I thought I would have to wait until 5:30 to find out if they are calling off work or not but the company had already posted on fb that everything will be closed today even the restaurant and store. Lots of comments from people saying what a great company for putting their employees before the almighty dollar. I agree. Right now at 4:19am we haven't had one flake yet but it was the drive home everyone was worried about. Hoping I can quick get the oil changed in my car today before the roads get bad.

Will check back later and see what is going on with everyone. Britt, fantastic on the 4 pounds!!

HAPPY FRIDAY, BLITZERS!!!

I dare say some of us are gonna get snowed on big time. FERENGHINAR has no cold zones. It is hot and humid all over the planet. You can imagine how fun it must be for those toiling in our labor camps. But, home is home! I forgot to mention, when the steak defrosted, my nose discovered it was past its prime. Out it went. i ordered chinese. Oh well, it WAS a thin cut anyway. That will teach me, that when I buy perishables, to make them soon after purchase. Listening to my buddy, Bocelli as we speak. the snow is forcing me to re-arrange all my weekend errands. I hope i can make it to Shoprite and home, i have nothing to drink in the house. There are cookies and candy canes in the kitchen right by my work station. Frankly, just looking at it makes me nauseous. Best of luck dealing with the white stuff. F-42 more work hours to go-F

Hey all - was sick the past couple of days so didn't log in and I need to take the time to post more.

I don't think several of my plants survived the frost, however I'll know better when the landscaping company comes on 3/1 to trim and check them out.

Got to get to work - I'll touch base later.....

Boy is boyfriend. No kiddos for me, the though the boy is getting babyitis...

UP .2 this morning. GRRR... happy Friday.

I baked and diced up some chicken last night, then spooned a few spoonfulls of tikka masala sauce over top. Roughly 3 carbs per 8oz bowl. Didn't eat any, just put in little gladware bowls to bring for lunch or such. Mostly didn't want chicken to go bad.

American Idol shocked me a bit last night. Of the 5 people I'd pegged, 4 got eliminated. I know how to pick them! A lot of oddballs this year...

In other news: I put my shoes on the wrong feet this morning. You'd think after nearly 3 decades I'd learn my left from my right, but no.

abs, enjoy the day off...it is snowing pretty good over here right now...i brought an old plow truck home from work...the brake lines are about to give out and the plow pump leaks, but i'm hoping it will save us from shoveling...we have one neighbor with a steep downhill driveway and i told them i would try to plow them as well...this should be an adventure!...

marilee, you never get snow days in az, do you?...lol...sarah just texted me and said she was jealous cuz she misses the snow...

i also have my generator all ready to go...hope we don't need it!

It's 5am here in Hinsdale. I just looked out the back door at the picnic table to survey the accumulation. We went from no snow on the lawn to what looks like at least 2 feet. Ugh. Let the shoveling begin. Fortunately we still have power too.

Phew! Shoveled a path around the house and the garage, down the 100 foot drive. Then got on the roof to get the snow off the edges and the vents so it won't ice up and then back up. Fortunately DH was able to get the snow blower going so he got the drive all clear so we are no longer snowed in.

FF and Tony, what going on in your neck of the woods?

Vicki, thanks for checking on us. I am thrilled we have power. Many people do not in New England. In New Hampshire I heard only a handful of homes do not have power. your latest avitar

Britt, are you totally off the eggs today?

Marilee, hope when they find all your lovely patio plants in good shape in March.

Well, time for another cup of coffee! Have a great Saturday Blitzers!

abi, there's a lot more snow on the ground than when i went to bed, but i think we'll stay inside for awhile, if not until it stops snowing...still coming down pretty good...we still have power, but the generator is ready to go!...

it was about 1 a.m. the last time i cleared the deck...it really is pretty out there...i like that we take such a big storm in stride here in new england... :-)

did you say you climbed on your roof???????????????????????/

snow is about over, for now, in Bklyn, USA

administration was most compassionate yesterday. they allowed those of us not in patient care to go home at 2 pm (with pay). I made a commitment to an infomercial purchase. Nothing against my Ronco, but it was a ***** getting a turkey tied on the spit rods. Also, the removable parts were and are impossible to clean. So, I shall be getting SHARPER IMAGE'S Super
Wave Oven(self-cleaning). With the shipping and handling of all the freebies that come with it, I should be in it for no more than $210.00 I also do not want to throw out the Ronco, but there is no room for both. And, even the Salvation Army won't take a unit encrusted with souvenirs of previous meals. I DID get my $$$ worth out of it, over the past 4 years, so no complaint. More later. I am going into the living room for some FM classical music adventures, incl the afternoon Metopera-L'Elisir D'amore (the Elixir of Love)by Gaetano Donizetti. F-35 more work hours to go-F

