hey mama!!!!!!!!!...it is soooo good to see you - it has been way way too long...i'm so happy to hear you are about to be a mama again - good for you!...hope you will stick around and keep us posted on you and the baby and that cutie pie in the photo :-) btw, you are NOT a hypocrite...all good parents want better things for their children than they do for themselves, and you are a GREAT mom...don't forget it!

vicki, best of luck tomorrow - i know you are gonna come through it with flying colors, kid!...

artemis, good to see you...how are you feeling?...

ff, i think you need a couple of ex-wives and i believe there is still plenty of time for you to accomplish that... :-)

marilee, sounds like a nice christmas break...wish you were close enough to visit on the holiday...

abi, picked up a nice tree on saturday, but it's still outside...we've been busy enjoying sarah's visit and had a party here on sunday...very nice and way too much food...

was up to 222.6 yesterday and 222.4 this morning...want to get below 220 by the end of the year...then make another push for 1derland early next year...

Mama, what a beautiful little girl and another one in Jan. That is terrific. I think you are close to giving up the sugar and carbs. Just feeling guilty is a good step and not eating them around the little one is good too. Keep posting and you will be carb free any day now.

Vicki, after all you have had to do the last few days and facing your surgery today, I can't believe you had the enthusiasm to make 4 batches of cookies! We are all thinking of you today. Post as soon as you can and give us your update.
((hugs))

FF, ha ha. I thought you were kidding about the 3 ex wives. I knew you were too smart to make the same mistake for the third time! Hope you enjoy your ride on your fictitious horse in the Hamptons on festivus! You still haven't told us what dogs were getting the Christmas presents.

Marilee, enjoy your company lunch and early out on Friday. Also enjoy your nice extended weekend!

Tony, hope you are getting some nice family pictures while Sarah is home. We have let some good opportunities pass us by from too much chatting and laughing as the cameras sit there on the table. Later it's darn, why didn't we take some pictures. By the way, if the tree keeps sitting outside you won't have any pine needles to clean up!

Artemis, will you get home for Christmas and do you have a little extra time off this weekend?

Have a great Tuesday all!

There is a Chanukah Breakfast in the synagogue at our hospital.

150% carb. I would not touch it even if i were Judah Maccabbee himself. I teated myself to a small pack of pistachios. I took out 10 nuts. tomorrow, the other 10. FF

I am hanging in there to the best of my ability. I have an appointment with the specialist in Feb and I cannot wait. There are only a handful of specialists in this area in the entire country so I am really blessed that there is one here. I have all of next week off so maybe that is exactly what I need. Believe it or not, I have still been going to the gym. I just do what I can and don't push myself...even if that is only 10-15 min some days.

Lovelifemama, nice to meet you (I'm not sure if have met on previous Blitz'es??).

the dogs belong to my (earth) bro and sis-in-law.

if i know my brother (Mr Technology!), no doubt the dogs have their own website. i am enjoying a wonderful salad with a lot of stuff in it. however, most of it is still lettuce, so even though it's a BIG SALAD, i will still be within Induction limits. I am very much in the mood for fried chicken, so as soon as the holidays are over, i will make a whole mess of it, meaning i will make a mess. However, that is part of the experience. I went to THE PLACE, but they said that the sugar free candy canes are coming in tomorrow. They said that yesterday. I did get a folding table, but it is not minty. I will try again Friday for the sugar free candy canes. that will be my last attempt for 2011. Even if i order them on the web, it would take a few weeks before i got them. with 1/2 the population of this country diabetic, or pre-diabetic (remember there are millions who go about undiagnosed), u would think that it would be a more common commodity this time of year. I also have not forgotten about the celeriac latkes, but i just do not have the time, now. I am sure by the time more readily available. FF

it's me again!!!

damn, that was one kicka$$ salad!!! It got me thinking that maybe, it is time to start upping major salad and veggies (not the starchy ones), and lower, MEASURABLY, the critter portions. It is something to think about. I really need to stop *****-footing around, and get some decent poundage off this extra-terrestrial keester of mine, if i want to enjoy myself in VEGAS. I will be mulling this over. I miss my veggie stir fry with smaller portions of critter. I can make a 2 lb londoil broil last a week. yes, i've got some thinking to do!!! FF

So far so good for today. But I am craving the garbage...

