Jeanie- how about eating little less for dinner, so that you will be more hungry next morning?
Do you like eggs for breakfast? Maybe you could add some to the steak. I think 3.5 oz of steak is about 20 gr of protein, right? So if you add 3 eggs, you would get almost 38 gr of protein. I am still not sure if everyone needs to eat 50 gr of protein (I know, I do-for sure). Maybe, since you are not a breakfast person, eating 30-40 gr of protein would be sufficient for you. Or perhaps your body needs to adjust to a new diet, So maybe start off lower and slowly increase the amount. I don't if I am right or not, just thinking out loud. I know that the key to success with LR is a high protein breakfast, but how high it could be very individual. If you are eating 20-30 gr of protein and are not binging, than that's a success. If there are any TMI issue in the AM, that would also make one not want to eat breakfast. BTW- do you know your blood type? |

From what I remember, the 50 is just an estimate of how much you need. Some need more, some less. I also remember that if you are not getting the full amount add some fat. It helps.
Jeanie, sounds like you may be adjusting...like hitting ketosis....thirsty and not wanting to eat....Also sounds like you are doing great with the loose clothes! Yay! I'd eat what you can of your BAB. I think you will adjust soon and be able to eat more. |

Jeanie- I had a feeling you are an O. It is very common for blood type O not to be hungry in the AM and having TMI issues.

Today has been better, had 50 grams of rope sausage for breakfast. Needed lunch and dinner though and also had a light snack-handful of plain pork rinds. I know snacking is not encouraged, but I'd rather have the snack then risk a binge. I am so so thirsty and have been drinking tons of water, yet not really going to the bathroom very much. I am thinking I should see some weight loss here soon as the water leaves.
Marika I read the last post on MamaGrok's thread, it seems she is not doing so well right now. ![]() |

Jeanie- ITA, it is better to have a snack than binge.
I have not read MamaGrok's journal lately. I am going to check it now. |

How long did it take you to start losing weight with the reset? I have not lost anything besides the initial water weight, this is so unlike me I usually can take off about 10-12 lbs a month. |

Jeanie-if you go back to the first page you will see that when I first attempted LR I was at 122, but then I had a big binge for a week and re-started again. I got back on track to fail again. So I think I had 3 re-starts (I lost track now). I have been binge free for like 2 weeks now and I went from 134 to 128.
I think if you lost some in only few days, you are doing very well. Don't get discouraged by the number. Sometimes you can stall for few days and boom, nice whosh will follow. They say on LR board that women have a harder time losing and we may need 8-12 weeks to see results. Hang in there! |

I also think that LR is about getting rid of binges and perhaps regulating hormones, which in turn will make us lose weight. I think patience is the key here.

Thanks Marika.
Do you think MamaGrok is having issues again? That is really sad after what looks like a entire year w/o a binge. My record is 6 months, the thought scares me death that after so long it can still rear it's ugly head. |

Many state that LR isn't for weight loss. It is to get our bodies back in sinc so to speak. I did see weight loss. Broke a stall too. I will go back into my journal rumblings to see if I can find when weight loss happened. It may reinspire me to reread it.

I am very happy to not be binging even though I was super tempted today when I had to serve all kinds of cakes/desserts at our class T'giving party.
I am concerned though that I am up another 2lbs. and my pants are leaving marks around my waist. I don't know if I should cut back on the amount of protein or maybe eat less fatty meals??I need to be vigilant and not let this gain throw me into binge mode, which I tend to do when I feel like my efforts are not enough. Jeanie- 2 lb could be water or could be TMI. You would have had to consume extra 6000 cal to gain 2 lb. Do you think you are eating too much fat and protein. Maybe try to calculate your calories for 2 days to see if you if you go over. From my reading it looks like some gain at the beginning of LR. Don't get discouraged. You are not binging and that's very important. Forget about the scale and see how your clothes fit.

Jeanie- I was thinking that maybe the sausage that you eat has a lot of sodium? That would make you retain water

I guess I should track calories, but I really hate doing that! I really don't even know what number of calories I should aim for? I am trying to ignore the scale but my pants were uncomfortably tight today, even my socks are leaving marks on my legs ugh! I am going to try to cut down on the sodium and see if it helps, but I thought we needed lots of salt while low carbing.
Hmm- maybe the problem is the sausage-processed meat, instead of steak, chicken, or pork. Last edited by jeaniem; 11-16-2012 at 01:24 PM.. |

Hope it is simply a matter of reducing the sodium. I do use sea salt on eggs and such, but with the BAB I have been mostly eating the sausage. This weekend I will try and see if I can get used to eating other meats/poultry.I have this fear now that I am sleeping poorly and having numerous hot flashes that I will not be able to lose weight w/o severe restriction. I agree. Could be water retention or tmi. Up your water. Sausage can have a lot of salt. ACV helps too.

Back down the two pounds this morning. I looked at that the sausage label-it looks like I was getting close to 1600 mg. sodium, just at breakfast alone! I cut it way back today and had scrambled eggs with cheese and a small chicken sausage. The sausage is still processed, but I want to use it up and plan to cook lots of fresh meat, chicken and pork this weekend,so that I have healthier choices from now on.
My BAB was late today as I woke up with a bloody nose and couldn't stomach the idea of eating anything until I had been up for about 1 1/2 hours. I am okay with this as I used to not eat until lunchtime. How are you all doing? Last edited by jeaniem; 11-17-2012 at 08:11 AM.. |

Doing well. Appetite is in control and have been binge free for 14 days
Glad you checked in Marika. I get nervous when it gets quiet in here. ![]() Any suggestions on a low carb dessert I can make for myself for T'giving that is somewhat like a chocolate moouse, but isn't really high calorie? Kitty Hope you are doing well. |
