So glad everyone is doing well with their goals. Awesome job everyone!

I went to my 60 minute water class at the Y. Today was Pi-Yo-Chi. Stretching and slow pilates, yoga and ai chi movements in shallow water. It feels sooo good. A great way to end the week!

WTG everyone!! I still haven't begun to walk! I may decide to ride my stationary bike since I have trouble getting out the door!

I've been doing the potato hack the past 3 days & I'm down 6 & 1/2 lbs!!!! I guess a lot of that was water! I did seem to be bloated a few days. Today is an UD & I had mexican food for lunch & only coffee with sugar free swiss mocha. I did something I've never done before........I ordered a lunch meal(it's smaller), instead of off the regular menu & then when my meal came, I asked for a to-go box. I put 1/2 my food in it then, finished off everything else! I've never had that kind of "will power" before! Made me feel really good! I'm probably going to do potatoes the rest of the day. Not sure yet!

I took yesterday as a rest day. Today, there aren't any good classes at the gym during my off time. I'll either take another rest day today or maybe do Wii Just Dance 4 with the kidlet. That's fun, and we laugh like crazy doing it. She's 8 and she beats me every. single. time!

Wow, Shari, I'd say that willpower should count as an important non-scale victory. Way to go! and congratulations on the 6.5 pounds down. What a rewarding whoosh after your potato hack! Makes me tempted to try that, but I'm still nervous about whether I could handle potato carbs.

Thanks sven! I didn't think the potato carbs would work for me either in the beginning. And the first time I did the hack, I didn't count calories. I just ate to fullness. That was a really BAD idea! I didn't lose much at all. So, I learned that eating to calories would probably work for me & it has. Maybe there's hope for me yet! We'll see how I do tomorrow since I had something other than potatoes today.

Thanks for the advice about potato hacking, Shari. I know I should read through the potato hack thread(s) on the JUDDD section, but they are dauntingly long, so I've been putting that off. So have you been doing JUDDD rotations on potatoes? I am sure that I could keep my calories down to DD levels on potatoes, but I think it must be hard to eat up day calories on potatoes (unless I add a bunch of fat to the potatoes).

I hope that the rest day helps your fingers heal, Dawn. Looking at the picture of you and Keira, I can imagine the two of you doing the Wii Dance. So sweet!

Sven, I've been doing JUDDD rotations on potatoes. My last UD, I had 2 fried eggs in the morning, then, finished the day with both yukon golds & sweet potatoes. I came a little over 300 calories shy of my calorie allotment. I think because I ate mexican food for lunch today, I may be closer to my calories for an UD. I don't add a lot of fat to my potatoes. But, I love adding the queso sauce to them. And there's only 2.5 grams of fat in a serving.

Thanks, Shari, that's very helpful. I think I'll try a potato hack weekend, sometime soon, and see how it goes. (Not this weekend, since I have to have dinner at a restaurant with a friend.) I normally get most of my calories from fat, since I limit both carbs and protein, and I could easily eat fat plus potatoes ... I just don't want to undermine the hack by throwing in too much fat. I guess I have to accept that we are all our own science experiment and see what happens (with fat added and without fat added). Good luck with the rest of your potato hack; I hope it continues to work well for you.

I will be watching with interest. What kind of numbers do you think would work without going out of ketosis? Since starting NK, the very idea of a potato scares me, though I do love them.

Here to weigh in...

Valentines Day goal weight ~ 184

12/27 ~ 194.8
1/2 ~ 193.6
1/11 ~ 196.2

1.4 up, 12.2 to go

I feel like such a loser, this month is not going well with my scale! I'm really hoping it's just cuz I'm getting close to tom and because I started working out this week and have been all sore... Either way, I'm continuing on... Hopefully in a week I will have a huge whoosh...

Kismet, Sorry I missed giving you congrats & yesterday for your loss at TOPS. I'm jealous.

Melanie, you're not alone. There's quite a few of us JBs here that are hoping and praying to also see a whoosh on the scale soon...like sometime before V-Day, would be terrific. Please!

I'm planning to go outside for a walk today in the gorgeous 62 degree Jan. thaw.

Hope for much joy & progress this weekend for you all!

Which walking video are you using? I use Jane Fonda's Primetime Walkout; I know a lot of people like Leslie Sansome (sp?) walking videos.
I have tapes for home use but I needed a DVD to use at work so I went to our little tiny local Wal-Mart and bought the only Leslie Sansome DVD they had. It has a different walking routine for each day of the week which I think is nice. It is called the Ultimate 5 Day Walk PLan.

I also have a ttapp walking video but can only do it at home since it is a tape.

