I'm so so excited to help with a friend's great dane litter today or tomorrow... things are progressing nicely and it's looking like it will be later today or overnight tonight, but I haven't actually headed over there yet. It's getting to the point where I feel like I'm nesting, though, and can't sit still! lol I'm soooo excited! The family who is having them has done absolutely everything 'right' and it is a very much anticipated litter that will be raised and placed responsibly for life. I just can't wait to hold babies and smell puppy breath! Keep us in your thoughts & prayers that all goes well. Of course, the mom is their big baby so there's always concern. I'll see if I can share a pic or two of the newborns once they're here.
Thanks for all of the support re: my lovely childhood ![]() (honestly my childhood wasn't that bad... you really don't know that it's 'wrong' until you get closer to puberty and I was prime to rebel by then anyway <gg>)

My gosh, ladies, it's been a while since I've checked in! Let me try my best to catch up…
Lynne: sending you virtual hugs wrt your mom ![]() - even with unresolved issues she's still your mom, and making decisions like her moving into assisted living facility and so on can't be easy. And a hike up & down the hill - amazing! Monica: everyone that I know are back on their allergy meds too, with the weather being cooler and all… I hope that I don't get sick anytime soon, I can't imagine being stuck in bed without carbs if I get sick!Tami: sounds like you had a full weekend! I'm sure you'll get to 220 soon. And congrats to the new Great Dane mom and puppies!boop13: hope you've had a good time at the wedding last weekend! Elise: hope you're feeling better! Once TOM's gone the pounds will be gone too, I think you've got time to reach 150's before end of September! ![]() As for me, I'm at 145.3. Been going up and down (so that "remaining constant until I lose" phase wasn't meant to be afterall! ) and now back down to 145.x. TOM's late by 2 weeks, and I dunno what's up with that - but in a way, as long as it doesn't mean anything bad health-wise, I'm more than happy to skip it this month. ![]() News: I've planned a proper cheat this week, I'm going out for dinner on Thursday with friends and I'm going to indulge in some Chinese food. That's right, I'm experimenting only 2.5 months into this lifestyle. But I have some rules and I hope that will help me enjoy this cheat and get back on plan right after. I will report back on how it turns out... Anyways, my rules are:1: Enjoy every bite, eat slowly 2: Portion control, as I know my pre-LC portions were totally out of control 3: Move afterwards - we're going bowling after dinner so I'm safe there 4: Drink lots and lots of water (I'm aiming for at least 60 fl oz after dinner) 5: RIGHT BACK on LC on Friday And just to note - I'm totally looking forward to our new challenge from this Saturday! Who's starting the new thread? Anna

Anna - that sounds like a good plan! Splurges are good to PLAN, it's the unplanned ones that cause major issues!
It's a beautiful Wednesday here! Life is good. I am dragging a bit, I read way too late last night (for me that's till 10:00). I am reading Divergent and it is REALLY GOOD! Tonight is a busy night for us. Son has confirmation classes starting again, Daughter is joining a Wed church group and we have a friends Volleyball game to go to! I LOVE FALL! It's a DD and I think I have planned well for it!

Yaaawwwn... so tired, but all went well. There are 7 healthy new great danes in the world. Not sure when the last time I pulled an all nighter was, but I'm beat!
Anna, I was just discussing cheat days with a personal trainer friend and she thinks with the way I eat (probably similar to yours?) that a cheat meal (not day), w/ no alcohol & limited sugar, would likely serve me well and speed up the weight loss. I've heard that theory tossed around on a regular basis and it is interesting. Enjoy your chinese & jump right back on plan after Monica, sounds like a fantastically full fall day |

Hello! I have been MIA this week... Ive had a bit of a tough week with some personal stuff going on... And I have Been up a few pounds since the wedding I went to Saturday. But it's worth it. Was one of the best weddings I have ever been to! Instead of a midnight buffet... They had a Poutine truck come in! And I did indulge a little... Lol. Who can say no to a Poutine after an evening of drinking! So I am all back on track again... I won't hit 188 for this challenge like I had hoped. But I'm ready to kick my butt into gear for our winter challenge!

