Thanks shoo

Thank for your quick reply.
No , my friend has her own house in Calgary, sorry iwas not clear oops!
I will tell her to join the golf course there, maybe that would be a good idea!

Our cabin is near Fairmont BC, and is not very big, so we mostly enter tain th neighbors.......I want to make it big in the future, but I am still skeptical for all the visits we will get......then I will have a "I told you so" DH

It really depends how much you enjoy entertaining. We only get out to the cabin 3-4 weekends a year, and always block off one weekend where we are by ourselves. We don't even tell anyone we are going out there, and if they ask,we are extremely vague Other than that one weekend,I like to have friends and family around. When I need a break,I go out in the kayak for a couple hours. When I get back,I'm refreshed and ready to socialize again!

Hope your friend finds a good group to hang out with. It must be lonely for her at times.

Whew,my luncheon is done and the dishwasher is doing the second load...I'm pooped. It went well,I had 19 guests, thanks goodness to whoever invented pot luck

I've been so busy with company and overnight guests,I'm more than ready for a couple days to recoup before the weekend. And by recoup,I mean,be very anti-social for a bit. A couple of appts., a little catch up at the office, and a few glasses of wine. That's it.

With only a few summer weekends left,I've decided to ditch my plans for a quiet weekend doing nothing. There will be time for that when the weather turns Canadian

So,dh and I are meeting friends at a local outside bar, that has good food and live music. A few drinks,a few dances, and a safe ride home...keeping summer going as long as I can

Hello .... all is well in Sunny Vernon Enjoying the beautiful weather. Visiting with friends and deck parties. Except I ate way too much salmon and shrimp last night

Had my biopsy and waiting for the results.

Shoo ~ Hope you had fun. We actually don't encourage out of town company to sleep at our house, I realize that sounds so bad and I love to entertain ~ we have lots of parties but I want everyone to go back to their own house or hotel when it is over. Where is your cabin?

Mel ~ Always wanted to check out that suicide race in Omak, glad that you enjoyed it.

Majomor ~ Joining a golf course is a great idea to meet people. I <3 volunteering and it is a great way to meet like minded people.

JennieBart ~ Do you have to work most weekends? However, during the summer it might be nice to have days off during the week when there are less people around?

Hello ~ Storm seems to have passed us by. Heard there has been many lightening strikes ... hope it doesn't cause any fires because the Okanagan is very dry.

Mel ~ Drink more wine and then it isn't so chilly

Hey Canucks! hope all is well as we head into the end of August...yikes!

Cindy, glad the storm passed us by too. The area I live in was evacuated 9 years ago because of the Okanagan MTN fire. Don't ever want to go through that again.

I have a wedding to go to in Calgary this weekend and then next weekend is the Armstrong fair. And summer is almost over

Have fun in Omak Mel! I am happy to be home for a few days, had a great trip to Calgary for a very posh wedding. It was beautiful, the bride looked better than a cover girl!

Lots of things to do this weekend,so I plan to rest up a bit before Friday hits

Hey Cindy!

Nope, not every weekend. The way my schedule runs, I work two, then am off two. It's not so bad - though I'll be working Labour Day weekend.

Ah well, it's not like I do much that weekend anyway! LOL

Fall is a wonderful time to get away camping! I love the cooler temps but lots of sunshine this time of year.

We are usually away for most of the winter, but this year,(other than a trip to Toronto in November)we are staying around until after Christmas. Then a month in La Quinta and in February we are going to southern Europe for 6 weeks. Spain,Portugal and a few days in Morroco.

I hope the fall and early part of the winter is nice here. I really don't like the cold weather anymore....old age!

Anyone else made there winter plans yet?

Oh my that sounds ambitious! Good for you I no longer run,the knees just won't take it anymore, but I keep busy playing tennis 2-3 times a week, golf once or twice, walk everyday and swim a couple times a week. The days I'm not too busy with tennis or golf,I go to the gym to lift weights. Love to keep as active as I can. We travel quite a bit,and I've found that staying active here at home, helps with excursions, hiking, snorkeling, etc. We hiked the Grand Canyon last year(south rim) and I was happy that my knees held out,no problems at all. We have been having terrific weather here in the Okanagan, and I'm hoping to keep playing tennis and golfing right through October.
