if anyone has ridden a nyc bus or subway

during rush hour, then u would see what i am up against. However, the strange thing is that at the moment (even though it is Monday)I am fairly serene. I am enjoying a very hard to get cd (import) of some Strauss waltzes arranged for a small ensemble by the composers Schoenberg, Berg, and Webern. It was worth the expense.($17.86) the other cd which has MORE, i got for $3.99. This one is from a small label (Berlin classics)not part of the recording conglomerates and has only 40 minutes of music, but each musical phrase is pure joy. Tonight, i will have some bacon cheese burgers-NO BUN of course. I am only a tad hungry, but not enough to leave my music to go to the cafeteria. I got plenty of liquids. The jury is still out re: diet soda and appetite. I still have some diet coke left. I think I will have to give it a week or two to verify if it makes a difference or not. If it does not, I shall not deny myself the joy of diet sodas. I HAVE been drinking quite a lot of seltzer (plain and flavored)as well as plain water. I will have to carry a jar with me soon. FF

Having been born and raised in the south, catfish is second nature to me. Always good. But a lot of us down here like crappie better. And, no it does not taste like crap, lol. It's a really white meat fish, not overly fishy in taste. I prefer it over catfish because sometimes they can be "muddy" tasting since they are bottom feeders. But you can't order crappie in the restaurants, have to go out and catch them yourself.

artemis, Hello.

Do you filet them? We do and oh me you are right! it is the best of the best. Catching a bass is fun. Eating crappie, oh my goodness! The bestest tasting fishie on the planet...If the bream are large enough to keep that bugger gets filet too.

I had to stop and post a comment on the status of them fish

Marilee Thank you so much for your kind words of encouragement. I am for sure needing a safe place and yall are a very supportive bunch of kind folks. I need all the help I can get. Today I am weak!

I have noticed this goes on and on in here. LCF are really friends! Not all forums are created equal. But no one is without flaws. You can see mine as soon as you met me. I fail at staying at a reasonable weight! Been doing it since I was 11 or 12 years old. Yo-Yo is my middle name.

The 100 I lost last year is the same 100 I have lost many times. I have not gotten on scales since the first week in Jan. I did not cheat during the holidays. Matter of fact I cooked for my large men and not too small women. I did most of the desserts. And I didn't even accidently get it on my finger and have to lick it off! I was a good girl through all of it.

Brake a hard left and my DH is wanting banana pudding sometimes 2 times a week!!!!!
I fell off the wagon and accidently had a huge taste of the last 2 I have made him! BOY did I have a sweet attack!!

The first tablespoon was an accident waiting to happen. The second and last was no accident. I had this huge brain storm about how I could get through to him I had NO will POWER at all to fight this deadly sweet tooth. My gosh the feel of rich velvet in my mouth was intoxicating. Pure bliss! I got me a big bite. My DH almost came unglued. I told him I could not make anymore. I had hoped me cheating that way would make him stop wanting me to make them. He loves the new me. My DH is NOT over weight. He ant never really been what I would call fat. He had a double chin once about 35 or so years ago! :-(
I have been reading about JUDDD. I don't think I am strong enough for JUDDD. I want color but color doesn't want me......

leptin injections-

-work well on mice, not on HEWMONS or highly evolved races such as FERENGHI. If it worked, don't u think we would have ACQUIRED it for OUR needs? Perhaps they are going at it the wrong way. Making a pleasant tasting chewing gum (prescription only)with LEPTIN as an ingredient might work. Perhaps what is necessary is to get it going throughout the digestive cycle. As far as i know that has not yet been tried. FF

Leptin chewing gum

okdokie....thanks for saying me from all that readin
I have Freedent maybe it works just as good.

Abigale I just finished my plate of fried eggs and hog jowl. It was finger dripping good
Been a while since I had jowl.

I bought 2 huge packs of bacon Saturday. I had everything laid out fixin to turn on the fire and something jumped out at me. I froze and all of a sudden it turned into a 4 pound bag of sugar molecules.

I read labels, I thought. Right in front of me that horrible word jumped at me!
I was wearing my glasses and that horrible word hid from me in the store.
I was lucky I got two packs of smoked hog jowl. Dr. Atkins would be proud of all the fat dripping from my fingers.

Remember in the 72' book when he said to leave some wiggle in your bacon. Well my bacon was still squealing, all the way to my mouth.

