Tony, I think we all are looking for the magic group that will totally keep us motivated. After hopping around to different ones we finally realize there is not a magic group and it has to be our own efforts to keep with the program. Some of us here have started with other groups in the past and dropped out. I know for me that I decided to keep with this group because I liked the vibe and there is always someone here to chat with. It's your faithfulness to the group that keeps me coming back even if you are having ups and downs too. But I also know it is up to me to stay with my program and I don't expect you all to carry the burden of keeping me from slipping.

Bec, glad you are with us everyday even though you don't post. Hope you will continue to everyday. Just tell us what you are eating if you don't feel like writing any more. We do miss you when we don't hear from you.

Hope Jenny is still out there and will check in soon. And what about Tammy and the others that were here when I started with this group?

Vicki, did you buy the Ipod2?

Marilee, you know my problem with nuts too. If they are around I am going to overeat them. I have gone 4 days now without touching them. I keep the jar behind a photo on a table in Mom's living room for the others but they are not out in plain sight calling to me. lol

Beth, I have been trying to get a grip on my binge issues too. Hope the intuitive eating will help you and give us some incite when you have read up on it.

FF it's 4:30am and I am getting hungry already reading your eats from yesterday!

Yesterday I had an oz of horseradish cheese, a big bowl of shaved steak, and a salad. Added a few drops of hot sauce to my sour cream and ranch dip seasoning for the salad. Gave it a little zing!

Everybody have a great Saturday!

abi, god knows i've had my ups and downs...wish i could have just gone straight to goal, but i guess i'm not built that way...i've always liked a meandering windy road to places i wanted to go...always seemed i saw more and learned more that way, and that may contribute to my slipping and sliding my way to this goal...

i was wondering if some folks leave because we are not as structured and strict as i am imagining some groups are?...if that's the case, i don't think there's much we can do as i don't think that approach is consistent with the personality types in here...

hey kbeth, how r ya, kid?...is it still hot over there?...

i'm still on a roll...may head to maine today, so if y'all don't see me for a day or two, that is why...i'm dreaming about steamed clams and lobsta :-)

i got even for all of us!!!

i was at Shoprite on the way to the 10 items or less checkout, when the corner of my shopping cart got caught on a Nestles Crunch display. I regret to say that hundreds of bars fell to the ground...That's a shame. Feeling my age this weekend. Did absolutely nothing except a laundry today. Tomorrow, I believe my batteries should be sufficiently recharged to do a session at the gym. I also have a lc loaf and a low carb cheesecake reserved,1/2 for me, 1/2 for my friend Cleopatra,<it is low fat as well as low carb>. But I must go directly home from there or the cheesecake will not survive. The humidity is sapping my strength, just as sure as ordering in is sapping my income. Autumn weather cannot come soon enough. GREETINGS, BECIN. U do not need to contribute anything new. Just chime in and say hi. U know what it means to have so many LCers from all over just saying hello? It really revives us and encourages us. So, don't be shy, love. FF

ff, nice job taking out the candy display...your next mission will be to unplug the ice cream freezer!...

i think you'll have more energy tomorrow...you've been pushing yourself and i'm sure needed a day off today...

good day today...only ate one real meal - steak and pork chops for dinner with farm stand broccoli and an ear of corn on the cob...really good...

FF, do you have a washer and drier in your apartment or do you have to lug it all to a laundromat? That would be alot of exercise right there. Also, did you have to help pick up all the candy from the floor or did you keep walking fast to another area before they saw the pile on the floor? That would have given you a good workout too.

Tony, I only had one meal yesterday too. I made some chicken patties out of ground chicken seasoned with some garlic salt, oregano, parmesan cheese and parsley. After they were cooked I put a little tomato sauce and a slice of provolone cheese on top and nuked it til the cheese melted. Had two of those plus 2oz of plain cheese. Not bad tasting - something a little different for me.

abi, that sounds yummy...kinda like a chicken parm patty...good choice!

no idea what i'm eating today...there's not much leftover, and i'm thinking we may go out to eat later...

feeling good and things are still under control on the eating-front...i've been writing a lot lately, so that takes my time and attention away from food - i never eat while i write... :-)

no, the laundromat is in the building.

sometimes i am compelled to yield to reality. It was so humid and hot today, that even riding the buses was an effort, and i got a seat in both directions. No gym, and no walks this whole weekend. But, I did stay on plan. Tomorrow, we get back to huffin, & puffin, & gruntin...oh my!!! Today, I had 2.6 gr of carb so far. Let us round it out to 3, if we count the 1 T of cream with the 2 joes (1 iced and 1 hot). So, i will finish off the day with a Happy Family, and a SMALL rib (5 pieces). I almost got electrocuted. I got my haircut (crewcut #1-closest thing to billiard ball). My head was sweating, and the clipper was electric. Any second, and I was going to be put out of my misery, permanently. Well, now that the hair is out of the way, I am sure I took off a few lbs (not really). Tony, if it is significantly cooler in Maine, shoot a few holes in the trunk, for air, and i will make the next trip. I will sing for my supper!!! FF

I would have been more than happy to pick them up myself for $1000.00 worth of free merchandise. Am I Ferenghi or what? FF

lol FF, you are a true blue Ferenghi! Do you have a good singing voice and do you sing along when you listen to the operas?

