Keep at it! Someone on the main lobby binge thread said "fight the fight". I love that. Every day is a battle, but it does get easier.

Jeanie. As u know, I have issues with anxiety too. Carbs were my medication of choice (just as some choose alcohol I guess). Nothing could calm me down better than a sleeve of oreos It took/takes some white knuckling for sure and some active dialog with myself to avoid turning back to that crutch.
At the risk of sounding corny, yoga/meditation has been helpful. There are still times I want to grab an entire red velvet cake and lock myself in my room- but I have the extra added bonus of now having to worry about my health. I'm not sure if that is what keeps me off the carbs (I'm really afraid of this high blood pressure thing) or a combination of fear and yoga and just feeling in control.
I guess we all have to find our own motivation. Fear works for me - as crazy as that may sound. I guess my anxiety is working for me rather than against me.
I am always 1 slip away from disaster. If I fall off the wagon, I fall far and long...fear of that free fall is also keeping me on track
One day at a time ...

Thanks Lisa I know that the carbs do have a calming effect but so not worth the other issues that come about when I binge on them!

Hi everyone, Great going everyone,

They have been coming around this past week with a cart of goodies. Luckily, the have slim jims too. I take my share and then include them as part of my lunch when I weigh & measure my proteins. But stay away from the sweets andother things that aren't lart of my foodplan.

One day at a time, binge free

I had a binge yesterday and I don't think it makes any difference if I count binge-free days, so I will not be counting anymore. Good luck everyone!

20/30

2/3 of the way there! Close call tonight hubby was buying candy and also grabbed a bag of sweet & salty trial mix and offered to get it for me, he knows I love that stuff it has almonds, pretzels, shortbread cookies and m&m's in it. I really like that stuff, but I was able to think through how I would feel after eating it and was able to resist. I also am feeling really leaned out in my stomach and wearing more of my old clothes so didn't want to regain any of my hard won losses.

Fantastic, Jeanie. There is no better feeling than resisting that ugly urge.
Great about being able to wear clothes that were tight before

Glad u resisted! Maybe u could ask your husband not to offer those types of things to you? That temptation seems so difficult especially in the early days of trying to eat clean
Wonderful feeling getting into clothes that were too snug😄. Keep up the good work!!

Yeah hubby doesn't get it at all! He just thinks you want a snack you eat so what is the big deal. He can eat candy and stop I can't!

I think sometimes husbands and family members do it out if habit.

It might also a game to them. They want to see if this is a real lifestyle change and throw tempting things our way as a gauge. My hubby has given up as has my boss coworkers, friends and family because they know I do what I do no matter what.

My boss will come will around with the snack cart and look at me and say "Oh you can't have this, right?" Or she'll ask me if I want to smell the chocolate? And I wil say that I can have it but choose not to. Recently, she started stocking Slim Jims. So I take a couple and let her know I will save it for next day's lunch when I can make it of my protein.

Thanks! I think I am finally able to hang on due to the fact that I have seen progress in my weight loss and am feeling so much better. It is far easier for me to give up and keep restarting when I repeatedly binge and therefore make no progress.. if that makes sense!

Only the Gaba on occasion. It helps a little but makes me lethargic ,so I avoid it unless my anxiety can't be quelled by exercise or other distractions. I have seen a connection between the hot flashes and the anxiety, I get this knot in my stomach and then feel anxious right before each flash.

The flashes are wicked for me too. My sisters are in their late 60s and still having them. That does not bode well for me

Jeanie- how long did it take you to lose appetite for carbs? What are your menus like?

It took about two weeks or so, I still get the occasional urge or craving but they aren't all consuming. Meat, fish, shrimp, hard boiled eggs and sometimes a protein shake. Small amounts of lettuce for meat salad. Occasionally I will have 1/4-1/2 of an italian herb flatout wrap, I am careful with those because I get bloated from wheat, they are a nice change when I want something a little different.

Sounds good. I will be abstaining from the social media sites such as this for the next few weeks. Need a break. Wishing you all the best.

Crazy dream

Or nightmare

I cheated. I went crazy with chocolate iced coffee cake ( is there even such a thing??). It fell on the floor and I picked it up and ate it anyway! I remember thinking I was going to have to come on here and post that I was starting over at day 1. I also remember thinking that I was going to eat all kinds of crap before I restarted

What the heck??? Even my subconscious is a binger?
I am under a lot of stress lately but really- turning to food in my dreams is just crazy
