wow, the group has lost 12.8 lbs. in 2 weeks!!!!!...once everyone weighs in, we are gonna kill this!...

the sausage, meatballs and peppers were so delicious!...melted some provolone on it and didn't even miss the tortellini i made for the fam...i did not eat much, so if i get hungry in a bit, i will eat something just before 9 as ff suggested

this challenge is really helping me stay focused, as i feel my behavior is directly affecting you guys and that really motivates me!...

lately, i have not been able to consume my former

capacity of food. I was not eating my former capacity, but not because i was not able, but as an exercise of will (or will not). I wonder if the miracle is taking effect. Only time will tell. Those turkey wings are humongous. They look more like pterodactyl wings. I may actually get 8 meals from it (there are 4 wings attached to drumsticks or 8 appendages). It totals 7.41 pre-cooked lbs. I will get them going right after work tomorrow. I also got about 2.5 lbs chopped meat into which goes lots of garlic, black pepper, Mrs Dash, and a few good dashes of Frank's hot sauce. No eggs or stabilizer, cause I like my meatloaf very dense. FF

Still trying to get the signature to line up right with spacing between each week etc. Anyone care to jump in and see if they can make it look right?

Beth, hoping you have a good weigh in today!

Running late today. Will check in later!

Have a great Wed. all!

after today, at least 5 rain free evenings

the days too, of course. That means i can test my theory that being outside after dinner will make life easier for me. They did not have the mega dosage of b12 (because they knew how badly i needed it), so when I DO remember to take them, I will take the equivalent of 2 x 6500 mg (or is it mcg) or 3 x 4500 daily.(these are 1500 mg pills) what the body cannot use, it will excrete. I guess i will begin tomorrow. FF

FF...B12 does alot for me to help with energy, etc. And I also take very large doses as it's water soluble. Good luck!

vicki...My son's birthday was last week. I had a day of full-on bad food. I made myself jump back on the next day. Feeling strong again. We can do this!!

tony...WOW. What an amazing week you've had. I loved reading about you and your daughter...and if it's not too late, can you adopt me, too? Maybe we could get a group rate with the lawyer! Seriously, it really is enjoyable when you talk about your kids. I can almost picture it!
How nice to have a home base in Nashville! That way, all your creative energy can be focused on partyin...er, song writing!

Gibby...Yay!! For downward momentum! It is amazing how the numbers affect your mood, isn't? I am holding myself to a once-a-week weigh in. The daily fluctuations really mess with me, too.

Abi...what a doll your granddaughter is! So glad you had a good time and were able to maintain all the while!

Artemis...wow. You've got alot going on. Hope you are feeling well and strong!

My weigh-in this morning is: 153. Yay for two more pounds! I'll take it!!

Have a wonderful day, y'all!

wow, kbeth!!!...so how much have you lost since we started the challenge?...seems like a lot!...

thanks for the kind words about my kids...i'll tell you a little story...when i was 25, i was in law school and a fun, carefree kinda wild child...my dad had passed away a couple of years earlier and we did not have much of anything financially...i was a dreamer, and had so many things i wanted to do and see and accomplish with my life...but after 5 months of dating a girl i met in boston, we got pregnant and everything changed...

before that, i wasn't sure i would ever settle down or be a dad, but once i found out she was pregnant, i knew what i had to do...so i asked her to marry me (which we did three months later), i left law school and started looking for a job...

that was 28 years and 5 kids ago...since the day i found out i was going to be a father, i have lived every single day trying to be the best dad i could be to those kids i brought into this world...every decision i have made has been with their best interests first and foremost in my mind...they like to point out that i am not perfect, but i can tell you that it is not for lack of trying...

at some point, i realized that i was not going to do some of the things i imagined i would, but because of them i have done some things i never imagined :-)

okay, i'll tell you guys what is becoming addictive for me: waking up knowing i just had a great day of eating the day before!!!!!...this is getting easier right now!...

abi, you're doing great on the signature tally...thanks for doing it!...

ff, are you sure you aren't eating eagle's wings?????

where's artemis?...don't make me worry about you, girl!

Morning!

ff, I'm glad you are feeling better. Giant wings sound great to me!

Tony, what a great story and good for you for "manning" up. You are a terrific father - I'm sure there are a lot of people out there who wish they had one.

Beth-Yea on the two pounds! That's great!

Whatever happened to BlondieBlue? I checked to see if she had been active on any other posts and she hasn't posted anywhere since May 4th. I hope she's ok.

