Hey Marilee! Join the Early Bird Group! lol Sorry you can't sleep. Of course, I am up for the day since 2:30 am. Saw that a girl I work with couldn't sleep either. She posted on FB that " your mind is like no, there wasn't enough thinking happening today so ha ha." That cracked my up. Sooo true. At least if you can get back to sleep you can sleep in today! Enjoy your long weekend!

Good news, I had my 90 day review yesterday and they went ahead and made me a permanent employee with benefits. It sure has been a long haul but glad I can relax a little and not have to worry from week to week that I might get laid off.

Have tuna packed for lunch today. Scale is just sticking out its tongue at me.

Tony, how was your scouting trip to Brattleboro last night?

FF, what are your plans for the day?

Britt, how did your chicken marsala come out last night? Hey, get those extensions out of the bag and dyed and trimmed!

Have great day Blitzers!

CONGRATUALTIONS, ABIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!...that's awesome news!!!...i am so happy and you soooo deserved that job....i told ya so, didn't i?...you are more rare and talented than you give yourself credit for being...

in comparison, ff is rare in a "different" way :-)

marilee, what is keeping you up, babe?...

had a nice ride out to brattleboro...we took a look at the old howard johnson's at the roundabout (which i always call a "traffic circle"), but it is a complete disaster...every inch of the place needs to be gutted and replaced...

looked at some other places too...we have some work to do developing the concept, before we can choose an appropriate site, but right now we are getting some ideas for what is available...

had dinner at the marina - i ordered a flat-iron steak special which was good and came with green beans and roasted potatoes (which i sampled and left)...we had steamed shrimp and buffalo wings for an appetizer...we had a great time - sat upstairs and had a great waterview...have you eaten there abs?...

that's it for now...i took some of the money i DID NOT owe in taxes and bought a hot tub and the guy is coming out this morning to do a site evaluation...i have to pour a concrete pad for it - i think - and there is still snow where it is going, so it will be a while before it is delivered and installed...

i will hit the gym when the spa guy leaves...have a great day all!

Congrats Abi! That's got to be such a relief, and also a huge compliment!

The chicken marsala was devine. I've never made it before, and I didn't find a recipe that I 100% liked, so I took some ideas I did like and winged it. I did bread thin chicken breasts in a 1/2 panko 1/2 parmesan (with salt pepper and ranch powder) so they had a little crunch to them, and made the sauce with a zinfandel, heavy cream, mushrooms, garlic, and more parmesan. Maybe by the end it wasn't even chicken marsala, but it tasted so good and boy said it was the best he's ever had. It was light too, not very heavy on the stomach. There were no leftovers, but for the first time ever I didn't cook enough to feed a village either.

Only watched the last 10 minutes of Idol. Wasn't feeling all the fanfare, just wanted to see who goes home. I'm happy with their decision. I never liked that guy, his ears were weird.

Hope you get to take a nap today Marilee! How nice to have a little mini stay-cation!

Tony- a hot tub?!?! Jealous.

Tony, I put myself through college working at that Ho Jo's. I'm sure it is run down and decrepit! Ha Ha

The family ate at the Marina a couple of times late in the fall. It was really fun! I had a ceasar salad with grilled chicken both times. Very good!

abs, my buddy refers to the place as bickford's, which it must have been later on, but i remember when it was hojos 30 years ago...funny that you worked there...did you have to wear an orange and brown uniform?...where did you go to college and what did you study?

britt, the chicken zinfandel sounds yummy :-) ...missed idol this week and i'm pretty sure i didn't miss much!...

great gym workout today...going to dw sister's house in dedham, ma tomorrow as dw's parents are visiting for a pre-easter dinner...dw is making lasagna which is so good, and i will taste a small piece...i think her sis is making ham and some other stuff...

my grandfather (dad's dad) was born 110 years ago today...

