A new job? That is exciting, and nerve wracking all at once! Good luck, hope you get it!

I am finishing up work, taking early retirement. I've been thinking about it for quite a while and dh has been hoping I would be done with work for the last 2 years. He's pretty happy,I on the other hand, will need to adjust

Does anyone here play pickle ball? There is a league starting in my neighbourhood next week. I might check it out. I play a lot of tennis, and take to most racquet sports,so it might be fun. We plan to be home for most of the fall,a week in Toronto and next week down to Spokane for a few days, but basically around until after Xmas. I will need to fill my time somehow. I bowl once a week, swim and work out at the gym. Also belong to a bridge club and a canasta group, but I need to keep moving this body! I find it more challenging to keep fit in the winter since I no longer ski. I still eat as much as I do in the more active months

That sounds like a great job!
I am 54,so a bit early to retire, and Dh will work another 5 years, but I hope to keep busy. We travel between 3-6 months every year, and my job was really getting in the way of that. The summer months I have lots to do. We get lots of out of town guests,I golf, play tennis, hike, etc. Mostly we are gone for the winter, but when we are around,I will have time on my hands. I play bridge and we have an indoor pool at our community activity center that's only a block away.My gym is down there too and they offer several classes a week,so I can keep fit. I've done some snowshoeing in the past, and enjoyed it,but usually when there is snow on the ground,I'm down south I paint a little and love to bake and entertain,so hopefully won't get too bored.

Pickle ball is like tennis, using a wiffle type ball and a paddle. Do you go south? It's big in Arizona and it's becoming popular here too.

Just came across this thread!
I am pretty new to this forum but not to low carb. I am always looking for people somewhat in the same area to swap tips on new products or stores that carry low carb treats!
I am from Barrie, Ontario which is about an hour north of Toronto.

Yep, we had a pretty good Thanksgiving day. I worked the weekend, but on Monday, we cooked a turkey and roasted a sweet potato. It was nice to spend the day together.

Ugh about moving - it's the packing and unpacking that really sucks. Hope you got all settled in and such!

Hey Deb!

Nah, it got eaten. We gave some to the hubs' parents, and I made turkey soup, we ate turkey for a few days, and then the rest got put in a freezer bag for later.

Loooove turkey. I really should eat it more often.

Ugh, not snow!!

I'm glad I'm in Southwestern Ontario - we won't see much of consequence for a little while yet.

...I hope!

Hey hobgoblin Canucks! We are hosting a wine tasting tonight(not a spooky theme!) and tomorrow night we are going out to a neighbourhood halloween party. Dh is Dracula and I am the Bride of Frankenstein. Not very original,I know, but we've had so much fun putting our costumes together!

I will buy a few full size chocolate bars to have on hand next week, just in case. We really don't get more than a half dozen kids or so,as we are in a gated community. I miss the days in our old neighbourhood where we would get well over one hundred.

What is everyone else up to this halloween?

After last nights party,I'm feeling a little groggy this morning We had such a good time. It was no surprise that the priciest bottle of wine won the night! We sampled 6 wines, from $12 to $35 and had lots of snacks to go with. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, last couple left at midnight, and dh and I did a quick clean up,but on the agenda for the morning is washing and putting away 60 wine glasses

Oh well, maybe I'll grab a nap this afternoon before getting ready for the halloween party. I will be so tired tomorrow...I just can't party like I used to!

Hope everyone has a safe and happy weekend!
