations. Back to work tomorrow, back to low carb tomorrow. Going to stick to plan and weigh in next Monday.

Looks like you guys are doing great!

Still working it. I successfully finished my first two week goal, so I'm going to double down and do it again. Atkins induction, exercise 5 times a week and post every day. I also going to shoot for a 5 pound loss in the two weeks.

Huff - sounds like you had a good time in Hawaii. I never tend to stay on plan during vacations. The key is just getting right back on track.

Well, we're down 12.5-13 pounds as a family since Jan 1st. Unfortunately, only 1 of those is mine. I'll chalk it up to "gaining muscle" or "muscle memory", although I'm using that excuse a little early in the game.

I am blessed to have the entire family on the plan, so the temptations are kept to a minimum.

As a family, we've decided to allow one cheat meal per month. For me, it's gonna be one of those giant cans of beer from the local gas station.

We watched the Biggest Loser a few nights ago. There was a huge guy that was working hard all week and eating according to plan that lost nothing. I think the lesson in that is that consistency is key. It's not all about calories, although calories are in the equation. The human body does not like to give up its fat stores, but it certainly will do so if forced to.

Keep up the good work.

Still doing well. I skipped jogging last night as I'm fighting off a minor cold. It's a bad excuse, but I probably needed a day off. My feet, knees and back are all feeling good and I don't want to overdo it.

Bulk - that's great that you've got your family doing it with you. Having that kind of support and not having junk in the house will go a long ways to keeping everyone on plan. My wife once tried to support me and did low carb for about three days. She's a bread and pasta girl, so it was doomed from the start. She didn't have but a few pounds to lose anyway, so there wasn't much motivation for her.

Ken - that kind of workload sucks. Hopefully you'll be back to normal soon.

I am wayyyyyyyy off track. I was watching some video of my 2010 bike trip and liked how I was looking. Nothing like looking back to see what was once accomplished to kick the motivation back into high gear.

Bulk - gotta love that your family can do that well. Awesome idea.
Big D - Keep up the plan. Passed through Dallas International last week. 2 inches of snow???
Ken - you can join up with me since I am running at the back of the pack.

I did well all weekend with eats until football came on yesterday afternoon. Got an early workout in this morning though. I'm sure that only put a small dent in the calories from last night though. I did have lots of energy.
