Crazy Nasty Honey Badgers Getting Tough in 2012
OK kids, this challenge is for all you honey badgers ready to not give a S*** about what is in front of you, carbs will be banished from your sight, exercise will be happening, will power will be in full gear! We are bad A** toughies ready to take on the the first quarter of 2012 and shed some pounds!
Maybe you need to take a look at the honey badger, they have gotten quite popular: They are one of the most fearless animals in the animal kingdom, no carbs pass their lips, they find an animal, pure protein and eat it, they are impervious to most venom, nothing stands in their way! That is going to be this group, we are committing the next 12 weeks to be as fearless as possible in the face of carbs, we are committing to regular exercise, no excuses---no I dont have time, no I am tired, no nothing, there is no reason to not start dedicating at least 30 minutes a day 3 times a week to some sort of exercise! You don't have to run a marathon, put on some shoes and go take a walk!!! There will be no binges on random carbs, you will pick a plan any plan, I dont care what plan you follow, but you are going to follow it to a "T", no deviations, no special occasions, we are focused on meeting our weight loss goals, and improving our overall health! We are striving to be the best that we can be! I am suggesting that weigh in day is Monday, some people...like yours truly have been making weekends a little too lose with eating and drinking, so weigh in Monday no excuses, unless you are away on vacation or out of town and state that you will be. If you are committed to this 12 week challenge, tomorrow I want you to state your name, your weight as of tomorrow morning, a goal for the week and 12 weeks, it is good to have long and short term goals, and whatever your biggest obstacle to your own success is. Any New Years resolutions are welcomed, as we can try to support you in whatever you may need! We will all be here to offer support and encouragement along the way, you can whine, but only if you are sticking to plan. You miss a weigh in post, you are off the island, everyone needs others support and encouragement. We also want you to post your victories, maybe you passed on the office donut cart, maybe you declined a social invitation to eating, maybe you had a really great workout, share that, people gather strength and inspiration form others, seeing they can do it! I will make a chart with Monday's names and weights, if you dont weigh, you dont make the chart! This is for those select individuals serious about losing weight in 2012, you don't like it? Too bad!!! Honey badgers dont give a **** what you think! Good luck! Amber

Thought I better start out!
Amber- (weight, to be determined tomorrow morning!) My weekly goal is to get in 4 strength training workouts, and 3 runs on the C25k program- I am going back to week 4 and working my way up again,Thursday yoga class and Saturday spinning class 10 solid hours of exercise. I am sure my weight will be reflecting at least a 10 pound gain from the last 10 days of eating whatever carby junky food, and several bottles of wine that crossed my lips! So for this first week a 5 pound loss would be nice! Realistically I have been losing maybe 1-2 pounds per week, so I will take that. I really want to get to 198 my original doctor's goal by the end of Jan, this has been eluding me since Sept, all my own fault!!! I am planning on stomach surgery in the Spring and would really like to be in the 180's if possible and settle on a weight after surgery of 175, that would be 175 pounds lost 50% of me gone! My biggest obstacle is the weekends, more social activities, more booze, I need to get back to being uber focused on my goal, and just say no!!! I also need to quit smoking this month, that is going to be a toughie, and a huge battle but I am determined to quit and lose weight!!!! The smoking must get behind me for good, and I cant let that derail my eating! I struggle to find the right balance of carbs to fuel tough workouts and cardio so that will be an on going struggle, but I am going to eat as low carb as possible and target some healthy carbs pre and post workout, and make sure I have plenty of protein and healthy fats in my diet! I also want to limit my coffee consumption and splenda usage. I am trying to focus on whole foods and get away from the frankenfoods, and incorporating some healthy green drinks into my diet for added energy and endurance! |

Amber, did you see how many people looked at the challenge and then slowly backed away hoping not to poke the badger? |

