Artemis, congrats on the wt loss. I can't wait to have you try the new recipe and if it gets rave reviews, please post recipe.

I tried a new recipe, Butternut Squash Pie. I won't be making it again, wasn't quite like pumpkin.

beautiful day in the big APPLE.

Just returned from THE BAKERY.I bought a loaf of lc bread (3 gr per 2 very small slices), and a lc muffin(5 gr)& 8 9r WW points. Those are for the office. I shall divide the muffin into 2 portions. I consumed there a slice of lc cheesecake that was twice the size of the 4gr portion. I was not going home directly, so I ate the whole thing washed down by a small green tea.( counted 8 gr, and 6 WW points. Nothing else till dinner. I shall keep myself occupied and distracted, so I do not waiver. The steak will be close to 40 WW points. I did, after that, a 1 hr walk. In a little bit, I shall be going out again for a 2 hr walk, broken up to 1 hr one way, then after a small coffee/decaf, and window shopping, i will make my 1 hr return. So that will be 3 hrs for the day. Easier on these old, diseased feet. I just put a dry rub on tonight's steak. When I get home, I will be cutting all my stir fryables into uniform size. So, it will be easier to just toss some into the saute pan throughout the week. I have 4 different color bell peppers, onion, mushrooms, celery, & plum tomato. I will NOT put the tomato in the same container as the other stuff, of course. I will eventually be switching gyms to something much closer to me, and offering a greater variety of choices. It WAS getting boring over there. Meanwhile, in addition to the walking, I have the exercise video. Make the most of today, BLITZERS. FF

I got my 25 min run in this morning. Now I am baking that lc pumpkin cake. I will let you know how it turns out. If the cake tastes anything like the batter, watch out Martha Stewart!

ff, nice job walking - and on the LC bakery goods - i gotta get to brooklyn!

artemis, let us know how the cake turns out and congrats on the 25-minute run... :-)

about to leave work and stop at the market...i will be shopping defensively and not letting anything "bad" into the cart!...

it's 3:30 and i still have only had 1 oz. of a cheeseburger and 6 cashews so far today...that will give me some calories to spend tonight...on what, who knows! :-)

shame on me!!!

well, not really. I did NOT go for the afternoon walk. I was just too comfy & cozy. At about 2:30pm, I ordered a large chef salad. Most of the salad part was lettuce, cuke, and 2 thin slices tomato. I added a little onion (about 1/2 of a thin slice), and 2 stalks of celery (from the hearts of celery pack), 3/4 oz sliced almonds, and 2 T Caesar dressing. Tossed it and ate it. 8 gr (there were 7 mini olives in it, the smallest I have ever seen, with pitsyet). I just finished cutting 4 bell peppers (green, yellow, orange, and red)into stir-fryable slices. I threw them into a plastic bag and tossed them. The explosion of color is like what I imagine an LSD trip would be like. The mushrooms are already pre-sliced. The onion & tomato, I will only do at the last minute. I am just as excited about the veggies as I am about the steak. I am also amiss at getting in plain water on the weekends. What I AM hoping is that I will be able to content myself with only 1/2 the steak. No promises though. But I REALLY want to make progress with portion control. It is just that I am a damn good steak cook. Artemis...the exercise...u truly are a goddess. Tony...1 oz? I cannot sit down to less than 1 4 oz burger with cheese, (with or w/o bacon)with an egg on top. Holy Moly!!! FF

Brunch went very well but I am up a pound just as I figured with eating the salty ham. Sent the leftovers home with the others so no ham for awhile. We also had steak cooked on the grill, rare, sliced very thin, green salad with sliced strawberries and goats cheese mixed in, and crackers and muffins made from almond and flax meal. I mainly tasted the crackers and muffins just for a taste test. I might try these recipes in the future. I had made some pumpkin mini muffins with walnuts and truvia sweetener in them. They tasted pretty good but after the fact I realized that I didn't like the after taste of the truvia. I will go with the unsweetened recipe next time.

FF, one of the last things I asked my Mom after I tuck her in at night is "are you comfy cozy?" Did you manage to eat just half the steak? Your cut up peppers in all the different colors sound beautiful!

Artemis, how did the cake come out and what kind of sweetener did you use?

Tony, what did you end up cooking up for dinner? Eating just a little a day and having a decent amount at dinner seems to be working pretty well for you. I remember once reading that Dolly Parton lost all her weight by eating whatever she wanted but would only eat two bites of it. Can't imagine doing that day after day.

Hey Vicki and Marilee!

