Glenda, that's good news on going to the gym. Don't worry about not being able to do much - everyone has to start somewhere. I remember years ago (when I was MUCH younger) joining a gym after being inactive for quite some time and being totally embarrassed because I could only do about 6 minutes on the LifeCycle. That was a wakeup call, and incentive to go frequently, and within a couple months I could do an hour.

Glenda, Mary is right! I have a membership @ Curves & Y but can't get to either of thrm. Right now all my energy goes into painting, papering, pulling carpet etc. Takes me 5 times longer than it does my son but he is 1/3rd my age. Funny the older he gets the smaller the % of age difference. One day he will be close to 1/2 my age. I used to be 20 times his age. Weird!!!

Anyway, I digress.... When you get to the gym JUST START! Doesn't matter where...they will help you. I wil never forget the first time I got on an eliptical. 45 seconds & I was done in. But that was 45 seconds and every day 45 seconds til it became a minute then longer. It has been so long since I have been there I am probably back to 45 seconds!

You get the idea! Have fun! I like the new you I am seeing!

Thank you girls, you all are so sweet!!!

I will be back to my before pic of I keep gaining, so yesterday was 213 and today 209 WTH??????????????? I am eating 1800 calories and less than 50 carbs it makes no sense, might do a week of induction and lay off the crazy exercise and do light cardio! See if that moves the weight back down and stop taking the Chantix I can do it without it now, I cant smoke, end of story so if it is worse so be it, but everyday is easier I cant see staying on that pill! But gaining this much weight makes no sense to me its not like I am sitting here with my hands in chip bags or something, Gosh it is ticking me off!

Glenda- Yep it is like Mary said you do what you can do and then you go and you go and you go, consistency, and you work up and you start losing, and I bet you will find you enjoy it! Your body is amazing it wants to move, and it will cooperate when you start moving it! DO IT!!!!!! I am proud of you, taking that first step is hard, but that is the progress step, committing to go!

Friday, TGIF!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our little Amber is going to be a celeb! How exciting is that? I can't wait to hear more when you find out.

Glenda, like everyone has said, just do what you can at the gym and don't push yourself too hard at first. It only matters that you are going, just don't stop. You will slowly begin to gain some endurance. When I started at the gym, it honestly took me about three hours to burn what I burn in forty five minutes now. That was back in April, so it's taken me awhile. I started out slowly, just doing the treadmill and the exercise bike. Then in June I started working out with a buddy and she taught me how to use the weight machines and the elliptical. It's a learning process. Take you some music or something to watch or read and just have fun with it. I won't lie, you're going to hate having to go, but when you are done you'll feel so much better. I still dread going to the gym, but I know that I have to have it to maintain my weight loss. The diet only gets you so far. Good luck!

Scales are the same today, another day in my experiment gone well. I'm really excited about that.

Morning badgers!

Glenda ~ that is great girl! Going for the first time is always the hardest. It is great you have support. It is like swimming for me this week. My brother and I went together on Monday and now I have a couple of new friends that encourage me. I just tell myslef just show up you dont' have to do anything and of course when I get there i want to push myslef alittle more. Just like all the baders said don't over do it the first day.

iamfaithful ~ Are you remodeling? Sounds "fun"!

AFM ~ I am totally kicking it into high gear this weekend. Started off this am with 42 (25 M) laps and I barely stopped! I was hoping for 20 laps when i got in the pool. totally Smashed it! Volleyball tonight and going to a cardiokick boxing class tomorrow. Come on 220's for Monday!

Amber ~ Wow! your conditioner trick worked awesome for my hair!!! Thanks! My skin also feels pretty good but my face is super dry. Can't wait for that facial in 9 weeks!!

Oh Cori that sounds great, I want to do a kick boxing class so bad, I cannot find one around here, good grief! Man I used to swim but I dont know if I could go for 42 laps, maybe when some more smoke is out of me, LOL You are doing great, if the scale doesn't show you a number you love--- your pants will!!! You are doing great with the exercise!!!! WTG!!!!

