vicki, i sure have been there and i know how you feel...for me, it was the motivation i needed to make a life change once and for all...you can do it...don't be discouraged by the number on the scale - that number is a reflection of "past" behavior...get in the mindset that you are on your way to new, lower numbers and a new life!...

abi, unless they were dinosaur ribs, i am impressed you could stop at 3...lol...have fun with your afternoon off...let's hope irene decides to shun new england!...

ff, i think what you are doing re: eating and exercise makes sense...if you injure yourself by pushing through pain, i think you may end up in worse condition...you might consider this: if your feet hurt, just doing an upper body workout...try to keep your workout schedule but tailor your muscle groups to those that don't hurt...

artemis, you won't lose every day or even almost every day...expecting to lose every day (i'm not saying you are) is a prescription for disappointment...try setting a small, reasonable, weekly goal of 1/2 to 2 lbs. and work to hit that goal...at the start, you may exceed them, but those early, big losses are not sustainable...

i'm feeling very strong and committed right now...still not sure why this is easy at some times and nearly impossible at others...lol...

Glad to have you back Tony. Everyone on here is awesome and so supportive. I just love our little group.

So, I hate to even post what I have had for food today. But, since I had labs and was fasting I came home and just finished breakfast: 1 1/2 scotch eggs, coffee w half n half, flax/bran muffin.

i am in no pain whatsover ABOVE the soles of my feet.

at this juncture ,the people at the gym recommend i lean toward the treadmill. I tend to agree. I am not going to spend over 2 hrs on the bus going, and 1 hr returning for a mere 10 minutes on the machines. tomorrow, we shall try again. FF

at the risk of repeating myself....

i am so serene w/o the scale. As I mentioned before, i will cut a deal with the WW people on 9/1/11 when i re-join, that after the initial weigh-in, i will only get on the scale at the end of every month. I do not believe that once a week tells the true story. i count carbs, and exercise, i am ONLY eating when I am TRULY hungry. So if there is no progress on the scale that month, it is probably a plateau, or my meds (thyroid)need re-evaluating. So far, my pants are telling me a very upbeat story. FF

Good morning fellow Blitzers! No loss today - no gain either I'm not disappointed. As Tony said, we can't lose everyday. Sometimes the body needs to stabilize.

I have been faithful to plan. It has been a very stressful week at work and the next three will be even more so (I'll spare you the details), but I know if I stay on plan, I will not only lose more weight, but will be able to handle the stress better.

Tomorrow a girlfriend from work and I are going out to dinner. As mentioned previously, I am stopping giving up having a life for weight loss, so I am going out. She is gracious enough to allow me to pick the restaurant so I chose Applebee's - they have Weight Watcher's entrees which will keep me as close to the hhcg plan as possible when dining out.

Best get to work - TTYL

curious, Gibby

is it compulsory to your plan to weigh-in every day? I'm not being judgemental, but I would have given up a long time ago, if i did that. I am doing it only once a month now. But that's me. BTW, Blitzers, do not forget to check the LOUNGE. there is some new material there, from others as well as yours truly. FF

i think whether or not to weigh is a very individual thing...i find i have to weigh every day because i need a short leash and if i am not getting very regular feedback, i have a tendency to cheat thinking i'll make up for it later...

i have learned how my body weight fluctuates depending on my behavior and that helps me immensely...i would not have understood that without the daily weigh-ins...

i do not beat myself up or get discouraged by ups and downs and i'd rather know i've gained 2 lbs. in one day, than realize i just ate pretty well for a month and gained 5 or didn't lose any weight, etc....with my personality that might derail me completely...

ff, you and others here have more discipline than i do and i applaud you for not needing the daily scale visit :-)

marilee, totally ENJOY your meal at applebees!

vicki, that menu does not sound bad to me...slowly try to add protein calories and wean away from the carbs...an occasional bran muffin won't kill ya if you compensate for it with the rest of your menu...

ff-to be honest, I don't know if we have to weigh everyday or not on the very low calorie phase, which is what I'm doing now. On the maintenance phase, which I will start in a couple of weeks - yes - we are to weigh every day for obvious reasons - we are adding more calories and fats and are to maintain (within 2 pounds) the weight we were at the end of the VLC phase. This makes perfect sense to me.

That being said - I, like Tony, need a short leash. I gain weight soooooo quickly that I need to know what's going on with my body. It is too easy for me to stray and the scale keeps me accountable. I admire your ability to go a whole month without weighing. I couldn't do that.

I've already decided what I'm going to have tomorrow night at Applebee's - the WW tilapia with rice and veggies - sounds delicious! I love fish, but don't prepare it myself.

for me, it was a question of experimentation.

the more frequently i weighed in , the more stressed, frustrated and miserable i became. If i really wanted to feel that way, i could have gotten married. (heh heh heh) FF

when i do fish, it is with almost no preparation.

i keep it simple. either i pan saute, or broil my fish. Either way, it takes very little time to make, and even less time to eat. FF

I tend to overcook (except for salmon) so it gets tough and dry. Chef Gordon Ramsey would swear at me and throw me out of the kitchen!!!!

Marilee, good luck at Applebees. I am sure you are aware that just because it is Weight Watchers it isn't necessarily low carb as hHCG is because they do use rice in some of those dishes.

I know, but because I get melba toast/akmak on this plan, it should be ok. Remember VLC on hhcg includes fruit and some starch.

