I feel the BAB is a good start. It's how I started, then, as I saw it worked (my previous experiences/dabbling) I began trying other suggestions...they seemed to be helping too.....then, fell.....need to get back there.

Jeanie, I pretty much much follow all, except for CT
- Eat at least 50 grams of protein breakfast within 30 minutes of waking I find that 60-65 gr to be a magic number for me - Allow 4-5 hours between meals I can pretty much stick with that - Eat 3 meals a day, paleo or primal diet No problem, as I follow atkins - Keep carbs at 50 or below (25 if obese) when I don't binge, I like to keep it around 10-15 gr - No snacking - black coffee or tea OK but no cream, no calories no problem there - Allow at least 3-4 hours between dinner and bedtime I never liked eating late at night, I do best if I finish my last meal between 4-5 PM - No aerobic exercise or weight lifting until LS (leptin sensitivity) is re- established, walking is OK Right now I only walk |

Thanks Marika. I am doing all of those reset rules except the CT as well, so following more closely than I thought.
55 grams this morning and still not hungry yet. Will probably just have an early dinner. Nice thing about the early dinner is that I am actually finding I am a little hungry when I wake up, which makes it easier to eat the BAB. |

I started using a beginning CT. Saw it helped reduce the thyroid meds I needed. Doc even commented my body could be healing itself. I need to get back there. I really do....
Just used cold showers, cold swims when pool was cool (closed now for winter ), ice packs, and dressing in lighter clothes, etc. no ice baths....yet! LOL |

Kitty- I just can't even think of CT. I guess I like warm weather and warm water. Maybe I could try this in the summer, but right now there is no way. I could be missing on some great benefits but I just don't think I could stand it.

I too am a warm, if not hot, weather person. I am usually the one moaning I'm cold at 50 degrees. I did most of it in spring and summer, but did see a difference in tolerating tHe cold. I really wasn't cold as I used to get. Could stand out with shorts and tank on while others were putting on hoodies....me the tropical girl!

Okay day. Ate a little less protein at breakfast and found I was hungry sooner, so tomorrow I will be sure to get closer to the 60-65 gram range. Dinner was weird I tried making a shrimp dish with shiratake noodles blech. I feel sort of green right now. I bought 4 bags of the noodles from the asian market and promptly threw the rest in the garbage.
I slept really well last night for the first time in ages. I overslept and was almost late for work as I forgot to set my alarm. How are you doing today Marika and Kitty? |

Glad to hear you had a good day, Jeanie. Good idea on increasing protein. Good thing is, once we get leptin reset we don't have to eat that much in AM. Most of the time I like this much protein anyway
I never tried shiratake noodles and don't plan to Kitty-are you with us, girl |

Glad your getting started Kitty! The BAB has been a huge change for me as I never ate until at least noon, just ran on coffee. I have to say I am adjusting rather well and feel better for it. I have been slept much better than usual the last two nights and am wondering if changing my eating patterns has been the cause?
Good day. Ate the higher protein this morning and didn't need to eat again until 4pm! Got in a great treadmill walk at the gym, did the last mile on a steep incline. Still had energy to spare came home did laundry and cooked a pot roast for dinner. ![]() Thanks for the inspiration Marika and Kitty |

Jeanie- that's a great news about the sleep. I remember reading somewhere that if you skip breakfast it may affect your sleeping.
Hello Kitty- burger w/cheese sounds yummy I think the key to eating this much protein for BAB is to have something that you really enjoy.I am feeling normal again thanks to TOM FINALLY arriving |

Another good day. Burger and cheese again for breakfast. Upping the protein over the next few days to get to my optimum. Last time my normal was 2 burgers and cheese. 50g sometimes would do bacon too.
Loved the extra energy this gave me! I could use that now! Also loved the not needing to eat after breakfast. I found I was then eating as fuel. Had to remember to eat. After a stal, my weight began moving again too You inspire me Hun! KUTGW! You are right! You have to find what you like. I started with steak! LOL |

How was the day Jeanie and Kitty?
I had a good day. Only had 45 gr of protein for breakfast but still stayed full for 7 hrs. Back to eating twice a day. I love it when I am finished with dinner by 4 PM. |

Good day here as well. I had 55 grams of protein at breakfast at 7:30 and was hungry by 12:30, so not too bad but most days I do without lunch easily. Energy is great today woke up w/o my alarm (even earlier than a work day) and was mopping and dusting before I even finished my coffee. Got a nice walk in too and some shopping. I have lost 5.6 pounds in 5 days, some is water I know, but I am in control and that feels so good!!

Good day, but my eating was a little off as I miscounted my BAB protein grams and only had 30 grams. Stayed on plan, but needed a lunch and had dinner at the 4 hour mark.
I still can't get over how well I sleep at night now! How is your day going Kitty and Marika? |

Good day here! Frying up some burgers to have ready for breakfast. Will freeze 2 in a bag. May make some bacon to through in tomorrow. The ground beef was pretty lean, so will want to add fat.
Jeanie: what are you eating for breakfast? It is amazing how it improves so much! KUTGW! |

Had a good Sunday. Nice 60 gr breakfast of lamb burgers and eggs at 7:30 AM kept me full till about 2:30 PM. Did not have to eat dinner.
Jeanie- many times I have to eat 3 times a day, especcialy if I don't get enough protein at breakfast. You are doing great! Kitty- good job! |

Kitty- I have been having rope sausage, chuck roast, cheddar cheese sticks, basically any leftover meat I have on hand. I tried chicken thighs once but didn't stay full long enough.
Today was good, two meals breakfast at 7:30, dinner at 4. A bit of experimenting and we get it right Last edited by jeaniem; 11-12-2012 at 03:27 PM.. |

I had trouble in the beginning downing enough food to get the 50. Then, found that beef was high and been using it since for BABs.
Yep, takes some experimenting! |

I think I have been underestimating my protein. I was using the 7 grams of protein per 1.oz of meat calculation, and then noticed today that the rope sausage I have been eating has only 8 grams of protein per 2oz. serving. I was doing 7x7, thinking I was getting 49 grams. I have used this sausage on a lot of mornings, so I guess a long with my cheese some days I have only had about 40 grams at best.
Do you all think I should up the amount on the days I have this sausage? It seems to hold me well most days, but I don't want to mess up the reset. |

Jeanie-it is your call, but maybe wait and see how you do on 40 gr. Maybe that's enough or maybe you would better on higher protein. But since you are doing fine, leave as it is and if you start cravings carbs you can go higher. You can always add an egg or too to the sausage. One egg has about 6 gr protein.
I had to start off with 70 gr and now I am fine anywhere between 50-65 gr, but as you know we are all different |

Thanks for the advice Marika. I think I will raise it slightly and see how it goes. I have a couple of holiday parties coming up that I know for sure will tempt me, so I plan to go really high on those days.
My weight has not changed in 3 days, but my pants feel looser |

Don't worry about the weight, Jeanie. I actually remember gaining a couple of pounds when I first started LR. It will come down, don't get discouraged by that, and your pants are fitting better-which is great!

Today has been really strange, I was only able to eat about 3.5 oz. of my BAB steak and had to stop as I felt like I was going to be sick. I still felt full most of the day and had lunch at 2:30. Just barely 3 hours later though and I am ready for dinner, I will try to hold out until at least the 4 hour mark.
I have been super thirsty too the last few days and back to not sleeping without waking up multiple times. Not complaining though as not binging or overeating is a win-win in my book! |