Even though it is a weekend I WILL do a walking exercise video today. Since the scale has dropped down below my maintenenace weight I am pumped to keep it dropping.

Did my 30 min of callanetics. Hope to get the dogs out later for their walks. They've been wanting to go the last few days -but it's been raining and I'd have to drag them to walk. Such babies!!!

Well, I got my three days in Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. I didn't end up doing anything last night. DH took Keira to a hockey game. I was supposed to go, but forgot, and then I was too tired. 2 rest days in a row, and higher calories got me a whoosh.

Melanie, I think it's totally the exercise. It'll balance out eventually.

I won't be able to exercise today either as I have two parties to go to, one of them my own (jewelry party), so I'll try to hit the gym tomorrow at some point.

Drive by post here. You guys are doing so great! I am just in awe of being part of such a lovely, driven, determined group of gals (and any guys lurking out there!).

Yes, Melanie, I mean you too! You are NOT a loser! Not in the sense you're talking about anyway. I have the feeling you'll be a weight-loser in a few days. I know that feeling...it was me a week or so ago. Post holiday, TOM, starting exercise. It'll all come off when it feels like it. You're doing great!

I'm doing pretty good on my pound goal so far. Still struggling to get in my Callanetics as much as I'd like, but I'll make my Vday goal for sure. This weekend will be busy, but with no workout time.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Thanks for the encouragement girls! Weigh-in not so hot again today, woke up with my fingers feeling like sausages, I must have ate a ton of sodium yesterday or something...

Zumba class is done, so accomplished my 3 workouts for this week. I actually have 4 scheduled for next week, so we'll see how that goes!

I counted calories today, so that's a biggie for me! I will not eat another bite today, so here's my stats..

Sat 1/12

calories: 486
fat: 54g
protein:37g
carbs:22g, 4.5 from fiber and 7.6 from sugar. darn mole...

calories burned: 2867, that includes from working out

Hopefully that's somewhat accurate, but logging a boiled chicken breast is such a pain in the butt!

You guys are so motivated. It's really inspiring. The results HAVE to come when we are all working so hard!

My calf muscle is still acting up. I tried to jog a bit today and irritated it. I guess I am limited to walking for a while. Did 3.5 miles today but probably shouldn't have. It hurts. Unless this resolves I am not going to get my 30 Days of Shred in before V Day so am resetting my goals so I don't feel like such a loser. I resolve to do something to move or challenge my body at least 3 times a week and of course to stick to my eating plan.

I did not do my walking tape yesterday BUT I cleaned the barn instead. With all of the raking, shoveling, hauling etc I feel sure it was equivelant to a mile walk.

AND I am down to 142.2 this morning after an UD and my goal was to lose two pounds so technically I have reached my goal already but I will continue to do exercise everyday which was my main goal to be healthier.

Adi, all your barn work burned a lot more calories than a mile walk. You're like the energizer bunny!

Congrats reaching your Jan. goal already, so is the secret eating those spuds? I've been hesitant to try it up to now, although the longer I remain stalled, the more I'm tempted.

I have no idea. I did not do so well JUST eating taters but combined and I am doing good so who knows. I had 1800 calories on my UD yesterday and still dropped so it had to be something to do with my food choices.

Most likely all that barn work you did helped too.

I just can't imagine eating only spuds.

Hi guys

Mel hang in there. The scale bounced back up for me too. I had a very bad upday. It sounds like a lot of water and Tom.

Sven I went and bought all of janes tapes on amazon this morning! I can't wait for them to come in

I don't want to beat myself up but I had an uuuaaad! I am so mad at myself. When am I going to learn that when I eat sugar I can't stop. I get a high from it. Its like i just dont care and keep eating! I talked to dh this morning who is so supportive. I picked myself up and did a walking tape!! Thinking about doing some potatoes today. They seem to calm down my sugar cravings.
Does anyone else get theses feelings after eating sugar?????

Good for you, JKat! I just did Jane Fonda's Prime Time am yoga DVD for the first time (the energy, abs/back, strengthening, and balance segments) and really like that one, too. I know that I'm working out muscles that I usually ignore, because my upper arms and shoulders are a little sore, but it's a good feeling.

I have a lot of trouble with portion control with sugar, or even sweet things like fruit. I keep some of the small Atkins "snack" bars around for when I am really, really craving sweets, but I try not not eat them more often than once a month or so. I do better if I avoid all sweeteners--artificial as well as regular--because I don't trust myself to stop eating them, and they make me crave more sweets and more food, period.

As long as you recognize it, you can do better. I'm glad you aren't beating yourself up. JUDDD is forgiving.

I did my exercise today. I won't make my goal of 5 times a week but it sure is better than what I was doing before.....0. I'll try to do all 5 next week.