Ate is, good luck. I hope you find an answer soon. And Vicki, wishing you an effective surgery and speedy recovery.

ff, that sounds like a good plan to me - upping low-glycemic index veggies adds fiber and nutrients and is filling...add more water and that multiplies the benefits...and it is low-cal which leads to weight loss...i think you are thinking correctly!

artemis, i think you are doing the right thing...it would be easy when you are feeling poorly to just give up on the exercise, but moving around (although not over-doing it) helps keep you moving around, and will make getting back to a more rigorous training program easier when you are feeling better...i'm proud of you, but remember, only do what feels okay to do... :-)

abi, i am terrible about photos...i never take them...i hope someone else did...just took sarah back to the airport - it was hard watching her leave...we all loved having her home and it just made us remember how much we miss having her around...she was quiet on the ride to the airport - i think she was sad to leave too...

well, the scale read 221 today - down 1.4 from yesterday but i'm not gonna celebrate 221!...i feel fat and have to get losing again...i've been moving in the wrong direction for too long!...

today:
b: veggie omelet
l: skipped
s: 6 pistachios
d: maybe a stir-fry?

i had asked a few days ago, what anyone plans to do differently...

in Blitz VIII. I will answer that question now. I am going for the big burn. It is true, I HATE EXERCISE. I really do. I define exercise as any movement I do not enjoy doing. i like walking. Ergo, walking is not exercise. I do not mind lying on the floor (yes, i can lie from any position),and doing leg raises, and all sorts of contortionary movements, ergo, that is not exercise. So, i will focus on those things I do not mind doing, and fuhget about the rest. I DO need to up the plain water, and I MUST make a concerted effort (F sharp?)to get in at least 2 litres or liters of H2eau du jour. And, yes, the thinking is over. i will have a nice amount of dark green leafy dominated salads, with some fun and non starchy items. I can even make croutons from my low carb bread or bagels. And, i will continue to declutter. that burns calories. Enough changes for now. FF

FF, I have been in the salad mood lately too. Last night had a big bowl with some Newmans olive oil and vinegar dressing, a small can of tuna dumped on top and some mayo on top of that. Very satisfying and delicious. I don't like to exercise either. I do like to walk but don't have the time. I try to keep moving and hope I am burning something.

Tony, I know you will really miss Sarah not being around. It is great that you can get to Nashville often and see her. I am sure she is looking forward already to your next trip down south. Hope you keep off that pound lost yesterday!

Marilee, have you heard how Vicki's surgery went yesterday? If you talk to her tell her we all said "hey" and hope she can check back in soon.

Mama, hope you were able to resist the cravings yesterday. Don't you wish there was a button in your head that you could push that would just delete them? It sure would make life alot easier!

Wishing you all a great Wed.!

Vicodin and ice, just what the doctor ordered. Oh, and leg elevated above the heart, hmmm, that is a bit difficult to do unless you consider my heart in my butt LOL. Of course when doctor went out and talked to DF about the surgery and showed him pictures, he said I need to lose weight or look at a knee replacement, duh. Don't you think I know that?

Oh, and while laying around yesterday, I watched Dr. Phil and there was something on there about the P.I.N.K. method of losing weight. Very minimal info about it, but from what I gather, it is eating fresh fruits and veggies and primarily raw, semi veganism. Yes, they claim you eat from all food groups. The only thing on the show they went in to detail about as far as food was a pink smoothie and a shred soup. But again, very limited info. The P.I.N.K. Method is a system for fast weight loss that combines diet and exercise for long-term results. P.I.N.K. stands for Power, Intensity, Nutrition, and Kardio. It is designed specifically for women that are in good health and are not pregnant and/or nursing.

Included in the program:

Nutrition Guide – 240 pages
3 Workout DVDs (20 to 40 minutes)
Bonus DVD (15 minute Yoga/lower body workouts
P.I.N.K. Method Certificate
P.I.N.K. Method daily motivation wristband
P.I.N.K. VIP Membership

Included in the VIP membership: lifetime access, 82-day full program, diet and workout plans, trainer and nutrition support, tips to personalize the program, tracking tools, and online community support
P.I.N.K. Method – The Program

The P.I.N.K. Method is unique because it is designed specifically for a woman's needs. It is a step by step process that is unlike any other program on the market today. They have divided the system into four stages, which include:

P.I.N.K. Reset – This is a short time detoxifying stage that is designed to give your metabolism a boost.
P.I.N.K. Primary – This is a fat-fighting diet stage that introduces your body to high-energy foods that provides the fuel your body will need during the Phase 1 fitness program.
7-Day Shred – This is a seven day program that includes a "Shred Soup" that will help you lose those last few pounds, as well as help to prevent weight loss plateaus.
P.I.N.K. Preservation – This is the sustainable weight management program that will help you keep that weight off. This is the key to your long-term weight loss success.

