HOLY MOLY!!! BLITZ VI has only 5 days left!!!

I would like to hear from our regular Blitzers in what way y'all benefitted from these Blitzes. Speaking for myself(which I do quite well), I would not even have been able to make it past the first day, April 1, 2010, a day I shall never forget. It is my hope that I get to meet some of you in the flesh during the next Blitz or 2. I will be away from work on Sept 30, and away from home. I shall ask Tony to begin BLITZ VII for us.Tony, please begin BLITZ VII, if u please. Thanks. I will take the time this evening to peruse past threads from this Blitz, to get some sort of feeling of things I need to improve on. My communication skills are not all they should be. I do not always respond to everyone's input, but be sure I read everything. If i feel i have nothing to contribute that would be helpful, i keep silent. So...Speak !!! Love & Profits: FLATFERENGHI

Just saw Dr. Bill Davis on one of the morning news programs talking about his book "Wheat Belly". Hope DH was paying attention to what he was saying.

Good morning everyone! I was down another lb this morning. Now only 3 more to go to be at my weight before I moved. Hopefully that will happen by this Sat.

So glad there will be another blitz. I actually want to do a whole one this time.

Ok, I'm back after several days off. I enjoyed it, but must say its nice to get back to work - I know, I'm a sick, sad person

Delayed start on Nutrisystem (henceforth referred to as NS) so today is the day!

Keep it mind it isn't lc so I hope I'm still welcome.....

I hope everyone is doing well.....

Must get to work - TTYL.

Marilee, one thing I love about our blitz is that we are all free to choose and change our eating plans at will and we will still be supported. I think of NS as being on a similar wave lengh with its low glycemic foods also tied in with isulin levels. On getting back to work, that is the purpose of a vacation - to come back refreshed and ready to dig in!

Artemis, great on another pound down. One more blitz and you will probably be at maintenance level!

Well tomorrow is my first weigh in of the week. Second will be Friday. Guess what I am doing right now - guzzeling water. lol

of course, Gibby.

Although i was not expecting NS. You can be on any plan that YOU feel will bring YOU PERMANENT weight loss. Any particular aspect of NS you find especially promising? I/we have been thoroughly saturated with their commercials, in addition to Jennie Craig, and WW. I wish u the best of good fortune with NS. Please stay with us for BLITZ VII, beginning Oct. 1. Congrats, Artemis, that another 3500 calories are history.

I hate small numbers. I am looking forward to u and Tony meeting. If I had a $$$windfall, I would not hesitate to come down there myself for a visit, during the winter. Of course $ is tight. But, fate has a funny way of manifesting itself. There is always hope. FF

ff, you are perfect, alright!...

artemis, congrats on another lb. lost...nice job climbing back on the horse...

abi, btw, we just implemented a new rule here - you ARE NOT allowed to change ANYTHING!...lol...okay, maybe your socks...

Of course we are here to support you in any way we can Marilee! It's all about finding what works for you. After all the weight I've lost over the years, I'm still trying to figure that out! For some people it's not about how many carbs they eat but rather what kind, so I'm sure NS will help. Good luck girl!

Abi, I am trying to get used to the "greasy" texture of the coconut oil as you mentioned. But I think it's because I have it in my head that things that are greasy or oily are unhealthy and I have avoided them as much as possible. But I know that this oil is a very healthy fat so I'm sure I'll get used to it...especially if it helps!

It appeals to me because of portion control, balance, low-glycemic carbs, and the ability to actually have a few carbs. I'm hoping that will help control the carb binges I get. This plan has weekends "off" so you can eat real food, sensibly, of course. They even give you a toll free number that connects you to a real nutritionist at NS to ask for help in what to choose on those days to stay on plan. Of course, you can ask other things as well.

I know I didn't have to ask the question, Tony....you all are my support and even if you said "no" you wouldn't get rid of me!!!!!

Oh boy, I went on the Mrs Field's cookie diet. I lost a chunk of weight before we flew to San Francisco for a business conference in the 80's. I had been on the "Rice Diet" for weeks. The first thing we did was to stop at a Mrs. Fields at Embarcadaro Sguare. That's all she wrote.

i did NS back in 1990.

I loved their food. After a couple of months, I was eating a whole week's worth in one day. It was time to move on. It has changed since then. It is much less expensive. I know you will do fine. FF

Down 1/2 pound today by the skin of my teeth. Hoping by Friday to be down the rest of the pound. Need to get back to drinking more water. I find it hard to drink water in the morning. I'd much rather have coffee and then after noon it just doesn't seem like enough time before I need to quit it so I'm not up all night. Will try to get at least a couple of cups in this morning. Had canned salmon with a little mayo, brocolli and dip yesterday.

Hope everyone has a good day. Will check in later!

lately, getting in enough plain water has been a challenge as well.

