Good morning all! Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

FF, so glad you were able recently to get back on your Atkins plan and regain your serenity. We always think we will feel better if we eat off plan but we never do and end up feeling bad mentally and physically.

Don't have time right now to write much but will check back in later.

it's over... Christmas shopping I mean.

I looked at my watch, and realized that is was 2:30pm, and all I had was 1 small coffee, and 1 green tea...AND THAT WAS ALL!!! So, I took the bus in the direction of BK (i had to go in that direction anyway). I had my fave FLATFERENGHI fastfood feast( I am Forcing it, i know)the tripple whopper with cheese (ATKINS-ized) and a large diet coke with which to wash it down. I was toting about for over an hour a pair of 5 lb handweights, which I bought at the mall just before the FUN began. No more till next year, at this time. Now I can do my IN HOUSE exercises & my OUT HOUSE exercises as well. Whether I get to goal weight or not, or anywhere near it, I will at least have bulging biceps. FF

hey guys,
didn't realize i didn't post yesterday - sorry...i was in rhode island all day at a family get-together...didn't eat a thing - there must have been 20 pizzas and various other off-plan foods and i just abstained altogether...

afterward, i took my two sons out for a baked chicken dinner, but overdid the chicken - it was good but salty and i stuffed myself...i feel bloated today - no wonder - and don't think i'll weigh until tuesday as i don't want to get discouraged and want some time to flush...so yesterday was one step forward and one step back :-)

today, i've had a chicken leg to eat all day...and a lot of water, but it doesn't seem to be going through me yet, so i'm just getting heavier...waiting for the woosh!...

jenny, thanks for posting - i was starting to worry...happy to hear you are feeling better - that's the main thing...as twins, of course i am suffering from the same problem you are - not eating much all day and then too much at night - what is it with us???...don't beat yourself up...give yourself a chance to develop a plan you can live with happily and until then, try simply not to gain a lot more weight you will have to lose...that's my advice anyway :-)

ff, you are too funny and definitely a creature of habit...they must LOVE you at that chinese restaurant...lol...that whopper sounds good...

i am worried about artemis...she seemed to be doing well and posted every day, and i'm just hoping she is busy...

abi, hope you had a nice visit with your older sister...this place i am selling is huge - over an acre of inside space (store and warehouses) and 4 acres of commercial property where things have been collecting for over 60 years...it is so much work deciding what to junk, what to keep and what to donate...we've sold most of what we are gonna sell...can't wait for the closing on january 4th!...

okay, i better go get some work done...i think there will be burgers tonight for dinner...

We did have a nice visit, short but sweet. One of her grandaughters was turning 3 Sat. and she had to get to NY to help decorate etc.

FF, did that triple whopper with cheese keep you going for the rest of the day? If so, not bad. Glad you got your weights and can get working on the biceps!

Tony, what will power to resist all that Italian food! Smart not to weigh until Tues. and get rid of the water retention. Wow, that is alot to get hoed out and ready to sell! Jan. 4th is just around the corner and then you can take a deep breath!

I am still hoping that Artemis is just having computer problems and everything is ok with her family.

Hey Vicki, Jenny and Marilee! How are your Mondays going?

Had a couple of bratwursts yesterday, too much coffee. Can't remember what else. Still very busy with Mom. She is not bouncing back well from her illness from last week. I guess it is to be expected at 91 (on the 29th) and all the physical ailments she has been living with.

Have a great Monday everyone!

Hey guys...last week was awful. My parents house flooded again and they had to evacuate and live in a hotel. I've been really sick again too with seizures and passing out frequently. I've just been trying to hang in there and get myself back and forth to work. I'll try to catch up with the posts.
Hope that everyone has been doing well with diet and exercise!

Oh Artemis, I am so sorry about your parents home flooding and that you have been really sick. Will your folks be able to move back home when the water recedes? Sure hope so! You are such a trooper to drag yourself to work with the passing out and seizures. Hope you are feeling much better today! ((hugs))

enjoying day 3. back to woik, tomorrow.

i made some grilled asparagus a while ago. i consumed 6 spears. out of this world. In fact, the fibrous ends which Jacques Pepin bids us to snap off, I instinctively left on . I figured it would serve as a handle for a finger food.
They are perfectly edible and provide a few grams of fiber to boot. Asparagus is one veggie that should be made from fresh, not canned or frozen. I must save the rest for tomorrow. I have 8 spears remaining; good hot or cold. FF

Artemis, I'll remember you and your parents in my prayers.

FF, very stirring pep talk!

