Morning-
Last day of finals for DS15 and we keep looking at the weather for DS19. Hopefully, the forecast is right and the snow/ice/wind... will wait until after his flight leaves. They're supposed to get dumped on this weekend.

I opened my mail this afternoon and now I'm wondering just how much money we had to spend at the local pizza place to get a Christmas card with a $25 gift card enclosed to say "thank you for being a loyal customer."
We usually order when we have extra boys here and I think my name is attached to all of the HS water polo team orders so maybe its because our orders are usually big ones.

Blizzard warning here - everything has closed but the college!

I am responsible for an new student orientation today, so not sure what I am going to do - my other teammates are off, and the fourth is a newbie and even if she made it in, she couldn't do it alone.

I also have a PT appt today and don't think that is going to happen.....and I need it. She won't be available again until next Thursday!

I have seen Jenn post of FB, so I am guessing things are ok?

I texted my Dad a bit ago and they aren't leaving today. They are getting it today plus the worst of it will be tomorrow for them. Thinking they should sit tight and not leave till Saturday.....we will see what they decide. I did have a frank conversation with my Dad the other day.

Stay safe and warm everyone!

Everything stops when it storms here. It doesn't take much snow either.

I have been lazy today. Need a lazy day because the next 5 days will be crazy.

I did put away three baskets of laundry. I cleaned out my sweaters and have a bag to go to thrift shop a few miles away.

I really needed to go do more laundry, folding and iron uniforms. DH comes home tonight.

I better pack for weekend or I could do it morning. It is going to be cold in NYC. Need to remember scarf and gloves.

Just going through my sweaters is an accomplishment. Now if I could do the same with the top of my closet. It is all sweatshirts. I honestly don't know what is underneath. I need a step stool or chair. I don't have a step stool.

Morning-
last day before the break for DS15 AND DS19 will be home tomorrow! I told the owner of the local Mexican takeout place that he had requested food from her restaurant waiting for him when he gets home. DH says call it in and they will pick it up on the way home from the airport so it will be hot when he gets it.

I was really sad to see in our local paper yesterday our last locally owned family run pharmacy is closing at the beginning of the year after 119 years in business. So so sad, but I'm not surprised. He told me a couple of years ago that they were struggling to stay open and the last few times we've been in looking for something their shelves have been pretty empty. Fortunately, we're healthy so we weren't buying meds, but cards, school supplies, that sort of thing. Now we're stuck with only Rite Aid and Walgreens.

Got into work about 7:45; met with our Dean and told him we should cancel orientation - he agreed!!! I called all 20 students.

Then I got real busy as I was the only ASs there today!!! It's our new moniker - Admissions Specialist - or ASs!!!! Then the college closed at noon!!! WOOOOT!

Not sure when the Punits will leave - may be tomorrow, but we will see.....I won't see them till Sunday.

Met with PT - got a massage from her - retaped my arm and told me to get a band.....this is what I ordered on her suggestion:

elbow.jpg

So, I have had lunch, coffee and a piece of mother in laws toffee and biscotti.....think I am going to wrap gifts, work out and take a nap.

My husband is at Minneapolis airport waiting for delayed flight.

No snow here but going to rain.

Errands done.

Meatloaf made for later.

Now packing to go to NYC.

Saw Jenn posted on FB so that's good.

Back to packing.

No harm trying the strap Cindy. They make a similar one for the knee area.

My back is giving me fits right now and I am due to run.
Not sure why accept I ran hard Tuesday night. Usually it is sciatica that gets me. This is my back. I may have been standing too long as I haven't sat much today. Usually standing bothers my back. Sitting causes sciatica.

Aren't we all in fine shape with elbow issues, back issues. Well not the younger shorties.

I may email my running partners and tell them I am hurting then again moving usually makes me feel better.

Hi!

Cindy - I'm wearing this one when i lift

Does yours have the little air pocket in it?
My club has these in stock, so I just picked one up there, but i think every drug store carries them.

