mid-day quickie check-in here...

had a handful of cherries for breakfast and another for lunch...not sure if i've eaten 100 calories yet today - saving it up for dinner, although i have no idea what, where, or when dinner will be...

the music tracks for my new song were recorded today and i have to say, they sound awesome!...i was so happy with the job the guys did - these nashville musicians are geniuses!...

i sang what they call "scratch vocals" which only helps the band play the song - no one else hears them, which may be a good thing...the real vocals will be next week, as i said earlier...

i'll check back later - be GOOD kids - we are running out of time in the challenge! :-)

i am sure i speak for the rest of us Tony,

when i say that perhaps one day u might send us a sample of your scratch vocals. I will not insist, as i am certainly in no hurry to get on the scale just yet. there was a sign on the McD which read: triple cheeseburger-$2.00. Need I say more? i got 3 triples w/o the ketchup and bun. I put 1 triple into 1/2 of a lc pita(3.5 gr), and the others naked. I ate them very quickly. 6 oz of tilapia was filling. 3 triple cheeseburgers was NOT!!! I resisted the temptation to touch anything else, except for seltzer and FAYGO. I will most certainly hit 5 Guys this weekend OR I will get the 28 oz(pre-cooked weight)porterhouse at the Mirage Diner. Oh, what i would not give for low carb dinner companionship at such a repast.Porterhouse is more like a holy sacrament for me. I am also visiting THE BAKERY this weekend. I have not been there for months. They probably think I died. I also got sub lingual b12 (6000 mcg per tablet). I will try it out one day this weekend to see if it will get me off my butt and get me walking. The brand name is SUNDOWN NATURALS. Wish me luck. I want to put the WALK back into my WALKMAN.Two things are certain. I am feeling a tad betterphysically. I am also feeling a tad more lucid. Enjoy the cherries. FF

ff, be careful what you wish for... :-)

had another good night tonight...went with friends to a japanese restaurant and i had hibachi chicken and salmon with veggies - skipped the rice...i ate with chopsticks like i had been using them all my life - don't understand it as i have never had any luck with them before...miso soup too which was good - another first...

honestly it was a bit salty but yummy and i would be surprised if i consumed 1000 calories today...

those mcd's triple cheeseburgers sound so good...i've been craving fast food but have avoided it for several months...

see y'all tomorrow!

We have a tiny cherry tree out front at our house that the birds or deer always pick clean but I put netting over it this year. Yesterday noticed a little red one on it so picked it and ate it. It was a little sour but I think that the name of the tree was sour cherry. Anyway I thought it was neat to finally get to taste one. We have two dwarf apple trees in the back yard that we have never been able to sample. Have the deer netting over them this year so maybe....

Saw a recipe for Almond butter bread yesterday on the new lcf posts that I am going to try to make today. They swear it tastes good toasted or as sandwich bread. We shall see. I will give my report later.

FF, I used to think that if I lived alone I wouldn't allow the bad food in the house but I know how I am and truthfully I would probably bring it home too. Why we tempt ourselves I do not know.

Will check in later - have a great Friday all!

loss so far in challenge -2.4

Tony, so happy that the tracks on your new song came out great! We hope it travels right to the top of the charts!

to be on the safe side....

i brought the low carb pitas to the office fridge. i hope the cafeteria has something ATKINS friendly so i can take it home, and save myself the expense of dialing out. lots of things to be done this weekend. trying to figure out in what order to do it, to save time, and transportation expense. I believe i am off on Monday, but I will get the official sanction before 4:30pm.

Abi, post the link to the almond butter bread recipe PLEASE! I have a jar of almond butter that I don't like by itself. Funny, I like almonds but not the butter. ACK. Maybe using it in the recipe will get rid of it. You know, I hate to put anything to waste LOL.

morning, guys!

abi, we had a cherry tree like that when i was a kid - i loved them!...not sure if it was a sour cherry, but the fruit was not as sweet as the dark cherries in the market, which i LOVE...but they were still sweet when they were ripe...where's jenny when ya need her?...

ff, hope they have a ton of great LC choices for you in the cafeteria, and that you get monday off! :-)

vicki, how did your day go yesterday?

i feel a bit smaller today - not sure why, but i have been feeling heavy and i don't feel that way today...

haven't eaten anything yet today...i've got some running around to do which will keep me busy and away from food, so that's good...

i'll check in later!

Vicki, the bread came out very good. The pictures on the link make it look like white bread but mine definitely looks like wheat bread. It does not rise as high as reg bread but it does rise. One lady says she slices it like you would banana bread and uses two slices to make 1/2 sandwich. I cut my 4 x 8 loaf in half so I would have two squares and then stood it on end and cut it into 3 slices. So I would get 6 slices of bread. Some people just plop it onto parchent and make an artisan bread and some use muffin top pans. I will make it again for sure.

Oh, I just reread her post and she used "blanched" almond flour that she whipped into almond butter. Never heard of it but it sure makes a pretty white bread.

Hi everyone. The scale was up a bit today, but we still have some time. What is our final weigh-in date for the challenge?

