Thank you all so much for your expressions of sympathy. You are all so dear!

Marilee, that is a very encouraging loss! I also know you are enjoying the cooler weather!

Artemis, SSA - that is so funny! Walking the nature trail sounds lovely.

Tony, that is weird that both of our nieces were having birthdays yesterday. My niece turned 27. She is a trauma center nurse in Cleveland, Ohio. She will head back there tomorrow with her great dane and her roommate's boxer. It has been pandemonium here for several days!

FF, did the AT&T people help you out getting into your voice mail? How many messages did you have on there? lol Sorry about your feet.

Well, as I expected, even though I only ate low carb yesterday I was up a pound. Unfortunately, we will be having another family meal at Mom's again tonight with the leftovers. My cousin, a priest from Connecticut is coming up to help our pastor celebrate the funeral mass at 10 tomorrow and wants us to all get together. It may be Wed. before I get back to my simple, pound losing menu.

Hope you all have a great day!

i believe i frayed the nerves of one of the A T & T reps

Well it does stand for Annoying Terrans & (their)Technology. I called my (earth)brother in the early evening to call me, and that i would NOT take the call, so I could see if i could access it afterwards. I did. I also got a quick refresher course how to work the camera. I think I will go to the Met Museum in NYC next Sat (if it does not rain), and try it out. I have been searching for at least an 8" by 11" size image of Livia Drusilla, the wife of the God Augustus. This way i can have it expanded to poster size equal to that of her husband. I have a place on the wall waiting for her. I still have not the foggiest idea how to transer fotos from the phone to the computer, and the lady in the A, T & T store did not know either. I cannot believe how close to end of year we are. Foodwise, it will be a minimalist TG. But, the important thing is the music. I am in the process of moving my stereo into the living room. I expect to be VINYLLY ready by the weekend. It will be basically baroque and medieval. But who knows, perhaps some Wagner & Mussorgsky will creep in. There is an advantage. I will have plenty of room on the floor to do stretching exercises, leg raises, and all that sort of thing. Tonight i will be paying a visit to SHOPRITE. I am, just over $7.00 away from a free turkey, and i need more FAYGO. Later...FF

Can't wait to try out my new Callanetics DVD tonight! I will try to give a review tomorrow morning before I take my computer off to be slaughtered again.
So far today I have eaten less than 200 calories because I have not had a break at all at work. I should be starving by now but I'm not.

hey everyone, happy to see you all so chipper and doing well :-)

artemis, 200 calories is about what i eat during the day, but i more than make up for it at night, which is the problem i have...where did you take your nature hike?

ff, you and technology are almost as bad a fit as me and technology...

abi, good luck weathering these few days out of your routine...that usually derails me, but you are a lot stronger than i am!

i must be salted because i am up a pound and feel fat...i also have not been drinking enough water which isn't helping matters...

today, so far:
b: steamed veggies
l: 1 hb egg white
s: 6 almonds
d: gonna be baked salmon

Tony, I didn't even weight myself today. Knew I would be depressed. Also feeling fat. We had some of that rotisserie chicken last night and it was loaded with some kind of salty marinade. Plan on getting back to normal tomorrow. Funeral is at 10 today and it is going to be an exhausting day for Mom and me. In and out of car at least 7 times. That means 7 times of her being jostled by me and 7 times of me having to lift her. We will get through it somehow.

FF, it is wonderful that you are looking forward to the music and the enjoyment it will bring at Thanksgiving and not the food. That is so healthy!

Vicki, I hope you got a good 24 hours again. I know I feel so better about myself when I do.

Artemis, how did you like the callanetics? I have heard it mentioned on alot of the lc blogs here but don't know anything about it.

If I knew how to get pictures off my phone I would take more but don't have a clue. Amazing the AT&T girl didn't know either. You think she could have called one of their techie people and asked.

I made it to bed, yahoo.

I am hosting Thanksgiving and I wanted mostly low carb stuff. However, my mother said she and dad want the real thing. So, she is bringing cheesy potatoes and real pies and desserts. Man, she has even made the mock twice baked potatoe thing using cauli and liked it. I asked her to bring that before the request of real food. They are claiming "it's only once a year". Well, now that I am getting back on track, I want to stick with it.

