Hi All

Just wanted to say hi to my fellow Canadians. I live in Eastern Ontario about an hour east of Kingston. I started low carb Sept 27 and intially lost 10lb in one week but have since stalled. But I am being patient and working at it. I like the fact that I'm not hungry and I really don't miss the bread and cereal like I thought I would.

**waves hi** Hey Sam!

I live in SW Ontario - in Sarnia, actually.

Congrats on the 10lbs! I'm in a stall right now, too. I was all excited - 20lbs from goal - then started upping my exercise. Gained like, 10lbs and have been pretty much consistent since then.

I read somewhere that when one starts exercising and such, sometimes it takes 4 to 6 months to start noticing the weight coming off again because you're changing that fat to muscle. I'm thinking to myself that since the clothes are fitting better, I know I'm not putting on 'fat', so I'm trying not to obsess about my scale (which is easier said than done! LOL)

Just hang in there - you know you're doing the right thing, so keep it up! **thumbs up**

Hi and welcome to the canadian thread

Hang in there, I hit lots of stalls along the way too. Are you at a weight you were for an extended period of time before? I found those weights were sticking points for me.

Happy Halloween!!!

We're having nice weather for it here in Calgary. Hope everyone has fun! I'm working and no costumes allowed. But I hope I get to see lots of interesting ones.

Happy Halloween to you too, Speedy!

I'm so bummed; I love Halloween, but I, too, am working tonight. No costumes for me, either...

Hope some of you get to go out and do something fun!

Halloween night was very clear and crisp - just the way a fall day should be

We had MASSIVE rain today so thankful that held off until today.

Work is going well and life is good on this side of the country, LOL.

That is cool. I am planning to go back to college (I just turned 50) and am going into the medical field. I was thinking Physician's Assistant, Nursing or Cardiovascular Technologist.

I can see Lake Ontario from my apartment windows. Very cool watching the Lake Freighters coming and going as they pass by.

I'm considering going back to school also. I wonder if there is something to that common theme? Maybe improving your health and body leads to improving other parts of our lives??

I think so. I have some more weight to lose before I can even consider going back but it is a future goal and one that is keeping me on track with the weightloss.

(I also want to eventually make more money and do something I will enjoy)

So much wrapping and shipping to do. I have to still send out my freaking cards!!

Honestly, I'm not usually this disorganized, but it's been one of those years, y'know?.. **sigh**

BUT we've got the lights up and the tree is up, and the pretty helps.

Hey there Jennie! I haven't done my cards either! I still need to buy a box somewhere. Why oh why didn't I buy some last year when they were dirt cheap after Christmas??

I think we're all in the same boat trying to get it all done in time. You'll get there!

I have exams til Weds and I seriously doubt anything will get done before then. Ah well....

I love all the decorations! I only have a tree (which I bought last year on the 29th for 15$ at SuperStore). This year I will buy some decorations for the house and Christmas cards!! during the big after Christmas sales.

Hey Speedy - if you've got a Dollarama near by where you live, you might be able to find cards there. They usually have pretty good stuff!!

Hee...Sorry Cathy! I think I got a hand cramp from doing mine.

I don't do xmas cards. I never have...it's like I never graduated that adult thing or something. I do enjoy receiving them. DH's family sends them and it's the only time we hear about his great-aunt or 2nd cousin My mother does send them but she is the only one in my family. It's such a nice tradition.

I'm doing okay on the xmas - decorations are up and all the xmas baking is done. I have some presents bought and most are "planning" (I know exactly what I am getting).

But I am just tired these days. Some big change is coming but the picture of what/when/how isn't clear yet.

**patpat** I hear you about being tired, Deanne. And I swear I live in a time vortex; I don't know where it all goes, but I do know that bedtime rolls around and I feel like I've done nothing.

I hope that whatever change is coming for you it's something good!

Just wanted to comment on the Marylin Denis Show - today they had someone on that was talking about getting through the holiday eating in reference to 'Belly Fat'. You have to wade through the truly backyards advice but there was a young woman who talked about reducing carbs and actually said that the calories one eats are less important that the source of the calories. She really seemed to get it.

BTW, I think Marylin is really stuck on her 'low fat' mantra. I am going to write her a letter one of these days.....

I haven't had a chance to watch her show.
It seems a lot of people are stuck on the low fat mantra - still - even now after all we've learned.

Live and let live I guess.

I've never heard of Marilyn Denis - is the Canadian Oprah? LOL ;-)

I have to say I'm the poster child for "low carb" instead of low fat...everyone in my office is always telling me how healthy I eat!

**grin** They say I eat pretty healthy, too, Deanne...as they're eating their pasta salads and chippies and whatnot...

It's a good feeling.

I've been here since Sept but this is the first time I noticed this thread. From Nova Scotia but living very very north in Northern Ontario for the past 20 years. Couple more years and we will be out of the north for good and living our dream back with family in NS. Nice to see all the fellow Canadians on here. I hope you all have a Very Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays which ever you prefer.
