that is a plan and a half, Tony.

I am sure u will see substantial results. #9 is always difficult for me to do when I am by myself (which is most of the time-not always by choice). So, I allow 30 minutes after I have eaten to see if i am really (biologically)hungry, or not. If so...I allow myself a little more. Dividing my dinner into parts a & b, really helps, as well. Sometimes,(rarely actually) I fall asleep before i get to part b. Yesterday, a wicked thought crept in unexpectedly. So I called the diner to order an endulgence(which i will not describe). When the man picked up the phone, i snapped back to reality, and ordered 3 bacon cheeseburgers. Natch, i used lc ketchup. My total net carbs for the day were 27. It was an entire hour at least between the thought and the reaction. So glad I did not lose that round. FF

thanks guys!...

abi, believe me when i say you are an inspiration to me as well!...

ff, i am so proud of you for making the decision not to cave in and order something "wicked" from the diner!...lol...

i have been far too lackadaisical for far too long, and as a result, have gained - good thing i got a new scale or i may have gained 5 more lbs. before i finally panicked...lol...when i thought i was at 211, it was only 9 lbs. above my 20-year low, so i was not that concerned (or motivated)...when i saw 219-221 the past couple of days, it was a serious wake-up call for me!...

although my plan might seem daunting, i am actually happy to have the goals, expectations and structure...i have learned that i need them - i wish i didn't but i do...i need to be a big boy now in order to become a smaller boy! :-)

i believe sept 2011 WILL BE the most SUCCESSFUL MONTH

since these Blitzes were begun back on 4/1/10. when i just think what would have occurred if i DID NOT bypass that cofee truck. I would be reading these posts on the far banks of the RIVER STYX. I was going to have the same thing for breakfast as i am now having for lunch. But, i was (&quite happily)not hungry. Except for coffee, and diet soda, i had nothing. thank the gods for being busy. No time to think of food. So, I am having my nova scotia lox special which i have described in past posts, AND

fat finger syndrome...again.

AND a nice green salad with some cuke, 1 oz cole slaw (unfortunately not TROLLslaw), and a little garnishing of shredded American cheese. To which I added 1/2 oz crushed pecans, and 1 packet mayo. Total net carbs for this meal is not greater than 10. Probably a gram or so less, but 10 is the # of record. Tonight i am making a stirfry with either steak or pork (naybe 1/2 portion of each) Oddly, i have not brought Dreamfields back into play as yet...but I WILL. FF

Well guys just finished my first workout of week 2. Wow! My legs feel like jello! While that is probably the idea, right now it left me feeling like I don't know if I'll be able to make it through. But I keep telling myself that this upcoming February is my 8th year anniversary of my original weight loss. I want to be back down to my goal weight and/or running easily so I just gotta do this!
Tony, I think it is great to make yourself a plan. Sometimes a set back is all you need to re-evaluate things.

vicki, feel free to use whatever you think might work for you...i shared the details in case any of it might help anyone else...

artemis, you are going through the toughest part right now...hang in there and it WILL get easier...

well, it's after 9 p.m. and the first day of "operation 1derland" is under my belt!...it feels good...i will have my first official weigh-in in the morning and i will start moving down from there - or else!...

i was hungry tonight - my wife made pasta and meatballs and sausage in a tomato sauce...i usually cook but every once in awhile she feels like making something, so tonight was that night...i completely avoided the pasta and i had a couple of meatballs that only had a sprinkle of breadcrumbs in them and a nice turkey sausage...

then, just before curfew, i had three slices of apple with a little peanut butter...very satisfying...the slow-eating and chewing really makes a difference...it's amazing how much of feeling satiated comes down to how long you have the food sitting in front of you and instead of inhaling it without tasting it, today i really enjoyed every mouthful...

looking forward to tomorrow already!

if u are counting your bites...use the tried and true....