Sounds like everyone is doing well with the holiday season. I am having a busier time than usual with work, but food is going fairly well. Haven't had much time to overindulge -- LOL. I have been walking daily but still trying to get into a resistance training routine. My goal is to lift twice a week. I've come to realize that it takes more thought and planning than walking and healthy eating do, so it tends to get shunted aside in this busy season. Otherwise, things are going well.

i said i would make the celery root latkes today.

However, I was listening to a live Handel's Messiah from Trinity Church (near Ground Zero) It has been performed there every year since 1770. Quite a record. So, hopefully, I will get to it before week's end. I have not got the usb connection yet. So many things to do. I just discovered, I cannot renew my passport because i let it lapse over 15 years. That means I have to start over, and get a new one. The last time I did that, in 1971, they were ready to lock me up, because they refused to believe from where I originate. SILLY HEWMONS. FF

Short on computer time this morning. Hope you all have a great Tuesday.

Hope weigh in goes well Tony.

Glad to hear from you LCShadows and that the eating is going well.

Love asparagus FF. I agree, fresh is the only way to eat it.

Marilee, that is the key to success, keep posting no matter what.

Vicki, hope the preop for your knee surgery goes fine.

Artemis, hope you are feeling good today!

Talk to you all later if I get a minute

Hi LC!!!! Nice to hear from you.

So today is another challenge.....the company is providing pizza for lunch. Tomorrow is "high tea" at work so I'm sure goodies will be served as well. Then the only other thing is the 23rd for our company luncheon at a beautiful resort - The Hermosa Inn here in Phoenix. If you have a couple of minutes check it out. It's very nice. Then, of course Christmas Day. If I get invited to someone's home for dinner, I will go. Otherwise, I'll do a MAJOR LC dinner for myself. I'm getting sick from the junk I've been eating.

Oh, well.......

Have a great day everyone!

just do not eat the crust, Gibby.

what i do is put oodles of garlic oregano and pepperoncino(hot pepper flakes)on mine, to slow me up. I have not had on plan pizza for about a year. <Off-plan I order a sicilian pie with sausage, meatballs, and mushrooms and devour all 12 slices by the time it is lights out.> Frankly, i enjoyed the 2 slices I had in the pizza place even better, because i ate them responsibly. Just remember, we must plan ahead so that our holiday endulgences (IF we made the choice to stick to plan)are within our daily carb limits. As i always say, FRUSTRATION & DEPRIVATION are not part of any long term plan. I just may have pizza this weekend. it is one of my favorite vegetables. Also there are many lc pizza recipes on LCF and other places. Check out Cleochatra's lc pizza crust recipes for example. FF

abi, weigh-in was about what i expected... i'm at 220.6 today which sucks...nothing to do but try to eat light for the next few days and drink as much as possible...i've made no progress in 3 months - i think i was at 221 on 9/12/11...and i'm 18 lbs over my 20-year low earlier this year...

gotta face the facts and deal with it...i'm not discouraged, but the need to change things up is obvious...tough time of year to do it, but i AM GOING TO DO IT! :-) my main problem is not eating enough during the day and eating too much at night even though it is on-plan...simply too much salt and too many calories...

ff, i LOVE pizza - i eat the toppings and feed the dog the pile of crusts i leave behind!

hi marilee, welcome to the struggling club!...good thing we have each other to lean on!

Just checking to let you know that I am still making it...one day at a time. I haven't been able to eat much but I am constantly craving water so at least I am staying hydrated. We are having our christmas potluck today and for the first time I won't have to worry about cheating because the smell of the food alone is already making me feel ill. Well, at least that is one thing positive that can come from being sick I guess.
Gibby, pizza is a weakness for everyone. Once in a while when I get a craving, I have a lean cuisine one (not LC but definitely lower in fat and cals). But in your case, try taking some of the crust off.

artemis, i really am sad that you are feeling poorly...make sure you find some way to get nutrition - that's important to healing...

btw, i have a weakness for the pizza at "pie-in-the-sky" in nashville...they have three different crusts - the medium thickness well-done is awesome (when i am eating crust, of course!)

feeding carbs to the dog, eh Tony???

perhaps the PETA people should hear about that. it is NOT the way to HUSHaPUPPY. My southeast asian neighbors told me . So enjoying Dec. I am not stressing over losing more weight. I just want to stay on plan, and hopefully get back to what I was before the OFF PLAN EPISODE. This weekend, I PLAN to try that lc pancake mix(Maple Grove sugar free), making it according to directions. for my protein, i will have a rather generous portion of Hillshire Farm zero carb sausage. It is also lower in fat by 1/3. It is called HILLSHIRE FARMS LITE kielbasa. it is DE RIGEUR for our lot. I just wolfed down a 6 oz portion of tilapia and a small salad (incl a little bit of different multi-colored things incl less than 1 oz of greated american cheese. It is most reasonable to assign 5 net grams as there was 1 small slice of pickled beat, and 1 T of coleslaw. With dinner, i shall consume 4 spears (of the remaining 8)roast asparagus. 6 spears is 2.4 net carbs as per Dr. Atkins. Ergo 4 spears is 2/3 of that or 1.6 grams. Then 8pm thru 11 pm is my music period. incl parts 2 & 3 of Bach's Christmas Oratorio, and a vintage 1949 performance of the final scene from SALOME. Enough for 1 day's work. Who would want to eat after or during that? FF