Tony, do you write the lyrics and the music both? I love to get engrossed in a project that takes my mind off of food.

Yesterday I had my usual 2 scrambled eggs and bacon at breakfast after church. My older sister surprised us and joined us for church and breakfast. She had driven down from Canaan and arrived at 5min before 8. There were 7 of us at the table at the Country Club and DH was playing in the last day of a 3 day member guest tournament. He arrived at the parking lot between the two sets of 9 holes so was able to chat with us for a few minutes. Almost a family reunion.

For dinner I had shaved steak and zuchini and summer squash fried in a little butter. Also a couple of tiny tomatoes and a cucumber sliced in vinegar. The vegetables are coming fast a furious so decided to have a few while I had the chance for some fresh ones.

I should start a book of your witisisms -if that is a word FF. When the grandkids were younger and DD would call me with something funny they said I would write it in "THE BOOK" as it was called. Occasionally we read through them and get such a laugh.

So much for Tony letting you sing for your supper stashed away in his trunk!

ff, if you come to maine, i'll provide you with a seat up front - we'll leave the trunk for the cooler full of lobsta...

abi, i write both lyrics and music...if an idea hits me while i'm near my guitar, i use that...if not, i figure out the vocal melody-line while i write the lyrics, and work the chords out on the guitar later...takes a lot of focus and i never think about food while i'm doing it...

who started this shaved steak craze?...lol...we ordered subs for dinner last night and i was eating the shaved steak, mushrooms and onions out of the sub roll...i wonder how much they charge for those rolls i throw away?... :-) also spent a couple of hours in the pool - i think i will do that again today...

it will probably be grilled marinated chicken breasts for dinner tonight...unless i change my mind between now and then...

i augmented my lunch with 3.5 baked chicken drumsticks

i suppose that is a normal portion for a normal HEWMON. However, as we all know, i am neither normal, nor HEWMON. All the same, it went down well, and i seem to be quite satisfied. FF

thanks for the directions to the lounge!...ff, you are a hoot...

we are considering taking the rv on an "end of summer" road trip to yellowstone...we were there in 2003 and it was soooo beautiful...if we do it, we would incorporate a side trip to nashville to surprise our daughter - we miss her and the prospect of seeing her definitely adds an incentive!...lol...i will keep you posted...we would be gone about 2 weeks...

ate well yesterday - marinated broiled chicken breast for dinner topped with local sliced tomato and pepper jack cheese...yummy!...steamed green and wax beans with it and a dollop of whole grain wild rice...

today's menu is up for grabs except for the leftover chicken being eaten for lunch...

I have been up since 0445. I thought sleeping in my own bed would help. Oh well, already exercised, have had some coffee, researched more about painting my kitchen counters to faux granite and what products to use. Now, on to shower.

ff-the weather here is fabulous finally. The heat wave broke a couple days ago and now our highs are in the upper 70's to low 80's, yippee.

i also had a great weather evening, yesterday

until i went upstairs. I will be at the gym everyday this week, thru Sat (except Thurs). I need to get thoroughly addicted, if i am to make this work. I alternate chest and back muscles, but i do the biceps every day i am there. My upper arms still have nothing to show for it. The real value of this gym, is that i am wasting valuable free time that would ordinarily be spent watching tv, or a dvd, and paying too many visits to the kitchen for ON-PLAN food. I still eat quite a bit, but less than before the gym. Whether i will look any different, or whether it will help me drop the lbs any quicker, that remains to be seen and felt. Tony, i hope u will be able to take some digital fotos of your trip, and do a "show & tell" on your return. today's eats: BKFST: liquids. A.M. break: tuna salad scooped up by pork rinds(brand name is SOUTHERN RECIPE, and has the lowest sodium of any chicharone i have seen to date-240mg per 1/2 oz). LUNCH: this little piggie is having roast beef on lc toast with some salad fixins, and deli mustard. Afternoon break: LC CHEESECAKE, a holy sacrament, to be sure, to Dr. Atkins, a true healing God. FF

Everybody sounds so good today, upbeat and eating delicious low carb food!

Happy that the weather is giving you a break Vicki and FF. It rained in Missouri yesterday and DD was thrilled. Son-in-law says the lawn looks the moon landscape right now.

I ate the last two chicken patties with tomato sauce and provolone cheese last night and one slice of roast pork. Made a salad but decided after afew bites I didn't like the salad dressing. Should have done my usual sour cream and ranch seasoning. Had just the one meal and plan to do the same today. Probably more pork roast.

Marilee, best of luck with the next round of hcg!

Tony, your trip sounds terrific. And boy, won't your daughter be happy to see you all!

FF, sounds like a good plan for the week. Staying out of the kitchen and getting addicted to working out is great. Are there any regulars there at the times you go so you are making some workout friends?
