internet is back on!...

ff, that sounds like a very responsible buffet menu, especially considering all the "bad", delicious stuff you avoided...my condolences to the turkey...

abi, the country club must stay open for at least a couple more months, right?...great menu yesterday, btw...

had a good day:
b: stir-fry
l: skipped
d: italian restaurant - veal and eggplant parm - no pasta (only ate half the order)
s: craved and ate 1/2 of a pb&j sandwich on whole wheat (it was delicious!)

Tony, glad your internet is back on. The chef/manager told me yesterday that probably the last Sunday they will serve breakfast will be Oct. 30th so 8 more Sundays and then we will have to find another spot. Not much to choose from in Brattleboro. I can imagine craving a peanut butter and jelly sandwich but not on whole wheat. It would have to white bread to taste right. Probably wonder bread - does that date me? lol

FF, thanks for posting your plates at the casino. Everything sounded good except the egg on the hamburger. Maybe separate but the picture in my head is not pretty.

Had a big hamburger, brocolli and cauliflower with dip, greek yogurt with frozen blueberries yesterday. Going to try to drink more water today like artemis does.

Have a great Labor Day everybody!

abi, if wonderbread dates you, i'm dated too...don't they still make wonderbread?...

thinking about going to the hopkinton fair today and if i do, it will be a planned cheat, cuz there's no way i go without eating fair french fries sprayed in vinegar and sprinkled with a bit of salt...i just won't overdo it like i used to...

happy to report, the other half of my veal and eggplant parm is still in the fridge...

happy labor day!!!

Tony, hope the weather is better at the fair than in our town. It has rained most of the morning. When I was in junior high we used to live in Barre, Vt. They had a french fry wagon always parked on Main Street that made fresh cut fries probably cooked in lard ( the best way) and they would have a shaker bottle of white vinegar on the condiment counter. Used to just love them. Once we moved away we got out of the habit of the vinegar. But it sure brings back memories hearing that it is still done.

artemis, I want you to know I am on glass number 8 of the 16 glasses of water I will need to drink if I want to drink a gallon today. I don't know, we shall see if I can pull it off. How is your appetite doing today?

Vicki and Marilee, what are you both doing on your holiday?

Abi, I heard about HIIT on these boards and on Dr. Mercola's website the Peak 8. Nothing special for the holiday is planned. So far, I helped DF clean and organize a closet and kitchen. Resting this afternoon and maybe KB workout that he purchased.

I am known to throw stuff together and come up with a casserole, soup or something else. Usually I don't make the same thing twice. DF is one that buys ingredients for a recipe and if all of it isn't used it goes to waste (not me usually). So, as I was cleaning out his refrig, there was a partially used onion, pizza sauce. a few peppperoni and mozz. cheese. I brought over fresh green beans. I cooked the green beans, threw in the rest of the above, added garlic powder (I would use fresh if we were at my house) and pizza seasoning and heated up in mwave then topped with Parm cheese. YUMMY.

I said I would probably make it again. Then he asked me "do you need to write down the recipe so you remember how to make it next time?" LOL. Nah, I think I can figure it out.

hasn't rained here yet but i think it will probably rain this afternoon in hopkinton, and since it is an hour's drive, we will probably skip it...no fair, no fries!...

it's after 2 p.m. and i have not eaten a thing yet...i know that's not good, but i was in the pool and cleaning it and swimming, etc., and i'm just not hungry yet...eating late last night may have messed me up a bit...

no, Tony... if u are gonna do pb&j right...

it must be on Levy's real Jewish rye WITH caraway seeds. add some cottage cheese and a slice of tangy, but not too strong hard cheese as well. the flavors must be properly balanced.Trust the Troll! He did not guess this way binging on bibb lettuce.Decadence comes with a price. FF

Way to go Abi on drinking the water! My appetite has still left the building. My stomach just feels weird...maybe just stress. I don't think I'll weigh for a little while. My body is doing weird things because of my weird eating patterns. So until I get back on a more normal regimen, I'll just stay off the scale.

I'm thinking about trying the "Couch to 5K" again...I'm a walker, not a runner for multiple reasons (mostly health related) but it is a good program.

Artemis, I only got to 10 cups of water but that was a whole lot better than I have been doing. Sorry you are still not feeling all that great. Maybe trying the couch to 5K will perk you up some getting all the circulation moving and your appetite will get back to normal.