TWELVE WEEK GOAL: 30lbs plus pounds gone forever.
Week one: 2 meals and 4 protein drinks (1200-1500 calories daily and no more than 30 carbs daily), 8 glasses of H2O daily, exercise for the week: 2 spin classes, 2 bodypump classes, 2 bodycombat classes, walk 21 miles. My obstacles: Having been off the low carb wagon for more than a minute my biggest obstacle is going to be just saying no to that gotta have it craving. Carbs are like crack to me so seeing/smelling something that looks/smells good and just having to try it feeling even if I am not hungry is going to be hard to kick. But heck I am a Honey Badger now...I am going in hardcore. I am sure the carb cravings will subside after week one. I am also going to just say no to eating out until I have the craving under control. Until then, I am going after my goals Honeybadger style and taking control of the situation. Confession is good for the soul: My current weight is 260 ( hard to type because yes I have gained weight from my last low carb stint and postings on lcfriends...lesson learned this is not a diet but a life style change. Biggest lesson learned, if you don't like your truth change it!).

Hey I am in!!!
My goal is to be 175 in twelve weeks...... I plan to figure out my strength training plan since I just finished reading "New Rules of Lifting for Women" Realize that no matter how good it looks or smells, nothing tastes as good as skinny feels. (or what I think skinny would feel like... )PLAN, PLAN, PLAN my meals with a lot more protein, lean meat, whole grains, good carbs, good fats. Make good choices when I go out to eat and no snacking from my daughter's kids meals.... If I eat something that is not on plan, move on and don't let it be an excuse to have an ALL out eat off plan binge! I really have problems with this. I hope to be an inspiration to all of you in some form or fashion! ![]()

Hello, my name is Angela, and I am a mean nasty honey badger.
I have goals and I will achieve them. I consider my fat to be a parasitic alien fat blanket, and I AM GOING TO WAR on its ass. I am starving it out, I will not feed it what it needs to stay plumped and in control of my willpower. It wants sugar and wheat and it wants to eat all day long. Nothing can make me bend to its will. NOTHING. I am at war. The Parasitic Fat Blanket is GOING DOWN. My Plan: *I am doing a very successful combination of The Carbohydrate Atkins Diet and Good Old Gold Standard Atkins. I am eating only three meals a day, and absolutely no snacks or commercial drinks. I do not count carbs or calories, this honey badger doesn’t give a **** about those things. I have my three low carb meals, they are big and filling and satisfying and healthy and I really enjoy eating them. This is for life: It needs to be bonehead simple; it needs to be able to go anywhere I go; and I need to be happy. It is simple, I can eat like this anywhere, and I am happy. I will continue this for the next 12 weeks without so much as a jealous flutter at what is not on my plate. *I am allowing homemade low carb sweets to enter the picture on special occasions only. One time deals. I have proven myself over Christmas, and I will prove I can handle it again when a special occasion crops up. *I will be walking my dog DAILY. Sometimes twice daily. I am excluding terrible inclement weather, sickness, and when my mother’s dog is over (come on, juggling two stinky muddy wet dogs, an umbrella and several bags of crap is just the pits. Even a honey badger has to draw the line somewhere.) However, I expect that to be the exception, not the rule. If it’s not dumping buckets, I will be out there walking my dog morning and night. EVEN ON WEEKENDS. *I own a set of Kettlebells, a great Iron Core dvd, and I will use them at least 3 times a week. OH YES I WILL. I love my kettlebells, I’m really looking forward to making this a regular thing! *I will be trying one brand new dinner recipe every single week. I really need to branch out with my food! I WILL WIN THIS WAR BY TEARING IT DOWN LIKE A HONEY BADGER WITH A RATTLESNAKE! I’m already winning. I just need to continue the battle. ![]() |

I don't think I would like to meet one of those animals in the wild - they are something else. I didn't realized how non discriminating they are in what they eat!! Protein certainly does seem to be their choice!! Maybe if we ran around like they do and only eat snake we would all be very svelte!!
As a lot of you know we love to travel and we are leaving on a long trip shortly. I will not have unlimited computer time to keep up with all of you lovely people so will not be able to be part of the challenge. I will miss all of the inspiration I get here. When we travel we eat as low carb as possible and usually do fairly well, but I had hoped to be a bit leaner before we left again. Have a great and successful challenge and I want to see all of you make the goals you have set for yourself. ![]()

