Tony, I am half Irish and half English. My brother and his college buddies go to Europe every 5 years since graduating and picked Poland, Czechoslovakia and Hungary this time around. Hoping you will see a loss tomorrow!

Vicki, this is the most tempting time of the year for most of us especially if you are in an office situation. People just have to bake and bring stuff in to share. It makes it so difficult to stay on plan. So glad you were able to ignore the cookies in the zip lock! I hadn't heard about the peanut butter but it seems like everything is going up in price.

Marilee, it just dosn't seem fair that going slightly off plan sends the weight climbing and it is so slow coming back down when you are following the plan to a t. Hang in there!

Artemis, glad you are showing an overall loss for the week and wishing you the best for Saturday's weigh in!

FF, hope you fell asleep before the second burger! That is one way to keep the portion control in check! lol Enjoy the cooler weather for a few days!

Family that is in the area was planning last night to have a dinner together tonight, either pizza or chinese take out. Since it is my afternoon/night off I told them not to plan on me. So that is one temptation I won't have to contend with!

Jenny, did you end up trying a fat fast? How did that go?

Will check in with you all later!

as usual, i switched to chinese.

i ordered 2 large orders of ribs, but had only 1. i did not go to bed until midnight. I had the ribs at 7:30. I was starving to death 4 hours later. So, i grabbed 2 thin slices of muenster cheese, and a FAYGO choc. soda. that did the trick. I had a wonderful night's sleep. i so wanted to watch a classic episode of Law & Order: Criminal Intent, but i could no longer keep my eyes open. Sorry, Bobby. FF

I stocked up with 2 jars of Smuckers PB last night.

I plan to weigh in tomorrow to see if scale budged since I have been on track for a few days now. Hope it is good.

Woke up feeling more run down than yesterday. That worries me because I have to learn a new procedure today and I have a running session this evening.

artemis, when i am feeling sluggish, i can usually trace it to either being dehydrated or not eating enough nutritious foods...hope you feel better as the day progresses...

abi, i'm proud of you for extracting yourself from an obvious off-plan meal - that takes willpower!...hope you don't get soaked these next few days...

vicki, good luck on weigh-in tomorrow... :-)

ff, nice job moderating your menu last night...it's always good when you can fend off hunger with a small, on-plan snack...i'd ditch the pb if it doesn't taste good...

the scale read 215.2 this morning - a 1.4 lb. drop from the past few days - finally - but i need to maintain at least 1.2 lbs. of that loss til tomorrow or i suffer a penalty...skipped breakfast again this morning - a bad habit i know but i had an early morning meeting and didn't have time...had 6 cashews as a snack a few minutes ago and may have to skip lunch and just settle for a nice dinner of god knows what...

hope y'all are having a good day!

FF, I made the mistake of buying that WF peanut butter once too! It tasted so bad that I seriously considered contacting the company and telling them that should remove it. I don't know what they put in it, but I'm pretty sure it's not fit for human consumption.

Tony, there are a million things that could be making me feel poorly because of my dysautonomia. I just don't know if I have the energy to do my run today. I am probably anemic as usual. It may just have to wait until tomorrow.

I tried to salvage the coconut oil mayo by making a separate batch of mayo using olive oil. Then, I blended the two. It was pretty runny after blending and I put it in refrig. Tonight I took it out to see what happened. Not good. The flavor is ok but I have runny mayo from the olive oil and solid globs from the coconut oil. I softened about a cup of it in the mwave and tossed it onto cole slaw. We will see what happens. I guess I won't be doing that again.

to be fair, WF does make a good bbq sauce.

they make several, but my SHOPRITE carries only the original, which I mix with chinese mustard to give it a zing. I put it on tonight's ribs (the ones i did not touch yesterday.) Quite good. FF

Raining hard right now and thundering and lightning. Mom still sleeping through all that. I'm guessing the family dinner last night tired her out. Did not miss having to watch them all eat pizza or chinese. I had ground beef, a pork chop, some cheddar cheese and my brocolli and dip. Was down a pound today because I drank a lot of water at home yesterday but still up from regular weight.

Vicki, I am so sorry the mayo did not turn out well. It is awful to have those expensive ingredients go to waste. I have had that happen several times lately with using strong flavored olive oil and then the flax oil. I use a stick blender when I make my coconut oil mayo and I melt the oil in microwave first. What do you use for a blender?

Artemis, I forget you have dysautonomia because you keep such a healthy lifestyle. Did you get into medical research because of this? Hope you have more energy today and that learning the new procedure went fine yesterday.

Well, Mom is up so will finish this later. Have a great Friday everyone!

FRIDAY IS HERE. DISGUSTINGLY ENERVATING HUMID FRIDAY!!!

