Thanks Tami! Attitude is all I have I obviously can't count on my body to do what *I* want it to How's ketosis?

Monica~ Loved Twilight series. DH teases me how "those aren't 'real' vampires"...in his opinion vampires should not sparkle of course, when I showed him JR Ward's version of vampires, he told me it was just fine to like Edward

***scale movement today!!!! 236.5 Praying hard it sticks after an UD today!!!

Nothing fun to report today. Same ole same ole

Have a great day ladies!!

Hello everyone!

Danielle, FWIW, I heard someone in the blogosphere say - I don't remember who, sorry - that AMBLING exercise was a better fit for intermittent fasters than hard core "getting your sweat on". Just walking, or something easygoing like that. I've been pacing like a tiger in a cage for my exercise. YMMV of course, we're all so different.

Zipp, I am in TOTAL agreement on the political ads. I'm grateful that so many Americans got out to vote, and got involved in political conversations, but I'm also quite glad it's over. I'm ready for some Twilight myself.

Tami, welcome back on the wagon! May the ketosis fairy visit soon, and bring her sister, Madame Whoosh, with her.

Boop, I agree on the fat bombs being a great substitute for Halloween candy. It's good quality homemade chocolate after all! What's not to love??

Me... slight bounce up to 162 yesterday morning. I'm going to pretend I didn't see that, and simply "keep calm and carry on". Right?

Our vacationing friend Ms. Banana ought to be back pretty soon. I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures! Hope she didn't get sidetracked with the travel interruptions on the east coast due to Sandy.

Have a lovely Wednesday, my friends!!

Lynne

Lynne - good thinking. Carry on is the best idea!

Danielle - all of my vampires are lovely, in my mind. I have read numerous vampire series. Drake Chronicles, Sookie Stackhouse, Morganville...YOU name it. Love them all!

Currently reading a non vampire book. That's probably why I am dragging reading it. Next book will be the newest Morganville book (I think it's #14), it came out today!!!! WOOHOO!

Love it! Not sure why our bodies just won't do what we want when we want it! lol Ketosis is getting closer, I hope! Yesterday was easier than Monday and today I'm not starving... but I did just throw some pb/coconut fat bombs in the freezer just in case.

Lynne, definitely carry on... surely just water fluctuation anyway! Thanks for the warm wishes for Ketosis and Madame Whoosh!

Sounds like I need to read more vampire books <gg> Loved all the Anne Rice books way back when, but it's been awhile! lol

Hi, everyone. I've been volunteering and away from the computer for a few days, but now I'm back to my normal routine. I'm on day 13 of JUDDD and am finding the DDs easier than I expected, though I do have periods of being pretty hungry and/or having trouble sleeping--but less than I would have expected. I'm keeping my calories around 300 on DDs, doing mostly hard-boiled eggs, lean roast chicken, and coffee with a little cream, plus a few crunchy veggies. Last night was--for me, anyway--an up, up, and away day, since I had some chocolate and white wine with friends, which I normally avoid (trying to do low carb/moderate protein/no sugar consistently), so I was kind of glad to have a DD coming up today. Probably the hardest thing for me is that I get cold on DDs, but I have an infra-red sauna at home and spend a couple of hours in there warming up when I get home, if I don't have to work late.

Have a great day, everyone. I'm off to a Bob Dylan concert with friends tonight, so I won't be thinking about food this evening.

Danielle- I love the JR Ward books. My husband calls them my vampire porn. Lol

So I am bouncing the scale again. 184 today... Happens with every new low i hit. You would think it wouldn't get me down by now but it always frustrates me a little! But again I have been slacking on the water. Cracking down this week!!!

Morning all! I am just popping in to say hi, no news here today except a wicked lag cramp in the night... I haven't been taking my magnesium pills for a couple weeks and I have heard that helps. Weirdly I found them yesterday and took two before bed... So hoping I don't get that again!

Oh my goodness yes, hope that never happens again. Those are the worst. I remember getting those while swimming...my foot would cramp. Yeouch.

Let us know how the Mg works. Sounds like it would do the trick!

Scale says 162 again today.

My skin is looking 3 sizes too big again - does that happen to you guys too as you lose weight? The skin adjusts after a week or so, though, so that's good.
Let's see: The girls shrink(!), and then grow back. The skin gets floppy, then tightens up again. My face gets skinny, then poochy.

Zipp, you've inspired me to find the Vampire Chronicles at the library and read them all again. They were excellent!

Svensk, I get cold on DDs too. I wish I could find where my inner thermostat is located and turn it up a notch!! Yikes!! I take WAY too many hot showers because of this. My water bill is ridiculous.

How was the Bob Dylan concert? I was singing "Times they are a changin" all day yesterday in your honor.

Tami, I'm glad it's going well! Getting back in the saddle is HARD. You did it.