Abi, you are going a great job of keeping track fro us. Thank you!

Today's eats:

B-two friend eggs
L-2 chicken thighs and a tomato
D-top sirloin steak and salad with ranch dressing

Arte....Vicki.....we are here for you.

by the time they are ready for eating,

u can call them what u want, i will call them delicious. I am hoping they will be done before 9 pm tonight. but, if they are not...well u cannot hurry a divine creation. but, i can smell them and taste the crunch as i bite into one. Tony, the next time u pass by the Parthenon in Nashville, perhaps u can take some pix from all sides, and the interior (or to whatever degree the interior is visible), and post then here. It would be most appreciated. Again, i had neither bkfst, nor lunch. I have plenty to drink though(drat, non-alcoholic)to get me through the rest of the day. My work station is right next to the office lunchroom, and i am picking up the effluvia of my colleagues eats. Talk to y'all later. gonna see if there is any coffee left. FF

Lost my post again!!! Tony, I owe you a nickle! Great story by the way. That happens alot but not with such a happy ending. Do you ever wonder if you had become a lawyer if you would have done so well with your song writing?

FF, hope you get outside more now that the rain has subsided. Let us know if you have as good luck with the B12 as Beth has.

Beth, I put you down for 2 pounds. Is that right, or did you lose some more a week ago?

Marilee, I remember Blondieblue saying she was going to New Orleans on vacation and then she was going to be in a wedding. I think she hinted she would join Tony's challenge when all this is done.

Talk to you all later!

wings are cooking, but not at the "speed of sound"

ergo, i will not be enjoying one tonight, but, oh, they smell like heaven. I would so love to share them with y'all. So, this little piggie ate roast beef, washed down by some Fresca. Very tired. I have an episode of L & O Criminal Intent featuring Jeff Goldblum. Doubt if I will be conscious at 9 PM. FF

Welcome DQ! You are doing great! I think joining Tony's challenge will get you right to your goal. By the way, I like my wine too!

FF, enjoy those wings today. I didn't know they still made fresca. I remember when they first came out with it.

Tony, real estate agent is coming for a walk through on Tues. I scheduled it for that day because my brother from Georgia will be here for a couple of days and went to school with him. I am about through with what I personally can do here. Am starting to job hunt now.

Hope you all have a great thursday Blitzers!

welcome DQ...this is the place to be

for creating and/or enhancing food behaviors. I am in awe of anyone that can sing and/or play an instrument. that will be my prime directive when i retire (if i can afford lessons, that is). Welcome DQ.

I will officially weigh in on Tuesday. Back on track after derailment. I made a huge salad yesterday that we can eat off of for several days. I also cleaned celery and carrots too. I usually do this so I have easy access to veggies. I am hoping to drop to below 200 before I officially return to work the end of August. Doable I think.

vicki, you can absolutely do it!...

abi, what kind of jobs are you thinking about?...you did a LOT of work on that house!...good luck with the sale...

ff, how the heck long do you cook turkey wings?...there is not much meat on them - they should be done in an hour or so at 350, no?...i guess if you want to crisp them, you could turn up the heat at the beginning or end...hmmmm....

recorded the vocal tracks on a new song in nashville yesterday - got to be there through live-streaming...the girl who sang it did a great job!...they recorded the music tracks on tuesday, and i will get the final mix next week and i think it will be cool...

i made the fateful call yesterday and got an appt with the head of orthopedic surgery at mass general hospital for june 21st...this will probably set in irrevocable motion, my march toward surgery...i have accepted it is necessary and, unless by some miracle my new weight loss binge gives me relief, it has to be done soon...

this is the guy who operated on the governor of massachusetts last year when he needed to have his hip done...i googled the governor's surgery and that's how i chose this doc! :-)

expecting another good day today...right now i am in a good place and have this under control, but I DO NOT take it for granted!...

have a great day today, kids!

Tony, that was a huge decision about your hip, but I'm proud of you for making the decision. I guess you reached the point of no return.

I think I told you before my sister had her hip replaced and was mad at herself for not having it done sooner. The recooperation is the hard part, but I know you have a loving family that will wait on you hand and foot and make sure you do your rehab.

Keep us posted.