Welcome Mary Louis, I am in the same boat along with you.

I have been MIA and I think I have caught up on the posts. Too many to personally address. I went back to OA a couple of weeks ago. I now remember what I struggled with when I went before. Maybe I am misinterpreting some of their principles, but they want abstinence from compulsive overeating which is similar to not drinking (sobriety) for the alcoholic. Now, each person needs to determine what their abstinence entails. There is a brochure that has some eating plans as suggestions, and eating or diets is NOT the focus. However, my interpretation of abstinence = food plan. But, because I focused my abstinence on food and eating, if I wasn't perfect, I wasn't abstinent which meant I was a failure which in turn set me on a spiral downward.

Over the years that I have been a member here, my food plan has evolved somewhat. At times, not for the better either. But, I look at it as a form of an experiment. So, when I went back to OA and perused the literature, I didn't want to be tied to any particular plan of eating (they don't promote this anyways). Therefore, my abstinence is 85% of the time I will refrain from any thing that causes me to continuously worry about weight, body image and dieting. This means avoiding eating behaviors that lead to overeating (grazing/sugars/wheat flour or whites), exercising like a fanatic (this has gotten easier LOL, hence the reason I returned Tony Horton's P90X twice) and buying every book that comes along about an eating plan (Paleo, Veganism, Atkins, etc.). The latter has simply driven me crazy because of the conflicting research and view points.

So, now I feel as though I am rambling. I have defined my abstinence yet when I walked in the door tonight I polished off the rest of a bag of trail mix Hmmmmf.

Well, I did say 85% of the time. No, seriously, this is where the spiritual part comes in where I need to rely on other tools to maintain my sanity and that would be getting on here and typing out what I want to eat (it would get my mind off of eating) or I can call someone, keep on walking through the kitchen, or brew some tea and relax.

Anyways, that is my two cents worth for the day.

Hey Marylouise! Glad you have joined us! Sounds like you had a great day yesterday. I did too thanks to you. I ate ham, pot roast and a bite of liverwurst with cream cheese for a snack. Very minimal carbs. I have also decided not to weigh myself until I start to feel like I have lost some weight. This is major for me because I am addicted to weighing myself. But I know if I eat mainly 0 carb I won't gain except water weight ( like from the ham yesterday) and eventually I will start to lose.

Marylouise, as far as I know Dr. Kraus has not written a book yet. His prescription to reset leptin is right there when you click his link. In a nutshell he says to eat at least 50 grams of high fat protein in the first 30 minutes you get up. This will keep you going for most of the day. He often grabs a big bag of cooked bacon if he is in a hurry. The other part of the prescription is to eat less than 25 grams of carbs a day. His blog is very interesting and his goal is to get everyone healthy.

Artemis, it sounds like you are feeling better now. Love the picture of the purple girlie pole. lol

Vicki, I have every book under the sun too. There is so much conflicting information out there. I've decided to go back to basics and do what I did to lose in the first place. Sticking to it will be the real challenge.

FF, how were those bacon cheeseburgers. I may have some today myself!

Hey Marilee, I think you hit the nail on the head with your description of our dear group!

Have a great day all!

Good Morning Everyone

Vicki~ It is great to met you. It's never good to be in a boat alone. I will help you paddle. I can scull very good. I will work hard to keep it straight

Artemis~ I don't like to fish alone, great having you in the boat too. I do love to fish. My 2 grown son's will have company this spring. We have been gone for 4 years and came back home in time for the holidays. Had to help a family member. It's good to be back home and I can't wait to wet my hook!

Abigale~ Thank you for helping me get {back in the boat}
I was drowning, and if you had not seen me, well, thank you so much

Kruse~ Well no book, one less thing to read. LOL
I don't have to wonder if I get 50 grams of fat if Co and cream count. I consume at least twice that in my coffee every morning. even though his name was not brought up everyone, almost, was saying to get fat in within 30 minutes of waking up.

I love coconut oil and heavy cream. I was up to 5 sometimes 6 tablespoons of Co a day! It was last summer in the pool. When I ran out of power I drank coffee and Co. I swim anywhere from 3 to 8 hours everyday. Not too many folks think I am saying the truth, but I am. I love to swim.