About your face-coconut oil, I know it sounds strange, but coconut oil is good stuff, it looks like crisco but once you rub it in your face it absorbs and it will keep your face in nice condition! I use that only as a moisturizer now in the winter, I love all the scented stuff but it has too much alcohol and dries out my skin so bad! Also if you are prone to monthly break outs or weird ****, it calms that too, it really is liquid gold what all that stuff can do! I have jars everywhere, I swear by it!

Seth- glad you are eating and seeing you can maintain, as long as you keep up the exercise you are going to be able to eat more!! You will be fine!

Amber ~ I have some coconut oil that I used for my 1 year old cradel cap. I will have to give that a try. Thanks! My dh got me my favorite body shop shea body butter for my birthday which is amazing on my skin. Yeah can't do those alcoholy smelly lotions either. I will let you know how kickboxing goes... I have to say on Monday I only was able to do 8 laps in a row with out a big break. The human body is just amazing the way it responds to exercise.

Finally Friday BAHBS!!!

Coribird, - oh would I love to have a place to go swimming! There are so many "in place" exercises one can do in the pool also. Good for you for knocking it out of the park today with exercise! Does your hubby get out for any exercise? I think it is mentally beneficial to exercise...

Amber - way awesome on the Atkins promotion, omg! Can't wait to hear what they have planned for you!

Oh just great - someone brought in donuts & muffins. I went over and did a big inhale. Ahhhh. Then I nuked my eggbeater's omelet w/mushrooms/goat cheese/red peppers and enjoyed that with my 1/4 avocado. I done good.

OK everyone...the choice is yours what you eat today and what you do to move today. Try your best to stay on plan and not cave!

OMG I know it is donut day here, I talk to the donuts, I look at them lovingly and then tell them how evil they are, I was feeling pissed this morning like maybe I should just eat one, since I am getting so fat anyway, not a good thought!!! Marco my co-worker talked me down, he is like there it is one donut and before you know it 300 pounds again, that ended that battle, LOL

Hi everyone! Sounds like lots is going on! Congrats to all the badgers!

My weight is now starting to slowly head downwards again. I had a major post-induction stall and gained a couple of pounds back, and it looks like that is over. I am going to stay very focused this weekend on eating healthfully. Nights arethebhardest time for me. That is when I get very strong urges to eat when I am not hungry. I am working on keeping good low carb snacks on hand so that I don't feel deprived.

I am also going to re-introduce some helpful nighttime activities, like crocheting and knitting. Keeps my hands busy when I sit in front of the tv. Next week I am going to transition to going to the gym at night. That should really help! My gym is really nice and it is located across the street from the BART station (Bay Area Rapid Transit commuter rail), so it's easy to go after work.

Speaking of work, I heard from my recruiter yesterday and I should have an offer by next Tuesday or Wednesday! They have changed the job from a temp-to-perm position to a direct hire, so they had to repost the job internally and wait a week before they can fill it. They have assured me that I am the only person being considered, so hopefully by mid week I'll have a start date. Yay!

I feel really positive about everything right now. I am sending that positivity to all of you, too. We can all accomplish whatever we set our minds to!

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Shelly

Talk about wild swings - My weigh-in on Monday was 169. then it went down to 165 but this morning it was back up to 171.8. I haven't done anything but being good and exercising the way I'm supposed to. This body is a weird machine! Oh well, it is what it is. I've done everything I'm supposed to. Glorioski!

Cori, I am so sorry that you are going through this. It was the opposite for me. I worked for 19 years, then I got laid off. We lost almost 2/3 of our income. It took me 13 months to find another job. I looked for work non-stop during that time, and ended up very depressed. My husband would come home from work and start demanding why everything wasn't super clean, etc. I seriously considered leaving him, he was such an asshat. I guess he figured that since I still didn't have work, I must be not really looking. Also, I am not domestic AT ALL and never will be. I don't know why he would ever think that I would suddenly transform into a skilled housewife. We ended up talking all of this out after I found work, and so this layoff has been much better. I don't feel so down, and he's not such a jerk about it.

