I've lost approximately 6 lbs in 6 wks (give or take), so in approximately 6 more wks, Vday, I hope to have lost at least 6 more, but would love to have 10 lbs (from Jan. 2) off.

See you 1-2-13!

BTW, the water classes don't start till the middle of Jan so I'll have to do extra until then.
Wow, that definitely counts as "extra," Wildflower! Very impressive! I'll have to remember your example of consciously using my core muscles during the 5 minutes it takes to shovel my front steps (and of course had better do more exercise on top of that). You are setting a great example for the rest of us!

What a great group of people we have here--and lots of variety, in terms of experience JUDDDing and goals. I'm really looking forward to hearing from everyone over the next 6 weeks.

WOE: Chris Powell's Carb Cycling
Start Date: 9/16/13
Goals for V-Day
- Be under 220
- Stick to rotations --after NYE there is nothing happening so there shouldn't be any excuses.
- By the end of 6 weeks have a regular exercise routine in place
- Measure every 2 weeks --I'll do the first of them on the 1st.

What a great idea! Inches can be lost even when pounds aren't.

Goals:

-- Stick to my numbers (429 DD, 2146 UD)
-- Work on exercise tolerance on my Total Gym (currently tapped at 8 min, which is pathetic and also seems to bring on muscle cramps)...will take anything approaching 30 min/week by V Day
-- Weight goal: 225

I am not usually motivated by challenges but will give it a try. This is my plan.

Now to 1/2/13 700/1700 tapering off carbs.
1/2 add NK
1/6 - 600/1700
1/13 - 500/1800
Continue through V day

Hi, Cici. I'm glad you are joining us! Sounds like a good plan, and I hope you find this challenge motivating.

Just one little cautionary note: It took me several weeks to get comfortable (i.e., not really hungry a lot of the time) doing nutritional ketosis by cutting back my protein levels. If you find that very difficult, you might consider cutting back protein gradually over several weeks. Maybe it will be easier for you, though, or maybe you do best just getting through difficult transitions all at once--whatever works for you. I changed things in slow stages: first going lowcarb, then going lowcarb/NK, then going lowcarb/NK plus JUDDD, but that's certainly not the only way to do things.

I guess we'll all be evaluating our goals as we go along--and relaxing, rotating, and rejoicing along the way. I'm sure the support and advice from others here will help all of us over the next 6 weeks.

Hope you start 2013 fully virus-free, Rayne. I hope in the interim you can fit in extra sleep, staying well hydrated, and some good chicken soup, to help you get better.

, fellow JUDDDers who will be starting at the beginning of 2013.

Wildflower, you are going to be my role model. I thought of you this morning when I did the Jane Fonda Prime Time upper body workout before work, and when I shoveled the snow off my front steps. (Admittedly, my shoveling job only took two minutes, since I've only got 4 steps. )

Have a great day, everyone. Mine started out with my weight being down another pound, so I'm happy. I'm hoping to celebrate Valentine's Day in the 170s and within sight of being "overweight" rather than "obese."

That's a great goal, mom23kids--and what a deal! I'm sure you'll look great in those size 8 jeans by Valentine's Day.

I hope you feel better soon. There are a lot of bugs going around right now; practically every friend and co-worker I have is sick with some form of a cold right now.

Oh thank you I have the Jane Fonda Fit and Strong -- need to get that out. So, did you hold in your core doing those 4 steps like you said you would! I wasn't down a pound just a few ounces, but the way I ate yesterday, I glad it wasn't up!

Hope you feel better soon. Sinus infections hurt...ouch. What a buy on jeans - that's awesome! I don't remember ever wearing a size 8 -- 10 was as low as I got. Great goal!!

BTW, yesterday's snow shoveling made me so sore - my back is hurting a bit - guess I'm a bit out of shape! And we're supposed to get 2"-4" over night. Better take some advil!

Sure, , Truffles. Feeling and looking great for your vacation trip sounds like a great goal, so stick with us until then, and join us again when you come back (and tell us all about the great time you had in St. Maarten). [Where's the emoticon for "I'm so jealous ..."? ]

Oops, forgot about holding in my core during the shoveling. But I'll have lots more chances to practice that this winter.

Every time tells Jane that I should suck in my stomach or not arch my back or not bend my elbow or whatever, I realize that I was doing it wrong. Well, I guess those DVDs get easier with practice. I have the Jane Fonda Fit and Strong, too; I have to try out the easy version of that workout this weekend. So we can be each other's role model for that.

my V-day goals

this is great... exactly what I need after a week derailed with visiting two sets of families (tempermental... half temper, half mental ) and mega-food... I am half "that was yummy " and half "ugg , let me back to my fruit and veg and healthy food".

my goals:
1. 90% adherence to rotations of 3 UDs, 3 DDs, 1 MD (2000, 500, 1250) (= 4 days non-calorie-counting, that is, freestyle but not nec. UUAAD UDs)
2. 90% adherence to my optimal workout schedule (3 x 45 spin classes, and 3 x 40 min HIIT/weights in my basement)
3. no UUAADs... nip em in the bud and keep it to UD
4. weigh 146 or less by V Day (which means losing whatever I gained this past week AND my normal .75 lb/week)

reward: dinner out with BF, in a sweet Marilyn-Monroe-esque red dress that I have not worn in about 3-4 years and BF loves