FF~ I too want that cow. I eat a lot of red meat. I lose weight faster if most of my meat moo's

Off to eat pork jowl and fried eggs. I'm coming pigs, I hear you calling me....

artemis~ I'm nosy. You count cals?
You have lost a lot of weight. I too, felt like I was holding water. My doctor said maybe I should re~think how much water I was drinking. I know I have heard we should drink half of our weight in water. But, he said we can only get rid of a certain amount of fluid in a day. My ankles were swelling along with my hands.
It's just a thought and it work for me.

The main thing with Kruse is he wants you to eat 50 grams of protein (that is fatty) not fat grams and that is not easy to do within 30 minutes of wake up. That would be about an 8 oz steak or 8 cups of heavy cream! You can see why you could probably go all day without eating after that heavy a meal.

Dang that's nuttie!!
All it takes for me not to be hungry is staying VLC. I don't think I have been hungry since starting, except when I tried to eat veggies. I am not saying a false truth. I eat mostly because food taste good. On another thread I seen a man say the same thing.
Yes, I was wanting color on my plate. Yes, I know I was playing with fire, wanting them veggies. But gee, it is so hard to keep the boat straight, but it is do-able.

I just finished a plate of fried pork jowl and fried eggs. I feel a little sick to my stomach. I'm thinking I have had too much fat so far today

I am going to eat a aspirin................

OMG!!!

MaryLouise, i have not yet officially welcomed you to the BLITZ. Not that u need validation from me, but I, btw, created the BLITZ back on 4/1/10. So, WELCOME. Here we focus on how we may better adopt better eating behaviors, change our weaknesses into strengths etc etc. MY main difficulty is BINGE EATING DISORDER. Knowing that i have this problem, and that i acknowledge it in front of others, real and cyber, gives me strength. Well, my latest tweak is that i am back on ATKINS INDUCTION. I feel so much better after 24 hours, both physically and emotionally. What i do is keep my portions as low as possible during the work day, usually bypassing breakfast or lunch...sometimes both. I have tried cutting out eating after a certain time in the evening. that works for a while. I also adhere to the WW points system, so that I do not consume too much in the evenings. The evenings ARE where the food IS necessaryfor me.I have struggled to put the kibosh on evening/night evening for decades...TO NO AVAIL. So, for example, i will consume 40 of the 53 daily WW points in the period from 4:30pm till about 1 hr from beddiebye, and NOT exceeded 20 net carbs each day. That is what i am doing now. FF

I was having a melt down and Abigale saw me and we talked and here me is!

I was looking for my cake and I wanted to eat it too and lose weight. I thought JUDDD would work for me. I knew it wouldn't. But I sure wanted it to! I was on insulin before starting VLC last March. I am a fat self induced diabetic. Also I too, binge. Me and portion control just have never met! I'm a chocoholic also. Use to be alcoholic. I drank heavy for too many years. I came from a alcoholic dad. I do drink from time to time now but, not the Party Time size of Old Charter. Sometimes I go months without a drink and then I may have several beers or even a drink of Charter from time to time. It's all good.

I did W.W. in the 70s. Loss tons then. But them points made me gain so I went VLC this time. I sure hope to reach a reasonable weight and learn this time from my over eating. I can not get 300 plus again. It will get me next time. So there can not be a next time.

I like your thread. It's neat that one can eat the WOE that works for them without someone trying to tell them they are doing it wrong.
We are all different. And being here among friends is the BEST THERE IS

ahhh, i feel like my old neurotic self again!!!

i just vacuumed a nice INDUCTION lunch: baked chicken and a small salad, this time w/o the legumes, corn niblets, and pasta salad. It feels great. I am waiting for my diet FAYGO to defrost. There was still a bit of diet coke around, but it went FLAT(in this case, a bad thing), so out it went. I am drinking water until, the FAYGO is ready for prime time. Also, i will be drinking water with my cow du jour tonight. btw, please check out my thread in the main board entitled I AM GUILTY. FF

Mary, yes I find that counting calories, and cycling them is helping me keep my weight off. And agreed, water consumption is a tricky one. If you consume a lot of salt with it, or if your kidneys are not functioning optimally, it can do more harm than good. But I am super sensitive to salt, so if I eat even the smallest amounts I blow up like a balloon! And some people seem to not need as much as others...just another one of those variables making everyone's life more complicated!

