"October gave a party;
The leaves by hundreds came-
The Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples,
And leaves of every name.
The Sunshine spread a carpet,
And everything was grand,
Miss Weather led the dancing,
Professor Wind the band."

wow.. OCTOBER?? how can that be??? it seems this year is just flying by so fast.. and I have a hard time getting into the mind set that it is already october.. ???

Maybe because it is still so hot here.. still mid 80's! and not very much fall like weather..

so... lets all put our efforts and energy into these last few month.. and lets end the year lighter then we started.

this is always the most challenging season for me.. because it is BAKING and cooking time.. and well.. specially being back on LOW carb.. it will be something for me to tackle and to deal with.

but with the support of this group.. we an do it.. and overcome...

for breakfast I am having coffee.. with 1/2&1/2. and 1 egg with left over taco meat..
and 1/2 apple.. Protein and Fruit.. LOL
Actually my protein is more like 2-3 servings.. LOL

done with shopping and done with lunch..
I had a big mix salad again.. seems to be the easiest way to get my 2c of lettuce, veggies and protein in..
for desert I had SF jello.. and no fruit.. I am feeling FULL! so.. I am not going to worry about the fruit serving.. I had more then one serving of protein for lunch..
I had one HB egg in the salad.. and 2oz of turkey... ...
so.. I am done.. and satisfied...

and that is a good thing too... won't be tempted to overeat in an hour.. when DH and the troups are back down of the mountain.. and want to have lunch.. LOL I will just have a few bites of protein.. and be done.

got the company picknick tonight still too.. LOL.. but I am not worried about the food I think I will not be to hungry... and have it under control.

I did good today..
went for our late late lunch with DH and friends.. and I only had a little bit of protein..
I gave some of my food from my plate to the Grandbaby.. some of the other stuff to DH and I ended up just as I planned with a few bites of this and that..
after that we went to the Company party.. at Western Playland.. its like a small version of 6Flags..
Rode almost ALL the rides.. our 3yr old grandson did, too.. we had a blast.
The food at the company picknick was the usual.. hot dogs and hamburgers, with the usual sides. .like chips.. etc.. and cake.. we had WATER!! thats it..
did not need any burgers or stuff after the late lunch.. and so.. we had a good time.. without nasty foods!

and got lots of walking in .. or like running.. from ride to to ride with the Grandbaby..
it sure was so much fun having him along.. it was his first time at an amusement park!

Nice poem to start the month!

Bonehenge - that was a neat trick having a late lunch to offset the theme park munchies. Sounds like it was so much fun, especially seeing it through the eyes of a 3-year-old's first time.

Chilly weekend in DC but we have not broken down and turned the heat on yet--love that "nip" for sleeping curled up next to DH.

Was doing lots of eating and drinking this weekend, especially that ultra rich French dinner Saturday, and I am paying for it: scale is up to 208--aacckkk! That's over 4 lbs in five days. Hopefully, some of it is bloat, but I am gonna have to tuck my tail under when I sheepishly do my weekly WW weigh-in Wednesday.

Just finished my 2 miles on the treadmill and had a protein shake to start this fresh new week. Made a bunch of HB eggs yesterday and am trying for a couple of induction-level days to see if I can get back into the groove quickly.

Gave a bunch of stuff to DD and her family... mostly high carb snacks... like DH chips.. LOL

Welcome!

I just started too and have found great support from this group of pros. My 4th week and meeting is Wednesday and will probably be reporting a "backslide," but am chalking it up to working on some eating issues. My focus is to LC it as much as possible, but allow some small amounts of fruit. LOVE being able to nibble on vegs "for free" when I get that urge to graze.

Ughhh....one step forward two steps back. More like 5. I was finally starting to see some movement on the scale. Last night, we went out and the plan went out the window. I went to the Jane Lynch thing - VERY cool. I got to meet her twice and got a book signed for me and one for my mom. She looks exactly the same in person as she does on TV. Very pretty....anyway, there were only about 20 people at the reception. They were walking around with really good appetizers. I made the mistake of thinking my friend was going to be on time, which she wasn't, so we didn't have time to go out and get anything to eat. So, I was starving and ate up the appetizers. Then after the show, we met these really cool guys and went out for a drink with them. We ended up getting appetizers for the table... I would have chosen the steamed garden rolls, but everyone else wanted the fried....and, again, I was hungry and just ate what I wanted.

And so, how come it takes 2 weeks to drop 3 pounds and only a day to gain 5? I'm at my highest weight in a year.

Lou

Yah, wassup with that! It's so not right.