Gosh FF, it really is hitting me now that you have less than a week to go! They are really going to miss you at the hospital especially your wit. Now did you actually give that infomercial company your credit card number? lol Hope you enjoy all your future adventures in cooking up a storm. (not a snow storm)

Hope you guys up in the snow are fairing well! I'd love snow, I think I've only seen it twice since 1988 (when we moved from Alaska to Arizona). A few Christmases ago we got a wicked cold streak through Phoenix which resulted in snow flurries throughout the day. I was super confused when it started coming down, having never SEEN snow fall.

I just popped a round of cream cheese muffins in the oven. Excited to chill them and try them out. I'm predicting awesomeness. I added a little lemon zest and a bit more vanilla than called for.

Made a tray of sausages this morning, intending to have a few with some scrambled eggs, but ended up bobbing around the house aimlessly, nibbling on the sausages here and there. Now I have 3 left out of a tray of about 14... where did they goooo???

Saturday is about to start with one of my Favorite movies which just popped up on Netflix, About Adam. Step one, refill coffee cup...

Have a great Saturday friends!!!

Up on the rooftop la, la, la

Yes, Tony. Fortunately the pitch on the roof is not very steep. There is still ALOT of snow still up there. I may need to shovel some more off before it rains in afew days and freezes.

Well, Tony, if it was climbing up a ladder the snow would still be up there. lol We have stairs to an upper level over our garage which has a window at the top. If you go out the window you can step out onto the roof of the mudroom which connects the garage to the house. So I climb out on it and then up onto the roof. Don't forget I'm a nut! We five kids take after my Dad on things like this. If it needs to get done and there is no one else available to do it - you just do it. We are a bunch of tough Vermonters. Well, ex vermonters, only one left actually living in Vermont.

Thinking about making Linda Sue's low carb lasagna again. It's been long enough since I got sick of eating it. It actually sounds good again.

What is everyone doing today? Vicki, when is your ww meeting again?

Have a great Sunday Blitzers!

omg, abs, you are nuts!!!...actually, i have the same attitude and do the same kinds of things, but when i see it in others, i know it's crazy :-) and we are not as young as we used to be!...if you followed me the past few days and saw what i am doing on a replaced hip, you'd cringe like i am cringing now...haha!

hi vicki!...how's the move coming along?...when are you gonna see auntie marilee again?

haven't been to the gym in three days - skipped 2 to give my body a rest and it was closed yesterday due to the storm...so, i WILL be there today and will undergo my most rigorous workout yet...i'll decide exactly what to do once i get there...

so many leftovers in the fridge that i won't be cooking today...

i'll check in later...abi is getting ready to eat her eggs now... :-)

Tony, packing some more today. That will be about the end of it except for those items we are still using. Friday is moving day.

I don't know when we will see each other again (Marilee and I). My grandpa, her dad, is turning 100 in Sept. She will probably be going to that, I doubt I will since my son is getting married this year in November in FL of which we will be flying to and I will be using my personal leave time for that.

vicki, work won't give you enough leave to do both things?...those are pretty special events :-)

i just got back from my most stringent workout at the gym and the time off didn't seem to hurt - maybe because of all the shoveling i did the past two days...i used an incline of 3% for 5 minutes of my treadmill walk and then did the elliptical and stair climber for the first time ever, in addition to the weight machines...

as i get in better shape, it is getting harder to get my heart rate above 130 to get a good cardio workout on the treadmill as i am not allowed to actually run...oh well, these are all steps in the right direction...

just had a little leftover chinese for my first meal of the day, along with a lot of water...i was sweating pretty good today!

I enjoyed my usual bacon and eggs at the backside yesterday just in case you were wondering about that Tony.

I did make Linda Sue's spinach lasagna yesterday and I am back liking it again. lol

FF, you are really doing the countdown now! Will they have a nice retirement party for you Friday? Just think, a week from now you can sleep until noon!! When do you expect to get your Wave oven?

Marilee, you were up late last night! Watching something good on tv? We never go to the movies or rent any but we did see two on tv this weekend which was fun. We watched Mission Impossible 3 and Ocean's Eleven.

I have a good friend on Cape Cod who lost power friday night. I worried about her and her dog and 3 cats all Sat. night. When I called her yesterday at 1pm she still did not have power. I told her to e-mail me as soon as she had some good news. Right after we hung up the phone rang and it was my friend saying the power had just come back on! I was so happy.