Hope everyone has a great Monday! Talk to you later!

YES AND NO!!!

I DID eat only 1/2 the steak, but i came back several hours later for the other 1/2. Perhaps, next time I will get a smaller steak. Tonight I will remove 1 porkchop from the 5 pack. there are thick. So, 1 sliced thinly, and added to the stir fry-ables, should do the trick. IN THEORY... FF

ff, i had eaten close to 8 oz of cheeseburgers the night before - i am hungrier at night...during the day, i am not very hungry, so i force myself to eat just a little and good stuff so my dinner can be a bit more forgiving...i've tried eating more during the day, but when i do, i don't want any less at night, so that is my struggle and why i eat such small daytime portions...

abi, isn't it amazing how a little salt leads to such quick water retention?...i don't like artificial sweeteners either...i ended up throwing some chicken pieces on the grill with a dry rub...very good...i bought a pot roast at the store which i plan to slow cook tonight or tomorrow if i can find my crock pot, which seems to be missing...

marilee, how are you doing?

i experimented buying 1/2 lb low sodium muenster cheese.

twice as expensive as the regular. it was like being invited to Trelayne's table for dinner. It had no flavor whatsoever. I will continue to buy regular cheese, but i will monitor my consumption. FF

ff, isn't it weird that you have to pay more for fewer ingredients???...guess it is because the healthier (flavor-less) batches are smaller, but still...

scale said 216.4 this morning, so i need to lose a lb. by tomorrow a.m. or face a restriction penalty as i was 215.6 on friday...trying to behave and drink LOTS of water today...AND AVOID SALT!

"operation 1derland" is passing the test, as it is altering my behavior and increasing my motivation today!

today so far:
b: green banana and acv and 24 oz. water
l: hard bosc pear
d: ???

i am trying yet a new strategy.

i will not touch my protein until i am at least 1/2 finished with the salad and/or veggie. And also I shall try to slow my eating. I still eat like i am competing for the Indy 500. When u are alone, even with distractions, like tv or computer, it is still quite easy to shovel it down. Now i know what wives are for . FF

ha ha, ff...i still have to work very diligently to take my time eating - recently, i have been chewing my food more slowly and thoroughly and when i remember to do that, it does make a big difference in how much i enjoy the food, how full i feel and consequently how much i consume...

i just decided that i want to do a mega walk after work.

no rain predicted for mon or tue. that is about 2 hrs each. Monday, i will check out BALLYs gym again to see what the deal is. I wonder if joining Ballys would net me some comps at Ballys casino. as long as i am going to Vegas, why not? Npw all i have to do is wait for the bus and ride that torture chamber to the next to last stop. It is not safe to walk alone in the area in which i work. FF

Hi all, just checking in. I just got done walking for about 50 minutes outside, very nice late afternoon. (ff joined me LOL) We had a busy weekend and strayed a bit from plan but not too bad. Back on today.

Marilee, It seems as though you and I are opposite of each other. When I am not on plan, you are and visa versa.

Well off to get supper rolling.

Just finished another 25 min run. I think I am at about 2.5 miles or so. Tomorrow I am planning to go to a class called "turbojam" which is some kind of super kickboxing. I'll probably hate myself this time tomorrow night!
Today was supposed to be my higher day in calories and fats but I haven't been too hungry so it was tough trying to get it in.

FF, you killed me with the wife comment lol!

Marilee, we're all sending hugs to you and hope that things get better soon!

Marilee, just keep poking your head in until you feel like talking. We miss you when you aren't around. Sometimes it is so hard to keep to our plans and then, like a light goes on we can have such a good stretch. Wish I knew where the switch is.

Tony, is a green banana just one that is not ripe yet or is it something other than a yellow banana?

FF, you will have to be our trail guide if we ever make it to the city. You would keep us tourists safe and sound.

Vicki, 50 minutes of walking is terrific. This time of year is just the best for extra energy!

Artemis, the word turbojam makes me tired just reading it. I hope you had fun doing it and not too many aches and pains today. Tell us all about it.

My brother did not get to show us his pictures of trip to Europe last week as we all got to gabbing that day. He goes home tomorrow so we plan to watch them this morning at 10. He is going to plug his camera into the tv so Mom can watch the slides more easily.
We miss him when he is not around but he and rest of his family will come for a week around Christmas. I better run. Will write more when I get to Mom's.

