WTG Tony and Kbeth. Kbeth, you will have to research recipes for caponata and surprise your DH!

Abi, you will have good luck this week.

OK, my stats reflect the results of my first week back at LCing. Whoopee!

We had supper at the folks last night. I took iceburg lettuce and cut it into wedges and topped it with the Blue Cheese dressing I made along with crumpled bacon bits. The meat was brats and Shake and Bake chicken, ewww. I thought the chicken was going to be grilled. Oh well, I did my best to scrape it off. I used to really like brats, but even those are beginning to taste too salty. I had half of one of those.

This morning I made a batch of Revolutionary Rolls aka Oopsies. I haven't made those in a very long time, like maybe 2 years or so. I also tried a cinnamon raisin "english muffin" from Vanessa Romero's "Healthy Living How To" blog. That and a Scotch egg was breakfast and the usual coffee with half and half.

Lunch will be caponata, cukes and onions and some kind of protein.

Oh yea, I also made SF vanilla pudding with almond milk and froze in popsicle molds. Those turned out yummy. I am trying to cut back on chemicals and additives in foods, so not sure how long I will continue to use Jello brand products for popsicle treats.

i guarantee that if y'all spent the day at my house....

the fat will be dripping off u. My house is like a Ronco Showtime Rotisserie. Just set me and forget me.....then wake me up in December. Oh, btw, they were double burgers. Now I will get back to the fan and the water, and the diet coke, and the Fresca, and the water. When I go to SHOPRITE tomorrow night, I doubt I will be buying any food, just bags of ice, and my usual sugar free repertoire. FF

marilee, i bet most of that is just water from the salt in the soup in the recipe...you'll drop it this week...no worries, girl :-)

abi, i think the total is off - i think with what you have listed, the total should be 12.8...then we have to deduct the weight we gained, which i think is 3 lbs. for marilee - just put that in parentheses (as a deduction) to show when any of us gain, so i think we should be at 9.8 lbs. lost for this week so far...

that gives us 33.2 total lbs. lost so far between the 6 of us!!...and we are not quite at the halfway point, so we are still slightly ahead of the necessary pace but we do not have room to slip too much...vicki and kbeth really helped the team this week!...

Oh, yes Tony, I can see that now. Thanks!

Did you have a horrendous thunderstorm last night? We sure did. No hail though. Tornado warnings north of us in the Walpole area where my sister lives. She says she does not even want to see how her lovely flower garden looks today in the light. They had some big hail there. I bet you showed your friends a good time yesterday!

FF, I was afraid you were going to be melting in the city. You are smart to keep those fluids coming!

Artemis, so glad you are feeling better and back to working out some.

The leftover steak mixed with steamed brocolli and a little low sodium soy sauce was very good. Also had some chicken yesterday too.

Vicki, I made oopsie rolls afew times a couple of years ago. They aren't bad. I think I used them as hamburger buns at the time.

Marilee, it was just some water retention from sodium I am sure. It is probably gone by now.

Have a great day Blitzers!

back to work. that AC (not the city)feels so good!!!

Pity, I cannot spend the night here. However, things are supposed to improve, weatherwise. Just gonna keep drinkin'. Not hungry in the least. It will be interesting how i feel by curfew time. I certainly will be consuming nothing mayonaissy. I might try that crystal light. I feel like something fruity. FF

ff, we have cooled off here in the midwest. I expect it will be coming your way soon. Then you will have relief.

Marilee, you can do this. I bet you are back on track today.

I was a cooking fool yesterday if you recall. The cookies I made were a nice substitute yet, I got into them like I would any other cookie; ate about 8 of them The oopsies turned out ok and I haven't made them very many time since going LC several years ago, so I don't have much experience with them. I do know I have a few recipes that add protein powder to make them firmer. I used one yesterday for an egg salad sandwich and it about fell apart. I see where people use them for hamburger and hot dog buns. i don't know how they hold up. Frankly, for the work I put into beating the egg whites stiff, they aren't worth it. I will stick with my flax OMM as a bread instead.

I didn't weigh in today since I mentioned I was going to do 2x wk. I will weigh tomorrow.

