Yesterday had sugar at every meal but not a binge. Went to bed worried about dying in my sleep. Feeling guilty like I sinned. How does food get to be so powerful and twisted in our lives? Everything I ate was made and given in love with food created and provided by God. The choices made yesterday were not the best for daily good health but okay on occasion. I need to put aside the kind of self judgement that leads to the anxiety and the binge.

Cici, just curious, why did you choose to ave sugar? What was the big occasion x 3? This represents no judgement. Just curius.

cici, anxiety might be partly psychological but my view is that is it also physiological (and it's hard if not impossible to separate the two). So it may be that the sugar is contributing to your anxiety. That's my experience with alchohol to a large degree and food to a lesser degree.

Also, I am wondering if you can have a high fat/protein/low carb snack on hand so you don't have to turn to the oatmeal in the evening. Apologies if you've already tried this strategy, but I find a low carb choice in the evening, if I must snack, to the be the better choice.

Like Mary, I am not judging, just curious.

There are ways to make cheesecake totally edible. I can get you a recipe if you are interested. There wouldn't be an aftershock from the sugar high.

It was a gift. Not a regular thing. Sugar is not my binge trigger but it does change the brain chemistry for sure.

I ate more this weekend too and I added an order of sweet potato fries and had a few drinks. I noticed some anxiety and feeling a little down. I'm not sure if it was the food or circumstances that had me just slightly off kilter. I ate on plan, no binging but I ate more food than I normally do interesting....

Made it 6 days.

Today is my day off so I think I am gonna make some meals and freeze. Got on the scale yesterday and I have gained 22 pounds since Christmas. *sigh*. Here's something interesting I realized. I write down my weight weekly. I noticed that I weigh the same as I did exactly a year ago. Then I remembered that the time before when I lost weight I started at this same time. I lose until Christmas when I go to see my family (I only see them once a year) and then I eat like there's no tomorrow. So then I am so off the wagon that it takes me all this time to get back on track. I am hoping just being aware of this pattern will help me stop this yo yo.

Hi everyone
Good to see the thread active again. I am not doing well at all food wise. I am not sure what to do about it and don't like to come in and post all my failures, but I do keep reading here and am happy to see the successes.

Jeanie. I know how you feel, sweetie. When I am in binging mood, I don't like to post about it. I usually use my journal for it. I don't think that's correct. This thread is for support after all. We should not be only posting when we are doing well. So come on it, Jeanie. Post any time. We are here to support you and understand your struggles.
One day at the time, Jeanie!

Jeanie, I am only eating meat, fish, eggs, fats. Nothing else. I have no cravings whatsoever. In fact today was my DD and I only had 410 cal. I will try to do this for about 10 days and than will slowly add some veggies.

Jeanie, how about fish?
Maybe you can try to making a new recipe, something that you really really enjoy. You can use any seasoning and be liberal with the fats. But if really don't enjoy meat and eggs, that would not work I guess

I do like fish baked with Parmesan cheese that would work. Do you plan out your meals ahead of time or do you just wing it?

Hi Lisa, thanks for your support 7 days down!

Jeanie, I hate to post here when I fail, but if I keep it in I am even worse off. Please keep posting. Maybe trying some of the recipes here would help. Today I made food for the week. I am hoping it will help me stay on track. Maybe that would be good for you? Keep your chin up

Jeanie- I usually plan my meals ahead of times. I don't want to be caught up with nothing prepared when I am hungry. There is nothing worst for me than coming home and not having my food prepared or at least half prepared as I end up eating something off plan. The egg & meat is the easiest thing for me, as there is not much preparation. I can do full days of eggs if I don't feel like cooking meat. I can do boiled eggs, scrambled, sunny side up, omelets, or hard boiled eggs with mayo. I just have to make the mayo and I am good to go. I think the key is to make something that you like.

Marika, I agree with you. Last weekend I prepared two vegetable dishes. One was eggplant pealed and diced sauteed with oonions, mushrooms, garlic and tomatoes. It goes well with any protein dish. Te other is an experiment. I found a bag of g
Fresh greens, collard, mustard and turnip greens at Trader Joe's, so I cooked them with mustphrooms, onion and garlic. I fugure I can alternate them with chicken, tofu or fish. And then make a fresh salad to accompany.

I am binge free and never have to experience the pain and anguish of detoxing from the sugar/grain/alcohol posions again, so long as I don't take the first compulsive bite. You have probably heard the expression, one bit is too much and a thousand is never enough.
