FF, sorry the 5 plus walk crippled you up. Take it easy for a few days and don't overdue it. Let your muscles heal up some. Glad you enjoyed the walk though.

I am enjoying the weather at the moment in New Hampshire. Sunny days and low humidity. I'm sure in the city with all the concrete it doesn't cool down that much even at night.

ff, I hear you about the weather. It has been hot and humid (stifling) here. We have been dealing with bad weather and storms too. However, a cold front has come through and the humidity is down and it is a lot cooler.

Abi, I hope you don't get the stuff we have had.

Tony, Zumba is a type of exercise, kind of dancing I think. I guess I never really checked into it much. I watched a YouTube video briefly and it looked like it was too choreographed for me. I am a clutz when it comes to choreographed exercise. By the time I figure out what everyone is doing and my feet catch up, they are on to some other step.

Woot, woot. Down 2 lbs today. I feel thinner and lighter too. I walked outside this morning and actually felt like I had a bit of a spring in my step and could go a bit faster than the last time I walked.

I had supper out last night and the salad I ordered with grilled chicken comes with ranch dressing already on it. This was posted in the menu and I asked the waiter to bring vinegar on the side instead. He told me they only had balsamic and I said that was fine. When the salad came, I took a bite and the ranch dressing was on it. I sent it back and he apologized. The 2nd salad came and there was a small pitcher with what I assume was balsamic vinegar, yet it didn't look as clear as vinegar should, kind of cloudy. I poured it on any ways. I am wondering now if there was oil with it? I had a good loss anyways. But, I guess I did the best I could. Maybe next time I should just aske for lemon wedges to squeeze on top instead. That way I know what it is.

Hey all, Happy Tuesday!

FF - hope you heal up and feel better! Once you start at the gym, start off real gentle and easy and work your way up slowly! You don't want another setback......

NCgirl, wow, wish I had a gym with all those programs so close! That will be a blast doing the zumba. I am a total klutz too on the "follow the instructor" but hey, no one really cares about the form, it's all about moving and having fun with the music!! I must look around the area to find some fun dance things that fit my schedule.

Tony - a belated Happy Father's Day, hope you have fun with your bud this week!

Marilee & Vicki, good job on the losses!

Abi, yup, ain't this lovely weather in NH?! I did a 35 min lunch walk yesterday, and hopefully again today tho it is supposed to get warmer..I can't stand walking on hot pavement!!

Hi everyone else!

I've been keeping up with my Planet Fitness, went Sat/Sun/Mon...increased my elliptical time to 45 minutes then finish off with 15 min on the treadmill. Getting arm exercises in on the machines 2-3 times a week too. Nothing happening on the scale department, but size 16 capris are getting looser so it's still progress!

Have a good day everyone!
Nancy

i am beginning to wonder if...

weight training will help get the weight off...or will it just convert the fat into muscle making me into a cube shaped body still at 300 lbs, but 300 lbs of muscle instead of fat. Not the HEWMON facade I was aiming for. FF

It's going to be around 110 today - here we go! I know it' a dry heat, but so is my oven

Vicki, I would be the same way trying to Zumba! Nancy has the right idea - move and have fun. I am so happy about the 2 pounds. Maddening about the salad dressing. Glad whatever was in the pitcher did not hold the losses back!

Marilee, you are really going to town with the losses! That is so terrific. Your dry heat comment cracked me up. 110 is VERY hot.

I don't know much about biology but I don't think fat cells can turn into muscle cells FF. You will get the muscles and you will lose the fat and may stay the same weight or size for awhile - but you will be buff!

