Hi Angie
I am using glutamine for carb cravings... Or I should say I was. I've been sick for a week and stopped taking my supplements but I'm happyntomreport no cravings... No appetite either so that maybe the issue

I started using glutamine during induction and I think it made things easier for me.

Day 11/30 and a binge.

My brain: I don't want any meat, cheese, or salad I want ice cream and salty crunchy junk food. It will really fill you up.

Me: If you eat that stuff it will taste good for a few short minutes and then you'll be stuffed and feel regret. You will ruin all your progress in a few short minutes. Your workout today will be wasted and your jeans are finally fitting again.

My brain: So what, it is what you are craving so eat it!

This brain/me thing goes back and forth for about an hour or so with many rationalizations coming from both sides all while I am trying to relax on the sofa while reading a book.

Me: Okay- gets in car drives to grocery store buys a pint of starbucks coffee ice cream, box of chocolate peanuts, choc. pretzels, and a container of nutter butter cookies. Open the cookies in the parking lot and has them almost eaten before getting back home. Get home grab a spoon eat the ice cream and everything else I bought in no time flat.

My brain: Ha ha! Made you do it nah nah nah nah

Me: Yep you feel like shi* and it only tasted good for a few short minutes. No surprise there!

Oh Jeanie. that is exactly how it goes for me too!! Unbelievable that we will drive to the store and buy our "drugs". And of course you feel horrible afterwards! I'm so sorry your struggling
Have you read the diet cure? Might be worth it. Not a miracle by any means but it did help

Things that help me-
not having stuff in the house although I am not above driving to the supermarket in order to feed the monster.

Yo cheese! This stuff is a god send.

got me thru the first few weeks

High fat. I will have blueberries with heavy cream as a snack

Lastly I am just tired of this crazy ride. I want to stop the craziness. I feel like this is my last shot. I've done it 3 times before and fallen back into old patterns. I'm getting too old to fool with my health. I want to enjoy retirement with my husband. Actually I'm afraid of dying young because of this madness

Me too! Had my physical today high BP and a fast pulse. Plus have to have some scaly spots on my hands checked by dermatologist. If I keep playing with fire I am gonna get burned- strong family history of type 2 diabetes and heart disease in my family. In fact, some of my younger siblings already have type 2.

I think I will definitely buy some L-glutamine and see how it goes!

Jeanie --> I fully understand that exact conversation! It is crazy how much power sugar/carbs have on the brain to rationalize it. You can win though -- one day at a time!

Lisa --> I also am sick and tired of this cycle. I just want to feel normal and get on with my life. Not wake up bloated or going through withdrawal from sugar.

I am starting Lean for Life -- and today was day 1 of protein days . Stuck to plan! -- I am praying this plan will work and I can finally get this weight off for good!

Jeannie, so sorry! I've had that happen to me way too many times to count. I don't have to go to the store...it's all right here as my DH doesn't have to watch his weight at all.

I think you should count all the days during the month that you have been successful and celebrate that! It's a one day at a time thing.
