Squeaky Clean Food Days, as often as you please!

Anyone interested in doing a day here and there, or a few in a row of "Squeaky Clean Food"?

Here is the basic plan, which, of course, can be adjusted to individual needs, preferences, etc.

To eat:

Fresh meat, fish, and eggs. Low to medium carb vegetables.

Protein, carb, and fat amounts and meal times as you please.

"The "No" List, for a day, or longer, if you please:

No dairy except butter or ghee (clarified butter).
No sauces and dressings from packages and bottles.
No artificial sweeteners, in anything.
No alcohol.

No cold cuts, processed meats, mayonnaise, salad dressings.

(And, of course, no grains, legumes, roots and tubers, sweet fruits, nuts, and high Omega 6 oils.)

On adding things back in:

If you wish, add the dairy, artificial sweeteners, and processed foods back in one at a time, to see how you fare with each one.
For example, some do all right with canned fish, bottled lemon juice, bacon, etc. Others must use everything fresh.

Vegetables, similar to the lists recommended by Atkins, Bernstein, Groves, MacKarness et al.

Here is Dr. Richard Bernstein's vegetable list:

Of the following vegetables, each acts upon blood sugar as if it contains about 6 grams of carbohydrate in 2/3 cup (all cooked except as noted):

artichoke hearts
asparagus
bamboo shoots
beet greens
bell peppers (green and red only, no yellow) (cooked or raw)
bok choy (Chinese cabbage)
broccoli
brussels sprouts
cabbage
celery
celery root (celeriac)
collard greens
daikon radish
dandelion greens
eggplant
endive
escarole
hearts of palm
kohlrabi
mushrooms
mustard greens
okra
patty pan squash
pumpkin
radicchio
rhubarb
sauerkraut
scallions
snow peas
spaghetti squash
spinach
string beans
summer squash
turnip greens
turnips
water chestnuts
watercress
zucchini
zucchini flowers

In addition to the above, you should keep the following in mind:
• Onions are high in carbohydrate and should only be used in small amounts for flavoring—small amounts of chives or shallots can pack a lot of flavor.
• One-half small avocado contains about 6 grams of carbohydrate.
• One cup mixed green salad without carrots and with a single
slice of tomato or onion has about the same impact on blood sugars as 6 grams of carbohydrate.
• One-quarter cup mashed pumpkin contains about 6 grams of carbohydrate.

Added fats: olive oil, macadamia nut oil, beef fat, butter have the most optimal Omega 3 to 6 ratio. Some use coconut or palm oil, too.

Vinegar, spices, and herbs can provide variety and interest to meals.

Coffee or tea at your own risk.

Please feel free to pop in for a day at a time or however long fits your needs.

Best wishes to all for wonderful health and sleek LC living.

Hi, Deborah. Welcome.

Do you cure your own pastrami?

Squeaky Clean Meals for me today:

Tea w/ beef fat and brewer's yeast, then some with inositol powder
B: Braised beef and yellow squash
L: Freshly cooked roast beef, yellow squash, green onions and a bite of parsnips
Decaf coffee, diluted, with a couple of ice cubes added.
S: Probably braised eggs, or beef broth with an egg stirred in.

Happy Clean Eating wishes.

Deborah, your sausage and jerky sound super. What do you put in the Italian sausage, if you don't mind telling?

Congratulations on your success.

I agree, clean eating days help so much.

Hi, Deborah, I'm looking forward to your recipes.

I like the strict food days, and then enjoy adding back in the cream, cheese, beef bacon, a little saccharin, and even some beef sausage, on the other days. I like how lean and clean the strict days are. They help me to pinpoint allergy symptoms or lose weight, if I've gotten sloppy with the food plan/rest and sleep/sunshine, or not been exercising enough.

Hope you are doing really well!

Haven't quite been squeaky clean, but very LC. This bug has really kicked my arse. Little desire to eat, so when I do, it is LC. Didn't want you all to think I ditched you here!

Kitty and Deborah, hope you are feeling better.

I haven't done any more Squeaky Clean Days since the last. I experimented, trying some Beef Knockwurst (Dietz and Watson) and noticed that, again, I don't do well with prepared meats, except for the tiny bits of beef bacon, for flavoring, occasionally. The prepared meats cause weight gain and make the allergy symptoms worse.

Made a nice, pressure cooker, roast beef, and am enjoying that this week.

Will probably do a Squeaky Clean Day this week, haven't decided which day yet.

Am sending you healthy thoughts and smiles.

Hi, Deborah. Hope you are doing very well again.

I'm gearing up for another Squeaky Clean Day.

The W/E was not squeaky clean as I made custard with cream and crushed saccharin tablets. Enjoyed it all thoroughly, and will have a day of being fastidious, of beef liver, eggs, roast beef and a few marinated veggies, to balance the indulging.

I started taking L-Glutamine, GTF Chromium, and Myo-inositol recently, and find they really help with feeling well, satiety, and not having a false appetite or carb cravings. (Those are in addition to all my other supplements.)

My not-Squeaky-Clean days are still very much "on plan"--they just include things that might not be essential, such as cream, cheese, beef bacon, and a few things which are obviously not essential, such as saccharin tablets.

An old saying has been in my thoughts the last week or so: "If the string is too loose, it won't play. If it is tightened too lightly, it will break."

For me, the food plan must have clear parameters, with some days of clean abstinence, and some times of a bit of indulging, so that "the instrument will play its best".

Hope you can eat normal food again, and enjoy it.

Best wishes to all for enjoying the best of health.

Kitty, I'm glad you are recovering. What's your food plan when you are not eating Squeaky Clean, if you don't mind posting about it?

Deborah, hope you are feeling healthy, too.

I am doing one or two Squeaky Clean meals a day, and the third with dairy and/or saccharin, for a few days. Had roast beef and beef broth for breakfast this morning. Was especially nice.

Best wishes to you both for good health and feeling well.

I included artificial sweeteners, peanut butter, low carb muffins, etc. not squeaky clean.

Still recovering. Going to give myself a bit to fully recover, then getting back to the plan. Eating too many carbs right now. Not falling into vats of sugar, but too much.

Kitty, I hope your recovery is going well. Am sending you good thoughts for feeling super!

I can only do a bit of the not-squeaky-clean in one day, and mostly stay with dairy and a bit of saccharin as my indulgences. Once in a while, visiting friends, I will eat some nuts or have Nut Thins crackers, as most folks don't keep a pile of HB eggs in their fridge.

Finished the chicken livers yesterday, and made a pile of HB eggs today. Next round of offal will be veal brains.

Had some nice tallow in my tea today, and a pinch of sea salt, which was nice.

Smiles and best wishes to all.

Doing better. Had to take a nap after work though. It is coming though. Thanks!

Will have to allow my Davincis for my 2 cups of coffee on clean days. Need my coffee! Only way I drink it! Will be clean with all other food though.

Kitty, I'm glad you are feeling better. Isn't it great to get to a place with the food plan, so that one knows which indulgences work well?

Am being more attentive to using more beef fat and broth, and a bit of butter, rather than relying on hwc for fat. It's going well, so far.

Best wishes to all for good health.

Found the issues were most likely caused by thyroid dosage being too high. Doc is going to adjust it. Hoping that fixes it!

Anyone following Squeaky Clean days this week?

I'm on a break from cheese, and am keeping smaller portions, working to get the PFC ratios more ideal for me. Still a bit of hh and yoghurt from hh.

Hope you all are doing really well.