Have a great day, everyone!!

Lynne

Tami - leg cramps are the worst! Keep taking the magnesium!

Thanks Lynne!

JR Ward, vampire porn? Are they really sexual? I don't like a lot of that. I prefer the teen kind. Some love but not over the top sex stuff!

Monica- they are definitely alot more adult than say the twilight series! Each book focuses on one of the vampire "brothers" so you get to know each character as the series progresses and I really liked that aspect!
I have never read the Ann rice series. May have to look into that!

Monica, the Ward books are very sexual, and definitely no Edward & Bella I'm behind about 2 books just because I had to go on and decide to get edjamacated and go back to school

Boop, my hubbs calls them that too! Sorry about the cramps, those are awful!! My toes on my right foot have been cramping several times during the day, it is the oddest thing ever. Time to drag out the mg!

Lynne, can't say I've experienced the skin thing, but then again I do have quite a ways to go still. Love the idea of the exercise, and now maybe I don't feel so bad! I guess maybe part of me feels like I *should* be doing it? I dunno.. I guess I'll just go with what fits and go from there and not sweat it so much.

Sven, I get cold on DD's too. I have been hunkered down in a blanket each DD to get warm. All this while it's still 90 outside! I have tried getting my calories lower than the 500 but I just cannot do it. I guess I'll worry about trying harder if the losses switch to gains after DD's
Hope you enjoyed the concert.

Tami, this darn body gave up listening to me a long time ago I think...after doing such a low-fat plan I think I traumatized it and now it says, oooohhhh no no no, *I'm* drivin this time! How were the fat bombs?

Slight bounce on the scale this morning, but expected. Ended up eating too late last night...was kinda a scramble because dinner got ruined so we had to dash out for something to eat. I also ended up shorting myself about 400 calories for my UD... AGAIN So, yep, expected the gain today.

Onward, it's a DD and I'm ready to roll!

Have a great day ladies!

Absolutely! I'm always happy when my tummy is 'squishy' lol It's a sign of good things to come. Right now it's not so squishy as I'm still working off about 6 pounds of 'vacation' weight.

Lynne covered the Vampire Chronicles - sorry left out the 'e' in Anne Rice's name. Everything I've read of hers has been excellent. Very engrossing. But, I honestly haven't read much - the vampire chronicles and I started on some of her witch stuff... now that I'm home and life's not so crazy I really need to get back to reading... more books, less facebook! lol

Here's the wiki on Anne Rice for more info:
Anne Rice - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Fat bombs were delish, DesertGurl I have some leftover for today... think I'll have a bit with my coffee Good luck on your DD!

Thanks for the supportive, everyone. The Dylan concert was great; my friends and I had seats in the second row center, thanks to my friend Sandy nabbing great seats the moment they became available, so we had a wonderful view.

I've been drinking hot green tea at work to help with feeling cold on my DDs, along with taking the infra-red saunas when I get home.

Desertgurl, I'm a JUDDD newbie, but I think you shouldn't worrry about putting your DD calories below 500 if that's too hard. After all, Dr. Johnson suggested 500 calories as the starting number on down days; if it gets easier eventually, you can always dial down the calories sometime in future.

I'm more of a film fanatic than a reader for pleasure these days, so most of my knowledge of vampire popular culture comes from old and new movies. Vampire fans, let me know if you want film vampire suggestions (beyond the Twilight movies).

Danielle - I don't think I have ever had a DD that was below 500c!

Lynne, I think I am going to follow your 1000/2000 calories from thanksgiving to New year's. I have thought and thought about all that we have going on and we will be insanely busy. I think I would do better if I merely try to stay at the weight I currently am, than to try to get lower. Is that crazy to do?

Svenskamae, what fabulous seats to an iconic concert! How fun!

Zip, I don't think it's crazy at all... this is a lifelong process and finding a way to make it work without killing yourself during the holidays certainly has some value! You can always do a lower DD if you're not busy that day, feeling ok with it, etc. but allow yourself up to 1000 if need be. Makes sense to me...

Whoosh fairy finally paid a nice little post cheat visit this morning. Now I'm only 2 about siggy weight instead of 6-8. Much better! Hope she sticks around a little longer. I'd love to at least get back to 213 by Monday.

Well I guess I must be doing something right, the scale is moving down still! Lowest this week so far; 236.0

Of course today's an UD and I'm wondering if this will end up an UUAD.... Skyfall opening tonight...dinner + drinks.. Yikes. Going to try and be a good girl!

sven~glad you enjoyed the concert! I'm not going to worry about lower than 500 unless I happen to do it on accident Besides the Twilight series I've not seen too many vampire movies except Bram Stoker's Dracula and Interview with a Vampire.

Monica~you do what you will feel most comfortable going into the holidays. I think it's a wonderful idea. Heck, if you end up losing as a result then it's just a bonus!!