BTW, I'd love to hear the new song. When you can, can you either send it our way or let us know when it is released so we can hear it?

i am such a self-centered fat little troll....

i had to backtrack to read your thread about your hip operation. If it is a hip replacement, no need for concern. the hip is a less complicated connection than the knee. i had a total knee replacement in July 30, 2002. i was back at my work station on 8/26/02. I started work an hour earlier, so that i could have an extended lunch hour for my physical therapy. the PT was the "fun" part. Besides, you are a very hip HEWMON, so u will be just fine. Make sure to wear clean underwear (lol). As far as my turkey wings go, they are quite meaty, even after cooking. I put them in at 350 degrees for to 1 &1/2 hrs in the baking oven. Then, I take the foil off up the temp to 475 for 45 minutes. Then i take them out, keeping the foil loosely on top(tenting) until cool enough to handle. then i wrap them separately, and put them in the fridge. Formerly, i would have stretched them out to 2 meals. this time, it would be nice if i could get 8 meals out of it. But i will be very proud of myself, if they last for 4 meals. Of course times are based on size. I use the following spices: minced garlic (from a shaker, cracked black pepper, Mrs Dash, celery seed (one side only), poultry spice, and paprika(generously) for color. It's gonna be a long afternoon. FF

kbeth, wow, that is great that you have lost 8 lbs. during the blitz...i'm 1 lb. behind ya at 7!...actually, since i weigh 65 lbs. or so more than you, what you are doing is MUCH MORE IMPRESSIVE!...nice work, girl!

Hey Vicki! How are you enjoying your summer vacation? Salads are so satisfying now as the weather warms up. What kind of dressing do use? I love Newman's olive oil and vinegar. Know you are going to hit that goal by the end of the summer!

Tony, know you must suffer alot with that hip to make the move to get an appointment with the surgeon. Sounds like you have a good one lined up. Sure wish you could have some real relief just by losing afew more pounds.

Tony, I am probably going to take any job where someone will hire me. lol I am a jack of all trades but master of none. I have a BS in education but only taught one year so would pretty much have to get my masters to get into teaching. I have no real clerical apptitude so that leaves an office job out. I have contacted a job finding company so maybe they can help me. The help wanted ads in the Brattleboro paper have very few listed. May have to see what Keene has but that would be a pretty good drive esp. in the winter. Wish me luck.

FF, having a complete knee replacement sounds worse than a hip replacement to me. I don't know how they do either but my imagination tells me the knee is more scary. Those turkey wings must really meaty. You sure have that cooking procedure perfected. Enjoy!

Beth, should I add your pre- challenge loss to week one?

Marilee, you sound so upbeat! You are inspiring to us!

Had bratwurst and some low carb meat balls yesterday.

Have a great Friday all!

when i had my knee procedure done....

they were only doing one at a time. Now they are doing them bilaterally in one procedure, with less in-house stay time. these are becoming as routine as bariatric surgery procedures.Last evening, I saw some parts of that show where they have people weighing 1/2 ton or close to it. One lady had thegastric bypass procedure (she was almost 900 lbs.). the operation was a success. she was making progress, and feeling better. then she coded, but they could not save her. Very sad. It IS incredible the abuse the carbon based unit can withstand, but of course, as the show proved, not infinite. anyhow, it is Friday, and I am primed for out of the house existence for the weekend, even if it is just to sit and listen to my walkman (away from traffic noise). I know my hearing IS somewhat impaired, but not very. Oh, and I only consumed ONE appendage, and not FOUR. there IS hope. FF

Good morning! Up a pound on the scale, but probably just the usual ebb and flow. Tuesday morning should show a loss.

It's Friday! I'm so happy. Lots to do this weekend, but at least I won't be at work.

abi, what did you teach?...you might be surprised by what they are looking for in teachers...my wife studied biochemistry in college and stayed home for 17 years with our kids and then decided to see if she could get a job teaching science...since there is a critical shortage of math and science teachers, nh has a track for alternative certification and she learned on the job and has been teaching at one of the best high schools in the state for ten years and only has a b.s....

it's a tough job but it is nice that she is off when the kids are...

marilee, no worries about the lb. - that is completely normal and i think even necessary - i have those days too!...

it's 2:30 and i have not eaten a thing yet today...making skirt steak on the grill tonight...if you've never had it, you don't know what you are missing!...i didn't either until i tried it a month or so ago!...i'm just not gonna eat when i'm not hungry and see where that takes me for a couple of days...

have parties on sat and sun this week - a grad party for my nephew on sat and a 50th bday party for my cousin on sun...traveling both days, so i'm gonna skip meals and try to eat moderately at the parties...i don't see it as a problem as my motivation is so high right now...

ff, have fun outside - the weather is soooooo beautiful!