Vicki, your cassserole sounds good and funny about DF asking you if you will remember the recipe. Nice of you to help him clean and organize on your holiday. If you have any energy left come over to my place. I have alot of stuff that could be organized. lol

FF, that sandwich sounds like a Dagwood sandwich. Never would have thought to put cheese with pb&j. Still don't want to think about it. lol

I had some pizza toppings yesterday as DH cooked a frozen pizza for dinner, Also had yogurt with frozen blueberries and brocolli and cauliflower with dip.

Will check in later! Have a great tuesday everyone. Lots of rain here again today and warnings of flash flooding.

So I decided that I'm definitely doing the Couch to 5K. I've walked in a lot of 5K races but I've never ran one which has always been a personal goal of mine but I've always let health issues get in the way. So, I figure since this is a 9 week program, I should be able to run a 5K by my birthday in December. I can't think of a better present for myself! Plus it'll be a good way to channel stress. And if I can train my body to run 3 miles and I'm still "overweight" then that BMI chart can just bite me

Well, starting maintenance and it looks like my body settled in at 292.6. I was hoping to hit the 80's, but better luck next time!

left a little tuna salad over from the lunch i just finished.

i could have it at the afternoon break, or tomorrow morning. But, I rarely leave over. Another in-road in portion control. My system is still so used to button-busting satiety. Another feeding comes in just a few hours. Why do I panic at the last mouthful of a meal? Well, i better put this back in the fridge, before i get a surge of apostasy. FF

ff, i NEVER would have thought of that combination for a sandwich, but the next time i am craving a pb&j, i will try your recipe (although i usually do not have rye bread in the house...hmmmm)...good for you for saving some of your lunch for later...that's what i did with the veal and eggplant parm on sunday...in the past, i would have eaten every bite and felt uncomfortably full for a couple of hours, but now i have no problem setting it aside...actually, i still have not eaten it, and may have to do so tonight to avoid losing it!...

artemis, sorry to hear you still don't feel "right"...keep drinking water and eat small nutritious snacks and you'll be okay...so proud of you for doing the couch to 5k thing...i'm lucky if i can do the couch to fridge thing with this sore hip of mine :-)

marilee, nice job getting down to 292.6...that is AWESOME!!!...enjoy your maintenance phase!...

abi, your menus are so good, you must be dropping some weight...and congrats on the water...i'm gonna start some kind of increased water regimen today or tomorrow...

i don't know why, but my appetite is m.i.a. too...i ate some calzone filling last night - some steak, mushroom and onions and cheese - not much, but that was it all day...woke up today and forced down a hb egg and just ate 5 almonds, but that's it too...don't even want to think about dinner...

still feel fat and bloated - don't know why...just gonna drink some water and follow the advice i just gave artemis...lol...

since i'm not really hungry, i'm gonna take advantage of that fact...i am not desiring anything, so it's gonna be easier to just plan really good food choices...think i will bake some haddock tonight - if it looks good at the market...

i was thinking a couple of days ago about how we try to be careful about what we eat daily, and how dependent that is on what we buy when we go to the store...the best way to insure good eating is through defensive shopping and keeping the bad stuff out of the house...

so the shopping trip is every bit as important as anything else in this battle as it determines what will be available to pull out of the fridge to eat every day...i'm looking at my shopping trip today a bit differently, as a result!

u are really making good choices, Tony

i just had another breakthrough. i had to fill up on diet sodas (FAYGO CHOCOLATE). Bought 8 of them. I by-passed the java, cause i wanted to get a laundry done before midnight. But, I have had nothing since lunch. So i got 1/4 lb of Hebrew Salami. Yes, I have salami in the house, but i was curious to see if they would slice it thick, if i said thick....eh. Room for improvement. I stuffed it into 1/2 a lc carb pita with mustard. That will hold me until dinner. The curfew served me well, while I needed it. Now I prefer to postpone dinner until AFTER the original curfew time, so that I will still be satisfied by bed-time. Back to the salami. I originally began with no less than 1 lb. Then I managed to drop to 8 oz. So, now, I am learning to be satisfied with the 1/4 lb. But, I am going no lower. Tonight I am having a chef salad. I will have to add my own celery. I sprinkle it with some chopped nuts (about 1/2 oz UNSALTED)& lc dressing. We learn by doing!!! FF

Well got my first C25K workout in this morning. Since it's designed for 3 days a week, I will do Tues, Thurs, and Sat training. On the in between days, I think I'll just do light weight training and walking.

