Thanks Jennie!

Did you have a nice day?

Pretty low key at my house, we watched 2 movies (State of Play, Barney's Version). My turkey turned out great!

I had a pretty good day! I had to work Boxing Day, so it feels like the day flew by. Didn't have to cook, though - DH's auntie cooked, so that was nice - and we got leftovers for work the next day. Bonus!!

I'm glad your turkey was good. I love turkey - makes me wonder why I don't eat it more during the year!

Glad you had a nice day. Funny I rarely buy turkey either, why?

I had to work Boxing Day too, and New Year's eve and New Year;s day. I don't even mind actually. Usually people are happy and relaxed, nice vibe.

I am trying to get 3 days off this coming week as dh's sister is in hospital in Regina. Something with her eye, she might need surgery.

Happy New Year canucks!!

Happy New Years

Happy New Years to all the Canuck's out there. Had a wonderful night having a campfire last night with family and friends. New Years Northern style! Treated myself to weiners toasted over the fire with mustard!! Yummy forgot how good they tasted. Hope you all had a enjoyable evening as well!

Oh, lovely, GrandmaJo! That sounds like a lot of fun!

Now if it would just stop raining and being generally crappy here, I'd suggest a fire to the DH! (Heck, I'd even take a bit of snow - hot dogs and sugar free hot chocolate sound yummy!!!)

I prefer rain to snow - you don't have to shovel it! Snow on the ground this morning.

We have enough snow for everyone but we don't have to worry about roads up here , if it snow we just use th skidoo to get around. I know its different in the citys where people have to get somewhere. I have to fly out Friday hopefully to meet my granddaughter and then I will worry about the weather.I have two strong boys that will shove when needed! I much rather the snow then the rain but then I have been living North for a long time now. Its funny 47lbs ago I wouldn't of had near as much fun outdoors. Nor would I have been able to get comfortable on the benchs. Back to work for us tomorrow hope you all had a good holiday!

Well, in the grand scheme of things, I prefer rain to snow as well, because it's usually the heavy, wet stuff that sucks to shovel - but it's no fun being outside having a fire when it's raining, either! LOL

Ooo, getting around by skiddoo would be fun! Sounds like you're really, REALLY far north, GrandmaJo!

I had a fast holiday. I'm a shiftworker, so I worked Boxing Day, and worked nights on New Year's Eve, but the time has been good that I have had off! Now to think about getting things cleaned up. **sigh**

I bit Jennie, were beyond where the road goes! I work Monday to Friday so have had all the stats off although I did work between Boxing day and New Years. Back to work tomorrow and back to school for the boys. Things would be getting back to normal if I wasn't leaving on Friday for a week. So spent today cooking and freezing food for them all.
Skiddoo are a easier and more fun way to get around in the snow for sure. Rain here just makes a mess the roads get all muddy and it messes up the ice road. Although when its cold like it is today even skiddo's is not fun.

You must be way up north Grandma Jo!

I am really happy with my plan, but am really stuck weight wise. Time to step up and see if I can start losing again.

I'm in the same boat as you, Speedy. Been maintaining within 1-2 lbs since August (go me!) but can't seem to drop any. We're kicking it into high gear now that January's here! ^_^

Yay you!! Maintaining is still a huge success, at least in my books. Having said that I would really like to lose. haha.

Ok Jennie this is the time. Maybe we can get losing!

Hi Everyone -

I'm happy to have found Canadian friends, on this Board. I've been successful in the past on low-carb. When I logged back in on January 1st and saw my previous weight, I couldn't believe how much I have gained. 75 pounds in 7 months !! Not good. Last May I started getting frustrated with how slow my weight loss was going, so I decided to switch it up. I joined WW. Now, I'm not knocking the program whatsoever because I know it works. I am the one to blame. I would over-eat and eat constantly. For me, I found it hard. The reason I'm back to low-carb is because I know it works for me and that I need to avoid the sugars. Anyway, I'm kicking myself. Lesson learned. My first week back on low-carb and I've lost 8 pounds. I know what I need to do.............and just as important - I know what I need to not eat. No chocolate, pop, pastries, bread, etc.

I live near Ottawa, ON. I'm not disappointed whatsoever with the minimal amount of snow we have. I have a one-hour + commute into the city every day............so, I'm liking winter so far !!!!!!!!!!

Welcome, Stephanie!

Congrats on the 8lb loss! That's great! And even better is that you know what you need to do, and what works for you. Good luck with it all! **offers cheers from the sidelines!**

Hah, I totally hear you about winter, too. It's been really nice, and if it stayed like this through to April, I'd be totally fine with that! LOL

Stephanie!

GL to you! I can certainly relate to the sugar thing. It it definitely my drug of choice.

We have no snow here either (Calgary) and I'm loving it! However in our case I'm sure we'll make up for it in June

Sugar = drug of choice?

Never heard that before, but that's brilliant! LOL!!

(And, in my case, also very true... :S )

I wonder how common it is to stall when still many lbs. from goal? Would be interesting to try to take a poll of some sort. I guess what I would be even more interested in is to hear from people who have had an epic stall, broken it and how...

Thanks for the welcome.

clackley - I would be of no help to you regarding what happened to me when I had a stall. What I did was - quit low-carb, then ate everything in sight. Not a good choice whatsoever. Here I am, all these additional pounds later.

This time with low-carb, I'm staying away from sugar-free products also. As in SF chocolates, candies, etc. I'm also staying away from pop. No diet pop whatsoever. Water, tea, coffee...........more water, then maybe some more water. So far 9 days later, so far so good. As much of a chocoholic, bread, pastry person I am - surprisingly I have not had one craving. Strange, but a good thing. Perhaps I'm compensating with burning "Sugar Cookie" candles. LOL

I recently gave up diet coke - it was free to drink at my job, and I drank it every shift. Sometimes A LOT of it.

I am experiencing actual thirst for water now, something I'm sure I've never had EVER - or it was so long ago I don't remember.

Also my cravings for sweets are way down.