1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi etc. You will probably turn it to liquid by the time u get to 10 Mississippi. I made the free range shell steak. It was boneless. I did it the exact same way as I do all my steaks that are no greater than 1" thick. with part a, i sauted some sliced portobello mushrooms. with part 2, i had part 2 of yesterday's salad. i thought i detected just a whisper of gaminess. But it could be my imagination. I would buy it again, IF the price is right. I bought a bunch of celery a few days ago. Each stalk is like a giant Sequoia. I think ther farmer fertilized his earth with Viagra. When I bit into the celery the crunch woke up the Politburo in Beijing. FF

ff, are you sure it wasn't cialis?...

my body is adjusting to my not eating late and it's sending me a hunger signal although i should not be hungry...just have to ignore it and wait til morning...i should be sleeping, but i'm watching the yankee game - they are playing on the west coast so they didn't start until 10:10...

so happy i am on this new plan!

FF, I am about to wake the house up by laughing out loud at 4:15am! Fun way to start the day. Hope someone makes you laugh today too!

Tony, great first day on your plan. Hope when you jump on the scales this morning those 8 pounds will be gone and it will say it was just playing a cruel joke on you. Apple slices with peanut butter sounds so good.

Vicki, Tony does have some great points doesn't he. I am so bad to wolf down my food or eat while I'm reading or on the computer. The feeling of being full does not hit me because I am not even aware that I have eaten. Need to do the slow chewing and pay attention to what I am doing.

Artemis, legs feeling like jello. That brings back memories. I was a cheerleader back in high school and remember that exact feeling after the first practice of the season and having to walk up and down the stairs at school. Just know you will be back down in no time to your original loss.

Marilee, how's it going for you this week?

Yesterday I was craving some mayo. I try not to eat much of it because I am concerned with the soy oil in it being high in omega 6 and being inflammatory. But it won out yesterday and I had chicken salad and egg salad. Also had brocolli with dip and greek yogurt with a handful of frozen blueberries. Coffee with cream and coconut oil. Need to find a homemade mayo recipe that I really like.

Taking Mom to lab at 7. She goes Friday for her quarterly check up.

Have a great day all!

Well I was down a pound this morning! My original goal was 30 lbs during this c25k training but I'll take what I can get. My WOE has become low carb my way. Some days I eat more carbs than others but in general I'm staying away from starches and high carb foods. If I really feel I need them for running I'll eat a bit of fruit or something whole grain and high in fiber so that it won't cause me to dump insulin.

good for us all!!!

we all have low carb agendas, and following them. That is what the BLITZES are all about. I am eating yesterday's tilapia for breakfast. COLD. Much more flavorful than hot. Some foods work for me that way, such as meatloaf, and my lox, onion, green pepper in scrambled eggs concoction. i always make enough for one or 2 times extra. Tonight are primary elections in my area. But before i do that, i am gonna do a walk. I think the b12 is started to kick in. i take 1 (1,500 mcg)at each meal along with the other vita-nutrients. When i start the next bottle, i think i can lower it to twice a day, now that i am becoming saturated. The third bottle, just once a day. it will last longer too. During the weekend of 9/23/11, i will attempt the crabcake recipe in DANDR. Except, i will use pulverized pork rinds instead of lc bread crumbs. i can use those 3.5 gr per portion for something else. I am sure they will be good. I might even add a splash of Frank's hot sauce in the mix for an extra kick. FF

abi, your menu always seems so nutritious - i bet you feel pretty well, don't you?...

artemis, congrats on the pound!...it is amazing how we really do have control of these things, isn't it?...

ff, i'm with you on eating certain foods cold - it's almost like a whole different meal when you eat it hot one day and cold the next...i like the b-12 idea - i remember what a huge difference it made for my grandfather in boosting his stamina when he would receive a b-12 injection when he was ill...do you find it has that affect on you?...

well, day 2 of "operation 1derland" is here and of course my first official bi-weekly weigh-in...i must have over-salted before i started this because i experienced a woosh of fluid that led to a 3.8 lb. drop in one day!...i weighed in at 217.2 this morning which will create a challenge as i now have to get to at least 217 by friday in order to avoid further restrictions...i drank about 1 1/2 gallons of water yesterday - it is so weird how drinking water helps you lose water-weight!...i don't really understand it, to be honest...

this really is a devious little plan i have developed for myself...it works perfectly with my psychology - short, attainable goals, no restrictions but to earn that freedom requires discipline...i'm proud of myself for coming up with this wacko plan!...

so far today:
b: a few salad veggies and approx 2 oz. of roast chicken (skin removed)

Abi, I have made my own mayo too from olive oil, but it just doesn't have the same texture or flavor as the soybean oil mayos. I hope you find one you like and share it.