Bonehenge - congrats on the new grandbaby on the way! Just think of it as even more exercise when you get to babysit both of them at the same time!

Had an afternoon boredom binge after a small pity party. Just finished a month off work and haven't done much on the to-do list, so feeling like a letdown. Thinking about skipping my Wed. WW meeting and weigh-in for shame.

TODAY (confessional)
B - Atkins shake, 2 HB eggs
S1 - HB egg
S2 - 2-egg salad w mayo, 2 slices GG Crispbread
L - 2 chicken drummettes, 3 pcs LC Dixie Diner banana nut cake w FF cream cheese frosting, mozarella stick, 2.5 scrambled eggs w bacon pcs and salsa
S - Fritos, Diet Coke
D - (planned--DH is grilling) burger patty w mustard and slice of cheese, red pepper pcs, maybe some "french fried" green beans

going2, not much chance of babysitting two of the grandkids at the same time.. LOL
I do not even baby sit the first one much.. we go out.. and do things with him.. and have a good time.. but.. then he goes home.. LOL with his family.. LOL
I raised my two kids..thank you.. LOL.. now I am just having a good time spoiling the grandbaby.
and the one on the way.. well.. don't think I be babysitting much there either..
her family lives pretty close to them.. her twin sister has a 2 year old.. and so.. I think her family will be doing more of the babysitting..
we just will go have fun.. and enjoy together time.. LOL

Iam doing eh.. ok.. with the protein day.. had a atkins protein bar.. not to long ago.. it was very filling.. but.. I am not sure how it really fits in the protein day?
since it does have a lot of carbs.. only 2 net carbs.. but.. 22g total? so.. I don't know..

I am going to wait now for DH to come home... and then decide on dinner...
turkey.. or .. chicken.. LOL big choice. ahhahahahah

I loved the WW e-tools for the same reason..

I copied this from my L4L email message I got this morning..

I think it will work... for any plan

What food do you crave the most? When do you crave it? Is it time for you to eat, or are you responding to being sad or depressed? These are important questions for you to consider when those gosh darn cravings sneak up.
Cravings are such a significant obstacle for so many people. The good news is... you can learn to change the way you respond to the forces and factors that trigger cravings.
Factors include the people, places, emotions, and events that cause us to experience cravings. We have developed a conditioned response over time to use food as an emotional support, and as a "fix it" tool. The problem is that eating something does not change the emotion, nor does it change the situation.
What does need to change is the way you respond to these same situations when trying to change that conditioned response. It is important to consider some of your own personal conditioned responses. I want you to make a list of some of these. Once you have created this list, review each one and create a changed behavior for that situation. The idea of thinking about this ahead of time is critical. This way, when you are faced with a conditioned response situation, you will already have identified what you are going to do as your new behavior.
I'll share one of mine with you to get the ball rolling:
When I go shopping at the mall, I can smell the cookies being baked at the local cookie shop. My conditioned response is to walk over, thinking that I am just going to take in the great smell...but then I buy a cookie. Because I know this is a difficult situation for me, I now plan before I go shopping at the mall. I make sure that I have eaten my meal before I go. I bring a protein snack with me so that if I am tempted, I have my protein snack instead.
If I didn't plan ahead for facing the aroma of the cookie shop, I would likely be munching on a cookie fairly quickly. Thinking these situations through in advance can really help you learn to create a new response for an old behavior.
Today's Affirmation:
I am only hungry when my body needs nourishment.

Well, half my weekend gain is gone, so that's good. My head's still in the game and I hope that by the end of the week, it'll all be gone. I don't dare wish to lose it as fast as I gained it.

Monika, that's great news Grandma! You're back to LFL?

I grilled some hamburger and chicken last night. I dusted the chicken with parmesian cheese and Italian spices first. I think it'll be good. I'm sticking to low sugar fruits again and trying to stay away from carbs for the most part, although I have a bag of giant pretzels that I've dipped into each day. I'm limiting that though.

getting DH ready to go to work... and I am having my first cup of coffee..

We are finishing our first week of L4L and I lost 3.5lbs! Happy with the results and just have to keep on going.
No loss on the scale this morning..
but its ok.. I knew that the rapid loss would come to an end.. and I would slow down again.. If I can just continue with 1-2lb loss .. I am happy.

having coffee, quick oats and berries for my breakfast
snack... something protein.. LOL

lunch.. the usual menu.. 2c lettuce, tom, cucs, onion, chicken
afternoon protein shake for my snack

and dinner.. ? no clue.. LOL
I have maybe some fish?
with veggies.. .in foil?

sf Jello for snack.

Hope you all are having a great day.... waiting to hear how everyone is doing so far this week!