Nancy, with all that exercise you will have to wear suspenders with those size 16 capris!

congrats to all of u experiencing lbs off.

i know that every calorie burned is quite effortful to accomplish. Today for bkfst, (10:15am), i had egg salad(2 eggs and mayo-1 gram-very small eggs). Lunch was tuna salad (5 oz can of solid white tuna and mayo)with 2 slices low carb toast (3 gr). Tonight is cheeseburgers (4 of them)with onion-very little, and tomato. FF

wow, congrats on the weight losses!...

ff, 5 miles is overdoing it a bit, dontcha think?...you gotta build up to that, bro...if i walked five miles today, i'd be in the icu tonight!...i applaud your effort, but remember, what you did was the equivalent of us being at our goal weight and carrying a 120-130 lb. sack on our backs for five miles!...not many folks could survive that...go EASY!...

vicki, you are rocking this thing!...good for you, kid!...i wouldn't sweat the vinegar thing too much :-)

nanc, make sure those pants don't fall down - ummm, on second thought...lol...

wow, marilee - you are doing great...best of luck with those next three lbs.!

hi abi!...

i will be picking up my buddy from the airport soon, and will be away from my computer most of the time...hope you don't think i abandoned you and that you don't miss me too much!...

FF, maybe Ballys will have some specials going on now that it is summer. I bet their enrollment drops off from the frenzied after New Years sign ups at this time of year.

Tony, enjoy your friend's visit and try to stick to your plan the best you can!

Vicki, Marilee, ncgirl, Nancy, FF and Jenny how are your days going? Anybody else out there lurking? Come and join us!

Eating a bowl of ground beef at the moment. Will probably have a slice of swiss cheese too. Haven't thought about lunch and dinner yet.

tossed the cheese last night!!!

(that was tossed, not cut...heh heh heh)I had some time before 8pm curfew began. so i took my last 2 oz of muenster(3 thin slices). i took 1 bite....yuck, poo...salt, salt, salt. there was no cheese flavor at all. I threw it out in the garbage, and spat out the bite i had taken. I have tasted less salty feta cheese. It was strange, because the rest of the cheese in that pack was perfectly fine. No moral to this story. It was just something that happened. My legs are loosening up a little more. I hope i will be ready for some more seashore hijinks this weekend. FF

I had that happen with some bacon I had cooked and still had 3 slices left in the frig about 3 days later. They had become soooo salty. Of course I made myself eat them because of all the starving children in China but didn't enjoy them. It is raining here in NH today and I think tomorrow too. Are you going to have a dry weekend in NY? I get a little homesick for Alabama when I think about you walking on the beach. Our backyard was Gulf of Mexico for 10 years and I really loved walking on the beach. But I can still enjoy it vicariously through you FF.

Hi All!

Well, there is a potluck pig-out lunch going on in our department today for a going away party. I am thinking of you all, my dears, as I exercise GOOD CHOICES, so here's lunch:

WHAT I AM EATING WITH UTTER PLEASURE AND RESOLVE:

1. LC broccoli salad recipe (I made)
2. baby spinach salad with red onion a few sliced strawberries
3. 1 pc of deli turkey, 1 pc deli roast beef
4. 1 small meatball
5. some chicken breast for the salad.
6. a few pcs of celery

HERE"S WHAT I AM PASSING UP CONSCIOUSLY, i.e. WHY WOULD I WANT TO EAT THIS and blow my WOE?
1. potato salad
2. American chop suey (that's a New England dish with elbow macaroni, grounded beef, lightly sauced with a red sauce
3. corn chowder
4. rolls
5.. chips
6. croutons
7. cake

OK then, well.....would love to have a lunchtime walk but rain is coming in now......be cool everyone!

i am desperate for a post-work walk.

i am wearing my old brown shoes. they predict heavy rain for just that time. However, if there is no lightning, i will gladly get wet. My umbrella does not cover all of me...not yet. If i get off at Bklyn. College and walk to the Shoprite supermarket, it will be about an hour's walk, In the rain...add 30 minutes. I had a turkey sandwich for lunch. i tossed the roll as soon as i got it back to my desk. there were beautiful romaine leaves instead. Don't know what i am having for dinner, except that it will have either fins or an outer shell. FF

FF, we have had over an inch of rain so far today. I hope your brown shoes are water proof! I hate walking in wet shoes with wet socks. I don't want you to catch your death of cold!

