FF - Keep thinking of "The little train that could"... "I think I can, I think I can, I know I can" We're rooting for you!

2f2f - Congratsie! You're are sooooo good!

Donna - As the newest inductee, the grape feeding to Tony is part of the ritual, but it keeps him calm.

Gibby - You're soooo close girl. You just hang in there, it's going to happen!

Live Free - Prayers are being offered up for your surgery. A sore throat is a common side effect of anesthesia after surgery. Best thing to do is to drink water or warm tea as soon as you're allowed and take whatever OTC remedies your doctor recommends. Although the Dunkin Donuts Coffee Coolata sounds much better!!

Tony, nice gift the guitar! I've played since I was 15 years old and still love it after all these years. Someday, maybe we'll have our own jam session.... rock on!!

Barbarella - I love your discipline! Can you send a little this way?

As for me.... I've dropped a total of 4 pounds this week, my first week on induction, thus far. My final week will be over on Saturday morning when I weigh in, but I've already noticed a slow down in the loss. Probably because we have eaten out twice this week. Last night we went to the Ponderosa Steak house. I ate chicken and veggies off that buffet and was doing sooooo good until I hit the dessert bar!!! It was shameful. I told hubby that we are eating home for the next two weeks until I can get through induction. I went to Walmart and picked up a few Atkins treat bars and shakes and will allow myself one per day to take the edge off when I need something sweet.

I also need to bump up my water intake. I have always had a hard time drinking water, so I picked up some of those 'Clear America' waters from Walmart. I know it's not 'pure' water and it has Aspertime as one of the ingredients, but I figured drinking something is better then nothing. OK, can someone give me a 'pep' talk with regards to drinking water and how it relates to weight loss? I need to hear if anyone has personally reaped the benefits of this. What is the deal with that?

Anyway... today is a new day. I started out my morning with scrambled eggs, onions and cheese and will wander into the kitchen to eat some chicken and veggies in a bit. Tonight I'm whipping together one of my concoctions and will be posting the photos here again!

Love to each of you!
Jenny

Was curious about how much water weight may be in my daily weight so went totally salt free on Tuesday. Was 2 pounds lighter on Wed. About what I thought. Of course I love my salt so am back using it and will probably pop back up those two pounds. At least "those 2 pounds" aren't the fat ones. lol

well, now it is time to get real again.

the excitement is over. Now the games begin anew. In all the excitement, I took in only 2 gr of carbs today. So...tonight, i am having DREAMFIELDS, for the 1st time since re-induction...with sauted canned mushrooms...in butter garlic sauce. a great partner to the porkchops (i am having 2 alla pizzaiola-with melted muenster cheese<i ran out of mozzarella> and Victoria marinara sauce-1 T per pc. It is gonna be a heatless dinner. i ran out of red pepper flakes. SIGH!!! FF

Ate at Dennys

So I ate egg salad and a cheese stick for breakfast at 8:45am....Wasnt hungry until like 3:00pm. Then I was starved at 3:45!!! Had to stop in at denny's. I ate a primerib sandwich NO BUN and a side salad with 1.5 oz of ranch. Oh I had a diet coke. I have been trying to kick that habit but I just had one and NO REFILL!

it is all about choices.

u can eat low carb at dennys, diners, fast food chains, chinese restaurants etal. And, if they will not or cannot adjust the food to your needs, you have the choice to walk out. Last night, at the last minute, I decided to have my pork chops naked (i.e. w/o the melted cheese and marinara sauce), along with the 1 portion of Dreamfields Rotini, with 1/2 small can of canned mushrooms, which I sauted to death. I undercooked the pasta by 2 minutes, to allow 2 minutes to reheat with the mushrooms and butter. Perfectly al dente. There was plenty of garlic and black pepper and a whisper of Mrs Dash in both. 3/4 cup dry looks pitfully small. But, when it cooks up, it is enough. It was just as good as any restaurant. The Pork Chops were crisp on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. Every night is ADVENTURES IN GREAT EATING. FF

A wee bit discouraged

Hmmm... first 3 days on Atkins, I dropped 3 pounds - no problem, then suddenly no weight loss for 3 days. From what I understand you're suppose to drop pounds quickly the first two weeks during Induction. Maybe I'm doing something wrong?

OK, admittedly, I'm struggling to drink plenty of water, but I think I'm fairly close to 8 glasses of liquids per day (some are flavored waters), and other then one mishap at the dessert bar at buffet the other night, I've been sticking to this pretty hard core. I'm also eating '1' Atkins treat bar per day, but counting the carbs. Now what? I don't need yet another diet failure in my life. What do I need to evaluate here?

I understand there will be plateaus, but so soon into the game?

Feeling discouraged here.

Jenny

I am still here in the wings. Reading posts on/off. Been very stressed and down in the dumps lately. Hopefully I will come out of this funk.

Will today be the day we hear a yell around the world when Marilee steps on the scale?