FF....set you and forget you!! Haha!! Funny, but sounds miserable. Did I read that you will be retiring next year?? Since you won't be having work's AC to escape to, will you be getting a window unit or something???

tony...hope your friends enjoyed the day and heading to the coast. Your deck sounds wonderful! That's great to find that sweet spot at your own home that makes you feel tranquil, peaceful.

tony...hope your friends enjoyed the day and heading to the coast. Your deck sounds wonderful! It's so important to find that sweet spot at your own home that makes you feel tranquil, peaceful. We live in a cookie-cutter subdivision where there isn't much of a yard...but we have a man made lake behind us. For the first 5 years we lived here, I didn't really enjoy spending much time outside because there's really no privacy. Last year I realized that our tree next to the lake was finally large enough to cast a shadow. Some actual shade, lol!! So, I bought a pretty black metal (looks like wrought iron) dining table and chairs and put them in the shade. I've started landscaping the area all around it...and now I've got the prettiest little private nook right by the lake! I could sit out there all day...

Nico had his first sleep over last night. I was so wiped out by the time they went to bed, that I caught myself mindlessly snacking on their dessert and pasta. . Seriously, I only screw up when I'm exhausted. I did eat quite a bit before I came to my senses...and I'm glad I have a whole week before another weigh-in. I just hope this doesn't affect how great I've been feeling!!!

Those that didn't lose this week....that just means you've got a loss coming your way! We can do this!! WOOT!

hey marilee, don't apologize!...we will all need your understanding at some point during this challenge...that's why i set this up as a team challenge - we will all have our good weeks and our not-so-good weeks :-)

i haven't exactly been lighting the world on fire the past two weeks, that's for sure...

abi, a few rumbles but nothing major here last night although it did rain...nice job on the new tally!

kbeth, your spot by the lake sounds so peaceful...i wouldn't worry about what you ate yesterday, as i can imagine how many calories you burned chasing two little guys around all night...lol...

vicki, i try not to weigh on days i think i'll be disappointed by the scale...

ff, sometimes a nice shower at night can cool you off for hours...

feeling a little bloated today...salt in the restaurant food, i'm guessing, although i only had crab-encrusted haddock and the salad bar...had a good time with my buddies and avoided any drinking...

making ribs tonight...will slow-cook them in the oven and maybe finish them on the grill...

i DO have an AC in the apartment.

It is not only too expensive to run, BUT it does not reach the bedroom either. I am getting a box fan this evening (if Shoprite has one). They run about $20.00. then with 2 fans, perhaps I can get some air circulating. Otherwise, perhaps I can trade food for kilowatt hours. In other words, when it reaches a point when the heat/humidity factor drives me suicidal, I can run the AC and eschew the expense of solid food for a week, or so. I would rather kill a watt, than kill myself. I am also getting a bag of ice for the freezer. Actually, it is for me, i am just keeping it in the freezer. FF

Beautiful picture Vicki. I just realized that oopsie rolls look like round lady's fingers!
Do you know what the dressing is on the confetti slaw?

Well after calling the place on Tues. twice about whether my interview was still on for yesterday I decided to call once more yesterday morning (interview time was for 2:30) someone finally answered and of course I was still scheduled.

Three people talked to me and said they had interviews scheduled for every 30 minutes. This interview was just part one and they will call me for the second part. Time will tell. I am of the mind that if it is meant to be it will happen and if not, there will be something else out there. I continue to look every day.

FF, do you have room for one of those two layer high queen blow up mattresses and camp out in your living room on those super hot nights this summer. The electric pumps are about 20.00 so it is not that hard to blow them up and deflate them quickly.

Will check back later when I have more time.

Have a great day Blitzers!

Abi, what kind of job are you applying for?

Tony, well I jumped on the scale and was disappointed: 228.2 then I got off and back on and it was 225. You know my history with this scale so I found DH's old one and got on it: 225. Still disgusted. I have been on plan too. Weight isn't dropping like it used to. I hope Tuesday wt is better.

kbeth, under the pic I tell you what is on the plate.

The coleslaw is a mix of mayo, ACV and sweetner. I just eyeball it.

i have no room for any sort of queen or other royalty.

It is a very small apartment. I'll get by. FIVE MORE MINUTES, i said this a.m. when i woke up, just FIVE MORE MINUTES. Then I dropped off for another hour. "OH *&%$..."(supply the word Sebulba used when Anakin Skywalker beat him in the pod race). I am not late, but later than i have ever been. I need more time to adjust my head to the day's responsibilities. On the good side, there is no rain tonight, so i will be able to sit outside for a while. Our Mayor want's to get rid of the BIG GULP. Whatever one may feel about soda, big, small, sugary, diet, etc, it is not his call. He is not a medical officer, or a nutritionist. I hope they sue his hynie on that one. Tonight i am getting the largest diet soda I can find, and consume two of them. FF

yes, Vicki...2 big bulps...out of spite!!!