Water total for today is one gallon so far, hoping to get another half gallon in before bed.

thanks, ff - i'm trying!...sounds like you have a good plan for tonight...i am off the curfew for now too, but i will probably need it again in the future...like you, my schedule is a bit upside-down right now...

i did bake the fish, but it was sole, not haddock - delicious, light, fluffy and fresh - not fishy at all...topped it with shrimp, butter and just a few ritz cracker crumbs and a ginger-rosemary seasoning...so good!...

artemis, when you drink so much water, do you have to wake up to pee in the middle of the night, or is that a malady reserved for middle-aged men like me?...lol...

hope everyone is having a great day!

I agree Tony. I am less likely to eat inappropriate foods if they aren't in the house. Unfortunately, I can usually find a way to make an appropriate food inappropriate. If that makes any sense whatsoever.

Oh, I finally got the results of my lab work, the only value off is the Total Cholesterol which was 206. Triglycerides, LDL, HDL and fasting blood sugar were all within normal range. Not too shabby.

Artimis, KUTGW on moving. I may have missed it, but when is the 5K?

Vicki, great news on the lab work. And I have read that the total cholesterol number doesn't mean anything as long as your LDL is the large fluffy kind.

Amazing Tony that you had no appetite yesterday. I never have that happen to me unfortunately. I haven't lost any weight doing the Fast Five, only eating during a 5 hour window because I still have coffee with cream and some coconut oil in it outside the window. This makes the plan not work. But I love my coffee with cream and I am maintaining at moment so can't get the enthusiasm up to cut that out.

FF, now pepperoni with mustard does sound like a delicious sandwich to me. You didn't put any pb&j in it did you?

Marilee, you are sooo close to the 80's, know it will happen this time around!

artemis, only managed 9 cups of water yesterday. I do have to stop the drinking by 5 or 6 or like Tony says, I would be up all night every hour on the hour. Will try to squeeze in a couple more cups today. Anxious to read how the c25k works out for you.

Have a great day all. It is pouring out right now at 4:30am.

it was actually salami. Hebrew national does not make pepperoni.

However, adding pb & j to that is not a bad idea (lol). I might as well go all the way and add liver and onions to the mix. Well, i divided my chef salad into 2 parts. An hour or so after part 2, i went into the fridge to have what i thought was the last 1/2 lc pita bread. There were 3 of them. Not anymore!!! No real damage done in the numbers. i did no more than 30 net grams yesterday, and my critter consumption was lower than the immediate past (i.e. pre-OWL). This sort of thing is to be expected from time to time. I did NOT touch the lc bread (which i had forgotten to take to work yesterday...but it is here now...and quite safe). This is the risk i run by leaving it in the house. If it was a whole package, i would have devoured all 42 net grams of it. I hope i can make it to the gym tonight. Now that school is back on, it is going to be a miserable 2 hr trip to the gym. It is a $20.00 trip by car service. I certainly cannot do that on a regular basis. And now, i am gonna enjoy my iced coffee. Talk to y'all later. FF

Tony and Abi, good work on the water! I actually like getting up in the middle of the night because that usually means that I haven't had too much salt that day.

Vicki, I'm still looking for which 5K I want to sign up for. I am hoping to do one in late November/early december for my birthday. The C25K is a 9 week program so that'll allow me a few weeks to practice. It was hard for me to get up this morning being so sore, but I know it'll get better (actually I'm just hoping!).

vicki, awesome news on the lab work...that's what this is really all about - better health...good for you!

abi, wow, i can't believe a cup of coffee messes up the whole plan!...hmmm...don't think i'd lose either...lol...

ff, good luck getting to the gym...i am certain it has helped you get to the 2s...your commitment to working out inspires me to get off my butt every other day and do my exercises!...

was a little more hungry this morning and had some leftover fish for breakfast...it's 12:40 and that's been it so far...thinking about making a beef stew tonight - it is kind of cold and rainy and would warm things up...i just make it with a LOT of stew meat (bought two packages of steak tips which i will cut up) and only eat a couple of potatoes or carrots...

I forgot to post my eats for yesterday earlier. I did a pot roast in the crock pot so had some meat and one small carrot, a large bowl of ground beef, greek yogurt with frozen blueberries and brocolli and cauliflower with dip. I probably had at least 3 cups of coffee yesterday with heavy cream all outside my eating time - hense the no loss Tony.

Hope everyone is having a good Wednesday!

