Hi all....sigh
finally logged my LAST scheduled trip. I am so looking forward to 7 nights in my own bed. Got some bad news early this morning. My Uncle passed last night. He was diagnosed with lung/brain cancer this past summer. I'm glad he's in a better place, I do truly believe that. I just worry about my Mom. That leaves just her and her sister left. I'm glad my Mom got time with her brother yesterday. We just didn't expect him to go just like that. No funeral planned, he didn't want that. Just sometime in the future there will be a "gathering". It's always harder for those left behind. I've got an appt today with the gastro as a follow up to my colonoscopy. I'm hoping he'll have some ideas for my IBS. Then I am hoping to get to the gym. It's been almost 2 weeks. BUT my weight has been good. I had stayed the same from the day I left for Texas until Saturday...exactly 177.4. Got on this morning...175.6....so at least I'm staying true to my WOE I'll try and check in later. I see we're all kind of falling off with the craziness that is the warmer weather.. ideas? Sharon

Sharon, sorry for the loss of your uncle. Prayers for him, and for you and your family. Treasure the memories of him.
Still sick with sinuses and allergies. I'm going to abandon the carb/cal totaling and just try to get myself to eat ANYTHING for the time being! I'll be out of touch until about Tuesday, with possible lurking on my phone during that time and maybe short check-in messages, but no computer access. I'll be back and recovering from any damages after I get over this crud! Right now it's hard to make myself eat anything, and I know I need to, even if it's no-no food (and I think some of it may be ). I'm thinking, no, I won't even say it! I don't want to tempt anyone else over to the Dark Side! ![]() See y'all next week! Have a great weekend!

Just thought I would stop in and say hi! It looks like this group has become not active anymore. Thats too bad because it was alot of fun. But lately anytime I look hardly anyone has dropped by. I guess that how it goes and changes come with the seasons. Have a wonderful long weekend here and I am still losing, 73lbs now and very happy. Also still pole walking at least 20 km a week. I know I could do more be thats lots for me. Hope everyone and well and busy in their lifes!

Hi, asdf! I'm just turning the corner from quite an illness, including allergic reaction to my antibiotics!
Hopefully we can get this thread active like it was! ![]() I'm on Memorial Day Challenge and its sequel, July 4th Challenge, and also on Sarge's Bring It to Lose It. Some of the same people are on these, and the threads are a lot of fun, but they are more geared toward losing weight of course, not so much encouraging us to value ourselves more, which I know I need. It always seems better for me to do something for someone else than to take time for me! That's why this thread was great for me! ![]() Grandma Jo, what kind of awful weather? It's hot here, of course, and I can only get out when the sun is really low to water the garden because of my antibiotics. Have a great Memorial Day Weekend! Say a Thank You for what we have been given! |

yeah i like the talking part more and it actually makes me want to come on here and type, instead of just strictly talking about low carbing. i saw the memorial day challenge, guess ill start on the 4th of july one, thanks!
husband got overtime so no plans for us this weekend might tag along with a friend's plans but it would have been nice to have a mini vacation with the husband. ah well, we need to get his overtime in this summer before school starts again in the fall (Brag Alert: I got all A's this semester! and it is sticky here! i do not like the summer at all. the worst is forcing myself to go to the beach because the kids deserve it. but i HATE the beach for some many reasons!! hope everyone enjoys their weekend and get to relax a little!

Ok if your all coming back so am I, miss you all bunches! ♥ Now gotta tell you what I did today, so so proud of ME!!!! BTW 73 lbs gone now so I need to do some updates but I will when I have more time. SOOOOOOOO I walked my 5km pole walk this morning and then at 1:00 me and my youngest son entered a 3 km Sparten Obstacle Race. We had a blast, finished in 45 mintues, fell on the trail and got a black eye, fell of a balance beam and hit my head on a tree, bruises everywhere and every bone in my body hurts and i have never had more fun in years. We laughed all the way threw, climbed a wall, pulled up a bucket of rocks , crawled under netting and all I could think about was last Aug I would of never ever thought at 54 I would be able to do this. I couldn't do anything with my weight on and now I know how important it is for my boys to see my able to do stuff so they can as well. Today I have the scars of battle but nothing a little motrin can't help but dam it I am so proud of me!!!!!!!!! Welcome back all of you I have missed you all so much.

haha that definitely sounds like it was fun, a painful fun that is
you must feel so good!! im back and i have picked up a couple little bad habits. back to 2 rounds of coffee a day, SF candy serving, 1 serving size of nuts, 1 slice of pickle, etc- all things i was doing before my break but now its like i use all my snacks every single day! just got to get down to not wanting to munch as much which will probably take a little time. tomorrow ill cut out the pickle every day since thats the easiest for me to give up... or lets see, thats 4 different snacks a day- maybe ill start with only 3 snacks a day tomorrow. either way, im cutting some fillers out! good news for my family- my husband got out of the second overtime so we are heading to the shore tomorrow morning (as everyone is coming back home ) and staying just for the night and the next day. should be nice. i was really upset when my husband accepted the overtime in the first place because he said he knew how hard it has been for me to be done school and home with the kids all day and night- and he promised we would be doing things on his 2 days off- and the very next day he took the overtime! MEN! ![]() but anyway, now we are going. ill stop by in the morning, maybe think/type out a plan to stay on plan while down there.... cya!!! Last edited by asdf1234; 05-27-2012 at 02:00 PM.. |