But, i am doing my best. Right now, i have water, Fresca, and a large coffee (2/3 decaf)at my work station. I have my diet choc soda in the freezer. I expect to get my first 20 oz of H2O down before my 10:15a.m. break. i hope to get my 2nd 20 oz of H2O down by 1:00pm lunch, and my 3rd before quitting time at 4:30pm. Let us hope reality matches expectations. I believe my emphasis for BLITZ VII will be focused on portion control & exercise, neither of which feel natural at this juncture. FF

Woo hoo! Couldn't wait to post this morning! Down another 3 lbs! So back to the weight I was before the move. Now I can start on a clean slate for October and this new blitz. I'm super pumped. My legs are feeling better too. Yesterday I just walked a mile and then did a ton of stretching. Unfortunately, I will not be able to start my training for this week until tomorrow but I hope to at least get in another mile or two to keep my legs from stiffening up.
Regarding the water, I find that I experience the exact opposite. If I drink a ton of it in the morning then I want it the rest of the day. If I don't drink much and wait until the afternoon it's more difficult to drink. My body has to have it though so I know if I don't I'll suffer consequences. Maybe try a reward system like if I drink a half gallon or a gallon, then I can have another drink that I do like? Just an idea...good luck with that other half pound Abi!

for some reason, i have no trouble downing a 12-oz. glass of water without taking a break...maybe my stomach capacity has expanded over the years, but i drink a big glass several times a day and then sip in between...my problem is that i forget to try to drink and can go long stretches without doing it...

ns sounds like a sensible approach to me...anything you can live with that keeps your calorie intake below your calorie maintenance level will result in losing weight, so it is all about finding a plan you can stick with long enough to lose...then when you get tired of that one, you can find another...

i think all of us should be aware of how many calories we need to eat to maintain our current weight...for me, it's about 2200, so if i can keep my intake down to 1700 a day, i will lose 1 lb. per week...again, the simple math of 500x7=3500=1 lb....of course, upping exercise will accelerate that...

had leftover everything last night - was pretty hungry but kept to the plan - i'm planning on a good day today as well...

only a few more days kids!!!

Congratulations Artemis! That's awesome!

Abi-1/2 pound is great! I know how hard it is to lose and you did it!!!!!! I'm sure more will come off before you know it. I was able to satisfy my craving for cookies with my NS desert last night - they were yummy!

I'm not a good water drinker. I forget to drink - I know that sounds weird, but I get busy and forget.

Finished the first day of NS and am down a pound. I'm getting very tired of losing the same weight over and over again. New focus - new drive!

I'm still on track and been exercising and eating well, my weight loss has slowed down (haven't lost anything in the last 6 days) but I'm at a weight that I've gotten a little stuck at in the past...If I stay strong and on plan I know it will move again soon.

I haven't been drinking for just over 2 weeks now and plan to only indulge on a few special occassions in the next few months. My body just seems to recognize alchohol as a carb and I'm very sensitive to carbs. I also am considering not drinking coffee in the mornings as it can raise your insulin levels and drain your adrenale system...that one will be hard for me but I'm prepared to do anything to lose the weight at this point.

Everyone sounds like they're doing well. I will try to post more often. Alot of times I don't know what to say...but I do read everyones posts and am cheering you on!

Vicki, I just made the coconut oil mayo and it is definately a good substitute for me. This was on the recipe link I gave to Artemis the other day with a couple of changes. I didn't have sea salt so used regular salt, I used a cup of coconut oil that I nuked for 20 seconds to melt it, and all I had was pub style dijon mustard.

1 whole egg
2 egg yolks
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon sea salt or Celtic salt
1/4 teaspoon white pepper (I didn't have white so I used regular pepper)
1 cup Virgin Coconut Oil (melted if solid)
1. Put the eggs, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, salt, and pepper into a food processor or blender: Then with the processor or blender running on low speed, start adding your oil very slowly. Start out with drops and then work up to about a 1/16-inch stream. It should take about two minutes to add the oil.
2. Continue blending until there is no free standing oil.

I am eating eggs salad with it now and no icky taste. Rather mild but if you taste it off the spoon it is similar to regular mayo. I use the coconut oil that does not have the coconut taste.

Artemis, that is wonderful about the 3 pounds!!!!

Jenny, you are making some big sacrifices to lose that weight. It will certainly be worth it!

Marilee, day one and a pound down already! Yea!

FF and Tony, I have drank about 5 cups of water so far. I find it hard to keep track so am just refilling my cup whenever I finish one and stare at it for awhile before I start drinking again. If I can just keep having a cup in front of me no matter where I am at I think I wll certainly improve.

enjoying my AUGUSTAN lc cheesecake.

it is a larger slice than the 1/8 of a 7" cake. it is, in fact, 1/6 of a 7" cake. Ergo, i count it as 6 gr. I never take this for granted. Anyone coming to NYC better allow me to buy them a portion. Knowing how good it is, i can safely say that if i was driving here from California just for the cheesecake, and then driving right back to California...it would be worth the trip. FF

jenny, go back and read my posts and you'll see i have no idea of what to say - ever - but i babble anyway...the bar is very low for posting in our little corner of the world...sometimes i am talking to myself and it helps to write it down and these nice people tolerate me...the more you post, the more it helps everyone...i'm proud of you for sticking with your plan and not drinking - that's huge!...

marilee, wow!...1 lb. already???...that's great, girl!...

abi, thanks for the recipe and sounds like a good plan on the water...

ate a peach for breakfast, grilled chicken for lunch and roast chicken and broccoli for dinner...tomorrow i spend the day in ri and will try to eat light...