Tami - I bet they are all just too CUTE! Rest up today girl! I can't do all nighters, I struggle for DAYS to recover. I am sure my AGE doesn't help!
![]() Boop - refresh my memory. Poutine is fries with gravy??? Life is meant to be lived!!!! I am down a pound from last week. Only 2 more pounds to signature weight! My DD went really well yesterday. Shockingly! I have given up drinking till 10/19! I just informed HUBBY of that this morning. He was not pleased. He and I love our WINE! I told him, well you, skip a meal and lose 5 pounds, ME I think about a meal and Gain 5!!! We will see if the lack of drinking makes any difference. |

Well, good news is the the puppy whelping marathon finally convinced the scale to sit firmly at 220... bring on the teens
Glad your scale cooperated, too, Monica! Yay! Boop, I had to google Poutine... lol Guessing it's what we call 'cheese fries', 'garlic fries', 'carne asada fries' or something close? Yum. Glad you had a great time at the wedding! Here are the babies... man, pictures just don't do them justice... you really have to cuddle them and listen to their little grunting noises to fully appreciate them ![]() Oh, and in case you're wondering I have blacks so all of this random color in a litter was kind of fascinating |

Monica, yay, pound gone!! Good for you on the no-drinking resolution, too. That's tough when DH is not exactly thrilled with the plan, but you've got a point about alcohol and the weight loss thing - seems like men can lose weight just by THINKING about dieting.
(What's up with that, anyway? It's SO unfair.) Tami, those babies are SO CUTE!! Makes me want to kiss their sweet little heads. ![]() Anna, thank you for the positive thoughts, it's not going to be easy but it WILL be right...and as for the protein shake, I use Pure Protein brand frosty chocolate flavor. Enjoy your splurge, you've certainly earned it! Boop, I had to google poutine, too. Now I want to try it! ![]() Last few days of summer, ladies!! Lynne P.S. Scale said 168 yesterday. That's technically 12 pounds (or 15) for this 3 month challenge, which is still a pound a week or more. There's nothing wrong with that, I know, but it feels soooo slooooow. ![]()

Thanks guys... the puppies really are adorable and Lynne, I spent a good deal of time doing just that. So sweet!
Lynne, great job with the new low!!!! I'm with you in the seems sooooo slow department, but progress is progress! I'm at 18 pounds gone for the challenge and hoping to be 20 pounds from my goal....hmph... but, overall the average really is pretty acceptable. Thanks for pointing that out! |

Monica - you've had a busy day yesterday! Hope your DD was as planned! And yes, poutine is fries with cheese curds and gravy. Hmmmmmm…
And yay for your loss! You might make it to your siggy weight before this Sat when our new challenge starts!Tami - yes, I think we're eating quite similarly. I will report back as to how I'm feeling tomorrow and during the weekend. BTW, those puppies are adorable! I want to reach into my computer screen to be able to touch them...boop13 - poutine! My goodness, I haven't had good poutine in absolutely ages! I'd love a bite or two of it but even before going LC I could never finish the whole serving by myself. Lynne - more than a pound a week on average is totally awesome rate. It's certainly better than some other diets that I've tried (a long, long time ago). Maybe another pound will be gone before we start our new challenge in 3 days! I'm at 144.7 - finally broke through that 145-146 range. Well, maybe. I might gain 5 pounds of water weight after tonight's dinner. ![]() ![]() Talk soon! I will check in before we start our winter challenge. Anna |

Those are the sweetest puppies ever and they helped you lose weight too? Its a win, win.
Everyone has really done well for this challenge. If you get discouraged that you haven't come as far as you would like, remember all that extra weight that each of us has gotten off our bodies and that we have all moved to a healthier place. Would I like this weight gone yesterday? You betcha but then what am I going to fixate on? My beginning wrinkles, my saggy skin? I've finally figured out its always going to be something. So for now I'm happy to just cruise along and lose what I can convince my body to let go of and worry about everything else later. I was 163 this morning and that's still overweight and its a long road ahead but I'm a lot happier here than I was at 240 lbs and can be proud of what I've accomplished. *Stepping down off soapbox*

New challenge can be found here.
Come on over!! Lynne P.S. Elise, you are SO right. If it's not one thing, it's another. And Zipp, the protein powder makes DD pretty easy, it's a chocolate fest! Plus, the office manager has a hard time yelling "famine" with all that high-quality protein coming in. Ha. Last edited by lynne2u; 09-21-2012 at 05:47 AM.. |

Hello lovely ladies,
I'll hop onto the other thread in a minute. Just a quick update that there's no change to my weight after a greasy, MSG- and sodium-laden Chinese meal last night. Whew! Managed to drink 90 fl oz of water afterwards, and I'd like to think that helped. But you know, it was soooooooo good. But I did feel heavy afterwards - I'm sure it's mostly psychological but I don't like that feeling of "I'm too full and my tummy's going to burst" so I don't think I'll be planning another cheat for a little while.Back to my beloved eggs (and steak and pork chops and chicken and cheese and... )!See you on the other thread! Anna |