I've been wrapping, doing laundry and cooking today.
DD26 and i went to the grocery store too - I convinced everyone that we wanted steaks this year instead of ham - we don't need all the leftovers!!

Debbie - I hope your DH gets out - there's lots of wind and snow up there!

Kelly - your camper is coming home!! Yay!
Enjoy him!!

I have a white one of those similar to the one u posted MK. Mine is called the Bandit. I gt it from an Orthapedic doc about 8 or so ears ago.

I killed my tablet already. It was on, I wet to the bathroom ad came back, it was off. I thought it had powered down and tried to turn it on and nothing. I've tried it a few times and nothing. I'm so Pi$$ed!!!! So, in taking it back for a replacement tomorrow, only had it since Monday. I loved it too!

It's 3:14 and I think in finally tired. Will post more tomorrow.

It is super windy and rainy here. Too warm to snow. DH got home just later.

Too funny the three of you have straps for your elbow.

Becky, what kind of tablet? Did you get Kim the same kind.

I love mynipad but they aren't easy on the wallet. DH now has one so I don't have to share.

Watching Today and seeing the Midwest snow. Cindy, how much did you get?

Hope the weather is OK in NYC the next two days. It will be super windy. Think we will be taking a lot of cabs and not walking.

My back felt fine during my run. I think I stood way too much yesterday ( and the two days before). Standing is bad for me.

Finally Friday! OMGosh was this a long week.
All schools have a two hour delay this morning.
It is BITTER cold now this morning.

I have to text my Dad to tell him what the weather is like here - I think they need to stay put another day.....it's cold and blowing over the northern counties......and the whole UP is under a winter storm warning with treacherous driving conditions....they DON'T need to come today. Besides they are staying in a motel till Sunday anyway!

I had to order that band as Walgreens didn't have the one my PT recommended and I didn't want to wasted the gas all running all over town. DSIL has Amazon Prime and I will get it tomorrow. I will wear it at work, but she said to take it off like at lunch or at home unless I am doing something that involves alot of movement with my arm.

DD23 is struggling at work. Get this: They let everyone go home at 3:30 yesterday and she had to stay. She said it was only like her and three other people that not only had to stay, but that were actually working all day............she said the others were riding around on scooters, screwing around, blasting Christmas music. She said if this is the kind of environment this place is, it's not somewhere she can stay long term. She has put in so much overtime in all week too. I feel so bad for her. Today may not be much better. Then her surviving rattie passed away the other night as well. I think she is going to be glad to get home.

Debbie - have a good trip this weekend - hope the weather is good for your travels.
Kelly - CAMPER #1 is coming home!
Jenn - you need to check in.......I also wonder if you got my St. Nick gift!!
Becky - what kind of tablet did you have?
MK - Steak for Christmas? I would like that - plus I always think how much sodium ham has in it.

Well, time to get going.....may take a bit to get to work today - thankfully, I don't have that far to go, but Friday is usually Starbucks day......so I might have to go even earlier!

Cindy, schools would be closed here. Be careful out there. Yes, your parents should wait another day. Where was management at DD23's job? Hope she gets paid for OT.
How is your other daughter liking her teaching job?

Can't believe I have to work and then drive to Philly tonight.

Better get myself ready for work. I am delaying big time. The ER has been worse then ever. There are 17 nursing positions open in my department.

Morning-
My camper's flight left before the weather had a chance to delay or cancel it. He was flying east to come west which is probably a good thing because he few out of the middle of bad weather for his connection instead of connecting in Chicago or Cleveland or Buffalo.
He emailed his boss and is going to work while he's here too. He has 35 hours this week, but is going to try to trade one of the 8 hour shifts with someone that doesn't have many hours. (he says he'll be happy to have the extra cash in his bank account) He laughed when he looked at the schedule because they have him training new employees.

We had tri-tip last year for Christmas & it was perfect. (we had a ham too) This year we bought a smaller ham and we'll have tri-tip again.