Artemis, congrats on the wt loss. Don't push too hard with your training, but you are doing great.

well, lunch was a small mcintosh apple, and i have been drinking soooo much water i am not hungry at all right now...read a few articles today on why drinking a lot of water is so important in weight loss...i learned a lot you'd think i'd know by now!...

i'm gonna lose at least .2 lbs. by friday and NOT further restrict myself...it is amazing to me how much help the curfew is - there's just no option to eat anything after 9 - requires no willpower...thank goodness!

Wow! What a day! I spent like 5 hours on the phone trying to change all of my accounts before the move. Too many automated voice systems and putting me on hold. I just did a 1 mile walk today...trying to keep it light for my training day tomorrow but still want to keep my muscles from being stiff.

I think I will not use the keto stix anymore... they only turn a shade of pink between nothing and the first reading. But all I had today was eggs for breakfast and then chicken for lunch. So definitely should be in ketosis. Somewhere I read that if you drink a ton of water like I do then it dilutes them down a bit?

Speaking of which, rock on Tony for increasing your water intake! You all know how much of an advocate I am for the water consumption. It just does so much for the body aside from the help with weight loss. There is actually a thread somewhere on here where people were saying that drinking too much water makes you gain weight. The only people that would hold true for are those experiencing kidney failure! Anyways sorry for the rant

thanks, artemis...luckily, i love water - it is basically all i ever drink anyway, so i am not finding the increase difficult at all...i've been home for an hour and just drank another 36 ounces...i was peeing every hour yesterday but today it was less frequent...i was reading where that happens for the first few days as your body releases the water it has been storing...we'll see... :-)

in addition to kidney failure, you will gain weight from drinking water if you eat too much salt - then you will retain it...

dinner: i had a large salad with tuna and avoided the leftover pasta and meatballs everyone else was eating...made me feel good!

i am glad drinking water helps someone's appetite.

not mine. i drink water because i like water, and because we are supposed to drink water. but, controlling my hunger? not me. There is some comfort in having a mug or a can or a bottle of something to put to my face, instead of solid food. But, i will stick with keeping busy. FF

ff, i'm sure it doesn't work for everyone, but i've been trying to drink 12-20 oz. of water about 20 minutes before each meal and another 12 oz. or so as i'm eating and it seems to help me feel fuller...i do get hungry again later, but anything to help relieve my appetite is welcome...

tonight i was hungry about 15 minutes before curfew so i heated up two pork ribs and that took the edge off...fell asleep and woke up at midnight and am watching the rest of the yankee game...not feeling hungry now, thank goodness...

2 days of operation 1derland in the books!...

Tony, knock on wood, I do feel good most of the time. I have had afew injuries from lifting Mom, in my hand and my upper arm, but none at the moment. So I am grateful for that. Happy about your woosh yesterday at weigh in and hope you lose at least that .2 by Friday.

Vicki, I found a flaxseed oil recipe for mayo but haven't tried it yet. That oil is so expensive and I sure would hate to ruin it. Will let you know when I make it how it tastes.

Artemis, do you have a whole apartment full of furniture you have to move or mainly clothes ect. that you will carry in your car to Nashville?

FF, the crabcake recipe sounds delicious. Using the pork rinds should work well.

Hey Marilee, how are you doing?

Yesterday I did some stretching exercises sort of. I taped off a tile pattern in the plywood floor of our mudroom and stained the squares very lightly with gray stain. I like the looks so may build on that with more stain and then stain the taped lines. Anyway, I had to do that project pretty quickly because my free time was up. I felt like I had gotten a pretty good workout.

Had egg salad yesterday, greek yogurt with a handful of frozen blueberries, and brocolli with dip. Coffee with cream and coconut oil. Water, but not enough.