(GJo- that does sound like strange weather! hope work is going well)
hello, back from the shore and only one post! hehe oh well. i did HORRIBLE at the shore. the first day my husband went on the beach with my family and i stayed at the house with the baby (we didnt get there until close to noon so it wasnt worth the short trip before nap time). needless to say, there was NOTHING to eat at the house. so i had an atkins bar and waited for them to get back to the house....and waited...and waited... until 6 pm! angry that they were having so much fun they forgot about me sitting bored at the house! so i was cranky and starving. by the time we got to dinner ( 7pm!) i ordered wings... AND THEY WERE BREADED AND GREASY! i was in a wicked mood! so i ate them anyway so i threw everything out the window and just ate terrible. i actually did not enjoy a single meal either, it was such a waste! so i woke up tghis morning feeling so gross BUT very determined. that will be my LAST non planned off day! i actually took a very long walk today with the baby and i NEVER EVER exercise! and i didnt even want a morning coffee today- im telling you, i felt so crappy from that bad food! hope the feeling stays ![]() so for my first time trying to exercise ![]() |

Wow! Great news from some of you! Straight A's for asdf! Grandma Jo -- 73 pounds and that Obstacle Course! That course must have been a blast! We're proud of both of you, and I'm sure your families are too!
![]() asdf, sorry the beach trip didn't go as planned, but it sounds like you are going to make a good learning experience out of the eating off plan, so that's a plus! Maybe we should all make sure we have a few "approved" goodies stashed away in our purses or suitcases so we are not caught off guard like that! ![]() Snowflakes? We're under a heat advisory and trying to survive 109 heat index right now. Laura, you are having this heat too, so stay inside and cool! It was late in the morning before dh and I got out to work in the garden and it was already hot today! Dh says we are going to set the alarm to get up earlier so we can work out there longer! By the way, asdf, your dh reminds me of our son. He always has a second (or third) job to do on his days off! You gotta love these hard workers, but they need to make some time for themselves and families, sometimes too! ![]() Enjoy today! ![]() |

Hi Everyone,
sorry that I've been absent. We've been spending time at the trailer my life is now revolving around packing for the trailer, going to the trailer, doing laundry from the trailer, and going to work. The good news is, I am now down a total of 27 pounds!! Next weigh in is June 11th, and I am hoping for a couple more then too. Anyway, I will try to catch up later, but for now it's back to the laundry! |

everyone! Neeters! Great news about the 27 pounds! ![]() We have our pop-up camper home from months at Boy Scout camp -- we were there so often that we were invited to just leave it there while we needed it. Now we have some repairs and renovation (curtains, cabinets, etc.) to do on it. We bought it new, but that was many years and many miles ago! Grandma Jo, my coffee could probably count as 2 cups -- we use huge mugs! But now I love my Texas pecan coffee. We have to sit on the deck and love the dog while we drink it -- that's what the dog tells us, anyway! That's HER time! ![]() asdf, are you keeping up with your walking? That's one of the best things for us, "they" say. Stay determined about clean eating, too! ![]() Laura, where does dh fish? I've always wanted to go on one of the offshore boats. Dh has done it, but says it is too much "work." Maybe I can get some of my Red Hat sisters to go with me! We'd probably scare the fish and the boatmen away! ![]() We are going with two other couples on our own little "winery tour" tomorrow. One of the other women can't handle the sulfites in wine, so she's our "designated driver!" I'll let you know how this turns out! ![]() Everyone is busy, but make some time for yourselves! ![]() |

and yeah my husband can be a workaholic. with his job, they pick favorites when handing out overtime so he hates turning any down or they wont ask him any longer- and with me in school, we live on that OT! so he does make me proud that he does that for me.... Neeters- great job on the loss!!! and i feel that way about the shore- my family has a shore house so i try to go down alot for the kids (cant stand it myself though haha) but it DOES feel like i never fully get unpacked before im packing again!Hey Texas- saw a red hat group out at dinner the other night- thought of you! and yes! 3 days in a row i have been walking! yay! dont know if i can manage that on the weekend but im going to try and think of a plan, hmmm. weekends means i have to take the 3 yo too (i go after i drop him off at school) and i dont have a double stroller, so they would have to bunk up in the single one dont know if im ready for that one! |