Have a good Tuesday all and good luck Tony on the weigh in this morning. I am still up the 1 pound. ugh

abi, happy you posted early this morning! i bet your mom will really enjoy the photos from your brother's trip...have a great day!

vicki, that is great that you walked for almost an hour...you and ff will have to stroll together sometime!

artemis, i'm guessing you would beat ff and i in a foot race - nice job!

u are quite right Tony; speed is not my forte.

I was built for comfort. so, i go for endurance. I neglected to mention I nearly became a god last night. A big tractor trailer semi with a container larger than my (earth)brother's house (it is a big house)nearly mowed me down. The light was with ME. Brooklyn has the worst drivers in the alpha quadrant. To add insult to injury, his cargo was all carbs. it adds a new dimension to the expression CARBS KILL!!! they nearly did. FF

I can't believe half of the semester is gone already. I teach two courses, each 7 weeks in length. The first one wraps up tomorrow and the 2nd one begins on Thursday.

I had greek yogurt, strawberries and protein powder along with my usual coffee with half n half. Lunch is what remains of the Butternut squash pie (of which I won't make again), faux twice baked potatoes, chicken and an apple.

I finished off the peanut butter and chocolate nuts from Emerald last night along with the banana chips I bought at TJ's. I know, both are high in carbs, shame on me. But, how could I pass up banana chips for under a dollar? LOL.

I did a Tami Lee Webb DVD "Hot Spots" dvd this morning. My usual routine is to get up early to exercise in the a.m. However, with fiance' around some mornings, I don't and wait until after work. When we get married, I am not sure what I will do. I will probably try and continue my a.m. routine.

hey vicki...i am completely sympathetic re: banana chipss

& cheap ones too!!! it reminds me of the coffee truck that i supported for well over a year until I put my foot down. But I did. the coffee truck is still there, but when I do pay him a visit, it is for coffee only!!! It gets less difficult with practice, but i doubt it will ever come naturally to me. btw have u tried a one minute muffin using Davinci Banana flavoring? FF

FF, glad you are safe and sound. I just got back on the computer to make sure as they just reported a bus crash in NY City. Also glad the carbs didn't kill you last night!

Tony, hope they didn't take too much from your store last night. Have you ever been robbed before? We are having alot of robberies in our quiet little town of Brattleboro and also two murders, and a missing young man all in the last few months.

Vicki, what courses do you teach? I'm sure you are looking forward to a break!

It is in the 30's this morning so I just put the ham bone on the stove with carrots, onions and celery to get ready to make pea soup for DH later. I plan to remove a couple of cups of stock before I add the peas later so I can have some low carb soup. I may add some veggies or just sip as is. It smells delicious!

Vicki, my niece made some almond flour crackers that were not bad for Sunday brunch. I made some yesterday. Before I baked them I melted 1tb of butter, brushed the tops and sprinkled on salt to make it stick. They are not bad.

Oh no Tony! Hope there wasn't too much damage!

Glad you are still with us FF!

I was super bloated this morning. Couldn't even bend my fingers easily. So I skipped the scale this morning. The past couple of days were crazy at work and didn't get my water in. I know that's what it is so I won't freak. So I already had a half gallon water before work. I have a long conference all morning and I will be taking my mega water bottle which holds 1/4 gallon which I hope to get in before lunch break. I'd like to get a total of 2 gallons in because I know I need it!

Will post again this evening after my turbojams class and let you know how it went if I don't chicken out lol!

the would-be robbers didn't take anything, but they made a mess...no big deal - the store is in a nice little suburb and we might see something like this once every 12-13 years...

being up so early and out of routine my stomach was rumbling around 6 a.m., but i went back to sleep and i don't feel that hunger now...weird, if we can wait out some of these urges, we'd be better off...

i'm proud of all of you who are getting up and exercising!...

ff, especially happy you were able to avoid the carbs (truck)!!!!

ok, i was at 216.8 today so the first penalty of "operation 1derland" must be imposed!...as some of you may remember, my plan allowed ALL foods unless i did not lose at least .2 lbs. from friday to friday, or if i showed any gain from friday to tuesday...since i weighed in at 215.6 last friday and i am over that weight today, i must add a restriction to my plan...

the first restriction will be to eliminate all processed sugar from my diet...although i try not to eat much of it, i do love the occasional square of dark chocolate or spoonful of ice cream or bite of apple pie - NO MORE!!!...all restrictions apply until i get below 200 lbs., so i have a while to go before i taste sugar again...and halloween is here, so this one hurts!... :-)

if i do not get below last friday's 215.6 by this friday, i will have to impose another restriction...the next restriction will be no bread of any kind...<gulp>