FF, I saw your post on water. I didn't know that about seltzer water.

hey guys,
lying on sarah's couch in nashville...so happy to be here!...

WELCOME marylouise!...great to have you among us here...where are you from, girl?

artemis, i was driving around the vandy area tonight and there were girls jogging all over the place and i was thinking one of them might have been you! :-) hope you are feeling well tonight...

abi, i have stopped weighing daily too - i am still committed to weighing at least a couple of times a week (shooting for tuesday and friday) to maintain accountability, but those days are not set in stone, and i try to choose the days when i think i might achieve a loss...it creates an incentive to make sure i am gonna have a couple of "good" days...

ff, so are they making you stand?...are they reimbursing you for the car service?...i feel badly that you are losing some support...

hi marilee and vicki!...how are auntie and neicey today?...

clanger, you are a hoot...i had a crush on olivia newton john as a teenager - heck, i still have a crush on her! :-)

i have been VERY well behaved since i left home sunday...yesterday was:
b: eggs, sausage and veggies scrambled together
l: skipped
d: beef brisket and 3 ribs at a texas bbq joint - awesome!...no bbq sauce

today:
b: skipped
l: an asian veggie wrap - no cheese or sauce or flavor!
d: baked chicken and broccoli

almost no snacking for 2 days, which is a lifetime for me...i am determined at weigh-in on saturday to be a bit below the 219.6 i was last friday...

Tony, it is amazing you do so well when you travel. I think FF says he loses when he goes on vacation. Are you suffering from jet lag yet?

Marylouise, so glad you are here with us. We will keep each other on the straight and narrow. You aren't from Alabama are you? I love this group too and the fact we can try any kind of plan we want and no one judges.

Artemis, too much salt affects me the same way. I can tell by my rings if I have had too much the day before. Are you feeling well enough to start training for a half marathon yet? Looking for some neat nature pictures from you!

FF, sorry your diet coke had gone FLAT. I know that good feeling you are having by going back to Atkins induction. I am feeling the same way going back to almost 0 carb.

Vicki, I think that the reason I didn't stick with OA way back when was that I felt for me my reasons for overeating were more to do with being addicted to carbs. I loved the group but didn't like the part about baring my soul to anyone following the steps.

Hey Marilee, Shadows and Clanger!

I had a good day yesterday. Ate pot roast and 2 hard boiled eggs. Should have drank more water. No weighing feels so free right now as long as I don't deviate from my plan.

Have a great Wednesday Blitzers!

not all seltzer has salt.

that is WHY one must read labels even on products one is sure of. There is no certainty left in this world. On the subject of my transportation, I am calling my councilman before the week is out. I have no stomach for these things. I had a big ATKINS INDUCTION dinner last night. by the time the food came, i was in no mood to doctor it up. so i totalled the pork chops as was. I also had a container of chicken broth, before the PCs(they were nameless, they deserved no name...too small). then I had my 2 bacon cheeseburgers, with a thin slice of tomato for each, and the outer circumference of a thin slice of onion. & 1 T low carb ketchup. I have enough onion left over to last a week. they forgot the pickles, even though I specifically requested them not to forget them. Fortunately, by the time I finished, i was sleepy. I watched BIG BANG THEORY till 9:30pm. then the next thing I knew, it was 5:53 AM. I went to THE COFFEE TRUCK this a.m....BUT, I just got a coffee. No more diet coke left. Just water, seltzer, dIet FAYGO(1 a day only), coffee, green tea. I am, for the time being, eschewing almost all FRANKENFOODS as well, I must undo the damage I caused myself by the 1st Thursday in May. I would like to get back to TWODORLAND by then. FF

Tony, I was working late last night so no running for me. And, Abi I don't think I'll be training for that half marathon any time soon. I am discovering that my heart just won't cooperate sometimes when I'm running. With the dysautonomia, it beats so slow that even when exercising intensely, I don't get enough oxygen. Mostly, when running. So I guess I'll have to be satisfied with getting 2-3 miles in each time (at a very slow pace) until I can go to the specialist.