I've been really hungry lately. This round of hcg isn't as easy as the ones in the past. I hope I can hold on

i was very pleasantly surprised.

we had a bbq (but w/o bbq sauce, mercifully)in the garden of our facility. of course, it was not a freebie, but for $5.51, i got 2 cheeseburgers, and 2 franks for which i used a toufayan lc pita. into each 1/2 i put 1 burger, and 1 frank. Of course, there was no lc ketchup, so i divided 1/2 tsp between the 2 burgers. Net carbs for lunch is higher than usual, inclthe ketchup and 2 painfully thin slices of tomato,10gr carbs. Tonight i will keepit to absolute zero. I am FINALLY getting my walking shorts after work. Every paycheck, i am getting a new article of clothing. I am NOT going to wait until i am deep into TWOdorland, before I get new threads. That WAS the plan. Not anymore. FF

marilee, you can do it and if you decide to quit hcg, just try to ease into your excellent other plan and try not to beat yourself up by binging...there's more than one way to skin this cat!...slow steady progress beats the drastic ups and downs anyday!

vicki, you seem to have great mornings - have you tried planning out your meals in advance and then trying to stick to whatever you planned for the entire day?...that way there are no surprises...i think if you can get two solid weeks under your belt, you'll be fine...

abi, that looks sooooo delicious!...is that a tuna sandwich?...chicken salad?...I WANT SOME!...lol...

Abi, thanks for sharing the recipe and the pics, looks yummy.

Tony, you are right. Once I get 2 weeks under my belt . . . heck, even a whole day would give me momentum.

Marilee, hunger, this too shall pass.

ff, love grilled burgers and dogs, yum.

got my shorts. i took it 1 size larger than i am...

to avoid the"2 lbs of bologna in a 1 lb bag" experience. i am gonna be 1 cool cucumber tomorrow. i will be sitting under a shade tree, listening to music, and reading some Xenophon. Also, i will be trying out my sub-lingual b12 tab. That means no coffee, because if it works, i need it know if it was the b12, and not the coffee. FF

hi ff, that bbq description had my mouth watering!...

abi, that tuna looks so good - how was the bread?...and how many carbs does it have compared to whole grain or regular bread?...

vicki, i have seen you do this successfully...you passed me in losses last year - you can do it again...i'm not that fast a target!

i just picked up some take-out from an italian restaurant for sarah and i...i didn't see her yesterday...she is "on call" tomorrow and is pretty certain she will get called in...i'll take a cab to the airport, although sarah is insisting on driving me if she does not get called in...

i ordered chicken marsala and will skip the angel hair pasta and got sarah a rustic chicken and shrimp dish which looks DELICIOUS...

had a cheese stick for lunch and along with a handful of cherries for breakfast, that has been it!...i am quite hungry now...

at 9:30, after sarah has left, i plan to meet some friends at a club where one is playing...won't be a late night as i have to be up at 7...

dinner was great - we shared both dishes and had a bunch leftover...i'm gonna miss my little girl tomorrow when i leave... :-(

just got back from downtown and some music...wish artemis was around - i'd drag her out on the town and introduce her to some very cool people...

won't be on-line until at least late tomorrow...hope everyone has a great saturday!

i guess we should make the last day of the challenge, july 3rd, which is a tuesday...it will overlap a bit into blitx X - wow!...10 blitzes???

Tony, the calories and carbs are pretty high in this bread so I would't ordinarily have a full size sandwich like that. But after reading "Wheat Belly" I am convinced that wheat is toxic and inflammatory to everyone, not just those with celiac disease it is wonderful to have something that tastes good to me if I want some bread.

Ok, here is my math - ready for a laugh! It takes a cup of almond butter and 3 eggs. ****** says there are 1852 calories in the loaf and 56 carbs. I sliced it into 6 slices to get it to be standard bread size so I am getting 308.6 per slice and 9.3 carbs per slice. So my sandwich minus the tuna and mayo was a whopping 617.2 calories and 18.6 carbs. Obviously I will be slicing it thinner and keeping the portions much smaller. But it is a good substitution for wheat.

FF, your day sounds lovely and you should be so comfortable in the loose shorts. Have a relaxing day!

Marilee, it seems like over time every tactic we use gets harder and harder. I used to be able to go for days eating 500 calories if I wanted to lose weight. I can't even make it for one day now. Now that we know that the final weigh in is going to be July 3rd that gives us 18 days for the last effort. Good luck to us all!

Will check back later. Have a great Saturday Blitzers!

hey guys, where is everyone other than abi???...i'm back home!...happy to be here, but missing sarah already!...

ate almost nothing all day, but had a big dinner when i got home - i felt like i needed a big calorie day after 5 days of very few...had salad, meatballs, sausage and a couple of chicken cutlets...had two ravioli as well...

i am planning on a good week - tomorrow is father's day so i'm guessing we will have one good meal, but i will limit what i eat at the other two...

beddy-bye time so i will check in in the morning!

Tony, glad you had a good session in Nashville and safe trip home. I think everyone took a holiday yesterday. Happy Father's Day by the way!

We will be eating breakfast at the country club this morning after church and DH and I will cook out chicken on the grill this evening. Tony, he hasn't tried to hitch up the rotisserie yet so no report.