I know we can't lose every day but a girl can dream

So my major issue is that at night I crave sweets and snacks. I do really well during the day and then when I get home the munchies hit me. But I've been doing pretty well with not caving in...primarily because I don't keep things in my house to eat that I can't have.

three times this week i had off-plan food fantasies....

but i have been able to keep them as mere fantasies, and not act on them. The period between 4:30pm and bed-time, and also all day during the weekends is the great period of danger. These were always the times in which i ate off-plan and put it all back PLUS. This is why I must always be vigilant, and keep re-inventing strategies to prevent more outbursts of off-plan episodes, uncontrolled ones, that is. This is due to the eating disorder. If I did not have one, lc would be an effortless picnic...without the ants. FF

my saving grace lately has been that i am not very hungry during the day, so i eat very small snack-like meals until dinner...then i have a couple of big glasses of water before dinner and that tempers my appetite...

ff has trained me so well with these blitzes that i never crave anything so much that i overdo it...for instance, on our trip there were several meals where the kids had a plate of french fries - they looked really good, so i had one or two fries and that satisfied my urge...in the past, that would have NEVER happened...if i had one, i'd have to have 20...

i don't really understand the change - the how or why of it, but it seems like a permanent change cuz it has been like this for many many months...after the 1 or 2 fries, i actually do not want anymore...go figure...

today:
b: 3 oz salmon
l: 3 oz. salmon
s: green pepper strips dipped in hummus
d: baked chicken breast

We are watching the projected hurricane path and of last evening on the weatherunderground ensemble map shows it going right through the Brattleboro/Hinsdale area and then going all the way up through New Hampshire. Worrying about loss of power and trees coming down so will bring Mom over to our home tomorrow. We have alot of trees too but have a garage to keep the cars in and don't want to worry about a limb coming down on one of them. Could possibly lose power so will try to think through meals we could cook on a little gas cooker we have. If you don't hear from me on Sunday or afew days after it will probably be because we did lose power.

Marilee, hope you enjoy your meal tonight at Applebees. Life is too short not to enjoy your times with friends. Sounds like you made a sound decision of where to eat.

Vicki, scotch eggs, are they the hardboiled eggs wrapped in sausage? I have always wanted to try to make some. They are so neat looking and I bet taste delicious too. Do you dip them in mustard?

FF, do you have to worry about power outages in the city? That is so true that we have to keep inventing strategies because of our eating disorder. Eating in a 5 hour window on my Fast Five is keeping me from overdoing it. When the time is up the eating stops. Kind of like yours and Tony's curfew only I have a time at the beginning I can't eat until the time of my window starts. I am doing 1 to 6 right now because it works for me.

Tony, I have always been a daily weigher too. It has kept me from letting my weight get totally out of control. I have lost 10 pounds here and 20 there to a total of at least 100 pounds. It is too bad I didn't realize years ago how carbs were the problem and low carb eating was the answer.

Artemis, the evenings have always been my danger time too. Great that you can keep those tempting things out of the house. DH has to have his junk food and Mom has to have hers at her house. It is always a challenge not to give into temptation.

Yesterday I had my coffee with cream, brocolli with sour cream dip, greek yogurt with afew frozen blueberries, an oz of jalepeno cheese, and ground beef.

Have a great Friday everyone.

abi, your menu sounds great and i am very proud of you for working so hard to try different strategies to stay on track...this is certainly NOT easy but everyone here is really keeping at it!...if you lose power, we probably will too - hope we're not both in the dark this weekend!

speaking of everyone here - where has nancy been?...i haven't caught up on all the posts while i was gone...did i miss something?...she was posting daily - does anyone know if she's okay?...

Lost another pound yesterday!

Abi, stay safe during the hurricane and here's hoping that your power stays on!

I am a daily weigher too. Not only does it help me keep on track, but I can also see where my carb cut off is.

i hate this mechanical scale, but from what i can tell, i have lost 2 lbs. since i left for vacation...i seem to be at 211...still have a long way to go to get to 1derland by the end of september, but i'm not giving up yet... :-)

i've got a good stretch coming up where i think i can lose...i will be busy with work and the kids go back to school next week which will keep me away from food...then i go to nashville to write the week of sept 19th and that always helps, so i've got a longshot to do this!

the best way to use the scale, especially on a daily basis

is to use the same scale, at the same time of day or night, with the same level of clothing (or lack of clothing). This is the best way to get as close to accurate as possible. FF

TGIF!!!! No loss - no gain - no problem! The scale will go down eventually.

Praying for all of you on the East Coast. I've never heard of a hurricane going inland before. Very strange!

I weigh first thing in the morning, after visiting the lavatory, in my birthday suit  I know - TMI, but that's what they say to do and I'm just being obedient!

I miss Nancy, too! I don't know what happened to her. Nancy, if you are out there - we miss you!!!!

FF, if your feet are bothering you, you might try some seated weight lifting. I did this a lot while recovering from my accident. Most upperbody and many core resistance training exercises can be done with free weights, seated on a Swiss ball (aka balance or physio ball). Your gym should be able to show you. Save the machines for lower body workouts. You will gain strength much faster with resistance training than cardio.

Still out here plugging along. The scale is slow in going down, but the sizes are shrinking. Am now in the tiniest pants I could find in the back of my closet and had to buy new bras and undies since spring.