Have a good day all. Will check in later.

abi, i love your menus and could eat with you every day! :-) didn't know you had such a creative flair for decorating - i'm trying to picture what your floor looks like...lol...

speaking of nashville - i will be there next week to write and visit my daughter...she just got herself a puppy from a shelter - an australian shepherd mix - that should be entertaining...i tried to talk her out of getting a dog until she got settled in her new life and made sure she wanted that much of a long-term commitment, but she is single-minded, so now i have what she calls a new "granddaughter"...and now that she's done it, i am being supportive...i told her it doesn't get my couch!...i will stay with her on tuesday and friday and in a hotel on wed and thu as i use the hotel suite to co-write...

i got a terrible night's sleep...got up to use the bathroom at least three times and i'm tired this morning...it's not gonna deter me, but i'm hoping it is just the result of more stored water being lost and will subside in a few days...i also may stop drinking a little earlier tonight... :-)

there is one cycle even i cannot break....

the drinking/bathroom cycle. when i am thirsty, I drink. when I have to void, i void. I am not even gonna think about making changes there. Well, I took my gym clothes with me to work. At the last minute, i noticed my phone does not work. So,no gym.Aafter work it is off to the A T&T store. it is a 3 second operation, but this Troll is incapable of doing it. If it is not raining, i can walk home from there. Last evening I did quite a power walk for over a mile. the next segment was not quite as fast. Alltogether it was a 45 minute trip. down 15 minutes from a year ago at this time. My shirt contained a whole lake full of sweat. I did no cooking last night, nor do I expect to do any tonight or the night after, or Friday for that matter.(I will be home too late. I may have to toss the pork chops, as the freezer never froze them. However, tomorrow, the weather is to get more autumn like. So i have hopes that the fridge will start working better. I had 2 chinese veg dishes, 1/2 of which i had to toss because of the carrots and corn, and a large order of ribs(10 pieces). That is okay, cause i had very little protein before that. At lunch I had 1/2 cup tuna & 1/2 oz nuts. Afternoon break was 1 wedge Laughing Cow garlic/herb cheese, and 1 oz cream cheese. My total net grams for yesterday was between 25 & 30. I will say 27. I want 30 to be the limit. FF

Scale was the same this morning. Off to my training then I have a very hectic day ahead. I'm scrambling to tie up the loose ends.
Abi, I have a few pieces of furniture but I got rid of most of it so that I can buy new when I get there

with all that water, how do y'all feel at high tide?

I will make some extra effort to get some more plain water in. i have lately been drinking everything BUT (not alcoholic though). My phone was not working this a.m. Now it IS. I did not do anything to it, or with it. I will never understand HEWMON technology. FF

ff, i am feeling a bit more of a pull toward the moon, if that tells ya anything :-)

the scale read 216.8 this morning, so that is another .4lb. drop - must still be shedding water...but the total has been 4.2 lbs. down in 2 days so i'm happy about that, and trying not to think about the fact that the next 15 lbs. i lose, i will be losing for the second time this year!!!...it's gotta be done!...

yesterday, when i was done reading about all the health benefits of increasing my water consumption, i was more than happy with the trade-off of increased trips to the bathroom...ask me in a few days if i still feel that way!...lol...

so far today:
b: 10 black olives and one egg white
l: probably a banana
s: 1/2 apple
d: ? - depends on whether we go to the game or not - if not, i might grill some chicken breasts and eat that with salad

Vicki, this flaxseed mayo was just ok. I did a taste test with tuna - regular on one bite and the flaxseed on the other. Not very close but not icky like the olive oil one. After I mixed the flaxseed mayo with the the 6 oz can of light tuna I added about a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar and that more to my liking. At least I won't have to throw it out. Will let you know if I ever hit the nail on the head.

i hope everyone is sitting down...and have a tissue handy

I had to eat my lox sandwich w/o the Laughing Cow wedge of garlic/herb cheese. It was just not the same. I may have to throw myself under a bus on the way to the gym. (at least i will have a good excuse for not going). i have some more in the freezer at home. So i will have to restrain my impulses if i want to eat LCGH again. FF