Boy, Vicki, you sure have a busy year ahead of you! Maybe you can visit your grandpa during your summer vacation from school. At 100 years old he deserves more than one celebration!

Wishing everyone a great Monday!

Life HAS been weird, since I arrived on this world of yours!

However, it is super-weird lately. I do not have a credit card. A friend of mine orders it, and I give him cash. It was impossible for me to walk, this weekend, w/o risking broken bones. i had to take car service everywhere I went. One advantage to being retired, is that i can postpone going where i need to go, until it is safe to walk. I accomplished nothing anyway, there were no shirts in my size in the big man store, and the barber was closed all weekend long. It was however a great almost 2 hr episode on Downton Abbey last night. Next week is the season 3 final episode. I have a funny feeling it will be going into season 4, at least.Food-wise, I shall be using my turkey raincheck card (if i did not already misplace it)and baptise the new Super Wave Oven by cooking a turkey, when it comes. I opted not to take the freebies because the shipping and handling would have put it over the top, and they were redundant. i already have the Magic Bullet, so i did not need the blender. I already have the Ronco knife set, so I did not need the free knives. It totalled $195. 54. I will pay my friend today. I will consider this my retirement gift to myself. F-35 more work hours to go-F

well, well, well...we are in the final days of ff's full-time workweeks...i think at some point, ff, it would be nice and certainly interesting if you provided a narrative of your career...maybe a few specifics of what you have done for work there, highlights, etc...i know i would enjoy hearing about it...

abs, bacon and eggs???!!!...really?...so, it's looking like february might be linda sue's lasagna and pork rind month?...i love teasing you!

it's snowing here right now, which i prefer to the rain they are predicting...

nothing in the fridge, so it's time to hit the market...no idea what i'm making for dinner...emmy is coming home for dinner tomorrow night and has requested her mom's mac and cheese - i'll make something to go along with it...

only one pt session this week and it's tomorrow...hope everyone has a great monday!

actually, Tony, it was not really exciting.

for most of the time, i was a desk jockey, with a computer in my face. For a few years, I was a registration clerk in the ER. Fortunately, that came to an end in June of 1989, and I got my desk jockey position back. during the times when overtime was available, I was able to spend my non-work time at the opera and concert halls at Lincoln Center. Then Overtime came to a screeching halt. I had maxed out my credit card, and it took me quite some time to make things right financially. Now you know why I do not want a credit card. i have not had one for about 20 years, nor do i want one. I survived. FF

It's a little chilly, barely rainy, almost foggy by the mountains this morning. Made for the type of drive to work that makes you want to turn back around and take the day off. Wish my office had windows. I have only a great view of the carpet.

I contemplated doing the egg fast again this week, but there's just too much food that will go bad if I ignore it and commit to eggs.

How are all the snow-ins getting along? Any crazy stories??? A few friends of mine have been posting pictures of their buried cars on facebook all weekend, I can't imagine actually being there!

Another weekend stuck ON plan *pat self on the back* But no further losses yet. Boy says he can tell I'm shrinking though, he's seen me thru a bit of yo-yo-ing and notices it in my face and my hips first

B: Cup of coffee, a go girl energy drink, and a cold piece of bacon
L: Deli turkey, bacon, a cheddar stick, cucumbers and ranch (I'm going to make a roll up of sorts with the turkey bacon and cheese. AND I'll probably end up dunking it in the ranch. I love home made ranch )
D: We'll see where the wind takes me

Happy Monday All!!!

Tony I used my Ninja to mix this...

8 oz softened cream cheese
1 egg
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/4 cup sweetener (I use sweet & low so I used a bit less than 1/4 cup)

Pour into greased muffin tin semi filling 6 cups. This has just under 2 carbs per muffin. Bake on 350 for 20 minutes. Let them set for a bit after taking out of the oven, then chill. The tops will "fall" or concave slightly that is normal. Muffins come out very dense and have a cheesecake quality to them. Not good straight from oven, definitely chill them.

This was the first time making these and I thought they made for a pretty tasty munchies morsel. I've read a lot of variations using da vinci or torrani SF syrups in place of the sweetener, or adding fruit. If you use an extra egg it comes out a bit more quiche like so you could add vegetables or meats in that case too.

Over all- I didn't care for the spongey texture (which I could reduce by not baking for as long), and I would reduce the amount of sweetener further for future batches, but I did like these enough to make again, as is, and also experiment to make them even more delicious.