I am in - I am a mean, nasty honey badger, and I will be rooting for the honey badgers for the next 12 weeks (except on January 9 when I will be rooting against a particular Honey Badger - Roll Tide!)
I'm doing Paleo for at least the month of January. I am cutting out caffeine, artificial sweeteners and dairy (I've already cut out grains and sugar). I will be eating lots of veggies and adding back fruit. I will be weighing only once a week and I won't be counting either carbs or calories, although I'll be aware of them. I will also be adding much needed exercise - my goal is 30 minutes of moving at least 4 times a week and 1 or 2 strength training sessions. My 12 week goal is to get to 125. My biggest obstacle is laziness - manifesting itself in lack of planning. I have to start planning meals and following through on my meal plans instead of grabbing what's easy, because what's easy is usually not the best choice. I did go shopping yesterday and stock up on meat, fish, eggs and veggies, and I've got a big batch of turkey jerky in the dehydrator right now. I just have to stick with the planning and keep the foods I need on hand. There's always going to be junk in this house because of DH and the 3 kids, and it's way easier to avoid the junk if I've got the good stuff at the ready. OK, fellow honey badgers - let's do this! |

Seabreeze- you have permission to be away, LOL We all know you and love you so you are a honey badger!!!! You don't have to do your weights and stuff!!! You are in with whatever capacity you see fit!!!
Welcome to all the newbies, you will find we are a crazy and fun bunch!!! I am excited to see our regulars and new people this is what we need to stay on track!!! Can't wait to see everyone post tomorrow! I will make the chart tomorrow along with the weights and then we can fill in ourselves. Post your highest weight and I will see if Tony can write a formula for us to track our total percentage of weight loss, I think it is good to see how far you have come, bring it on, I am ready finished the last of the bubbly and I know this old fat bod is ready for some clean eating and routine again!!! Angela- is a dear friend and her renewed self discipline was the reason for this challenge, she lost 17 pounds the month of Dec with her vigilant attack on her fat blanket so she gets big kuddos for inspiring us all to take a hard look at what we are doing! I know I spent 10 days eating everything that crossed my path! I am dreading that weigh in but its time to face the number, its just a number that is only going down, so we face it and do what we need to do, I am excited, excited to be in honey badger mode and saying no and finding some freaking self control that has been MIA!!!! |

Ok. Found you. I am in, although, I am quaking in my lil ole shoes here, fearing I will be the first one taken out by the Ferocious Honey Badger (where'd they come up with that misleading name?!). I am afraid I have added to my 5 lb. holiday weight gain with the eating I allowed from dd's New Year's Eve Sleepover last night and all day today so....... My goal is simply to exercise 4 times a week which is major for me as I hate exercise. Do I have to specify what exercise I will do 4x a week or just meet my 4x a week goal? I will set my weight loss goal after tomorrow morning's weigh in. Sure hope I can sleep tonight!!

Hi Amber and everyone - I would like to join your challenge. Sounds like you all are serious and ready to get down to business. I am new to this, although I have done Atkins in the past and lost 60 lbs. I have been eating out of control for the past three months and gained back 22 lbs! Boy - it sure came back on quick! I will start on Atkins ongoing weight loss and stay just under 30 carbs/day. Will also start exercise by walking regularly and doing the stairs (can't afford the gym). Not sure if I will feel lousy the first few days as I get these nasty carbs out of my system. I would like to shoot for at least 20 lbs in 12 weeks! I'll check in tomorrow with my weight, I believe I am starting in at around 200 and working to get to 160.

