How is everyone doing without NHL? I am in a bit of withdrawal, but keeping busy enough to not turn on the Tv and that helps.

We are in the planning stages of the holiday schedule and we suck this year. Usually,by this time, we've got the dates figured out for the parties we are hosting and start sending the invites, but this year?... We've already got 2 invitations for parties, one at the end of November and one the 2nd weeked of December. If I don't get a move on,all the good weekends will be taken up already. Why am I dragging my heels on this?

Anyone else having a tough time getting organized for dinners,parties,events,etc....or is it just lazy, ole procratinating me?

Has anyone seen the movie Argo? We went last night and really enjoyed it! I remember that period of time so well. I was a newlywed and I recall being so proud of my Canadian heritage. The movie was a sensationalized of course, but stayed mostly true to fact.

Tonight we are going to dinner at a neighbours and I am bring fresh homemade peanut brittle. Turned out so good

Dh is bringing a bottle of his favourite red wine. These friends are Jewish, but don't keep kosher,so that makes it easy for us all. We have friends that are observant Jews, and I am very careful when I bring a hostess gift to them. It's fun to learn so much about different traditions!

I have my dehydrator full of beef jerky right now. Should be ready when we get home later on.
My son came over for lunch and the jerky was just going on...said he might be back tomorrow...just to visit...uh huh...

Hope everyone is surviving time change!

Today is a big football day here at my house! We are rooting for the BC Lions to kick some Calgary butt

At the risk of a serious case of schadenfreude,I was nearly gleeful when Saskatchewan got beat last week. I will be in Toronto next week to see the Grey Cup game, and if the Riders were in it,I might consider selling my tickets!

So on the menu for today's games...Chicken wings,veggies and dip,cheese plate,coconut prawns,dry garlic ribs....and beer and caesars!

Go Lions!

Yes,we were pretty disapointed, but life goes on! We are going to Grey Cup and looking forward to quite the party

What's in Texas? I must admit I haven't spent much time there,a couple days in Dallas and an overnight in Houston,so I'm no expert on that state. I've vacationed in the US a lot,and somehow not spent too much time in Texas or New Mexico. I have a friend in Corpus Christie that has invited us down for a visit,so maybe I should consider it.

I hear you Deb! The winter can get to me too. I used to enjoy it so much more, but I no longer ski or snowmobile, and that takes the fun out of it

I like being near the ocean so we often try to spend a couple months in either Mexico,San Diego or Hawaii. Mexico I love, but it's losing it's luster for me lately I've spent some time in Florida and it's nice, but so far for travel,I may as well go to Europe! Portugal and Spain are in the works for us early winter, although we have not booked anything yet.California is pulling me too,my favourite long term stay is La Quinta.Close enough to spend time in the LA area,SanFranciso,or SanDiego, and also close enough to spend time in Phoenix where we have several friends spending the winter.
Maybe after I get back from Toronto, and get through all the Christmas stuff,I will get serious about booking something!

Dh runs our business, but we have help so it frees us up to get away and I only work when I want to,so I'm quite flexible these days

Hopefully,December will be nice weather for all us Canucks