Look, it's Friday-I'll take it. However, Sat & Sun will be dry and cool-Great walking days. I will most certainly take advantage of it. I will make an appearance at the gym,on Sunday, but minimally on the treadmill, and focus more on the muscle machines. Better than nothing. FF

Abi, I got into research in the beginning because I have a large number of neurological diseases pop up in my family and have had to watch what horrible things it did to them. I got sick as a teenager and it took them until my mid-20's to figure out what it was. It was really rough sometimes trying to get an education and working while having to go in and out of hospitals and emergency rooms having all sorts of diagnostic testing done. But my research is so much better for it! Unlike most physicians and scientists, I know what it's like to be a patient. I've had to come to terms with what I can and cannot do and make some serious lifestyle adjustments. Some days are worse than others and I know my limitations but I just decided that I am not going to just sit and wait for it to consume my life. I am going to live it to the fullest! None of the doctors have figured out what type I have or it's origin so I am scheduled to see a specialist here some time in Feb. I've met a lot of people from all over the world with this and many people end up in wheel chairs or bed ridden so it makes this running thing more important. I want to know what it feels like to run a race just in case I can't later on.

Speaking of which, I need to get a session in today and Sunday hopefully.

Weigh in today: 208.6, yahoo finally going in the right direction.

I ended up throwing out the mayo, what was left of it and the coleslaw, all gross. Oh well, live and learn. I use a Vitamix for my blender but also have a Magic Bullet and an immersion blender too.

enjoying my lunch, the more so as i share it with y'all

tuna salad on 1/2 lc pita with a salad on the side incl 1/2 oz crushed pecans, and 1 T mayo. I do not know what is for dinner, but it will be good. i am focusing on cutting down on my portions of fat. For example, i allowed myself a free hand with the mayo packets. but if 1 will do the job, why add more? The same with cooking fats. My % of fat calories stays the same as before 65-70%, but the quantities are less. Of course, i see to it that i do not feel deprived. FF

Tony, it's nice to be missed at 4:35 in the morning. Was that just a freak thing or are you always awake that early? Hoping your weigh in went like you wanted and no restrictions!

Wow, Artemis, what an inspiring post! You definately are a better researcher for having been the patient so much. Much more drive to find out what causes these neurological diseases so cures can be found.

Marilee, hoping for some good numbers for you the end of next week!

Vicki, I made some pumpkin bread with almond meal yesterday. It did not call for any sweetener which was ok with me. I am trying to stay away from sweet tastes. It was pretty blah but warm with butter on it was not bad.

FF, I have always liked your mantra of "not being deprived". I think that is the kiss of death to some of us and then we fall way off the wagon. Still contemplating my one possible treat at Christmas.

Have a good evening and weekend everyone!

artemis, thanks for sharing that with us...your story is an inspiration to me...i am so happy that you are living your life to the fullest...so many people take their good health for granted and they shouldn't..,

abi, i'm usually up early, but not as early as you!...i do look forward to your early morning posts :-)

ff, good luck with the walking this weekend - i'm gonna try to get in some exercise too - maybe a round of golf with the boys...today was my "on" day for ab and weight training...i am still proud of myself for sticking to that every-other-day schedule for the past year and a half...have never stuck to any regimen that long...

vicki, congrats on the drop!...i'm proud of you for getting back on track - keep it up!!!

marilee, don't beat yourself up - i think you are doing great...we all have periods where we are not losing or when we are even gaining - this is a marathon, girl, and you're gonna finish it!

i'm not sure what the deal is with this new scale...every time i climbed on it today, it would flash 215.6 and then would settle at 215...i'm not confident that i am at 215, so i'm gonna count it as 215.6...based on the fact that i was 215.2 yesterday and what i ate last night, i think 215.6 is more likely...which means a 1 lb. drop for the week and no penalty...

i can live with that...

good for u, tony.

i will eventually switch to another gym easier to get to on weekdays. i made the best choice at the time, but circumstances change. No chinese tonight. It is bacon cheeseburgers, with my own sunnyside egg on top of each. Of course, one earlier, and one later if necessary. Just to clarify, not feeling deprived is an on plan strategy. Getting enough fat is important, and eating ONLY when hungry can turn a "humdrum" food into a magical adventure. I hope we all have a great ON-PLAN weekend, so that we may not have a WEAK end. FF

Felt well enough to get a run in tonight

Good job Tony and Vicki! About the scale, I noticed that I weigh slightly different when placing the scale in various places in the bathroom floor depending on how level it is. So I try to always place it on the exact same tile every time lol. I'll post my week's total in the morning.

Good morning Tony if you are up this early on a Saturday morning. No rain today! Yay!Concerning the scales, most that I have owned will always change a little everytime you step on and off so I always step on it once like Vicki and like Artemis I try to put it in the same spot every day as that changes it too. I just try to be consistent.

I was just watching a news vidio SIL e-mailed me about the Shrimp Fest in Gulf Shores going on this week. He said he wished he know someone living there and we could all be eating shrimp this week. We could walk to it from the condo we lived in. Made me sort of homesick. One of the organizers mentioned in the article has a landscape co. and I worked part time for him one summer. Small world.

I was down another pound today. Trying to follow FF's lead on the portion control. I think not eating the ham the end of the week has helped with water retention. I am bringing the leftove ham to the brunch tomorrow so weight will probably up again on Monday.