These stages include the combination of diet and exercise that work together to provide maximum results for weight loss.

This sells for a One-Time Payment of $67.99 (which is 15% off regular price of $79.98) or you can opt for 2 payments of $39.99 (1st payment now, 2nd payment in 30 days = total of $79.98).

Reading several comments about this program after it was introduced on Dr. Phil Nov. 28th, many are skeptical because it is a sales pitch.

Good morning! Sorry I've been MIA...didn't want to post for obvious reasons.

Hi MAMA!!!!! So nice to hear from you!

I got on the scale and it was good news/bad news.....the bad news was - well, you know. The good news was, I thought it would be worse.

Well....another weight loss plan. Go figure! I'm tired of followin the next "great diet"....it can wear you out!

ff-how do you "fry" your chicken? And I love big salads, too! I'm so glad you enjoyed yours.

Tony, I'm glad you are had fun with your daughter. The holidays are hard without family around.

Hi Abi and Artemis!!!! Hope you are doing well.

Must get to work.....

well, gibby...there is the fun way (i.e. the messy way)

which is to fry it in the skillet. the neater way is to oven fry it. I pulverize the pork rinds, in as fine a particulate as possible. i then put my critter in a beaten egg solution. after which i put them in the pork rinds. I had heard from a post or two on LCF, that the pork rinds would adhere better if i used an egg white solution instead of whole eggs. I will buy some egg beaters and try it out. I put all my spices, btw, in the egg solution. If i am oven frying, i start it out at 350, for about 3/4 hour or so, and up it to 475 for the last 1/2 hour. It may work just as well(or better) to start it higher, and then lower it. This time around, i will allow a few tsp of applesauce to dip the chicken in. i always loved applesauce with breaded critters incl fish. It is all about quantity. as i will be home in the earlier part of Mon 12/26/11, i shall see to it that i have 2 cut up chickens waiting for me. I will buy them on Friday, and put them in the freezer. Sat a.m., just before I leave, i will put them in the fridge. I will pay some nice Baroque music while i am cooking. they seem to respond very well, to Bach Handel, Vivaldi etal. Incidentally, portion control WILL MOST CERTAINLY NOT BE A PART OF THIS FRIED CHICKEN EQUATION. I will make my legendary TROLL SLAW to go with the chicken. FF

ff, i'll have to try the pork rinds/fried chicken...how does it compare taste-wise to the real deal?...

vicki, happy to hear you got through surgery with no trouble...i love when docs state the obvious too!...hope you feel better tomorrow!...

abi, i not only kept the pound off today, i dropped another 1.4 lbs to get to 119.6...got a long way to go, but i like this decade a lot better than the other one!...i missed sarah so much today...

today:

OK, I am too much of a couch potato now. I watched the Dr. Oz show and saw how Alton Brown lost 50 lbs and has kept it off since 09. Makes sense to me.

Alton Brown's "Eat Daily" List - fruits, whole grains, leafy greens, nuts, carrots, green tea

Alton Brown's "Eat Three Times Per Week" list - Oily fish (wild salmon, sardines, etc), yogurt, broccoli, sweet potatoes, avocado

Alton Brown's "Only Once per Week" list - pasta, one alcoholic drink, red meat, dessert

Alton Brown's "Zero Times per Week" list - fast food, soda, processed meals, canned soups, "diet" anything (no artificial sweeteners)

Notes: Alton doesn't drink milk because it makes him want cookies, cake, etc. He has a breakfast smoothie with reminds me a little of the Eades' (of Protein Power) Paleolithic Punch (though Alton adds soy milk to his).

He touted soy milk and tofu on the program today of which I would stay away from. I would use almond or coconut milk instead.

Hey Vicki! You sound terrific after going through surgery. Do you have to stay off knee for awhile or do they get you walking right away? Will you be able to get back to work right away after Christmas break? I had notice on commercials etc. that Alton Brown had lost alot of weight. Interesting to hear what his way of eating consists of. Are you going to try it?