Congrats, FF twoterville.

jennyfidei, my love.

it would be wise to avail yourself of DANDR. In which Dr. Atkins counsels NO compromises, especially during Induction. I was as good as gold during my 1st 2 weeks, and lost less than 5 lbs...and I began at 372.8. It is not about how many lbs can be lost in a given time, but that we will lose it IN TIME, if we play the game according to the rules. I have given up ALL ERXPECTATIONS on numbers and time, thus allowing me to enjoy each day. You are a great cook, so you can certainly eat like a queen, thus enabling you to stay on plan FOR LIFE. So, if u do not mind some advice from a troll, get one of the Atkins books, or the newest one written by 2 of his former colleagues, read it...and if it seems do-able...do it. However, many people find ATKINS Induction a bit too austere, and follow any of the other low carp plans on the market. It is all about picking a plan suited to your specific needs. 3 day weekend to begin at 16:30hrs edt today.

planning my low carb starch allotments. i cannot leave it to chance. I am staying starchless during today's work day so i can have my 1/2 toasted bagel tonight. I will be having cheeseburgers tomorrow, so I wil bring back 2 slices of my low carb bread home. That is it. Sun or Mon will be totally starch free, the other day being a Dreamfields day. I cannot be cavalier about starch. if i am not regimented with my allotments, I am doomed to failure. FF

Good morning all! I just wanted to check in and say HI! I am down to 232.5 today (my lowest weight so far), but heading into the weekend and going to WingStock has me worried. I am also on my 3rd day of the Shred DVD and I am very sore. But it is all good! Have a great day everyone.

Jenny: I would stay away from the Atkins Bars from what I have read they cause a lot of people to stall.

Hi Jenny-
I know that when I started Atkins and lost my first 60 pounds I had to eliminate th Atkins treats. They didnt help me lose wieight and during induction and many months after I didnt have any sweets besides sugar free jello. When I started to add them my weight loss slowed and I eventually fell off the wagon. Just my experience but I know the sweets and so called Atkins Products didnt work for me.....Hang in there and drink that water

okay, sorry i didn't have a chance to post more yesterday...i'll try to catch up here...

ff, i cannot express how proud i am of you...it has been a true privilege and learning experience for me to watch your dedication and will power as well as the love and support you have shown the rest of us...yesterday was my one year anniversary of meeting you, and i had no idea back then, what a lucky day that would be for me...love ya, brother...

marilee, you will get there, kid...you've come many miles and you just have to keep doing what you're doing and accept that your body is fighting you...YOU WILL WIN THOUGH!...i'm still 4 lbs. from 1derland and i can't do much more than i'm doing and from what i've learned the past year, one of these weeks, i'm just gonna drop 2 lbs. and then another 2, etc...it will happen...and if it doesn't happen after awhile, we will tweak things...

new jenny, please don't feel discouraged...focus on the 3 lbs. you lost, not on what hasn't happened yet...it's been a while since i was on induction, so i would listen to the other suggestions here more than mine, but i thought my carb intake was pretty close to zero for the first couple of weeks...i don't think i even ate vegetables...i'm not saying that is the right way or the only way, and it is certainly not the healthiest way for the long run, but it did cause a sudden and dramatic weight drop - i think it was 10 lbs. for me...after those two weeks, then i added in some low carb veggies slowly...

you will be fine, as long as you don't allow discouragement to creep in...i have learned that a 1/2-2 lb. loss per week is the healthiest rate we can hope for...so be realistic and revel in small victories and don't let stalls or small gains get you down...chart your progress on a graph, and as long as the trend is down over time, you are moving toward the goal...

btw, that photo of last night's dinner is downright obscene! :-)

hey vicki, great to see you!...hope you feel better soon...we're here to support you!...

"gladys" - congrats on the virgin low!!!...way to go, girl!...now, just don't celebrate with food like i always do :-)

good for you, brittany!...you showed restraint at denny's and the scale is rewarding you...awesome!

i will post later - i had my doc's appt. today and reviewed my lab results...i'll share the news - it's mixed, but mostly positive...

HI folks and wishing you all a pleasant Friday...

Lost another 1 lb so not only is my ship sailing close to the shores of Onederland, it is just about ready to make port!!! Anchors away baby!

I wish there was a LC cable channel with talk shows/real life stories/cooking demos', etc. etc. I would be hooked! Jenny and FF could have the cooking shows, Tony could have a talk/music/variety show, Brittany could have the "roving restaurant reporter" show, I would have a show called "A Clean House is a Sign of a Wasted Life."...........

Ok, got to have lunch now. It's leftover baked haddock, a few spears of roasted asparagus and cherry tomatoes, and a couple of pieces of roasted curried cauliflower. YUMMMMMMMMMMMM

My sister is a Red Cross nurse leader. The subject is blood and one of the doctors is going to be donating and she is the "poker". They will be cutting in and out during his "procedure" and then at the end, she is in the audience and they ask her questions.

Live Free, 2f2f, FF: congrats to all of you and anyone else I missed!

Jenny: probably the Atkins bars. Just curious, are you eating the kind that says for "all phases"? Remember that during induction the only permissible carbs are supposed to come from those on the induction foods list (like veggies). Hang in there!

Hi everyone!

Sorry I've been so low profile yesterday and today....been super busy...TGIF!!!!

FF.....YOU'RE THE MAN......Twoderville for you my friend!!!

Marilee, you're next sweetie....I see it coming for you!

2f2f way to girl!!!

Vicki I've missed you!! I totally understand the funk, I'm struggling a little to get back on track after the two weeks of moving and family visiting...but I will NOT give up!!!!! We're here for you...please stay with us!

Jennyf, don't be discouraged....everyone is different. A lot of people find that cheese stalls them and they lose more without it....have you had a lot of cheese? I for one steer clear of the Atkins bars and shakes, they don't do much for me. And I NEED to steer clear of the SF candies

Hi Tony, sorry I'm out of grapes...how about a hug?