Kielbasa is one of my favorite things!!!!! Pittsburgh has a large Polish population. We lived there when I was a mere youth and the kielbasa was OOTW (out of this world!). Nathan's has come out with it and it tastes as close to the Pgh one as I can find. Yummy!!!

By the way, I boycotted the pizza luncheon..."NO PIZZA FOR YOU!"

However, I may STILL have pizza this coming weekend, if I have time. I will soon be making dinner. 1 porkchop & 2 burgers, both in the FF/pizzaiola style. FF

Tony, sorry about the weigh in. I am up 3lbs right now and am nervous as heck that I can't get a grip. Definitely in the danger zone. Wishing us both a good day today.

Artemis, glad you are keeping hydrated. Sorry you have not snapped back from not feeling well. So hard to keep working when you would just like to rest. Pot lucks are the worst danger to us. Great you can look at the bright side of not feeling well at least in this one instance.

Vicki, when will you be having your surgery? Are they doing just one knee or both?

Marilee, what will power to stay away from the pizza. I think that of all foods (except for sweets of course) pizza is always my biggest temptation.

lol FF, pizza is one of my favorite (vegetables) too.

We are looking into getting a small wood burning stove to keep our oil costs down. My sister came yesterday and gave me an extra 4 hour break so I moved furniture around in living room to make space where we would put it. We have a friend that has about 30 acres of land who will let DH cut wood for free.

Everyone have a great Wednesday!

I CHEATED, I LIED!!!

I said I would listen to Parts II & III of Bach's Christmas Oratorio, but after Part II, I turned it over to Part V, and listened to the first chorus (Ehre Sei Dir, Gott) which is as BACH as BACH can get, and my fave number of the whole 6 part oratorio. Parts III & IV will be next time.I did play some other stuff too. Tonight, i am giving it a break. I just got Mighty Joe Young & after decades of waiting, the Beatles television film MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR. I will enjoy them both. However, I did pay for last night's joy this morning. I tore the place apart looking for my phone. Just as I was walking out the door, resigned to shell out more latinum for a new phone, in the corner of my left eye, there it was, sticking out of a bed comforter. Do not ask me why. the comforter is folded up on one of the living room chairs. I am still trying to calm down. I did have a delicious dinner: 1 pork chop and 2 burgers alla FF/pizzaiola. I ended up 1 point less than my alloted 52 WW points. I had consumed ony 8.6 gr carbs for the day. Now I am waiting for my coffee. Why do we let the scale upset us so? I wish I had an answer for that. FF

what are the chances that i would eat less in the evening...

if I ate more during the day??? NONE WHATSOEVER! If I ate a 7 course meal at 7 am, a 7 course meal at 12:00noon, i would be just as hungry for a 7 course meal at 5pm. that is the nature of my perverted metabolism. That is the reason why I try to get by with as little as possible during the day, so that i do not go overboard at night. Upt till 1 pm: i had 1 diet hot choc with whipped cream (5 gr-i an using up the old whipped cream. i have the Land o Lakes at home which is zero sugar added) i had 3 small thigh pieces of cajun chicken from our cafeteria plus a small salad incl about 1/2 oz grated amer cheese and 1 or 2 scant T of coleslaw, to which i added 1 T mayo. that makes all the difference. salad should never be merely lettuce, tom & cucumber (unless u REALLY love it)I will have 34 WW points left to me for dinner. It looks like a salmon evening with my remaining 4 spears of asparagus. I can eat as much as 18 oz of salmon, if i need to,and still have enough points for 2 oz of extra sharp cheddar. NO COMPLAINTS!!! FF

hey guys,
good night last night and good day today...

had baked haddock and a diet coke at a restaurant last night and today had lunch out with a friend and had sauteed veal with spinach and cheese in a marsala sauce - lunch portion - awesome!...

still feel fat... :-)

ff, congrats on finding your phone BEFORE replacing it...i can't keep track of all your music!...

abi, we used to have a wood stove - i love 'em...nothing like a wood fire...make sure you keep a kettle on top to keep the air from drying out too much...