Hi!

Yay Kelly!!!

I need to call DS23 - he should be here by now!

Debbie - drive carefully!!! That's a lot of openings!!! Yikes!

Cindy - crazy about DD!!! Maybe they just get crazy at Christmas!
I ordered Amazon Prime last night about 8:00pm
It arrived here at 2:00pm!!!
Amazing turnaround!!

Poor Rattie! And poor DD!
Apparently I forgot to tell DH that I'd switched from ham to steak!

He and DD28 still want ham, so I told DD we'd have it for her birthday in January!
Or maybe I'll make one for New Year's and give most of it to DS23 to take back!

Becky - Did you take the tablet back? What did they say was wrong with it?
And we're all cripples, aren't we!

I bought the Google Nexus 7 on the 17th and it just shut off last night and wouldn't come back on. They exchanged it with no problem. I got it at staples. I want an iPad so bad. I think in gonna get a 59 giftcard like once or twice a month and save tem up and in about 5-6 months I can get one. I don't want to charge it. I loved the one I got bu I wish it was a little bigger, however it's perfect for my purse and its not too heavy. Geeeeze, I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DOOOOOO!!!!

I have to pick mom up for a funeral tomorrow, we can only got for the visitation cuz Kim has a clent at 1230. My sister in laws brother passed, alcoholism and drugs, he was 2 years younger than I am. He always treated me well tho.

I will be grocer ing early Sunday morning, I've gotten in such a small wedge of time this week for needing to be in other places that I know if I go at prime times I'm gonna be in a mess.

Better run, trying to get the last scarf done.

So glad everyone's campers are coming home/are home.
Mine will be home tonight!!!
Which means it will be like a tornado around here for about a week!

PUnits got to town about 4 yesterday - went to hotel and were going to Olive Garden for dinner. Today they are shopping and going to mass at 4:30. They will come over tomorrow around game time at noon. Asking around - I hear alot of parents stay at hotels when they visit their kids.....less stress for everyone!

DH surprised me last night and took me to my favorite martini bar and then one of my favorite places for dinner - it was amazing! Sigh. The food was so rich though - I was almost ill after dinner.....we had osso bucco and ribeye and shared them and they also had a mushroom bacon risotto that was to die for.

Today I am heading out shortly (7 am) to the grocery store before it gets too busy. Need to go to the bank, clean, and make chili for tomorrow night. This will be the calm before the storm of the next few days.

I think I would love an ipad too Becky but DH says there are so many things he can't do on it, so not sure if I would like it as much as my laptop!

Hope Debbie is having a good time in NYC!
Where is Jenn - she like disappeared from the board!

Hugs to all of you!!!

Oh my! Such a busy week and I see very busy Petite Ladies here!
We had super high winds and on and off blizzardy snow yesterday, making the roads slippery.

Finished up odds and ends and stocking stuffer gifts and got most of the wrapping done during the week. We don't go across state to my mom's until next Saturday, but needed all those gifts done and set aside.

I hadn't had the time to tackle making my cards with all my other Christmas projects in the way, but it's my once a year contact with distant relatives and they usually enjoy my newsy cards. Time was running out, so when I got home from work Thursday I jumped into it.
I managed to design, upload and edit pics, write a newsletter, print, fold, write a personal note, envelope, label and stamp 40 cards I dropped at the post office Friday morning before work.
Took me 7 1/2 hours!
There are some I haven't sent yet (like my Shorties Ladies list and local friends) but the far away relatives who aren't 'online' and don't hear regular news from me have theirs coming.
It was a Christmas miracle.

It's not my weekend to work, but covering for my co-worker tomorrow for her OOT family celebration, then I'm off until Thursday!

I still have to make either Cracker Candy or cookies, or both and have my 'in town' friends and neighbor gifts to deliver tomorrow or Monday.

We plan to go see Les Miz Christmas day and will have hot oil fondue for Christmas dinner since it's a fun and easy meal that all has to be 'pre-prepped' anyway.