I am providing the turkey, and I had some wonderful green beans with cranberries and walnuts, faux stuffing, and my own pumpkin pie. I am in search of a recipe I saw recently, but can't remember where, for faux sweet potatoes using cauliflower and pumpkin. Would anyone know where I may find it?

Abi, Callanetics was pretty neat. Definitely different than my usual workouts. The DVD I got has both cardio and toning workouts. It's kind of like a cross between ballet and yoga.

Vicki, I've never heard of the faux sweet potatoes but it sounds interesting. Let us know if you find it.

Bodies are such strange creatures. I was up a little this morning for no reason at all...had all my water yesterday, did not overeat, worked out, did not have anything salty...maybe it is just saying to me, "why were you dancing around in your living room last night? I must put on weight at once until I figure it out". Will take my computer in today so my posts may be sporadic for a few days.

i did it!!! i earned my free turkey!!!

and it only cost $300.00!!! I will pick it up very early on Sunday, before Shoprite goes nuts.( I may have to go back there tonight, to get some more diet soda. I could not carry it all last night.) I can get up to 21 lbs worth of turkey. i want to keep it as close to 10 lbs as possible. The Ronco can accommodate 15 lbs. However, i am just 1 troll, ergo 10 lbs can last till New Years. btw, i had no trouble with Ferenghi technology (even though much of it we "appropriated" from other worlds.). But we did get training in the Ferenghi equivalent of Kindergarten. Terran technology, in a word, sucks. If it was just me, then it would be just me. But all u HEWMONS too, are at the mercy of computer viruses, computers that crash, instruction booklets that even the Japanese can't understand, etc etc etc. How many of u were able to program your VHS players after 1 try only? C'mon be honest!!! I believe I have proved my case beyond a reasonable doubt. FF

Morning, all!

ff-you are too funny! A free turkey for "only" $300!!!

At the risk of being alienated from the group, regarding Thanksgiving dinner, I'm in the "it's only one meal" group. I love tradition and especially being alone, would be very depressed if I didn't have the traditional dinner that conjured up fond memories of family over the past years. With so many of my family have passed on....it's important to remember.

Still maintaining my 4.8 pound loss. Hopefully, will be down a couple more by the end of the week.

I'll TTYL!

Gibby, we will have to stand u in the corner, facing the wall (lol)

actually, i will have to deal with Carbocopia at Xmas dinner. but, it will be only that one meal. not the whole weekend. So, your task is to enjoy your
TG meal, and give us all the juicy details. I will try to take pix of my humble efforts, and transfer them to this site. I understand I need a plug called a USB connection to make the magic happen. FF

marilee, although i try to fill up on the LC options, there is no way i can sit at TG dinner and not had a dollop of mashed potatoes, stuffing and gravy...nowhere near what i used to eat and it is nice to not have to unbuckle my belt after dinner anymore...lol...but i will have a taste of everything too...

abi, hope you and your mom make it through the day without too much exhaustion - days like this make you appreciate the days that aren't, don't they?...

vicki, you are doing so well...if you employ an attitude of moderation, i think you will be fine...if you have something off-plan, try to make it a small amount, and try to limit it to one meal...

artemis, you are an exercise machine!...we will miss you while you get your computer sorted out...

ff, you are quite the shopper - a $300 turkey...remind me NOT to take you shopping with me...

well, i ballooned up to 218.8 this morning...it has to be salt and fluid, but it cost me another restriction, my third, so now i am off salty snacks which is actually a bit ironic and should be helpful!...

today, so far:
b: 1 hb egg white
l: ?
d: something with boneless chicken breast

Tony, a little dollop is all that is necessary. My stomach gets full faster than it used to so a little bit of each is enough.

Feeling a bit discouraged this week--ate mexican food over the weekend (almost all low carb--had a few chips, bites of beans, with salad and shrimp dish) but my weight popped up 3 lbs. I thought it would drop down and it was just salt but have eaten well for 2 days and nothing. I was feeling so good on Friday hitting a low point and now I'm back up...