Tony, it was called Bickford's while we were living in Alabama. I think Mom used to tell me that it used to be the after church breakfast place. I graduated from Castleton State in Vermont and was an education major. I was considering becoming a school art teacher but with DH joining the army and our moving around with 3 years in Germany my focus went on to other directions. Yes, as I recall the uniform had a white top with a tourquiose skirt with some orange accents on the short sleeves and then an apron we tied in a big bow in the back. lol DH was a busboy there and got me the job as we were dating then and my brother also became a bus boy there.

well, you would be happy to know the same equipment is in there from the 1970s!...my buddy went to unh (where we met) and got his associates degree and then went on to get his bachelor's degree from castleton state...i visited him there in the early 80s...

dw and i spent our honeymoon in vermont, most of it at her grandparent's tiny cottage on lake hortonia, which is just up the road from castelton...ever been there?...small world, isn't it?...

you would have been an awesome art teacher, by the way...you have the perfect temperament for it ;-)

Abi, I'm so glad that you are now a permanent employee! You deserve it.

Tony, I just had one of those nights where I wasn't sleepy.

I'm bowing out of the challenge.....between some meals with friends and Easter tomorrow, there is now way I will have lost anything. I'm just hoping I didn't gain.

Had a nice visit with my tax man....whew!

Have a great rest of the day....

a nice day off from the gym today...skipped breakfast which is BAD, had a greek yogurt for lunch and some ham and a small piece of lasagna for dinner...if my body had its way, i would only eat between 3 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.-ish...not a good schedule!...

hope everyone had a great saturday!

Happy Easter Blitzers!

Tony, boy it is a small world. You hadn't mentioned that your buddy had also gone to Castleton! Wonder if the old watering hole across the border into NY was still there? (The Hampton Manor) Ha ha. I don't recall Lake Hortonia. We would go to Lake Bomoseen to a place called "The Talking Dog" to hang out sometimes.

Busy day today. Church at 7am, then to DD to buy a box of coffee, drive up to Walpole for brunch and then dinner at one or so. Need to stop on way home to pick up cat food and other groceries for the week. Have the chocolate rabbits that DH always buys the little kids packed in car. There will be 4 little ones today. Two others could not make it because my nephew is the head chef at a nursing home complex and this is one of the busiest days of the year for him.

I am with Marilee on the challenge. Let's do another 2 weeks Tony. That would bring us to Monday April 15th. If I lost anything on this challenge it might have been a pound but then again by Monday it will show a big jump up. I probably won't even weigh on Monday. lol

I went to the candle shop yesterday and picked up some tiny tea lights for the sisters, sister in law and two nieces. Just a variety of scents that they can sample and then if they really like one in particular I can get them the day light size which burns for about 12 hours. I put them all in a basket with Easter grass. photo below.

Have a wonderful day all!

okay, girls, the 5-lb. challenge will go to monday, april 15th...sorry i didn't think about easter when i came up with this idea...

lake hortonia is a smaller (but still good-sized) lake just past lake bomoseen on that same road...we were broke when we got married and were so grateful to be able to stay there...we did spend one or two nights in burlington which was our "splurge"... :-)

not sure what we will do today, believe it or not...went to sil's last night and had dinner with them and dw's parents which was nice...emmy is home but has a lot of school work, so not sure when she will want to leave...i will either run out and get some groceries to make a meal or we will try a newer restaurant that i wasn't even aware of til i drove back from vermont the other night...it's called the "copper door" and has gotten some awesome reviews...

it's also an "iffy-ish" gym day - i may or may not go depending on the kids' schedule...

happy easter to all!

hey vicki, great to see you, girl!...hope ya stick around awhile :-)

went to cracker barrel for breakfast this morning as the diner was closed and emmy planned to leave before dinner (she stayed til almost 4 though)...the restaurant where we hoped to have dinner was sold out, so i just ordered some chinese food and my son is picking it up, so it will be me, dw and our 3 boys for din din...

skipped the gym but will work extra hard there tomorrow...walking dead season finale tonight - can't wait!...

btw, i had 2 eggs over easy, 1/4 of the hash browns, 1/2 slice of wheat toast, a grilled pork chop and a small orange juice - not really low carb but relatively healthy and that's my mantra - or kbeth's adopted by me: "food as fuel, fuel as medicine"...then for lunch i had a salad with evoo, vinegar and feta cheese sprinkled on top...

hope the easter bunny didn't bring any of you too much chocolate...wait a minute!...is there such a thing as too much chocolate???... :-)

ff, where are you???

