well....a woman I have worked with for over 20 years passed away this morning. She is a year older than me, has been married as long if not longer than me and has a son 1 year older than mine, and another one that is 2 years younger. She had been having chest pains this weekend and refused to let her husband(who also works here) take her to the ER. She came to work this morning and the girls in her office called one of our hospitalists, who in turn took her to the ER. They found blood clots in her lung, proceeded to fly her to St Louis, but she didnt' make it. Can't stop crying, couldn't make myself get lunch. You spend so much time with the people you work with, more sometimes than with your family, is like losing a family member.

I'm so sorry to hear about your coworker, that's devastating!

I changed up lunch. Went to Olive Garden instead. I read the menu AFTER I ordered my soup and salad.... stuffs so GOOOOOD there! Avoided everything in the salad except lettuce, cheese, and black olive. (theres only ever 1 or 2...) and had a bowl of Zuppa Toscana, avoiding the potatoes. If a lil tater got in there, i picked it out.

I want to try and make this at home, but maybe with more sausage of course, and some cauliflower instead of potatoes. NOMS!!!

BlondieBLue-I have posted a recipe on this site for a soup I revised from someplace I ate and it is so addicting, I really only make it once in a while, but is very good. You use spinach, chicken broth, cauliflower and italian sausage, it's the italian sausage that adds most of the carbs, but it is really good. I'll see if I can find it on here, can't remember the name of it now.

This soup is so good, it originally called for 8 potatoes, diced, but I substituted cauliflower, and it was VERY tasty! The sausage gives it a bit of a kick!!!

Ingredients: 1 lb bulk italian sausage-cook/drain
1 pk Italian dressing mix(dry)
2 cups cauliflower florettes
1 10oz package frozen spinach or 2 cups fresh
4 cans chicken broth
salt to taste

How To Prepare: Cook Italian sausage thoroughly, drain. In soup pot, mix broth, dressing mix, and cauliflower, bring to a boil, lower heat to simmer, cover and simmer for 10 minutes. Add drained sausage and spinach, heat throughly, serve.

Number of Servings: approx 8

Carbs per serving - :
Carbs-4.5 ; Fat-136 ; Protein-113 ; Calories-1824 Totals are for entire recipe
Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Effort (Easy, Average, Difficult): Easy

: yummy:

Tasha I am sorry about your coworker. I am the youngest in my office and sometimes I think the healthest. I worry about this. Don't let something like this get to and make you eat that won't help you feel better but I will pray for you and her family.

Well I went to dinner with a friend and was very good stuck to the salad with a grilled chicken breast. I even asked to please not add any extra fat. I hope I don't see a gain on the scale. Yes I am a daily weigher but that is what keeps me going.

Good morning everyone. Busy day today. Everyone is very down, they are going to call in counselors to help. I'm doing ok, just very sad.

I stayed on plan yesterday on my day one....thank goodness.

Today's menu:

B: nothing, was running late and a little queasy
L: salad with ranch, crystal lite peach tea
D: baked pork chops, cabbage
S: boiled egg and mozz cheese stick

Everyone have a great day and stay on plan! I haven't weighed since Friday, so really don't know where I stand. Kinda had a carb fest over the weekend, so am sure am up over the 215 I was at on Friday. We'll see.

Thanks!!I have worked here for this is my 21st year and we have had people pass away, but it has always been people that had worked here previously with the exception of one man down in the lab. Consider myself extremely lucky that this has never happened before, but is doubly bad because she and her husband both work here, so we know their family very well. Just one of those things that happens I know, but is scary because she was my age.

Morning All!!!

I jumped on the scale this morning and I'm holding at 204.6. As long as it's not going up, I'm OK. But I REEEEEEEAAAALLLLLYYY want to break 200, and I'd love to do it by Friday. Anyone have any good tips?

Dinner last night was just a few bites of steak that I cooked for the boyfriend. He's loving this "meat diet" as he calls it, because he doesn't care much for side dishes- just meat.

B: 2 turkey sausage patties
L: about 4oz of steak and a salad of lettuce and ranch
D: Tuna melt w/ slice of cheddar- no bread. noms!