Nancy, I am so proud of you for eating low carb at your luncheon today. Years ago when I worked in an office we had a luncheon every time someone had a birthday. I was not low carb then and I sure can remember how I used to eat all that stuff. Thank goodness no more! I still make that American Chop Suey for DH only we have always called it Goulash at our house.

Marilee, loved that I gave you a good laugh today. lol

Vicki, I have not had a whopper in a bowl but know I would love it. I think we only have a Mc D, taco bell and Kfc here in Brattleboro. Don't remember seeing a Burger King. lol Just reread your post, not BK but Linda Sue. Will check her out. Thanks!

Hope Tony is behaving himself!

got in 1/2 the walk that i planned.

the humidity quite totalled me. when i got to Shoprite, i got a coffee, and sipped walking up and down the aisles and at the check-out counter. i am making a chef salad for dinner, which has not started yet. as a matter of fact, i will make it for bkfst/lunch tomorrow. i will have a Happy Family, and a large spare rib. i bought a 20" box fan, as the piece of junk i have could not cool off an insect. Time to call the Great Wall. FF

i hope i have similar results at today's weigh-in at high noon. Although my efforts were considerable, i do not trust the scale to always give me a result indicative of my past 7 days performance. FF

Yea Vicki!

I'm down 1.8 pounds....I will probably have to give up my little bit of cream that I use in my coffee but I'm on a mission to lose weight and I really want to get into the 280's this round.

Got up this morning at 4:45 and it was 82 degrees - Summer is here!

I updated my stats - 294. Almost into new numbers. I hit 292.6 for a nano second last round so anything below that will be new. Hopefully, by Monday!

YAY, congrats Vicki and Marilee!!!

Marilee, send just a little of your hot weather up here in NH ..sheesh, it's cool and drizzly!!

What a fish day I am having folks! Had a small pc of leftover baked salmon and spinach for breakfast, which made me feel really full all morning! Then some leftover baked cod w/a few brussels and roast red peppers for lunch. Then hubby's co-worker gave him some striped bass that he caught yesterday, so tonight, duh, what do you think ...it will be striped bass!!!

FF - hope you have good results today!

Vicki, terrific on the 2 pounds! Everything is working together for you! Don't you love it when a plan comes together.

Marilee, feel you will see that new low on Monday! We are rooting for you!

FF, hoping you got the weigh in you deserve today! You paid your dues this week so the scale better hand it over! How did the chef's salad work out last night. I love them!

"no good deed goes unpunished" week.

i was up 0.8 lbs. however, nothing to get upset over. i am making an exerted effort to continue walking as much as possible, and to watch my critter portion sizes. at least for this week. I can do almost anything for 1 week. I may also do some stair climbing...maybe. Either today or tomorrow after work, i will check out BALLYS. I cannot do consistent exercise at home; the floor joists cannot handle the stress. Now i am gonna have some breadless tuna. Oh, i saved the chef salad for tonight. Last night was ATKINS-IZED chinese.FF

Nancy, this weather is really getting old isn't it. DH has a rain gauge out in the garden and we have had 3 inches in the last two days. Coming home from Mom's at 8:30 last night I saw one road was blocked by a police car with the blue lights flashing. I am pretty sure one of those streams had washed out the road farther up.

Wish I love fish like you, FF and Tony do. I do like sword fish but then there was all that mercrury problem. Also like fried catfish fillets but don't eat breaded stuff any more. Oh well, will stick with the ground beef and tuna for now I guess.

Hope everyone is having a good day. Where is everybody?

FF, if I told you how much the scale goes up and down on me you would say you had me beat by a long shot. Thank goodness you understand how fickle it can be. Any little thing can push it up. Now, when you have to move to the next smaller belt hole size then you are cooking with gas. I am still going by the tape measure at the waist - no movement yet.

Wish we had home delivery chinese here. Only pizza and I won't spend the money to just scrape off some pepperoni and cheese.