Have been so busy I have NOT been watching what I eat, and many carry out meals with no time to cook. My weight is WAY up and really need to nip that in the bud before it gets too out of hand. All my clothes are tight and I have a muffin top from eating too many of my bakery's muffins! It's not my fault they came out with 5 new kinds and I HAD to try them. (FYI, the chocolate ones and cinnamon ones are divine )

Cindy, sorry about the elbow! Ouch! Glad they let you cancel the orientation with the weather so bad.

MK, glad all of your campers are home! What Christmas is all about.

Deb, safe travels to your DH and hope your back feels better. Also jealous of the amazing red dress you wore to the White House. A very special event and you (and DH) looked fabulous!

Kelly, Happy DS just missed the bad weather and got home fine. LOLed about getting a gift from the pizza place for all the huge orders all year!

Becky, picturing you knitting away with sparks flying from the needles! So much fun to have your granddaughters the perfect age for Christmas magic! I saw Santa at the mall yesterday and said 'hi'!

*waves* to Jenn and as well as many 'haven't checked in in a long time' Shorties. Maybe with the 'post holiday back on plan' time (like I HAVE to) we'll get visits!

Must pull some butter out of the fridge and get the dishes/clutter off my counters so I can make some goodie gifts.
Have fun Saturday doing last minute stuff! Hugs all around.

Leaving Philly. Not easy traveling with a 22 month old. Maybe 2 hours to NYC. It is 8.

Cold and windy so we will be taking a lot of cabs.

BIL and SIL coming from Albany. Long Island favorite cousins meeting us at Lord and Taylor's at 1200. Their kids live in NYC. Think we will see one of them. Niece and her girl friend/partner meeting us too. Then there is Rebecca's mom, aunt and brother. I haven't met aunt Ethel. She lives in CT.

I am so happy all your family is safe and arriving home.

Kaye, you get more done then anyone I know making cards, candles, writing notes. Just addressing 40 cards is time consuming. I used to send cards every year.

Still need to buy some gifts. DH will get some things Monday. He is going to Christmas Eve at Mirsa's families. Need gifts for there. I think steak from Omaha steak store.

Isabella is sucking her fingers so maybe she will sleep a little.

Breaking the trip up by leaving from Philly good. Tomorrow will be long though.

Debbie, it sounds like Don is excited for Timrs Square! I haven't checked his fb yet to see if they have done it yet.

Cindy, sparks doesn't begin to describe what's flying from my needles tonight! I forgot the button today so maybe I can stop and get it before I get my mom tomorrow.

I'm so stoked for Christmad Eve morning. I have some cool gifts for them!

Better get back to my sparks flying. My camper is here. Lol. My camper wants to move back with Mammaw and papa. Lol.

Time Square was really for my oldest son. One of his college roommates is a police officer in Times Square. He works 8pm to 4am. We went to see him. It was very cold. Mirsa and I took the baby to Toys R Us mostly to get warm. It was very busy.

We did no shopping. Mirsa bought mittens for the baby from a street vendor. She bought a hat because she was freezing. When we went into FAO Schwartz another zoo. They got cute pjs for the baby.

The rest of the day was walking around, meals and Kleinfelds with Rebecca the reason we went. It was really nice having so many family members together.

I am dreading the long ride home. We won't break it up like we did on the way up by staying in Philly. Isabella has tr

That should say trouble sitting in her car seat 4-5 hours.

Hoping to go to ground zero this morning and then get on the road. It depends if the kids want to do that or anything else.

Hope your family time is wonderful. That is what holidays are all about.

Leaving NYC spent a good two hours at Union Square. It is an outside market with little stores and kiosks. I bought a necklace for Becca and Sarah girl friend of DS21. Mirsa found things she wanted. There are also street vendors all over NY. Mirsa found a lot of bargains.

Now on our way home. Probably 4-5 hours.