however, in the warm weather, i do have a much greater capacity for diet sodas than the winter. In the winter, i also have a great capacity, but summer is greater. Of course, in the summer, i put the sodas on the back cooler, because i drink much more plain water...but not tonight. Insofar as i will be totalling 2, perhaps i should order twice the # of angus burgers than usual (NOT!!!) FF

I get you, FF. I felt the same way about helmet laws. Is best to wear a helmet while riding a motorcycle? You betcha. Is your right to tell me I have to? Not at all.
So, go on with your bad self and purchase that second big gulp. The man will not keep YOU down.

hey kbeth, you need to move to nh - "live free or die" is more than a motto: no helmet law, no seatbelt law (if you are over 18), no sales tax, no income tax, sales of fireworks ok, the state sells liquor, and the lost goes on!...so, did you survive the cravings okay?...i'm proud of you no matter what happened :-)

good day today:
skipped breakfast
l: salad
d: chicken halves on the grill with a dry rub

abi, i agree with your perspective on the job - you'll get the one you will enjoy the most...it just always seems to happen that way...

ff, nothing about you is queenish...lol...

vicki, don't be disgusted - it's completely counter-productive...you already have lost enough for the whole challenge - just try to hold onto it...look at how much better off you are today than you were a month ago...keep up the good work!

artemis, we miss you!....jenny, where are you?...britt, get you're crazy butt in here! :-)

gotta try to drink a lot more water over the next few days...may be back and forth to maine as our cottage needs some work - a roof, new carpet and some other things...

let's have a great second-half of this week, kids!

Vicki, don't we all have a love/hate affair with the scale. Mine has not budged this week again so far. Job wise I will take whatever I can get at this point but the one I interviewed with was at a center for handicapped children. Thanks for asking. Thanks for the coleslaw dressing recipe!

FF, sorry you don't have room for any royalty in your apartment. lol - you keep us laughing with your wit. Just think, in 9 months you can say "just 5 more minutes" and not care if that turns into another hour. I could have said that this morning when Bama the dog decided at 3am it was time for me to get up as usual. Then she gets the two cats Daba and Dewsker to start their catterwalling. I totally agree with your opinion of the government staying out of our business. They can't manage doing the job they were elected to do so what makes them think they can dictate what we eat or drink.

Tony, you always say just what we all need to hear! I guess that is what makes you such a talented song writer - you can get right to the heart of people! Will you and the boys do the roof on your cottage or get a contractor to come in do it?

Beth, those carb fests do really unleash the craving demons don't they. Hope you are back to the calm, energy loaded land of low carb.

Hey Marilee! How is your week going?

Hope you all have a great Friday!

i lied!!!

I DO have room for ONE QUEEN in my house-QUEEN LATIFAH!!! She is welcome anytime she wants...if she brings a wagon load of FATBURGERS with her. Just leave the buns outside, thank you. (btw, the one in Britain can come as well) It is going to be a cooler weekend, thank THE GODS. Tomorrow a.m. will be raining, but the afternoon will be clear, so i shall sleep in, and go out for a walk in the afternoon. Now just to get through this day!!! FF

Abi, Love hate affair with scale, I hear ya. I envy those who can toss the scale and rely on how they feel and how their clothes fit.

ff, your mayor and his attempt to limit Big Gulps is making the news all over LOL.

The slaw I made is getting old LOL. I shredded broccoli, what carrots I had leftover and red cabbage. Well, if you have ever worked with red cabbage it bleaches out and discolors the other food. Well, this is looking pretty pathetically gray Not too appealing. After making this batch of oopsies, I am not too fond of them actually. I would much rather do some form of flax or alternative flour muffin/bread as a substitute.

We went to a Chinese Buffet last night and I did fairely well. I mostly stuck to protein and veggies, there were awesome green beans but I did have an egg roll and a crab rangoon, small dish of ice cream, almond cookie and a fortune cookie. i know, off plan.

i really do think it is not only okay, but healthy to have an occasional planned "off-plan" meal or snack when we really, really want one...however, i do think that when we are negotiating with ourselves to allow one, it is VERY important to be willing to "pay" for the indulgence by agreeing to certain tighter restrictions on the days before and after the off-plan meal...

i have really come to believe that if we can adopt this attitude, getting to goal and maintenance will be possible someday...without it, we are destined to yo-yo into eternity...and THAT IS NOT GONNA HAPPEN! :-)

abi, you are so sweet...i hope you don't fret over the job...while you are applying around, try to enjoy the time that you have right now to be FREE and enjoy that...you worked so hard helping your mom and will work hard again all too soon...it is a beautiful spring/summer and you deserve a break!...

where is marilee?...

i'm gonna try to drown myself with water today!...haven't weighed but i feel like i am retaining some fluid!