We had a wonderful day yesterday and the food was so delicious. Sister and husband had two different kinds of spiral hams and the quiches for brunch were so good. Was able to bring home some leftovers.

Running a little short on time this morning but will post one picture of the little ones. Keira has her chocolate bunny that DH bought for the kids.

Have a wonderful Monday Blitzers!

wow, those kids are so cute, look so happy and that's a beautiful house! :-) happy you had such a great day, abs...

we had a nice day too...the oldest son's gf stopped by after dinner with her family so it was good to see her...she lives in portsmouth (about 45 mins away) and he usually goes there, so we don't see her very often...

the chinese food was good and we were starving by the time it got here... :-)

time to head off to the gym and then to work at the building...see y'all later on...

Cute picture, Abi! I bet you had a good time with everyone!

Tony, good for you for hitting the gym. You have been so faithful.

Holy cow! I just have to share....I got on the scale this morning expecting bad news and I lot the 5 pounds for the challenge.

APRIL FOOL! I actually gained the 2.5 that I had lost so I'm back to square one.

Happy late Easter All!!! We had no kind of celebration, though my mom did call and say she had easter baskets for boy and I.

I decided to give the HCG another shot for a few weeks and then ease back into low carb, since it's fairly similar in that no starches, no sugar, etc... So I used Saturday and Sunday as my load up days and I can honestly say that by the end of yesterday, I didn't want anything more to do with food! We'll see what the scale does from here out, but todays number was not pretty. I'm even estimating about 5 lbs loss tomorrow just from all the bloat I packed in this weekend. ugh...

L: Tilapia filet, handful of asparagus, apple
D: same thing

Boy watched the walking dead last night. There was a lot of shouting at the tv by the end. I never got into it in the beginning so I don't really pay a lot of attention now. But the following is tonight! only 5 episodes left.... I think.

Happy Monday All!

hey britt, you should catch up on the walking dead - it's really, really good...good luck with the hcg - you sound motivated!...

started watching "justified" on my flight to nashville and i LOVE it...has anyone else seen it?

marilee, you are too funny...i climbed on the scale today and i was at 225.8, down .2 lbs for the challenge - woo hoo!...that's 1/10th of a lb. per week - impressive, i know!

great workout at the gym today - i have figured out that my body responds best to three workouts per week with one day in between them and then 2 days off at the end of the week to rest and regenerate...i felt GREAT today after my two days off...did the treadmill, elliptical and bike and then the 10-station weight training circuit...

it's so weird to do things i haven't been able to do for so long...yesterday i did some yard work and started cleaning up my grandfather's 1963 ford falcon that's been sitting out there deteriorating since 1999...

OMG! I drove a Ford Falcon - way back when I was young and going to HS. I called it "the bomb" (and not the bomb the way it's mean today!). It had a hold in the floor....too funny.

I did try to get into the walking dead, but the first few episodes just left me feeling like my stomach was trying to escape. Not from the gore, but just from feeling the reality in the concept. There have been several Texas Chainsaw Massacre type movies where I think I probably would have just taken myself out rather than strive for the slim chance of surviving and becoming someones lunch. eeby jeebies!

interesting, britt...lf you have a fear of becoming someone's lunch, how do you feel about becoming someone's midnight snack?...personally, i would forbid the boy from watching any show that promotes the consumption of human flesh, but that's just me... ;-)

just missed a call from ff - i was wondering where he'd been...anyway, his computer died and he is getting a new laptop tomorrow, but more importantly, he reminded me that someone has to start a new blitz, so i will try to remember how to do it and will post a link here shortly...

that is why he is our leader!...