So a friend at work has started "Insanity". Basically, 60 days worth of workout torture but gives amazing results. It inspired me to go back to Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred. I thought I had it at home but then I remembered that a friend had let me borrow it and I had to give it back before she moved. So, I found it online for $7.00! I also found another one called Extreme Shred which I think is ideally supposed to be done after the 30 Day Shred. It was only $8.50. So I bought both. Once they come in, it's on! Plus, doing this type of thing with someone else who is also doing it helps a lot to stay motivated.

hi abi, no jet lag as there is only a 1 hour time difference between nh and houston/nashville, believe it or not...hope you are holding the fort down back home in my absence! :-)

ff, i'm bettin on you getting to 2dorland by your may weigh-in...

i think the reasons i lose weight away from home are 1) i am busy running around, 2) don't have access to the amount/variety of food i have at home, and 3) generally eat twice a day, with very few snacks...

the problem is trying to maintain that when i get home...i will be surprised if i don't get below 219.6 by saturday...

have a great day everyone!

VICTORY!!!

I was able to remove the bread from a Reuben sandwich, w/o losing the cheese. Yeah, i had to toss the rye bread...seeded...my fave. with it i had a sour pickle. I could definitely eat something else, but i have plenty of liquids to keep me in line. I am taking home a salad which has 1 scoop each of tuna, egg, and courageous salad. to that i will add a few florets of broccoli, and a few string beans, and 2 T of low carb dressing, and 1/2 oz of slivered almonds for crunch. I would also like to take a piece of that 2-dorland action IF I had latinum to spare. the trick is to stay INSPIRED consistently. I am waiting for my FAYGO choc soda to defrost. With any luck by my 3:15pm break. FF

Hi all, it has been a busy week at work. I have been too tired to post. The last two nights I woke up in the middle of the night stressing over some work related stuff and read for an hour. That really doesn't help me much. I hope for a night of uninterrupted sleep tonight.

Even after announcing what I thought my abstinence would be, I still haven't refrained from anything yet. Well, I guess I haven't bought any magazines or diet books. LOL

I am breaking in a new computer too. The old one was running really, really slow. heck, it only had 2GB of RAM. No wonder.

Well, off to sleep.

Pleasant Dreams, Vickie.

I have seen the INSANITY infomercial. A tad too stressful for a troll in my condition. I am sure the floor joists can't handle the stress either. However, I can do better than an INSANITY t-shirt. I have access to an INSANITY jacket. I would have to have assistance putting it on, as it connects from the back. But there are plenty of tall beefy dudes, dressed in white willing to accommodate me (hahaha). I had a great dinner, and stayed within my WW daily points. The salad was not enough. It got jarred in transit. It was delicious, though. I did not need the dressing or the nuts. Afterwards, I had a small order of ATKINS-ized shrimp and chinese vegetables and 1 small order of ribs, w/o bbq sauce. I gives me great satisfaction to stay under the 20 gram limit, which does not seem so limiting. FF

Had another good day yesterday with min. of carbs. Ate more pot roast, a hamburger with a couple of oz of cheese, and some pork rinds. Don't feel any slimmer yet so no weighing.

Vicki, those sleepless nights are a bummer. Just when we really need to feel well rested to handle those stressful times during the day we have a night like that. Hey, good going on abstaining from buying another diet book! lol Wheat Belly is the last one I bought and will probably be the last I hope.

FF, you had me going for a minute on your insanity infomercial. So funny. It sounds like getting back to the Atkins induction is agreeing with you!

Tony, the restaurant meals sounded so delicious. Sure am hoping you are under 219 by Saturday!

Artemis, you know your body well and you listen to it which is very good. Hope the Jillian Michaels Shred works well for you!

How's it going today Marylouise?

Have a terrific Thursday all!

which is stronger? the satisfaction i get from giving in to temptation?

or the satisfaction I get from maintaining discipline even though, despite all my distractions, i more often than not go to bed hungry. It is the latter of course. so many unpleasant symptoms have quickly dissappeared or are less severe after just a few days. the greatest feeling is putting on a pair of pants and not feeling like"2 lbs of bologna in a 1 lb bag" (Alice Kramden). Tonight is McD night: 1 grilled chicken Caesar salad (my low carb dressing, and slivered almonds), plus 1 or 2 BUNLESS ANGUS BURGERS. I will put my own low carb ketchup, and mayo from my house. McD mayo is LITE, so it includes modified food starch, at least around my way it is.I can only hope, now that i am no longer drinking gallons of diet soda, that my appetite will not be so amplified. I give it to the end of February. If i am just as hungry on March 1, all bets are off. FF