I am making myself tackle cabinets in my kitchen, one or two a day. Trying to organize things and get rid of extra clutter. Once I get started it goes pretty well, just making the first step is the hard part.

Don't know how the house showing went yesterday for my brother. He didn't call so I guess nothing decisive happened. I will see him at breakfast and get the lowdown.

Daughter and family are not sure they can come to visit this summer. Money is tight and the kids all have things going on. Glad I got to see them in May but DH and the rest of the family will be disappointed if they don't make it.

Will check in later to see how everyone's weekend it going. Have a wonderful sunday Blitzers!

Went to a ball game, cleaned house, finished a book and had family over for Father's Day supper. Layered salad, chips, brats and burgers, home made ice cream with half AS, half sugar topped with berries. Off to a ball game today and won't worry about on plan eating, too tough at a minor league ball park.

abi,
sorry to hear your daughter may not make it - it's so hard when your kids live so far away, isn't it?...hope the chicken was delicious and that you got good news on the house!

good day today - had about 4 or 5 cherries for breakfast, and the kids took me out to my favorite italian restaurant for dinner - i was pretty well-behaved...had about 2 oz. of eggplant parm and a few fried calamari, then ordered the roasted veal - no pasta - substituted with steamed asparagus - it was all great!...

may have a snack before curfew, but will keep it light and i am trying to drink a ton of water tonight...

Vicki, your saturday sounded very productive but also glad you got to read your book too. A nice balance. Love layered salads. They opened a minor league park when we lived in Huntsville, Alabama. We loved going to watch the games. Jose Canseco was just starting out then and played there. He was fun to watch.

Tony, your father's day dinner sounds delicious! Our chicken was good too. Will have leftovers today.

My brother says that one couple is quite interested. He and sil and one of my nieces and her husband are going to Cleveland tomorrow to visit my niece who is a nurse there. He told the prospective buyers he will list the house when he comes back so they should know for sure then. He has an appointment tomorrow with lawyer to see what needs to be done if we have a private sale.

Heading over to mow the lawn this morning.

Back reading information on why I started eating low carb in the first place. Trying to get my head back on straight. Believe it or not, even though I have had to diet most of my adult life I went low carb for good back in 2008 because I wanted to do what I could to prevent getting cancer and alzheimers disease. Those were great motivators and hope to get my self back with my health as my major concern and not what the scale says.

Have a great Monday all!

hey marilee, here i am!!!!!!!!! :-) you smell very nice, btw...

abi, i think it's a good idea to do this for your health verses a number on the scale...my health has been so tied-in to my weight that it should be enough of an incentive!...speaking of health, friday is coming quickly and with it, my appt. with the surgeon!...

hope you sell the house soon!

the weather for weds and thurs is for 95-97-degree temps!...i'm planning on spending all day, both days, in the pool!!!

had a good day today:
b: skipped
l: steak sandwich filling
d: baked chicken and veggies

trying to drink a lot of water and be good for the rest of the night - only 5 mins til curfew!

Marilee, you crack me up

Vicki, I am glad you are here even if it is barely.

Tony, do you feel like the condemned man waiting for your appointment or is it a sigh of relief to finally get the hip replacement on the road?

The deal with the house fell through. They told my brother they couldn't manage the financing without selling the beautiful farmhouse. So I guess we will list on Monday when my brother comes back from Cleveland.

My other brother from Georgia will be here tomorrow for a couple of weeks. He will be mainly up at the lake helping his father in law get the boat in the water and clean up their camp. They have a nice set up. It is like a compound of about 6 camps with plenty of parking, a nice grassy area, a shady area of trees with picnic tables and a big sandy spot for the little ones to make sandcastles. My brother owns two of the camps and his fil and mil own one. We will all swoop down on them on July 14th for a family picnic. It is always alot of fun especially to see the little nieces and nephews. We are going to meet for coffee in the morning at the house. He will be surprised to everything we have done since he was here last month.

Where is FF? Hope he is not sick or having computer problems.

Artemis, if you are reading our posts at all we miss you and are hoping for good health for you.

My sil and niece and I are going to my sister's in Walpole today for brunch before they leave for Cleveland. Laura is planning a nice salad and then steak and shrimp on the grill. My niece has an immune disease and also some newly diagnosed allergies. She can hardly have anything to eat. No dairy, no eggs, no wheat and I don't know what else. She is pretty bummed as you can imagine. But she looks terrific and her complexion has cleared up so there is an up side too.

I listened to one of Jimmy Moore's pod casts yesteday with Dr. Larry McCleary. Dr. McCleary is a well known retired pediatric neurosurgeon and author and the show was called The three A's: ADHD, Autism, and Alzheimers. It was very interesting and they talked alot about ketogenic diets helping with all three in many circumstances.

Dreading the hot weather Tony but glad it will be warm enough for you to stay off that hip and exercise in the water!

Have a great day Blitzers!

i took a vacation from technology.

i am in extreme anxiety over the weather that NY will be having tomorrow through Friday. Phoenix is coming to NYC, and I shall most certainly NOT be a gracious host. FF