Trying to fast as long as possible today and eat very little at dinner in an attempt to get the scale to drop back down. I guess I need to live and learn... no more little bites of this or that it is not worth it!

jenny, i agree with marilee...it's so easy to gain water and it takes a LOT of water to rid yourself of it...i must have drunk 1 1/2 gals. so far today...don't get discouraged...keep doing what you are doing and add a lot of water and you could lose those three lbs. by friday...

Tny and Gibby,
Thanks for the kind words--you support really means alot. Seeing big jumps on the scale is one of the drawbacks of weighing daily and I just have to suck it up and get on with things...

Well, Jenny, I am up two today. I didn't weigh yesterday because I knew this was happening. Had the insides of two deli sandwiches yesterday, some more of the rotisserie chicken with the salty marinade, alot of coffee with cream or half and half. Salad with dressing. I am hoping it is a mainly salt gain too and am back on the simple food today. The ceremony for my Aunt was lovely, and also the reception at my cousin's house. Even so I had a whopper of a headache by the time I got home. Stress! I can still feel it ever so slightly today. Plan to drink lots of water and start aiming again for a few pounds off by Thanksgiving. My plans for that meal will be a dollop of sguash, of turnip, cranberry sauce, some kind of sweet potato scallped thing my sister makes, turkey and green salad if other sister brings that. I can resist the gravy, potato and stuffing even though I have to prepare them. Still plan to make the low carb two layered pumpkin and cheescake pie.

Tony, so sorry you were up and have another restriction. Is there a level you will lose to that will allow things back in?

Marilee, proud of you maintaining that 4.3 pound loss!

Artemis, that callanetics sounds neat. Something between ballet and yoga just has a nicer image than other exercise I can imagine that looks so frantic in the videos. Do they have a beginner one or is just one set level of exertion?

Vicki, I will look for a faux sweet potato recipe today if I get a chance.

Talk to you all later!

abi, i revoke all restrictions when i hit 1derland and not before - eventually this will have to work, because at some point there will be nothing problematic left to eat! :-)

happy your aunt's ceremony was so nice - it's hard to sum up a whole life in a day or two...hope your mom held up okay - it had to be very very hard for her...

Good morning! How is everyone today? It's hard to believe that next week is Thanksgiving! Holy cow! or should I say turkey?

Was up a pound this morning, but I've been on plan so it's the usual ebb and flow one goes through.

Abi, I'm glad things went well at the service. Stress is a killer in more ways than one, so give yourself a break, stay on plan and get some rest.

Have a good day all - I'll check in later.

And, yes, dollop seems to be the word for this holiday season!

FF, hope you don't have the flu again. Did you get a usb cable yet for your phone. That's what I use to get my photos off my camera but the last phone I had from at&t I could never find a place where you could plug one in.

Well, I am up another pound today. The heaviest I have been in a couple of years. I hope half some of this gain is water. No rotisseri chicken today. The little bit left is going in the freezer and no salty salad dressing. Going to try to go lower calorie in my protein for afew days. I've got to do something before this gets out of hand.

Jenny, have you been able to get that salt weight off from the weekend?

Why can't I get the song "get a dollop of daisy" out of my head. lol

Marilee, thanks for the advice. Rest was what I needed and Bama the dog cooperated this morning and did not wake me up too early.

Tony, thanks for inquiring about Mom. She is doing pretty well. You know, at almost 91 and you are the last of a family of 6 you just take these things in stride or it seems that way. She is a strong person and it is not easy for her to show her emotions. My cousin who was an only child will have a hard time of it.

Vicki, so happy you have had some good days back to back. I need that now!

Mom gets her hair done today and then I will have my afternoon and evening off. Will check back in later. Hope we will have heard from FF by then!

there was most certainly some bug working its evil in my system.

i am recovered and back at work. However my computer at home must have caught the same bug. i am sure whatever is wrong with it is not covered by the warranty. I hope to have it back home in a few days. When i am using that monstrosity, it keeps me from the kitchen for hours. On the subject of off plan "excursions", I am in no way immune from these. However, i accept the consequences. Ergo, I am not cavalier about my choices. I make sure i am really going to enjoy it. So, if the dollop of MPs are that important, enjoy them w/o guilt, and get right back on the horse a.s.a.p. to minimize the damage on the scale. I am so glad it is just me this year. i am NOT willing to pay that price at this time. FF