Everyone, have a GREAT weekend!!

If it's crazy, then I'm crazy too, because that's what I'm doing. I was going to suggest exactly what Tami said, which is also what I'm doing: allowing yourself and planning on 1000 calorie DD's, but going lower if you find it fits comfortably.

Surprisingly, I've found that I actually want a lower DD at least once a week. It feels good and I do it. I'm not pushing myself to do it, but it's just happening.

I was fully prepared to NOT lose any more weight until New Years going on 50% maintenance, but it hasn't worked out that way. I keep losing. It may just be a fluke, I guess we'll see.

Why it might NOT be a fluke:

I've noticed that those of us who are not experiencing stellar results with JUDDD have been busy, active moms. (Small sample size, but nonetheless.)

If JUDDD's magic gene, SIRT1, is primarily a protective one...

* And women's bodies have evolved to protect us during times of stress by hanging on to our fat stores rather than releasing them...

* And at no time in a woman's life does she need resources to draw on in times of stress more than when her kids are dependent on her...

* And if we moms are also experiencing DD's as stressful, in your case Zipp particularly because of your blood sugar issues...

Then it kind of follows that we wouldn't be able to use the magic of SIRT1 (in full throttle weight loss mode, at least) to deprive ourselves of our protection during this crucial time in our lives!

All that was to say that your maintenance experiment might just reward you with a happy surprise on the scale, if you decide to go ahead with it. You might be able to convince the "office manager" that you're on her side and get her to lower her guard and let the pounds go.

If it doesn't work, you can always crack the whip after the New Year, right? Back in the saddle and no harm done?

Ugh, I've written a novel again.

Svensk, second row center!! Sigh...wonderful. Bliss.

Tami, my best regards to the whoosh fairy! Tell her she is much loved and appreciated around here.

Danielle, you ARE doing something right!! Woo-hoo and way to go!!

FWIW, I'd say relax and enjoy yourself tonight. It's not being bad, it's just another part of the JUDDD magic.

Have a great weekend!! TGIF!!

Lynne

Very well said, Lynne! I love how you explain the science behind things in easy to understand terms! I've called out to the whoosh fairy, letting her know that we all love and appreciate her. Just dead silence and dogs looking at me oddly... hope she gets the message! lol

Thank you Tami. I like to do that. It's just an idea I have, though. I don't know if I've connected the dots correctly or not.

Zipp, my weekend was pretty good too. However, yesterday's DD was one of those STARVING days. I kept it under 1000 calories, but MAN. I was hungry from morning until night.

Oddly enough, I woke up not hungry at all this morning on UD. Scale still said 162 this morning - no whoosh - but 1/2 in. down on both waist and hip measurement! Maybe that was a stealth mode visit from the whoosh fairy.

I think I'll cook something tonight - I'm tired of leftovers. Fish tacos maybe? Gavin might appreciate that.

Happy Monday!

Lynne

Well it all made sense to me, Lynne Love the whoosh fairy stealth mode... I know we all like to watch the scale go down, but shrinking our bodies is the true goal and you're doing just that! Nice job! Sorry you were starving, tho Is there a science to JUDD saying you must alternate? I'm guessing there is. I tend to follow my body which naturally ends up with some higher cal days & some lower, but obviously don't religiously track it and alternate days. I'd guess if you're not hungry your body is ok with fasting today and I'd go that route, but don't mess up the great thing you've got going! Especially while you're on cruise control for the holidays!

Monica, happy to hear you had a good weekend. I'll try to get that darned fairy to show herself more often!

Virtually all of my 'cheat' weight is gone. I'm sitting one pound over my previous low at 214 this morning. Would still like to see 199 by the end of the year, but it's getting iffy. That's ok, though. Slow & steady. I honestly don't have that sort of patience usually, but have rushed through this twice before only to put it all back on, so I truly am ok with my body just doing it's thing (well, I guess as long as it loses at least a little something occasionally anyway!) while I eat the way I'm going to eat for life.... lotsa practice for maintenance I guess...

Lynne, totally made sense to me too! Stealth mode whoosh fairy is awesome...shrinky shrinky, it's the name of the game!

Tami, I'm like you..learning to be patient no matter how long it takes. I've lost and gained the same weight so many times I've lost count. I have promised myself that this is *it*..no more yo-yo.. I'm tired.

Had a good weekend. Stayed busy and out of trouble, if you're into that sort of thing.
Lynne, I did enjoy myself on Friday night at the movie. Enjoyed a few beers and some great tasting food.
DS has been home from school for the weekend, he leaves this afternoon.
I made pumpkin bread yesterday. Good golly and everything that tastes good! I ate more than I needed too. Praying I got it out of my system and won't do that again!!
DD today. Thank goodness!!!!!