Hi Blondie blue,
What I've noticed about my body and losing weight is that I drop faster if i drink tons of water and do some sort of exercise.
Yesterday morning, I was at a higher weight. I stepped my game on exercise and did 2 miles on the treadmill with 2 pound ankle weights ( I know it's not much mileage but I hate working out). I dropped 2.4 pounds over night.

Hi everyone. Good to read all the updates. Sueshe sorry to hear of your coworkers passing

I too have noticed that drinking water and excercising helps my weight loss. I never really drank water until this past month. Now I carry it with me. I've also noticed that my skin is much clearer looking.

I stayed on plan all day and now I'm going to yoga later tonight. It's a challenge doing this with one arm lol

Hope everyone has a great evening. Karen.

B: nothing
L: salad, crystal lite peach tea

Hope everyone is doing well. Going to try to find something to do tonight to keep me out of the kitchen. May clean out my sock and underwear drawer .

Don't feel like I'm losing anything, but can't seem to get rid of the diet soda. I can't stand water, hate it, hate everything about it, but know it is a key to losing weight and flushing all that junk out of your system. Have to get to where I can drink water again.

Have a good day!

Hey karen, this past week, ive been exercising. Not hard core. I only do two miles a day on the treadmill, and i wear ankle weights and im drinking tons of water. Im losing more doing this in combination with the atkins. It certainly does help when you get moving

Happy Humpday!!! Finally mid-week... Today I'm weighing in at a frail 204.2!!! Getting so close to breaking that barrier...

B: 2 turkey sausage patties
L: 2 tilapia filets
D: not suuuure... want to try to make the sausage soup, might do that!

My promise for today: I will NOT consume 1 energy drink (caffeine junkie right here) until i have had 2 liters of water.

Last night I tried on my "goal jeans". They went on and buttoned, but despite pouring myself into them, they are still about 10 lbs away from being socially acceptable for public viewing. I'm gettin there...

Still haven't motivated myself onto the elliptical yet.

As for the elliptical, ugh, i hate it. too much work. LOL. im more of a mall walker.

Hey, all!

I am still here - not doing anything, though. I have got a really bad cold and I don't cart what I eat right now.

I will be back into it maybe tomorrow.

Starting weight for Feb is 195, Tasha! I would love to see 188 by end of Feb. I am going to Vegas (for a work convention) next week so 7 lbs would be fine!

Feel crummy..........

Good morning all. Staying on plan. I have a girls only pj party tomorrow night so I'm going to try making the low carb pizza if it works I'll take it with me

I love the recipes on the lighter side.

Exercise and water intake seem to be key for me. I walk my dog three times a day. Not super fast too much ice here and I go to yoga 3 times a week. Again not very strenuous due to my arm it's mostly stretching. It seems to be working for me

Well I hope you all have a great day. Happy low carbing. Karen.

204.0 This morning!!! Getting there! Got my hair done last night, so I'm feeling ultra sassy. Boyfriend keeps commenting on how much I've lost and how thin I'm looking. I kinda roll my eyes because it's only been 13 lbs... but inside i'm going, "wwwwwweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!"

B: 2 turkey sausage patties
L: 2 tilapia filets
D: Undecided. Need to go grocery shopping so might have a real dinner, or I might be lazy, not go to the store after work, and eat a piece of cheese for dinner, idk...

Good mid morning everyone And Happy Groundhog day! Don't think it matters if the groundhog sees his shadow or not, we have had an insanely warm winter, is supposed to be in the 60's again today and lots of sunshine....very very strange winter we are having!

Going to funeral home tonight, not looking forward to that....very somber mood around work.

Today's menu:

B: nada
L: not sure, they are having pecan crusted tilapia downstairs, but don't know what is in the 'crusted' part so.... maybe just a salad and hamburger patty.
D: will have to eat out, the funeral home we are going to is 45 minutes from our house, we won't be able to leave home until 5:30, so.....but will try to make lc choices!

Hope everyone has a great day!

So excited about the weigh in tomorrow. I have been eating perfect and even took my own chicken and brussel sprouts to the potluck. I am hoping to be paid with a nice weigh in tomorrow.

See everyone in the morning for those new low numbers!!

Good morning everyone. Today's weigh in is not good for me since I haven't been eating right. Blame myself, nobody else. Up 2.5 lbs from last week.

Let me know your numbers and I will get the chart posted today before I leave today.

I have gotta get back on the wagon!