OK this crazy honey badger is not the best with excel, but I have it set up that if you put in your heaviest weight, you know the time you were most horrified on the scale and then your weekly weight it will tell you your % of fat lost, I will update each week. If you dont see your name on the chart I missed you so feel free to add yourself, we have 13 weigh ins, our nasty one tomorrow and then all down hill from there which is a good thing!

Oh don't be scared I am really a doormat ---lol---it is hard for me to be tough, LOL But I gotta be tough on myself, saying oh you lost so much Amber you can eat, you work out, has gotten me no closer to my goal, so no more Mrs. Nice Girl, I am a mean honey badger!!!
Nothing ticks me off more than when we get to know people, we banter, we worry about them, and they fade into oblivion usually it means they are eating off plan, I want to keep everyone here and focused for 12 weeks! I dont care what exercise you do, as long as you state a goal like the 4 times a week and do it! Exercise is important, that is one area many struggle with, I overcame that last year, and I love it, and I know you will love it and the results! Planning is a big part of success that seems to be another area that people struggle with, Angela has a great thread started with all the LC meals she cooks, that is how she stays on track, it does take some planning! Spend some time coming up with menus, do your shopping do your prep work, have snacks ready at work and home, cut up your veggies, whatever saves you time, or leaves you prepared to grab something healthy! One thing I do is have my hubby grill up a bunch of meat on Sunday then I have meat ready to go, I am a terrible griller, and I get home from the gym around 5:30 my son is chomping at the bit, then make some veggies and we are ready to go!!!! Wow!!! I absolutely love this thread!!! This is great!! Can't wait to start! Okay quick request not sure if this will be too much for everyone! =/
But would it be possible for us all to maybe stop in and post a quick "what we had for breakfast, lunch, and dinner" everyday or even just whenever we have any free time or even just at weigh ins. Nothing in detail too much but just to give us an idea so at the end of the 12 weeks we can kind of see what type of diet and eating plan seems to really kick butt... Almost like a mini experiment! I'm new to this whole low carb dieting so I'm trying to absorb all the info I can get!! Not sure if I'm over stepping my boundaries!! If its too much to ask scratch that idea Ohhh Hi Everyone... By the way I'm Leila... I've been stalking around everyones blogs I feel like I already know half of you! Hahaha Last edited by loop4yah; 01-01-2012 at 06:57 PM.. |

Thats GREAT to hear!! But to be honest!! I'm really interested to see what your going to be eating bejewlme...
Hmmm that sounds a little creepy!! Hahaha But I noticed while I was being a creeper on your blog that your also going to be pushing the workouts pretty hard... As I will be too!! And you already seem so motivated and determined! Which is just what I need! I wanted to stay within 20 carbs or less but I don't know if that will be enough to push me through my workouts... SOoOo I was kind of hoping to kind of cheat and use you as my reference hahaha |

Hello ladies, and Seth whenever he drops in.
My goal this week is to try and quit the cigs. Man quitting makes me want to punch a baby. (Kidding!) I will get through the irritability though and push through!! I am going to use my weights at least two days this week. 12 week goal: lose 20 lbs, quit smoking, stop being a lazy bum Food this weekend has been good, but like my usual weekend routine, I eat too much. Weight today: 210.5 I will post my weight tomorrow... I don't wanna piss the queen HB off now!! ;-) |

Wow, look at all the newbies!
This will be fun - This honey badger is ready for battle! I've been off plan (and by off plan I mean stuffing my face with everything I wouldn't usually consider eating) for the holidays and am really not looking forward to the weigh in tomorrow. But to be honest, I'm completely carbed out- I just feel awful!! I'm looking forward to getting back into lc eating and all the yummy foods that go with it. I'll post weight goals tomorrow after the weigh in. Excercise will be 5xs a week - 3 days running, and yoga on the other days. Can't wait to get started. We will start 2012 off right!

My goal will be all related to working out. I'm not wanting to lose anymore pounds. But I do want to be as strong as a 53 year old woman can possibly be, so I will be a lean, mean fighting machine.