FF, I am curious too about the fried chicken breaded with pork rinds. Does it have the crunch and flavor of a regular recipe? I do love fried chicken. I think fried in lard would be delicious.

Marilee, love the profile picture. Is that kitten eating ice cream and loving it? The look on its face is precious. How is going today?

Tony, super on the scale moving down again!! Don't those teens look alot better than the 20's. Keep up the good work!

Had another big tuna salad for lunch yesterday and ground beef for dinner. My cousin came to visit Mom with a whole lot of baked goods. I am trying to get family as they come to visit to take some home with them. I won't give in to temptation but I also hate to see food get all dried out and have to throw it away.

Looking forward to afternoon and evening off. Will check back in later! Hope you all have a very good day!

of course, it does not taste like the "real deal"

but it does satisfy the FRAHD CHICKEN LUST within me. I think it is crispier in the skillet than in the oven, but I have not done it for so long, i do not exactly remember. i do remember that i LOVED it each time I made it. also, if the chicken parts are too large, cut them in half, to cut the cooking time. Have plenty of paper towels to absorb the oil after they come off the skillet. Tonight, i am gonna sleep the sleep of the dead. Even caffeine isn't doing it for me. I will probably snore through the WW meeting. Here, by the way, are the ingredients of CARB KRUNCHERS BAGELS: almond flour, soy flour, bran flour, whole wheat bran flour, oat flour, sesame flour, unbleached flour, vital flour wheat, wheat germ, salt, anise seeds, maltisweet, cream of tartat, egg whites, soybean oil, dry yeast, soy protein, water, fiber gum, garlic, caramel coloring. all that for 3.5 gr for 1/2 bagel. Each whole bage is 3.8 oz by weight, and 135 calories. total carbs per entire bagel is 13.7 gr. fiber is 7.5 gr. sugar alcohols is 0.5 gr. Ergo, the digestible carbs per bagel is 6. wow, so 1/2 bagel is 3.0 FF

Abi, I am to gradually go back to whatever I was doing before surgery. I can walk on it but not exercise walk yet. He said it would take some time to be back to where I was before surgery.

I get my stitches out today and the lose-weight-to-prevent-knee-replacement lecture. My knee feels much better, now to start the exercises.

glad to see u are up and about vicki.

i thought u DID have the knee replacement. I had it back in 2002. security bells are ringing out all over town, everytime i walk through one of those things (for jury duty, airports etc). But that aside, it was a great experience. But, I did have to lose a lot of weight before they would operate, otherwise i could not have done the physical therapy. Of course, a few months after surgery I put it all back plus. i have since gone through that cycle several times since, and trying not to repeat it. Best of luck with the knee. FF

Was able to go an entire hour at the gym last night! Today, headache and stomach cramps so I may have over done it too soon so no gym tonight. It's just as well because I have to do laundry and pack for my trip home tomorrow.

Vicki, I am a huge fan of the food network because I love to cook and I didn't know that Alton Brown ever had 50 lbs to lose! He's always looked really small to me.

Morning!

Arte - I love the food channel. I have some favorite shows; Chopped - The Next Iron Chef was great! - and some others.

Not much news to report. I'll check in later.

do not overdo the exercise, Artemis.

i ALWAYS go gungho, in the beginning, then slack off, then stop altogether. i have gotten to hate exercise altogether. see my post from before on that subject. i am doing the handweight thing every other day. once the holiday chaos is over, i will set down to a regular, but moderate program i can do at home, save for the walking. I have already had 2 coffees this morning. i may have a third and 4th before the day is over. I am leaving Sat a.m. for JOISEY, and will return sometime on Mon. So, i will keep posting through Fri. even if i have nothing worthwhile to say (ha ha ha)FF

Hi Abi - I think the kitty is eating the whipped cream off a cup of hot chocolate. Yummy! Smart kitty.

Oh, Marilee, I see that is hot chocolate now with whipped cream. Adorable!

Vicki, hope the Dr. didn't get on to you too bad. It is amazing they are already taking the stitches out. How quickly the human body can start to heal. Just go easy and don't try to do too much this weekend. Get DF to wait on you hand and foot.

FF,you always have something worthwhile to say!! We look forward to what you will come up with next!

Artemis, hope you have a safe trip home and nice visit with your family. Hope you feel real good too!

Where is Tony today? Maybe he is finally putting up that tree!
