Canada friends.
Hi iam kinda new to the group I have lost 81 pounds 8 years ago and have gained it back and a little extra. I have had some negitive things happen in my life that brought me back to wieght gain. I do not like how i feel in this body and I need to make changes I do like who Iam . I noticed members are not from canada not that it really matters just the cost of stuff does differ here and some foods are not avalible here i live in a small town with the closest city 5 .5 hours way was hoping to find ideas for menu planning and to help stay on track and on a low buddget as money is tight. I would love any help and i look forward to being a active member of the group and make some friends.Thank you everyone for all the great advice that i have found here so far it is all going to help me be that person i know is waiting to be uncovered.

Tammy! I am in T.O. and there a lots of Canadians on L.C.F.s - from coast to coast. There are very few 'products' needed to low carb and in my opinion, the fewer, the better. Good luck and post often!![]() |

I'm in a city out side of Vancouver, BC.
I do struggle w/the cost of low carbing. But I think food prices are just going up regardless of how you eat. And be prepared - they are going up even more. Inflation is being caused by quite a few factors: low interest rates, poor crop yields, food being used for fuel, etc. I eat a lot of eggs. I make quiche casserole dishes when I'm sick of plain eggs. We also use coupons to buy canned meat - check some websites for good deals on that. Clover leaf has some great recipes ideas for their flavoured tunas. I also used canned chicken instead of expensive chicken breast for curries/stir fry. You can also just use a whole chicken - they are cheaper. And we use the bones/grisle for chicken soup w/shirataki noodles. I recently lost my supply of noodles but I see the canadian low carb place has them for $1.99 or something so still cheap. Good luck and stay strong,

goose1, you can get it at any supermarket in the same aisle as canned tuna. I bought NN brand at superstore and it was gross. I then tried the kirkland brand at Costco and it was fine. The texture isn't the best, but I simmer it in curries or stir fry for quite a while. Saves time bc before I was using frozen chicken breast - which meant I had to cook it for 30 mins before I could even start dinner!

I'm in Deadmonton (current murder capital of Canada). If there's cattle farmers around you, why not arrange to buy some beef from them? I still do this from time to time.

Hello fellow Canadians! I'm from Vancouver (as my login name says) and I have become a regular at costco. We buy the big bag of romaine which lasts the week (one per day in salad), chicken breasts that we freeze and dole out each day (not a fan of dark meat), steak of some sort, splenda, cream cheese and whipping cream. Luckily my DH likes salad as much as I do so we eat lots of meal size salads with protein on top. I wish I was a fan of canned foods but alas I'm picky. Tammy!

**waves hi to Tammy!!**
![]() I'm a fellow Canuck - from Southwestern Ontario! ![]() Your story sounds a lot like mine, about the loss and then the gain. It totally sucks, because I'd probably be at my goal by now had I not had a relapse, but I'm getting there, and you will too! Welcome to the group! Feel free to prod me anytime - I love sharing recipes, even if most of what I make is based on other things I find online. ![]() |

HI Tammy and all other Canucks!
I'm in Calgary, but from Winnipeg. I find LC specialty foods can be pricey, but the real food not as bad. Could we ask a mod to make this a permanent thread??? Would love to be involved with a CDN group. Anybody know how to do that? |

Hello everyone.
From Toronto Canada and just wanted to introduce myself and say hi. I was here in 2001, did fantastic on low carbing. Lost 80 lbs very quickly and now I'm back to start all over again. I'm on my 4th day and starting to finally get relief from these headaches. Carb-withdrawal sucks soooo bad!!! Anyone know where I can buy Ketosis strips?? Is there a way to join this group or is it just by posting here? I hope you are all having a wonderful long weekend!!! |

Hi from Montreal!
![]() I used to live in Miserable-sauga back in the day but have been happily home in La Belle Province for a looooong time. Good to see such representation coast-to-coast. Actually, I think I'm the most Eastern member so far. C'mon, Maritimers! Say hello! |

![]() But I often use the Kirkland salmon burgers - just cut them up and put them in a caesar instead of chicken just for a change. |

I was born in Burnaby - hubby and I are thinking of moving to OK. My mother lives there and I have a strong desire to be there for her in her old age. Plus, we spend tons of time up there in the summer anyway. My job is portable but hubby's isn't - yet. We are working on it though.
