I got so frustrated with the "pasta pasta pasta all the time" choices at the Italian restaurant that I ate lasagna.
I'm so dumb. Now I'm up another 2 lbs for the last two days and feeling really stupid. Plus, I've been eating TOO MUCH. Just too much in general. It's because I'm bored. When I get bored, I start grazing. Mainly low carb stuff, but still. It's not helping. I know, I know...just get back on the wagon and stay there. I just get so frustrated lately that I think "what the **** is the point of even trying?!" But, I know the point. The point is that I am not AS sick as I was. I am better, even if it's not completely better. |

I have committed to zero tolerance for the rest of the month. I will NOT cheat in any way, for the next 9 days. No excuses, no 'just a bite/taste/lick'. Just a commitment to follow my plan to the letter. Lets see if I can just focus on May instead of the rest of my life, that I can't get that scale moving.

I'm still here and working on it
I had a mini disaster with my homemade mayo yesterday. Been making it for more than a year and this time the egg and oil didn't emulsify. Soobee posted over in Recipe Help to check a google video which I did. I salvaged the ingredients, but the stuff is pourable like salad dressing. So, I've dug out the Ranch salad dressing that Speck posted months ago, and I'm turning it into Ranch salad dressing Thanks Speck for the ranch recipe I follow Jimmy Moore on facebook (its easier than checking his blog everyday) and he has been having issues of slowly gaining inspite of being LC and paleo. He is now doing an experiment with a blood ketone meter to raise his ketone level. The only thing he has changed in his regular diet is to raise the fat to 80% and eat moderate protein and low carb. Seems he has lost more than 3 pounds but won't be doing any extensive posting on it until sometime in June. Worth keeping an eye on his blog. For me, there can't be any giving up. Giving up means more insulin and significant weight gain....and I refuse to go there I have been trying to shake up my meals a little but staying within my guidelines. Never used to make stir fry but I've done several now using steak, chicken, and shrimp and find I really enjoy them. A couple of scrambled eggs with 2 strips of chopped up red pepper and a tsp of cream is quite good and it gets the fat up without adding a lot of protein. I hope DrJ comes back soon...miss her posts. Have a good day everyone. |

Hi all, I am new here. I have stalled due to something I shouldn't be eating I am sure. I need to get off 40 lbs. today I am sticking only to meat eggs and some salad.
Have a good day. Mobear, I eat the store kind ranch dressing, but it doesn't seem to keep me from losing, but I am not going to eat any for a few days to see if I lose some more. Last edited by annie2012; 05-22-2012 at 05:02 AM.. |

Hello Annie!!
Maureen, I was trying to up my fat grams to about 100, carbs 15g and protein 60g. I am finding that I under consume fat considerably, protein is almost always more like 70+g and carbs are about right if I deduct fibre. I was also eliminating dairy at the same time so I think that was interfering with my goals. I think I am going to try it again only this time with dairy..... I would love any suggestions for high fat and lower protein foods. |

ooo, avocado, nuts, seeds, add mayo (homemade), cook with coconut oil, eat chicken with the skin on, and or dark meat chicken, eat higher fat cuts of meat, and my favorite you could have a Bullet Proof Coffee (or tea)...Recipe: How to Make Your Coffee Bulletproof...And Your Morning Too | The Bulletproof Executive Although, I don't use special coffee beans and sometimes I do it with strongly brewed green tea.

You're welcome, Mobear! I'm concerned about Jimmy, too. It's scary what is happening to him and I hope he figures it out. I've been thinking about dietary fat too, and eating more of it.

Most of the things I'm doing to raise fat grams have already been mentioned. My favorite is mac nuts which I actually measure out. I've been adding cream to my coffee and also to diet orange sunkist (very good!). Not every day, but a couple times a week I have 1 square of 85% cocoa candy. One square is about 4g fat, 4g carb, and 1g protein (varies by brand of course).
Trying to get away from eating so much chicken - DH will only eat boneless/skinless chicken breast - so I eat dark meat I cook at the same time. I've been working on eating more beef - had prime rib out last week. The hardest thing is not eating so much cheese. I've been trying to limit to 1 or 2 ounces because it has so much protein so it can't be just a snack for me. If I have salad for lunch and put 2 ounces of cheese on it that is like 18g of protein..so that is still a struggle. |

put a drop or two of vanilla extract in that orange soda & cream beverage and it will taste just like a Dreamsicle/Creamsicle/50-50bar.

wow, what kind of cheese do you eat that has that much protein? I have the oposite problem in that I end up with too much fat and not enough protein.

I guess it depends on what you are aiming for. I have the same issue with cheese. My cheddar cheese has 8g protein per 1 once serving. I aim for no more than 20% protein per day which translates to no more than 60g per day. You can see that the protein adds up pretty quickly.

Currently I shoot for at least 25% for me that is closer to 90g, Fat at 50% which is about 80g. But my fitbit is synced to my food tracker and adjusts for exercise. I don't generally use all that it adds back in though.

Scale finally moved and yesterday morning was 133.5 -- 40 lbs gone ! That was for a few hours, sick..... went to Dr and he put me on STEROIDS .....crap ! Will definitely gain some back......
I have been trying to get to that weight for months ! Last time I did, a few months ago, I splurged and had a few cheat days, never could get back down. Why, oh why, do I (we) do that to ourselves ??? |

My favorite cheese is Kerrygold Dubliner, is is 7g of protein per oz. but 9g of fat, so a better ratio for what you are looking for I think.
I also make my own cream cheese, as well as mascarpone, and creme fraiche, all with high fat milk and cream. Not sure but I would bet the fat is pretty high in those too. |

Sometimes I have to go on steroids for allergies, they don't usually cause a gain when it's a week on then right back off. For me, anyway. They make me retain a bit of water, but only until I'm off them. I don't get super hungry like some people do on steroids, though. They just make me HOT and amp up my energy a bit.

I'm considering giving Atkins 72 induction a go. Not sure. Perhaps I'll just go back to regular induction for a while and see how that goes. No cheating. And I have really got to get this random grazing/snacking under control. I have been eating because I'm bored, not because I'm hungry...and that just isn't working out.

Yesterday I decided to lower my protein to 60-66g, up my fat to about 87-88g, and keep the carbs at 30g. Don't know if this will allow me to lose slowly
or not, but it is worth a try. My first day was hit and miss - too much fat, too many calories, not enough protein or carbs....but I tried. Maybe I'll do better today Shelby'snana I hope you are feeling better . I was so angry with myself the other day when I made a mistake with my homemade mayo....and then when I turned it into ranch salad dressing I really liked it . Now if I only knew what the heck I did wrong, I could make more. Life is a trip ![]() Domino I find that when I am grazing it is because I am really tired (and need to sleep), really bored, or really stressed. It is almost never because I am hungry! Well, it is off to the grocery. This is Memorial Day weekend in the U.S. so the stores will be busy with people planning cookouts, so I am hoping to beat the rush. |

I would like to send you hugs. I know what it is like to be where you are. All I can tell you is that I thought I could maintain with carbs and did for a while (gained back a few right away) but then over the following years I piled on all of my losses and 50 more. It is a slippery slope.