ASD its to bad you didn't have a great time at the beach but next time you will remember YOUR food!
Remember your important too!!! And great work with your walking. I think as well as being good for you it helps stress levels and mine have been through the roof but the walking is really helping, as well as dealing with some things that I needed to deal with. I am walking at least 20 kms a week now , did 24 this week. My weight loss has slowed down but I have muscles everywhere that I didn't before. Keep it up it pays off and should help you lose and its hard to eat and push a stroller![]() Neeters 27 lbs way to go girl hope your enjoying your summer. Texas Cowgirl I couldn't stand the heat you guys have, I love being outdoors and that heat would drive me indoor so I couldn't enjoy my summer. I like it around 25C/78 F and sunny with a breeze, just like it is today Skinny frozen Margaritas after work in the sunshine, followed by hot chicken wing, my kinda summer!! Laura hi back at ya! I really don't know how you guys do that heat but food from the garden is so great so I do understand. You are doing great BTW and you must feel so good!So something cool happened to me today, it showed me how far I have come. The people that run the urban pole walking group have to start up alot of sport programs for the youth on our island and doing that and have the group they have their hands full. So they came it see me at work today and asked if after next week if I would take over the group!! I was suprised because I never would of imagine anyone ever asking me to lead any sport. But of course I am going to do it and do it well!!! Cus I love my poles and the more people I can get out the merrier. When I am in a mood I can move along pretty quickly. Another good thing about them is I am getting a great tan, someone asked me today if I had been sitting out in the sun, nope just walking!! Well I hope you all have a great weekend and hopefully my scale will move tomorrow. Oh and I need to update my ticker tomorrow as well. |

GJo- i know, you have been so motivating with all your exercising! i think thats great. and thats awesome about them coming to you to help out- that would be a definite confidence booster in my book! yeah my problem is definitely partly boredom, now that im home all day. i try to do things with the kids constantly but its hard because of money- and i dont know how many times i can watch them go down a slide!
so i do realize i snack because im next to the fridge so often during the day. i hate summer (have i said that yet? ). i just have never liked the heat even when i weighed less. it makes me feel gross and lazy. dont know how you Texans do it!time to start the day, see ya |

Asdf, I've never done Atkins so I don't know what's allowed in induction.
Can you have watermelon? That's a great one for certain, um, "issues." Otherwise, probably any green leafies that you are allowed. ![]() I bet the Red Hatters you saw were having a blast. I know our chapter always does. We have 12 in our group, about half married and half divorced/widowed/single. It's great to have someone to go with to whatever, out to eat, an art show, play, concert, sale, you name it that I don't want to go to alone or drag poor, sweet, bored dh to! ![]() Grandma Jo, 78F and a breeze would be a good winter temp for Laura and me down here in South Texas! The secret to surviving the heat is to stay out of it! I always feel sorry for the construction workers (like my dad was) and others who don't have that luxury. on being asked to run the pole walking group! That really has opened up new interests and opportunities and is healthy exercise too! ![]() Laura, fishing, swimming and entertaining a niece and nephew would count as exercise in my book, but I know what you mean about needing to get back into exercising. I need to start bowflexing and treadclimbing again. But at least I am gardening and that is some exercise. I worked in the garden until 11:00 am yesterday, even though dh and I had already said we would be back in ac every day by 10:30 now. I was watering, weeding and fertilizing the veggie beds and fruit trees and didn't want to stop until I had finished! ![]() Last night, dh and I sat around a "campfire" in our firepit and listened to favorite old music. Even sang along with a few! Such a great, relaxing time! We want to get in some campfire nights before the burnban goes back into effect. Which will be soon if we don't get some rain! ![]() Make some good times for yourself! ![]() |

Sorry, asdf, didn't mean to lead you astray with the melon -- According to an app of mine, 1 cup has 11.5g carbs (9.4g sugars), but only 46 calories.
There's something so relaxing -- mesmerizing -- about sitting around a fire. Ours is just a metal firering, nothing fancy. We build a wood or charcoal fire, have a grill we can put on it to cook and Dutch ovens if we want to cook that way. We'll go out and do it again tonight when it cools off after sundown. Last night there were no mosquitos at all -- I was in a tank top and shorts and no bites at all! It was great! That's great to find out you've been doing a harder walking workout than you had thought! Have fun with the little guys at the school night tonight! I hope your son makes good friends there! ![]() |

Asdf way to go with the walking
, once you make it a habit you miss it when you can't walk and it will aid in your weight loss, give it time. As far as the bathroom thing I hate when that happens and like you its not normal for me so I think its even more painful because we are not use to it. I do the meds when I have to, over night and out of pain its just not worth it to me to feel like crap, no pun intended! I eat tons of celery and that does help alot.I have been picking at carbs lately not alot but enough to stall me and I was getting hungry so I knew what was happening. Started back on Induction on Sunday and already can feel the difference in myself. So enough of that going to get through the next few days and keep myself right on track. You hear about the carb creep but until it happens you don't know how easy it is to derail. I plan on having a loss this Sat and didn't have one last Saturday! Cowgirl I love fires in the fire pit in the back yard. My youngest turns 12 on Friday and it was looking like we would not be able to have a fire at his part because we were under a no burn but thats over now so hoping for good weather, they love having smores at the end of their partys and the big people like it to although no smores for me but a yummy hot dog or two toasted over the fire, covered in mustard and eaten right off the stick is my treat...yummmmmmmmy!![]() And I was thinking I could live in Texas in the wintertime! Hope your all having a great day and Hi Laura where ever your hiding , hope life is treating you well! |
