Hey you guys! I think I'll join you!! Hope you had great holidays!

I actually had joined another challenge since I am close to goal but I think I am going to drop out of that one since I just quit smoking and I won't be losing weight for a bit.

I read that most people gain 10 pounds when they quit as a result of their metabolism slowing down and that it can take 6 months to lose it again.

I am less than 14 pounds from my goal weight so....my goal during this challenge is to not gain any weight from this non smoking thing, and by the time the challenge is over, to have reached my goal weight.

My weight today is 153.4.

Please pray that I can completely kick this smoking monster for good!

Today's menu: B: Water
L: Cheeseburger Pie and salad
D: Chicken Alfredo (no pasta) and salad

Tasha, have fun tonight!! And I would be happy to maintain the spreadsheet if you want me to.

Beth

Hi Beth! I would be more than happy for you to do the spreadsheet! I'll post it today, and then you can take the info and charge forward with it

Please share your Chicken alfredo recipe!

let me just say congratulations on stopping smoking! I quit 4 years ago and it was the best thing I ever did. I am now one of the worst ex smokers ever , my husband doesn't like that part of it because he is still smoking. You can do it!!!

I don't have internet at work so I can"t check in during the day. Fridays I get off at noon or 1:00. Today I had to go shopping for snacks. I going out of town for a girls weekend, and the kids said there's nothing good to eat. $100.00 later and there's still nothing good to eat (I didn't just buy junk).

Better get going. Have a good weekend everyone! Liz

Hi Tasha & Cheryl!! Part of the old girls...I'm so glad to see you!! I have been mulling arond the idea of what plan to follow and I think that for the time being I am going to do something that I've never tried. I'm going to go the weight watchers route. Seems easy enough if I can stay away from cheese lol. I figure it can't really hurt to give it a try.

A big Hello to everyone else as well!!

Hi! I hope it's not too late to join...

My name is Alex. I currently weigh 128 lbs, and am placing my first goal at 115 lbs.
I had good success in late 2011 with low carb dieting, but have fallen off the wagon -- entirely. I'm going to shamelessly blame the holidays.
But now that the gifts are exchanged, the cookies are eaten and the decorations are taken down, it is time to get back down to business.

I miss fruit already.

Thx. I'm following induction on Atkins and I'm not sure if I'm doing this correctly. Perhaps someone can have a look???

Below is what I've eaten today not sure how I can get 20 grams of carbs or am I'm doing something wrong? I thought most of the carbs should come from veggies.

Breakfast 3 eggs, 4 strips of bacon, one tomato and 2oz of mozzarella cheese. 5 carbs
Lunch 1 cup of cucumber, 2 oz cheddar, 6 slices of salami and ranch dressing 3 carbs
Chicken breast, 2 cups of choy 4 carbs

Should I up my veggies? I lucked out here and found 0 carb meat and cheese. Thanks.

Karen-I may be old school but if your doing induction you really should watch your cheese ounces also how much tomato? Tomato is an iffie thing. You have to be mindful of them. If you like broccoli or cauliflower they are good to add in for good carbs. 20 is just your base number. As long as you are eating enough to not feel I'll or starving your probably ok carb wise.

Today I am starting on my big change. Breakfast was nice. Whole grain English muffin Canadian bacon and egg whites plus 1/2 of black berries. I have a soup to take for lunch& a snack. Not drinkIng pepsi is going to be my main issue. I know I need to take something to prevent the headache.

HELP! Restart January 3rd 2012, I had lost 3.6 pounds but Saturday tried that MIO in my water and I am nolonger in ketosis and gained back the 3.6 plus .2 more. What the heck? I drink 75-95oz of water a day and this is a typical meal plan. Breakfast-4 sausage patties, lunch - salad or grilled meats with peppers, dinner a grilled meat and veggie, like brocoli or green beans or okra. Snacks are pork skins and string cheese. I have read that the mio didnt bother any one else but I have stopped using it. Dont understand the weight gain. Very hurt feelings this morning. I DO NOT CHEAT NOT EVEN A TASTE!! PLEASE HELP!!!

Good morning everyone! I am still here. There will probably be times when I don't post often but will try to always post weigh ins. My brother has leukemia at 24 years old So I am with him alot and it is over 3 hours from my home and when we are staying at the Hope Lodge (for cancer pts to far from home to travel every day) there is NO WIFI! That is TOUGH! But anyway I was with him this weekend and I ate horrible---I always let him choose where we eat and it was just not good choices on my part at the places he chose this weekend. But back on track today. So I really hope I am not up too much by weigh in day! Looks like everyone is doing good

May I join you? Hi everyone! I was wondering if it would be ok if I joined you guys. I'm a 35 y/o woman in the 220's range and looking to drop around 75-80 lbs. I know it won't happen by this summer but I would really like to be fairly well under 200 by then. I recently tried the HCG diet (at my Dr.'s suggestion) and we'll just say that there were some unforseen complications there. Needless to say, I'm back to low carbing it. I'm sick to death of being fat and I don't want my girls to grow up having a fat mom. I also just quit smoking and am struggling with some craving issues there as well. Please let me know if it would be ok for me to join you. I really need some accountability... Thanks!

oh my gosh, I am so far behind.....not having a good last couple of days...ok food wise, but have done something to my back and am walking like an old person, can't hardly twitch without it hurting....really really don't want to go back to the chiropractor, have been going for the last 6 months and just stopped, they called my house repeatedly, even my cell phone wanting me to come back, think they are just milking my insurance and I am not getting much relief....what to do? Also, Friday my Grandmother(who lives in Florida) who is 86 and we are all very close, was taken to a hospice hospital. She has parkinsonism as well as a touch of dimentia....they think she had another stroke, and as of today, they called the family in and it is touch and go. My Mom just texted me and told me she is still with us but is really struggling. Hate so much for her to struggle like this, just hate it.

Today's menu:

B: 1 egg, 2 pc bacon
L: salad
D: bacon cheeseburger, no bun, green beans

I will try to respond to everyones posts, but we are doing a phone changeover at work to a new system, and is extremely busy, so if I miss anyone, I will go ahead and apologize now.

Alex- and I hear ya on missing the fruit, that is one of the things I miss the most. Just think though, later on you can start adding in berries and melon.....something to look forward to!!!

Karen-I'm old school too, I don't eat tomatoes unless I am getting really close to goal and even though bacon and salami is 0 carbs, it is still a frankenfood and you have to be careful of processed foods. I have bacon(in moderation), but am watchful of anything else, hot dogs, bologna, salami, anything like that that is processed. Depends on which 'induction' you are on....there are several.....I usually stick with the original.

Jennifer, Tektak

Terri-so glad you are in here

dropping4food-what is MIO? Also, when I eat porkskins, I retain water really bad, could that be it? Just a thought....

Hooligan - and congrats on quitting smoking! I hear ya on the being fat thing, I am tired of being the fat one!!! Sick and tired, everyone with the exception of me and my son are if not thin, at least at a healthy weight! I want to get there, and so does he!

Gotta run, will check back in tomorrow! Everyone have a great day!

Ok, I am starting late but would like to join in. I have a goal of 8 pounds by then end of the month. I have been off track for over a year and just can't get it back together. I have gained and want it back off for good.

So please put my starting weight at 200. I hate even writing that.