I hope that your husband finds a great job, and everything smoothes out for you guys. I know how stressful and awful this situation can be for families. (((cori)))

Shelly - that's great news on the job front! Hope it all works out. YAY! Yanno, you stay focused and drop a few more lbs and clothes will fit even better...and you'll walk in on Day 1 with confidence and self-esteem, yeah!!!!

On the domestic front, I am similar. I have a
bumper sticker on my kitchen bulletin board:

"A Clean House is a Sign of a Wasted Life"
next to
"Husband and Dog Missing: Reward for Dog"

Happy Friday Badgers!

Ceecee/Amber- Thanks re/ gel nails. I have a gift certificate from xmas for a manicure- I'll have to give it a try.

Cori- I completely sympathise with your situation. We were in the same boat on and off for 3+ yrs. It killed me that I had to go back to work while DH was home with the kids. It wasn't a great time in our marriage at all. BUT- it did make us both really appreciative of the other. Now, he appreciates how much I do during the day, and I'm so grateful that I can stay home full time. I was afraid he'd resent me for staying home, but he says it's easier & less work to be at work! LOL

Shelly- Sounds like things are looking up on the job front. Congrats

I've been swamped this week. We booked our party - turns out he gave me the wrong date and it's only 3 weeks away. Not impossible, but certainly more difficult. I forget who asked, but I plan/coordinate kids birthday parties. After a few years of doing this for our own kids, my sister and I decided to open a business. This party, for example will be a Jungle theme. We're decorating, providing food, taking photos, and setting up a candy buffet. Lots of handmade touches, personalized labels etc. Lots of fun.

Sandy- umm having had 1.2.3 husbands, I would say you are the smart one!!!!

Oh girls the good old role reversals that is a toughie, but in the long run, it is worth getting it worked out, I hope it all works out!

We went to this fancy Vietnamese place OMG it was so good, I had filet mignon sliced thin over a bed of watercress with onions, OMG it was so good, I ate zero rice!!! Tony had this tofu, shrimp and green bean thing, very good too!!!!! And we had hot and sour soup then we went to see the movie, One for the Money, I have read all the books in the series, and have to say the movies never live up to the books, the guy playing Morelli, holy hotness----abs of steel but he is Irish and the guy is suppose to be Italian! Not great but I stayed awake that is saying something since I always fall asleep

Amber, how many stars would you give OFTM (out of 5)? I'm a big fan of the Stephanie Plum series - I've read all 18 books plus the between the numbers ones - but I wasn't bowled over by the trailers for this movie. I'm trying to decide whether to go see it or just wait for the DVD to come out. Did they at least put brown contact lenses on the Irish guy that played Morelli? I guess if they could make Katherine Heigl a brunette they should be able to make an Irish guy look Italian. And how was Daniel Sunjata as Ranger? I was hoping for Duane Johnson- Sunjata looks too small.

Nancy - love your kitchen signs! Kicked out TOM & throwing out Arthur as well!He is being a little more stubborn about going. Since I found out he hates TUMERIC & Aloe Vera Juice that is all he gets from me! I believe he got the message but like most (sorry Seth) he left signs of permanent damage. I can handle it though cause I am BADGER TOUGH! Not down onmen - just SINGLE & lovin' it!

I am permanently single by choice! I am the safest person for any male to be around! Not even slightly interested & can't even tell you what a guy looks like if I talked to himfor an hour.

I was always the caretaker now I just take care of me & life is simple & quiet. Only room for One Man in my life now! He has never hurt me or let me down; Takes care of my every need, Heals my wounds, Directs my path, & Is my Companion on long nights! Then I have my son & two gransons, not forgetting the grandog! That is enough!

Mary- I read all the books too, I would say maybe 2.5 stars, the guy playing Ranger--nope, I wanted the Rock too!!! Debbie Reynolds was grandma she was funny, I think Morelli still had light eyes, but he is ripped! The gal playing Lula she was good, that girl from the View, and the gal playing Connie was good, and Vinny, like it was entertaining just cause we have read all the books, but it wasn't nearly as good as I was hoping I guess wait for the dvd!