Well, got my closet cleaned out today FINALLY! What a chore! I did have a major allergic reaction to the dust though ugh!
But I was able to eat a little better today and am currently at 1.25 gallons of water. Still have to do some form of workout, but I'll keep it light so that I'm not too tired for my training session tomorrow. Weird, but I'm actually looking forward to it!?

no gym, tonight.

could not keep my eyes open. also, until the anti-fungal pills start to take effect, it will be difficult focus-ing on anything. the foot itching is quite intolerable. Perhaps by Saturday. I was excruciatingly hungry tonight. What stopped me from off-plan eating was a large chinese dinner, all ATKINS-ized of course. That took the edge off. It is one of those times, when i will be hungry until i wake up. FF

ff, athlete's foot can be soooo irritating!...do you know if there are any side-effects from the anti-fungal pills?...i don't have the problem now, but have in the past and may in the future and i am curious...

artemis, happy you ate a little better today...wanna clean my closets?...lol...

good menu, abi...

made the most delicious beef stew tonight - mostly meat and a few carrots, mushrooms, and potatoes - splashed in a little red wine at the end...wow!

leftover fish for a late lunch...

FF, so sorry for the itchy feet. Hope the pills do the trick. I spend most of my time excruciatingly hungry but try to do like you and always have on plan food available.

Tony, the beef stew sounds delicious esp. with the mushrooms. Do you use canned or fresh. I could make a meal of fresh mushrooms cooked in butter. Have never cooked with wine unless I was sipping on it as I cooked. lol

Artemis, you and Vicki are putting me to shame with all the cleaning and organizing. Glad you were able to eat better yesterday. You will need the energy for your C25K workout today.

Jenny, Bec, Beth and Nancy, hope you are all fine. We miss you guys!

Marilee, how is maintenance going?

Yesterday I had two pork chops, a bowl of ground beef, yogurt and frozen blueberries and brocolli and cauliflower with dip. Also coffee with cream and one Tbl of coconut oil.

Have a good day everybody!

abi, i used fresh mushrooms...i had never put them in stew before but i liked the texture and taste they added...and i had no onions, which i usually do include, so i used some onion powder...i never cook with wine either, but i thought it might add a nice flavor and it DID...

it's 7:15 and i've already gotten my exercising done...off to a good start...

Abigale, it was my DF's place, not mine, that I was organizing. That doesn't count LOL.

ff, are you still in twoterland?

Tony, I was actually surprised at my lab results since I haven't truly been LC for about a year now. That is how long I have struggled. For some reason the wt creep began last summer (2010).

I had mentioned a few months ago how my newest digital scale fluctuated. The weight that is displayed the first time I step on the scale is higher by about 2-3 lbs than if I step off and reweigh. If I step on it up to 4 times, the numbers on 2, 3, and 4 are all the same and lower than 1, if that makes any sense. I still have my old digital (5 years old) and have compared weights. That scale reflects the lower weights from the new scale.

Anyways, I got the newer scale because of old age LOL. The old scale had black against a gray background for the number display and some how the window got cracked and it went right smack in the middle. So, being 5'6" and having to look down at the numbers (without glasses I might add), it was difficult to see. That is why I got a new scale that has much bigger numbers and bright red against a black background.

OK, so why am I telling you this you may be asking?? I weighed this morning and wt #1 was 206.8 and weights 2 and 3 were 203.? can't remember. Regardless, I am down, thank goodness. For some reason I feel different both physically and emotionally and feel as though I AM finally getting the motivation and groove back.

Oh, I have to mention that DF and I went to TJ's over the weekend. Someone on another thread here mentioned liking the sprouted bread. I disregarded even looking at anything that has the word "bread" in it. But, while there, I read the label of one of the sprouted breads. Lo and behold, you won't believe this, the total carb per slice was 7 g! And, 3 g fiber = 4 g net carb. So, I bought it. Well, guess what. It is calling my name from the freezer regardless of the # of carbs. Does that tell me anything?

WOE: LC my way/calorie and carb cycling

Woke up with a burning stomach. Still made it through my run though. All my fat is now hurting so I guess it was a success!
Now for more laundry, cleaning and packing. Also need to take some things to Goodwill. My time off from work is turning out to be a lot of work!
A good friend is making me a going away dinner tonight. He is from the Middle East and is preparing a lot of special food I've never tried before. I don't know what the carb count will be of course, but I'm not going to worry about it for tonight.
