Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone. And Lisa I will take you up on the yelling and screaming. I got on the scale after going a week without weighing and I've hit another gain-back high. Passed one of those dreaded, promised myself I'd never see again, zero ending numbers. Well, I'm back to step one. Time to spend an hour rereading my diet book and hopping back on the "i'm serious" train.

Can anyone help me with my profile picture? I downloaded it and when I go to edit profile picture my picture shows up but it doesn't seem to show up in my posts. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

You don't want a profile pic---you want to do an avatar pic. When you go into user control panel, you have to click on "edit avatar". Upload it there.

We all need a place to feel safe. So glad you started this thread, Jeanie. I have decided to not restrict this week while I just focus on good nutrition. THis alone should keep me off the binge path. I will have to figure out weight loss later.
Day 2 here. |

Choosing to post in a profile pic will cause it to not show up on posts, only in your profile. You have to go into edit avatar picture. That will show up in your posts. Hope this clears it up for you. |

Thanks for the help getting a profile picture loaded. Took me a while but I think I got it. Considering that I just started this yesterday it sure didn't take me long to mess up. I didn't plan dinner, ended up running late, and got distressingly easily talked into going out for dinner. I didn't exactly blow it at dinner but I sure wasn't a "day 1" quality eater. Oh well, today is a new day. Plan those meals, Elaine!!!!

Hi I'm back again.
This is the end of day 2 for me. I had to get on the boards and check it out, because I'm starting to want what I don't need... ![]() |

Did MUCH better yesterday. Planned my meals in advance and didn't have any trouble sticking to it. I sure wish I would go into ketosis fairly soon. Life is so much easier once I do that. I've done Atkins off and on since college but it seems to me it takes much more work to get and to stay in ketosis. Is anyone else finding that to be the case?

How is everyone doing? Day 2 for me.
I have a new strategy I have decided that I am not going to allow myself to binge, plain and simple! Sounds like a no-brainer to some I am sure, but I think it just may work. |

I'm new here.
Hi all! I am new to this site and am really exited to have some support. I am 37 and have T2 diabetes and fibro. I have been off and on low carb diets for the past 19 years. I tend to be very very slow with the weightloss and have to just focus my efforts on eating healthy and having good blood sugars. I tried a food allergy elimination diet for three weeks starting Dec 26. Then immediately started bingeing and eating every carb I could find. Bingeing ruins everything for me. I can undo 2-3 months of weightloss in 3-4 days (easily). I am also a sugar addict and really dread having to cut sugar out for good. The good thing is that I want to get heathy. I am mostly ready to start and I think this forum will really help. Thank you.

Day 1
Thanks Lisa! Today I begin. No bingeing and no sugar -one day at a time. Going into induction phase. Will plan meals and grocery shop today. I'm going to make a veggie beef soup for dinner. One of my fave recipes!

Hi, Jenise! Hi, everybody! Good to see you all plugging right along. I backed off of the internet a bit the past couple days. Actually find a strange stress from too much thread following that will trigger eating. Maybe because the focus here is food or eating or not eating, you know what I mean. Anyway, I think today is day 4 or 5 for me but haven't checked back.
I am following Perfect Health Diet thread for my eating guidelines which is pretty well rounded and moderate and figuring about 80% adherence without stressing myself over minutia. The most important thing at this point is remaining calm with regards to food. I am aiming for calories at my BMR rate or below if it happens naturally. Staying away from triggers which for me are grains particularly wheat, some dairy, alcohol, sugar and sugar substitutes. Also trying to keep my GL low which just means smaller portions of some safer starches or fruit along with meals. So far, this is both satisfying and calming. After breakfast and lunch, I generally have about 500 calories left. It really works out fine for my appetite but my head gets a little bit afraid of evening hunger which I used to have big time. However, I am sleeping better the past few days so apparently the three meals without a late snack is working. Really hoping this trend continues. It seems important to not think too much about it.
