We had a spot fire close to us at the base of layer cake mountain. The bomber came in with retardant and got it under control very quickly. Some tense moments here as many of the neighbors were evacuated in 2003. It's going to be a scorcher maybe a nap! (I'm on vacation) |

I do. We have a gym at gallaghers and I go 3-4 times a week. I had a personal trainer for 6 months and that helped me get a good program going. I have ms so I have to modify my workout from time to time. I also golf and play tennis, hike, bike, swim, etc. I really believe our bodies were designed to move and have fun
What about you? |

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. Today is much cooler and much nicer for outdoor activities . We went for a hike this morning, then took a drive to naramata to visit a couple of wineries. A neighbor of mine has family that owns a winery so we stopped n and did a tasting. Of course purchased some of the ones we liked themost
![]() Then went to Hillside winery for a late lunch. So wonderful! We usually go to Lake Breeze for lunch when doing the naramata bench, but decided to try Hillside,as it's been years since we've been there. Si glad we did! So now, sitting on the deck, soon dh will be grilling some yummy looking rib eye, which means I'm in charge of veggies and salad. Going to stirfry mushrooms and asparagus and toss a quick salad. Then....nothing tonight. Just chill. I love summer weekends but they do tire me out ![]() |

I hope you have good weather for Sturgis(and the beach!) I am leaving for Calgary for a couple of days, once we get some business out of the way. We are attending a wedding anniversary for DH aunt and uncle on the weekend and have some business there on Monday. We will be back in Calgary in August for a wedding,so I'm hoping for good road conditions this summer.
Mel,I agree about the dogs and kids. We like to go to Sunoka Beach as there is a good amount of shade and if people are smart, they take advantage of it. I was at Saveon foods in the Mission yesterday, and someone tied their black lab outside in the full on sun. He barked non-stop until the owner finally came out and untied him and left. He was out there quite a while(at least 25 minutes),not sure why anyone would bring their dog out grocery shopping ![]() I need to go pick up some fresh cherries from Gorges Orchard for the folks in Calgary. They can't get enough! Do they grow cherries in Alberta? |

Back from Calgary, had a wonderful time! Now getting ready for a family wedding this weekend, turning into a busy summer
The weather was really nice where I was this weekend, until yesterday ![]() Cindy, how was Sturgis North? We noticed lots of bikes on the highway,so I'm thinking they were all going to or coming from Sturgis. Mel,it's always a treat to turn off the ac and open up! I had everything open during the night, and I slept so much better. |

Hello .... Sturgis is over and I'm back to work. Way to busy. Went to Magic Mike and I actually thought it was really fun. Great eye candy. Too much swearing but it was exactly what I expected.
Mel ~ Storm blew through the Sturgis site knocking down tents .... crazy. Shoo ~ Glad that you had a good time and there was also a biker party in Salmon Arm called The Summer Stomp. There weren't as many people at Sturgis as the expected. Love turning the AC off and opening the windows ![]() But the AC is back on today !! |

Hi ladies! Is everyone gearing up for another busy summer weekend? We've got out of town company staying with us for the next week, and they are coming in tomorrow,so lots to do.
We are taking them out to the family cabin for the weekend and will be back Monday night. Then a couple of days hanging around the Okanagan, visiting wineries, picking fruit, etc. They are not beach people so that limits us a little, but will find lots to do. We live on a golf course,so that's a good option. I always try to find activities for company that suits them, and it can be challenging ![]() What is everyone else up to this weekend? |

Whew! Is anyone else getting a bit tired of out of town company this summer? This last batch left this morning, while I was at tennis. I've only been home one weekend this summer, and I thought because of my schedule,I wouldn't see a lot of company....wrong! They come during the week
![]() In fairness, this last couple are really nice people, and they had to leave while I went to tennis this morning,so we shared goodbye over breakfast. Now I'm back home, sitting here wasting time, cause I'm tired. I have a feeling I need to get the bedding done in the guest room, cause I have a free weekend coming up which means I might get more overnight guests. Last night,we had 17 people for dinner and although it went really well and was lots of fun...I'm pooped. This Wednesday is my Ladies tennis club luncheon and it's at my house this month,so I really do have to get busy. About 20 women are coming..thank goodness everyone brings either an appie or dessert(and wine of course). I used to find entertaining out of town guests and large groups much easier. I get tired much easier these days ![]() |

Yes guest make me tired too!
Mind if I ask a question?
My good friend lives 1/2 in Calgary with me and 1/2 in Vancouver as her DH does dual jobs between the two cities. She has a hard time making friends as most work in her area. Her loft Apt/penthouse condo is in Burnaby, would you know of tennis clubs she could join that maybe affiliated with your club? That would be a great help? My cabin in BC is off the beaten path so we do not get loads of guests, but we do have to socialize allot with our neighbors! And that can be work sometimes for some of us who just want to veg! I |

I take it your friend doesn't work, but travels with her dh?Does he stay with you too? Our family cabin off the beaten path too,and last weekend took some out of town guests there. They really enjoyed it,but I found it a lot of work to pack meals, snacks, drinks, bedding, towels etc.for extra people. We do have a full size fridge there, but altogether there were 14 of us and had to supplement with coolers for 3 days. I'm thinking that after Wednesdays luncheon,I may take a couple days to veg at home, don't answer the phone or check my emails ![]() |