Artemis, glad you felt good enough for a run yesterday!

Marilee, at the family dinner Thursday night ( which I did not attend) my brother brought maple syrup liqueur that he had picked up at a new tiny distillery here in Brattleboro. My nephew told Mom it would knock your socks off. I guess it was very sweet but strong. Vermont maple syrup of course.

Better run. Everybody have a wonderful day and I will check in later.

Good morning everyone! I was down 3 lbs for the week So that is a net loss of 2.5 for the blitz so far.

Oct 1 - Oct 8: +0.5
Oct 8 - Oct 15: -3.0
Oct 15 - Oct 22: Goal will be 4 lbs but perhaps too ambitious, will take whatever I can get!

u are absolutely right, Artemis. vis-a-vis scale placement

3 tiles to the left, and seven down, always worked for me. Well, I got a walk in this morning. It was not a power walk, but I WAS on my feet for nearly 2 hours. Made some changes/compromises while food shopping. I ALWAYS get 8 oz salami (Hebrew National-1 gr per 2 oz). This time I got only 1/4 lb. Because, I know that if I buy 8 oz, I will eat 8 oz. I also bought low sodium muenster cheese. This is to mitigate the high sodium content of some things that are a FF necessity, like the aforementioned salami, and nova scotia lox. Of course, I DO NOT cook with salt, or add it at the table. Tonight is a shell steak bone in (1.01lbs raw). With that I will make a kick-a$$ stirfry, with celery, onion, mushrooms, and 4 different color bell pepper slices, and plum tomato (the only tomato I will ever need). I may go outside again after the afternoon opera. I do not have to do it all at once. I did have my 2 bacon cheeseburgers, with tomato, and onion (pickle on the side)last night. The plan was to have 1 at dinner time, and one later in the evening. Well, as it happens, there was no dinner time. So, I had both at 8:30pm, but I did not make the sunny-side eggs. Before bedtime, i had 2 thin slices of muenster cheese, and a can of diet coke. I am being very sparing with the pork rinds, owing to the salt. These are small changes, which make transition to better eating behaviors do-able. Major changes do not work...well, they do not work for me. Enjoy the day, Blitz VII HEWMONS. Talk to y'all later. FF

ff, your approach is so, so sensible...you are taking all the important factors into account and formulating a plan that is sustainable and gets results...i have been watching you for over 1 1/2 years and you never cease to amaze me!...

abi, what a beautiful morning!!!...enjoy it!...congrats on the pound loss - that is awesome!...

artemis, wow!...what great results!...4 lbs. is very ambitious but why not set your goals high?...just don't get discouraged if you don't quite hit it...

i should probably just get on the scale once, but it may be an ocd thing with me...i want to KNOW what i really weigh!...

jenny, where are you?...hope you are having a great week...

see y'all in a bit

skipped breakfast again, and just ate for the first time...nice, little, light lunch of roasted mixed veggies, about 2 oz of grilled chicken and 24 oz. of water and a shot of acv...

the scale said 216.6 today, so i think my 215.6 was the correct number yesterday...i salted a bit last night so i'm certain it is fluid as i ate very much on plan and a reasonable portion - bacon cheeseburger, no bun...

Busy morning with getting Mom ready for church and then the brunch at my nieces's house. Looking foreward to most of us getting together. My youngest sister won't be there because she and her DH are playing in a golf tournament but there will be the other 4 there. These times all together are very precious.

Breezy and chilly out this morning. Hope the wind dies down when I have to get Mom out in it.

I managed to keep off the pound from yesterday even though I felt I ate too much. We will see after the ham this morning.

Artemis, 2.5 pounds for the blitz so far is very good. Are you hoping for 4 more pounds off by the 22nd or total of 4?

FF, you have your food choices weighed, measured and planned like a scientist and it is working! Have a good walk today!

Tony, what are you doing today? Your roasted vegetables for lunch sounded delicious!

Better get going now. Have a great Sunday all and I will check back with you all later!

morning, abi...not sure what i am doing today...did some re-organizing around the house yesterday and just relaxed and watched "bridesmaids" last night - funny if you have a warped sense of humor like i do...will probably go to work for awhile today and take my son out for a driving lesson - aside from those things, not sure :-)

have a great day with your family - it's great that you realize how precious days like today really are...

Stats: lost 125 lbs (size 22W to 4)/8/6
WOE: LC my way/calorie and carb cycling
Start Date: off and on since 2004
Yesterday ended up being a free day for me. Not free as in eating whatever I want but I didn't record my carbs, calories, and fats.

Abi, I'd like to lose 4 lbs this week if possible since I lost 3 last week. I set it high because I am going into week 7 of C25K and all the sessions will be intense. Plus, I'm going to try out a new kickboxing class on tues and thurs. But I will take whatever I can get!

Yesterday I found a recipe for a sugar free low carb pumpkin spice cake. I may just have to try it and give y'all a review.
